4.5 Stars. overall. I been coming to Happy kitchen for many years. The food here is consistent and good. The portions for the entrées are big. They also have a great lunch special during the weekday. The shredded pork with bamboo shoots to kung pao chicken to walnut shrimp, the fillet fish with seaweed batter are all good. Sweet and sour pork, peking style pork chop, and shanghai boneless pork and salt n pepper pork chop are great also. The service is fast and friendly. The ambience of the place is basic sit down restaurant with table and chairs and booths. It is a clean restaurant with clean restroom. I would recommend this place to people that like to eat Chinese food. read more

Found this little gem in chino. I ordered the spicy fried chicken and the Mongolian beef. The chicken was super flavorful with garlic, onions, and Szechuan peppercorn. The Mongolian beef was very tender and tasty. Will be coming back for sure to try other dishes read more

We ate here today about 3:30. This is a nice clean restaurant that is in a very large plaza. There is plenty of parking. We always order several entrees and today we ordered the boneless pork, the orange chicken, skewered lamb with onions, and the squid cooked with celery. As an afterthought we ordered the onion pancake. First to come to the table was the celery with squid, and the squid was very tender, the celery set it off nicely. Orange chicken was next, it was tender and flavorful, a very solid dish although not something we would usually order at an authentic Chinese place. The boneless pork was tender and served in a good sauce, For my part, they messed this dish up with some seeds on top. I don't like seeds but that is just me. I picked around the wretched seeds and my wife will finish up the rest. Skewered lamb with onions was delicious, we both really enjoyed it. So that leaves the worst onion pancake I have ever had, it was about one forth inch thick and crispy like a cracker. Overall this was a very good meal, we enjoyed the food here and good service by a very pleasant staff. If we could half stars, this would be a 4 1/2 star review. Everything was good but the pancake, and hell, it is just a pancake at the end of the day. I would recommend, and would return if in the area. read more

The portions here are huge and very filling. I came on Christmas and while they were busy, they were quick with making sure the orders came out. If you have a larger party, I would recommend making a reservation because they only have one large table. read more

This place gets busy real quick so you can expect a wait if you come during a peak hour. The service was great and the ladies who around the front of the house were pretty friendly. I ordered a steamed tilapia with ginger and scallions and it was fantastic. I would've preferred a more flake your fish but this was all they had. The fish meat was tasty and the presentation was beautiful. I also ordered a seafood hot pot which I thought would come in a clay or metal plated bowl which everything was mixed in with a sauce. But instead it turns out to be a seafood soup with calamari, fish, shrimp, Napa cabbage, glass noodle and tofu. I was surprised but it ended up just being a soup which tasted great. I am glad I gave this place a try as this is added as another great Chinese food option when I am in Chino Hills. read more

Our go to order is the Fried chicken with chili X2, Kung Pao chicken, Green beans. But all the dishes are great. Highly recommended. We ordered the eggplant with tofu, spicy beef and fish (Szechuan style) and Mao's Pork Stew. My friend from China wanted to treat us out, so we went here. Food was pretty food, restaraunt vibe was decent... Everything was fine, but when we left, my friend picked up the bill. And I suppose that people from China do not tip as their culture. Anyway, as we left, everybody was out the door, except for me, I was lagging behind. The waiter came up to me and told me that I needed to tip, like he was some beggar. This totally caught me off guard, as I was halfway out the restaurant, I did not have time to process this, I quickly just dug in my wallet and gave him $10. I don't know if the staff has any self-dignity, and especially as a man when he hounds customers for tips in the middle of the restaurant. Reflecting upon this, even now, a year later, this really offends me. And it really comes off as inappropriate, and I had to write this a year later to get it off my chest. I came here some time ago to pick up togo for my family. When I went to pay the man pushed a food box towards me (which I thought I could safely assume was a gesture to indicate it was mine?), so I picked it up and after the man swiped my card, he came back and started screaming at me saying that food was another person's order. I was very disturbed and went to go sit down at a small table closest to the entrance to wait for my order. As I was waiting, a party of two walked in for dine-in and the man who yelled at me told me to get up and move so he could seat them at the table I was at. I purposely sat at the table closest to the entrance so as to not disturb any dine-in customers, and mind you, there was no one else dining in at that time so they could have been seated anywhere else. I think the customers who walked in also found it odd, because they looked me in the eye and told me thank you (for moving). Just a heads up They will not honor the FREE egg roll as advertised on their Yelp page after ordering $50 worth of food! VERY DISAPPOINTING! I didn't leave very happy when I ate at Happy Kitchen. - Overall the food prices are a bit overpriced, based on the portion size or the lack of certain main ingredients. Taste was there for most of the dishes. Service was nice and friendly. This place is pretty busy, you might have to wait. They charge extra for rice. Their hot tea is a tea bag in hot water in a mini pitcher. But the cups for your tea are like children's plastic cups. Would've been nice to receive a ceramic teacup or something. read more

We ordered Kung Poa Chicken, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Cream Cheese Wontons, Spicy Fried Rice with chicken, and Spicy Chowmien with chicken (yes it was a feist). All the portion sizes were decent, we had plenty of food for lunches the next day! The quality if the Honey Walnut Shrimp was impressive, the shrimp were large, perfectly cooked, and succulent! The Spicy chowmein and fried rice were well cooked and nicely spiced. The cherry ontop if the cake was the follow through on the spice level for the Kung Poa Chicken.
