We ordered the non-spicy house soup base with tiger prawns, lamb meatballs, quail eggs, fish tofu, vermicelli noodles, dumplings, and mussels. All of it was very yummy, especially the meatballs, quail eggs, and fish tofu, and the soup. Pretty good service and nice casual atmosphere. My favorite place for a hot pot! It makes me feel warm and comfortable - the base soup, the lamb, the beef, the vegetables, the tofu... Every dish is delicious - if I have a big enough stomach, I would order all of them! The staff from the front desk girls to servers to busboys are friendly and professional. Our server checked in on us regularly and ask if we need more water, more soup or get a new dish. It can be crowded sometimes, especially during weekends but it's definitely worth the wait! read more

This is a special thank you to Jacky our server! He was amazing and provided excellent service from the start to finish. For starters get there before 6pm if you don't want to wait an hour to get a table. They only take reservation for a party of 8 or more so i didnt make the cut. Jacky our server helped me decide on the level of spice for my broth and as an indian i figured i can handle any spice level of hotness out there. Guess i was wrong... We started off with level 10 1/2 & the regular spicy level on the other 1/2. Lets just say we were sweating and chugging jugs of water after a few sips! Well thanks to Jacky he saw us struggling and offered to switch up the broth for something we can actually handle and right after that it was a smooth sailing finish! Customer service was great and so were the hostess! We have to thank the ladies since they go through a lot of hangry people who walk in trying to get a table while having to patiently wait to get seated. Ps. They have chips and water to snack on while you wait an hour or so to get seated so thats pretty nice hope you can avoid the rush and get a table sooner but till then munch away and check off the items you want to order on the list. Oh! i forgot to mention that since i was so hungry from the wait i felt like i was literally checking off all the check boxes on the ordering menu that looked appealing but thanks to Jacky seeing the list he helped us narrow it down since he knew the portion sizes and made suggestion to help us through. Driving down Castro Street I jokingly pointed out a few young Asians with backpacks looking at their smartphones while walking across the Caltrain tracks, "They're probably going to get hot pot." Darn it, they were the same folks in line in front of us after we parked! The wait wasn't too long, though. We were ushered in by very polite wait staff and emphatically recommended the traditional style broth although we wanted the vegetarian broth. Long story short -- I loved the flavor of the traditional broth, but hubby did not. It's got a slightly medicinal taste to it that those of us growing up in Chinese families might be used to, but certainly not the white German dude who grew up in Cupertino. The meats and veggie options were all good quality; in fact, my sister took my parents to the Dublin location the last time she visited. We knew my parents would like it. Recommendation to the staff: when a 6' 4" tall white guy walks in -- even if he's with a potential first generation (which I'm not), petite (which I am, a whole foot shorter than he is!) My boyfriend brought me here as a surprise for my birthday and having never tried a hot pot place I was very excited! Starting off, we were greeted right when we walked in, we waited just a few minutes while they set our table up (we were there for a party of 8) and then they seated us. The servers were very friendly, they all greeted us as they walked by and asked if we needed anything. The host came by and interacted with our daughter wonderfully (She's 2) and gave her crayons to color with. When the rest of our party arrived we began ordering. Having never been there I wasn't sure what or even how much to order but the server was very helpful and told us about how bug the servings would be. When our food arrived I was astounded! It all looked so beautiful and delicious, even before we cooked it! We got the half & half pot of spicy and house regular soup. A ton of veggies and the garlic meat bowls. We ended up ordering a bit too much but were able to take the leftovers home. As it was my birthday they took a Polaroid of our party for us to take home. I loved that the woman who took the photo was more than willing to take more if we weren't satisfied with the original. And at the very end I was given 3 slices of green tea cheesecake...I have NEVER loved cheesecake more than I did that night! It was delicious, very thick so it was filling and enough that I was able to share with my entire party. (Unfortunately my daughter was being kind of fussy so I had given her my phone the entire time to watch a movie, so I wasn't able to take any photos to share but I don't think I'd do the food justice anyway) Parking-there's a public parking structure just behind the restaurant. We put down our names and waited outside so that the kids wouldn't disturb other customers. Went here during my first time in Mountain View, and their first month of being open & after having so many great experiences in this nice little town (food wise) this was EXTREMELY UPSETTING. The food came out very quickly & looked pretty good, until I found a long hair in the meat. We told the waiter & they quickly replaced it with a new plate of meat, which was great. Then we found more hair in the broth......... after only eating 2 things, we felt so sick from finding multiple strands of hair, that we didn't want to eat anymore & complained to our waiter & management. We had ordered about $50 worth of food & when we asked how they would handle the hair in our food, they said they did not have "a policy." We said we did not want to pay for any of the food we did not eat, and asked if we could only pay half, but they said No and handed us a bill for EVERYTHING. How ridiculous. Of course we weren't going to walk out on a bill, so we paid it all & left $0 tip. It sickens me that they completely disregarded the fact that there was hair in both the meat and the broth they gave us, but did not do anything to make the situation better for us. I am giving 1 star because the place has a nice selection of foods to cook, but due to their lack of sanitation and extremely poor customer service. I will never come back here, nor suggest this to anyone. I am utterly disgusted & disappointed by a restaurant that would treat a costumer this way. read more

I don't get why this place is so popular. It's overpriced and not that great. At first I thought the place must be amazing since there were at least 50 or more people lined up outside before it even opened! One Pot in Cupertino is 100x better, and about half the price even with an added extra like noodles. The quality and quantity of the meat is much better too. What annoyed me was that you have to pay for EVERY single thing, even sauces! I'm surprised that there was no charge for the soy sauce! The meat alone cost around $14. And the noodles cost around $8 I think. Also, the veggies, they charge $4.00 for just ONE type of veggie like mushrooms. The kimchi costs the same price, and that's normally free at most places! As for the broth, they do give you a lot of broth, but the one that I got was really weird. It was the spicy one. It came with a ton of hard inedible hot chili's in it. I had to take them out which was irritating. They also seasoned it with some weird herbs like cloves I think. It was awful. My friend was sweet enough to share her kimchi with me since I forgot to order it. It was bland and not even spicy at all. We also shared the fried tofu and the Mongolian pancake. The pancake was OK. It's kind of like a crispy tortilla filled with ground beef. The service was a little slow. If you want water, you have to get it by the door. At least they had free bags of Sun Chips by the water. My total bill came out to over $40! That's about half out what I'd pay at One Pot for a much better meal that comes with meat, veggies, and rice. Noodles are only a few extra dollars there. Noodles are cheap, so why charge so much for them? This place is also very loud and crowed as well. Never again! read more

High quality hot pot! I know I'm always getting premium food when I go to little sheep. The a la carte is quite expensive and the portions are bigger than you think, so beware when you're ordering! We came here as a group of 11 on a Wednesday night (WEDNESDAY! Not even the weekend), and had to wait more than an hour despite having made reservations. When we got seated, we had only two stoves for 11 people, but fortunately, the table next to us was finishing up so we were able to scooch over and take over the 3rd stove about 20 minutes in. Because one of our friends is vegetarian, my end of the table got the original & spicy vegetarian broth mix (the vegetarian broth had to be custom made because they said all of their broths contain meant, INCLUDING the "vegetarian mushroom broth" -_-) We order quite a bit of stuff, but nothing premium. Just the regular beef, pork, assortment of meatballs, fish fillets, tofu, and a HECK load of veggies. The soup was good, that along with their service, was what earned this place the 2 stars. But everything else, like the meat, was subpar considering each plate was like $10 for meat and $5 for veggies. It came to being $50 per person, which is like...aklsdjfhklasjhdf I did most of the cooking! Good thing I packed some of the soup home and made noodles with it for another meal, but serious, my wallet be cryin. This is why hot pots are meant to be prepared and consumed at home, because you can easily buy the soup bases in Asian markets created by the Little Sheep Mongolian chain brand. I'm obsessed! We come here all the time especially in the winter, when you're craving a hot bowl of soup. It's been some time since I've been back and it's as good as ever. I would highly recommend the original or spicy soup. The half-and-half is an excellent option if you want to try a little of both. I always get lots of veggies, like bok choy and Napa cabbage. I love mushrooms, so I get enoki and shiitake But if I had to choose one I would get just shiitake. We also like getting a beef plate, all of the options are good so you can't go wrong. I've got and the lamb before and it's excellent as well, but a little gamey. All of their fish balls are great. The shrimp balls are homemade and always fresh. The fish Roe filled balls are also excellent. Finally you need to try all the sauces, for $.50 each they are definitely worth it. I especially like the lake flower sauce. read more

There's no guarantee, but there was actually no wait when we showed up at 7pm on a Tuesday (it filled up quickly after that). They have tons of stuff for the hot pot. We did veggies, daikon, winter melon, beef, and chicken breast. One unique item was the fish ball stuffed with roe - this actually had tons of flavor and was really good. However, all the things can add up in price. Also, I wish they had complimentary sauces, but you need to order those separately. Otherwise, their soup base is the main reason I go - I had a few bowls of it at the end of the night. We also got a meat pie, which is like a scallion pancake stuffed with a meat patty. This was greasy but really good. Service was actually pretty nice (broth and water refills). In the end, it was about $27 per person. It's nice to have another hot pot option. read more

I don't write reviews very often, but I got to say the table management at this restaurant is one of the worst I have seen. We showed up at 5:50pm for dinner for 3 and was told the wait is 45 min. Asked again close to 7pm, was told again the wait is 40min. It was very puzzling that the list before us did not seem to move at all, then I notice they been skipping us and at least ten other groups after us because we are all 4 or under per group. 6 groups came an hour or so after us got seated much sooner because they had 5 or 6 people. We finally seat down after 1.5 hours. I do understand restaurant wants to fill up their tables with bigger groups first so they can make more money, but it is just not right to give away tables to bigger groups that came much later than customers that has already been in line and waiting a long time. read more

Best place on Castro, I have come here and other locations many many times. This is probably the best location (I think the food is just slightly higher quality). Sometimes you have to wait. They open at 5, and it takes about an hour and a half to eat, so come around 4:50 or 7:20. Hot pot is a ton of fun if you've never done it before, great for a big group or two people, and it's very healthy because you eat lots of delicious, nutritious veggies! There could have been detergent or dirty food remains in the sponge that soaked into the soup. This really reflects the staff's carelessness and lack of sanitary standards. Veryyyy happy with this location. I met my friend here to discuss business over lunch and while I waited (30 minutes, Matt. THIRTY WHOLE MINUTES you effing monkey), the staff was extremely courteous as they had no trouble sitting me despite the fact that my friend was not there. First time to this location and while I've been to other locations numerous times, this was one of my favorite experiences. The cozy atmosphere and the graciousness of the staff made for a very pleasant lunch break. Quick shoutout to our server AMY who was extremely sweet and was even nice enough to listen to us ramble on about quinoa, wild rice, chia, and more quinoa. I've been waiting for this to open for a few months now. So happy to have this new addition in MV. The only downside is that it's pretty pricey. We are a couple and we got the 1/2 spicy and 1/2 original soup - they charge per person for soup and this came to almost $8 for soup alone. (Get your free soup refills, people.) The original broth is divine. Herby and milky. The spicy is good too, not too spicy though. Smells like lamb and cumin in the whole venue, which I like. One good thing about the menu is that the husband is a carnivore and he just gets as much meat as he wants because they don't make you get the combo meals like other places. You order a la carte for the individual items. Free scallions and cilantro if you ask for it (edit - not free anymore -_-). This is the BEST hot pot I've had! We had a Sunday night 6:30 reservation for a party of 9. There is a 5 minute grace period, and in addition, half of your party has to have arrived. Surprisingly strict, but we made the extra effort to follow their rules. However, to my surprise, when we arrived our table wasn't even close to ready! We had to wait a half hour after our reservation time before we had a table. Despite this, we had a great time because of the delicious food and great service. We ordered many of the meat, tofu, fish cakes, noodles, arugula, etc. Everything was high quality and amazing - I loved that the noodles were fresh (and not the dried type) and the tofu dishes were multi-dimensional! The soup base itself is rich and flavorful from the herbs and spices in the soup. Our waters were never empty for long (thank goodness, because we had a spicy soup base!), and the restaurant itself is bright, clean, and well-ventilated. This was my first experience at Little Sheep, and it was the best out of all my hot pot experience. My boyfriend had Little Sheep in LA previously and wasn't impressed... but he also agreed that the Little Sheep here in Mountain View was the best hot pot he's had. i haven't been to Little Sheep in a long time so came here for lunch when i noticed this location. I love the one in San Mateo. Got the lunch special for $10 which was super reasonable. I also got the mixed seafood platter because I'm an oinker. Meat, veggies, and seafood were really fresh so no complaints there. My server was also friendly. What I don't like is the fact that the lunch special doesn't come with rice. I get it's only $10 but you are getting smaller portions, and really, how much does it really cost to throw in a bowl of rice? They also charge 50 cents for sauces. I HATE places that charge for sauces. It just makes you look petty. Now, my biggest complaint. Their broth is SUPER salty. I eat very salty so for me to complain about the salt level on anything is just crazy. I am a soup person. I love soups and broths. I was unable to drink any of the broth because I couldn't deal with the saltiness. that sucks because I was looking forward to a bowl of hot flavorful broth at the end of my meal. Love this style of hot pot. My neighbor from Beijing introduced me to the Cupertino location & I was immediately a fan. We were both so happy to see a branch open here on Castro Street. The day we went we had great service by Guojin & the food was just wonderful. I got to take the leftover soup (& contents) home, which I froze for later. And let me tell you, I do not wait much beyond a week to get back into defrosting the soup & adding more goodies to it. On this day, we had the seafood plate, the lamb, & tofu platters.
