After the HORRIBLE customer service and blatant disregard for our desired order, we have made our very last trip to this business. The counter server basically told me I didn't know what I was ordering ( (we order the same thing every time and often and have for many years). She was rude and condescending to me and obviously needs better customer service training. When you spend 40 dollars to feed two people dinner, you should be able to get what you want. Their basic teriyaki chicken bowl will never fail you. it's exactly what you'd want when you want teriyaki... sweet delicious teriyaki sauce, charbroiled chicken, steamed veggies and two big scoops of rice. My go to's here are the: chicken teriyaki, spicy chicken, sweet and sour chicken, gyozas, and the yakisoba plate. My family loves it and it's a good quick meal when you don't want to cook. read more

After spending about fifty bucks ordering a combo and a couple plays of gyoza and another bowl of rice they tried to make us pay almost two dollars for a drink refill! I dont think losing great customers like us by charging for something that all others give for free is a good business move. Maybe in Japan, but not in the good old . Pinching pennies while losing dollars is not the way to earn customers - especially when the other teriyaki places get better reviews than Happy does. Good and service are awesome! Easiest order and pick up too. I ordered an Eggroll, rice, prawns and a miso soup. It was ready in about ten minutes and perfectly cooked. I WOULD say that the miso soup is VERY salty so you may want to order to go and add water at home. Lots of tofu and scallions make it extra hearty. read more

We have not eaten at Happy Teriyaki since last June 2023 when my son found something odd looking in his chicken. Also the foam packing containers were getting a bit scary to me, looking as if the food was absorbing (melting?) into it, even discoloring. Petroleum products are just not safe. I don't think I've ever written a review before but this place deserved it. Got fried rice and a California roll, probably the easiest food to make ever but this place just made the worst California rolls of my life. Honestly, probably worse than Safeway sushi or gas station sushi and they charged me $9 for it.... I ate one. Fried rice tasted like nothing, stale. If you are looking for a good Japanese restaurant just look somewhere else. UPDATE: Our chickens loved the fried rice, maybe they need to switch out their target customer. read more

They are the epitome of slow fast food, but their food is great with grilled or charbroiled like meats, delicious! I feel their portion sizes are generous, their tempura batter a little thick (un authentic) but very tasty. We will continue to order from and eat here regularly. read more

I had a takeaway last night (8/5/23). Which consisted of 4 entrees. Chicken Teriyaki, Chicken Yakisoba, Vegetable tempura and General Tso Chicken. The basic Chicken Teriyaki was very good. The chicken Yakisoba was good. But... The vegetable Tempura was nothing but a gooey mess. The General Tso was basically gooey balls of Chicken. Either the oil wasn't hot enough, poor batters, or just plain sloppy cooking. $28 dollars in the garbage can. I have been eating from here for over 23 years. Sad read more

Headed to westport for some clammin' and had to get some food! We love Happy Teriyaki in Puyallup and decided it was time to try this one out. We called on our way into town, stopped, picked it up and went over to walmart to get some buckets. We ate in the parking lot on the tailgate of my pickup and hadn't tasted anything that good all day. But really, the food was good, the girl helping us was busy, but nice enough, maybe a little short with us. All in all, we'll skip subway next time and stop here instead! read more

You will most likely have to speak up if you need a refill on your drink.. however that yakisoba makes it all worthwhile! So the food quality was about a 4 but the service was a 2 and that's pretty generous. Waiting in line to order, the dark haired girl at the counter kept answering phone in orders rather than taking care of the customers standing in line. I ordered the combo teriyaki chicken and egg roll and asked for it spicy. Pretty simple order and request. After I sat down and waited for a while, the girl that took my order came and told me it would be an extra $1 to make it spicy and she didn't know that when taking the order. I didn't argue and gave her a $1 so I could get my food. The blonde server was nice and brought out my drink and food, she checked to make sure everything looked good and was friendly to other customers. Return of the dark haired girl - she brought out someone else's order that was 4 plates to a guy and his son and when they said it was a to go order, she picked up the plates and took them back. Then she brought them back out and said they were too busy to put them in boxes and brought boxes out and left. A couple minutes later she stopped back by the table and asked if they needed help which he said yes. She then reluctantly boxed the food up and said sorry. Promote the blonde girl, help train the dark haired girl, and realize that these are two terrible examples of customer service. I ordered noodles from the girl at the counter with no vegetables or meat also ordered the honey garlic chicken dinner and a teriyaki chicken dinner when a different server brought out our dishes there was no noodles I told her I had ordered them so she took her food back set them on the counter while she waited for the girl who did take our order to finish with another customer as our food sat out and became cold the girl who took our order came back and said she didn't order the noodles so as I'm totally confused by this I get back up and pay for the noodles I had originally ordered needless to say when they came back out I was shocked that I had to pay $10 for a small bowl of noodles the teriyaki chicken dinner was cold the only thing good on that whole ordeal was a honey garlic chicken I won't be returning to pricey bad service read more

Used to eat here but never going back. I requested T. chx and fried rice no vegetables and extra sauce. The girl repeated back to me T chx and no veggies which I agreed to. When I got home, I had no sauce on the chx, and 2 clumps of white rice. When I called to complain the girl told me "I read back your order so there is nothing I can do". I told her I specifically asked for fried rice and no vegetables. They refused to right their order. They just lost a customer. There is another teriyaki place in town. The first time I was here (a few days before I wrote this review) I was not very impressed. Oh sure, the lady at the counter was really friendly. The place was pretty clean. They have a good-sized menu, and to my surprise they have teriyaki AND sweet & sour items, PLUS mongolian beef. I only mention this because teriyaki is Japanese, sweet & sour is Chinese. Mongolian beef is Chinese-American, so that makes sense. But it's very rare to find one place that sells BOTH teriyaki AND sweet & sour, so Happy Teriyaki gets one thumb up from me for this. But I was NOT very impressed by their sweet & sour chicken, and the teriyaki beef I got was cold. Their "steamed mixed vegetables" consisted of 1 piece of broccoli, 1 small carrot piece, and a huge serving of cabbage (which I don't like enough to eat). We were there around 2:00 so it wasn't very busy (maybe 3 tables being used), but it still took about 20 minutes to get our lunch (both of us had the same lunch combo special). Not much else to say about this Happy Teriyaki. I will most likely go back because they have so many things on their menu that I love, but I better wait until I win the lottery because this is probably one of the most expensive Asian restaurants I've been to in a long time! read more

A lot of food for a reasonable amount of money. Not an extremely gourmet offering but an honest meal for an honest price. This is a great place to eat or pick up takeout. She took our order immediately and the food was ready very quickly. I was surprised at how large the portions were. The teriyaki sauce was the best I've had, not too sweet, not too salty and not greasy. The teriyaki tofu was accompanied by rice and vegetables that were flavorful but not oily. Who knew fast food Asian food could be good? I had the teriyaki chicken and prawns and I was impressed. The teriyaki sauce is has just a hint of sweetness without overpowering. The Chicken was juciy and tender; the veg were tender and flavorful. The prawns were my only drawback. The breading was heavy and they wer overcooked.
