We order from Harmony fairly often. We would visit more if we lived closer. Their food is always delicious and their service is fast and friendly. I've been eating here for many years and it's always so delicious. We always get the Fried Crunchy Chicken with Pepper & Spicy Sauce, probably the best thing on the menu. I had those back in China, I'm surprised they have it here in Atlanta, and I thought I'd go for giving some support. We ordered coconut shrimp, and Shanghai dumplings. Located on the amazing Buford Highway in Doraville, GA this place is one of many great Chinese restaurants. However--a Chinese restaurant with the standard dishes, but all VEGETARIAN, that's what sets this place apart. The inside is nothing spectacular. Standard decor. Drab furnishings, etc. We were greeted and seated quickly. Once we put in our orders, it didn't take long for everything to come out. In addition to the meals being vegetarian, the prices really makes this place a winner. The lunch special meals come with soup, 2 curry patties, a large helping of rice and whatever "meat" you choose for $5.50-$6.50! You can't beat that. The food is very good. The dishes taste very much like the original meat dish. I'm sure if you took a carnivorous person there, and didn't tell them it was a vegetarian place, they wouldn't know. Holy mama moly. I've hit the jackpot. In the past few years, I've turn pescatarian. This is also a new city for me so I was in search of a go to spot. But when it comes to vegetarian foods, I've never had one where it was Chinese style. I went to one in Duluth, but Harmony cannot compare. It was on another level. The menu is so authentic to a Chinese restaurant as well. We ordered curry pockets as appetizers and sesame chicken. The names on the menu appear as regular items on a Chinese menu, but I swear that it's all vegetarian friendly! The curry pockets were amazing. The crust was not deep fried tasting. It was light and crisp. It tasted almost like a pie crust. Then, the curry inside was bomb, needless to say. It had a slight turmeric taste but not over bearing. The sesame chicken, lord. It was nice and crispy, and the sauce just completed it. I mean, it was difficult to tell that what I was eating wasn't meat. Even my meat-eater bf was shocked. Their lunch menu/price during the weekdays are unbeatable. It was like $5-$7 for a bunch of food because appetizer comes with your meal. I have actually been eating here for a couple years now and I can't remember why I have never left a review. The Harmony staff has become family to ours. It's been a pleasure supporting them over the years. The perfect vegan cuisine to fulfill my Chinese food cravings. Some of my absolute favorites on the menu are the General Tao's And Sesame chicken dishes, nearly all of the appetizers (especially the steamed dumplings and spring rolls) and their vegetable fried rice. It can be difficult to find consistency in the vegan world in Atlanta, but Harmony never disappoints! Since Covid, Harmony has closed indoor dining (not sure if this has recently changed), so we get it for carry-out! The service is always superb and it's warming to call and before stating who it even is, they address me by first name and ask how my family and I are doing. I have been looking for a nice vegetation chinese restaurant to add my pescatrian lifestyle. And I find it in Harmony Chinese Restaurant. From the customer service to the delicious food. I would give this place a 5-star! I looooove the food. I want feeling well and wanted some soup. So I decided to get some wonton soup. I was "yrlping" and came across the restaurant that was 15 min from my job. So I said let's try it out. The Wonton Soup was what I was going there for but I came out with that and...Vegetarian Shrimp Low Mein. When I say delicious...I truly mean it! I never had vegetarian shrimp that taste like shrimp. Even to the texture of the vegetarian shrimp, it was just like the real thing. I normally don't order low mein because the sauce is so thick and rich. Many chinese restaurants I feel add to much sauce in which you can't taste the food. But, this meal had a delicate balance of sweetness and crunch. The noodles didn't taste over cooked and the veggies weren't fried to limpness. They were crisp and well cooked. The sauce portion was just right for the meal. Since being veg in the south is pretty tough - I asked my very carnivorous family to meet us here for dinner to appease the hubs. They were skeptical but joined. After that first bite of Mongolian "beef" they were sold. We went from having back up burger plans to fighting over leftovers. Since then, my fam have made the 1 hour drive several times to eat here. Review from a VEGAN: I'm from California's San Francisco Bay Area and grew up eating Chinese cuisine. (I feel the need to preface my review with that to imply that I know good Chinese food, and I know good vegan Chinese food.) Since moving to Georgia, I have not had any Chinese food at all, so a friend and I decided to pay Harmony Vegetarian a visit to satisfy my cravings. I have to say that I am disappointed with the faire. I was expecting amazing vegan Chinese food, but I just got a decent meal at a good price. My friend and I had the Shanghai Dumplings (6 for $4), the Pineapple Curry Fried Rice ($9), and the Beef Chow Ho Fun ($8). The Shanghai Dumplings were okay but a good filling portion for the price. I think the "skin" of the dumplings were too thick and the skin to filling ratio was off. There wasn't a lot of flavor, so you MUST use the dipping sauce they give. They kind of taste like any generic vegan dumpling. If you need to know what a generic vegan dumpling tastes like, then get these. The Pineapple Curry Fried Rice was actually quite good. The curry they used is the same as a one used for Singapore Noodles, so if you like that, then this would be a good dish to order. It's spicy... like SPICY. There wasn't much pineapple or other things inside the fried rice, which I was hoping there would be, but I still enjoyed the flavor of the dish. The portion is very large! The Beef Chow Ho Fun, a flat noodle in a soy based sauce and mock beef, was fine. It was greasy (like any good chow fun should be). The noodles were good and had a tangy sweetness that chow fun doesn't normally have, but I don't think they were fresh as they had a toughness to them. I didn't like the mock beef in the dish. It didn't have any taste or seasoning and were cut into chunks that were way too big. I legitimately told my friend "oh wow, they put chunks of taro in my chow fun!" and was excited, but then I realized they were giant chunks of flavorless "beef". If I were to come again, I would get the mixed veg chow fun instead, as I was seriously lacking some greens in this meal. Overall, not the best vegan Chinese food I've had, but I'm intrigued and would give it another shot. If I ever find myself in Chamblee, I'll be sure to head over to Harmony. read more

Harmony is a vegetarian Chinese restaurant. How unique is that? It's located in the Orient Center on Buford Highway. This is the same shopping center where Penang, Pho Bac, Mini Hot Pot, and Viet Tofu are located. Judging from the plentiful five star reviews and a few endorsements from personal friends and acquaintances, vegetarians/vegans seem to really like this place. At first glance, Harmony's menu looks like a typical Chinese restaurant menu, except everything is 100% vegetarian. There's pork, chicken, beef, seafood, and vegetable dishes, along with soups, hot pot, noodles, and various chef's specials. There's also a lunch menu. All of the meats are imitation meats. The menu items are affordable. Most dinner entrees are priced between $8.50 to $9.50. Most of the chef's specials are $9.50 to $10.50. This is generally less expensive than the restaurant's non-vegetarian counterparts. Lunch entrees are only $5.50 each. A lot of customers stop by for take-out. I've tried several dishes. They include: Chinese pizza Steamed Shanghai dumplings Bamboo shoots and black mushrooms Eggplant with garlic sauce Beef (imitation) with broccoli Buddhist Delight - tofu and vegetables Sauteed spicy chicken (imitation) with vegetables Peking duck (imitation) Lamb (imitation) with string beans Fish fillet (imitation) with black bean sauce One criticism I have is the menu is not descriptive enough. The Chinese pizza is simply called "Chinese pizza" with no description. Different dumplings are available, but the names aren't descriptive enough to know what's in them. So, the servers are very important since they have to be relied upon to give helpful descriptions. To be honest, when it wasn't evident what I was eating, I didn't really know what I was eating. This was generally the case with the imitation meats and the dumplings. The vegetables, like broccoli and carrots, were pretty obvious of course. I believe most of the imitation meats are soy and tofu-based. As one of my friends put it, the Chinese pizza is most similar to a flattened samosa. It has the same sort of crispy, flaky, fried exterior. The inside was a little dense and smooth. It's not a bad appetizer and goes great with the accompanying sweet and salty sauce. In appearance, the Shanghai dumplings resemble large soup dumplings (xiaolongbao), but there is no soup to be found inside. The dumplings are served in a traditional circular wooden dim sum basket. Like the Chinese pizza, the filling of the Shanghai dumplings is somewhat dense and filling. Assorted minced vegetables are inside. Accompanying this order is a thin, salty sauce, which you can spoon over the dumplings. There are six dumplings per order and it's ideal for sharing. Many of the dishes, such as the bamboo shoots with black mushrooms and the eggplant with garlic sauce, are pretty straightforward. The vegetables are stir-fried with plenty of sauce. Sometimes, almost too much sauce. Additional ingredients in the bamboo shoot-black mushroom dish include carrots, snow peas, and water chestnuts. The eggplant dish has sliced white onion and scallions. I really like the eggplant dish. The "beef" in the beef with broccoli dish is... interesting. The texture reminds me of tofu or bean curd. It's funny how this restaurant attempts to have its imitation meats match closely to the real thing. This imitation beef has nowhere near the chew or savory flavor of real beef, but it's a good effort. This same sort of bean curd can be found in the Buddhist Delight dish, which has slightly thicker, chewier strands of wrinkly, multi-layered tofu. Other ingredients in the Buddhist Delight include broccoli, mushrooms, snow peas, carrots, and baby corn. The sauteed spicy chicken is indeed spicy. All of the ingredients in this dish are chopped into small pieces including the "chicken," carrots, green bell pepper, baby corn, onion, and peanuts. Some of the more fascinating dishes are the duck, lamb, and fish. The duck was totally served Peking duck style with "pancake" wraps (similar to soft flour tortillas), raw scallions, and sweet brown sauce. The "duck" looks like a loaf of Spam sliced into several equal-size pieces (it's much better than Spam). This is actually a pretty good dish and I recommend it. I also recommend the lamb with string beans. It's easily the tastiest "meat" dish I've tried at Harmony. The faux lamb resembles real lamb and it tastes good too. A flavorful dish and one of my favorites of the ones listed above. I don't recommend the "fish" in black bean sauce. I love black bean sauce, but it just completely drowns out the fish. Random broccoli are thrown around the fish for good measure. It's not a terrible plate, but the others are better. The staff is great. They're Chinese, friendly, accommodating, and efficient. The atmosphere is casual and a little strange. The odd decor reminds me of a child's bedroom. As a non-vegetarian, I'd come back. read more

I wanted to start by saying I really respect the restaurant's vision that can be read on the inside cover of the menu. The respect for animal life and striving to deliver food that is vegan and tasty. Everything here is vegetarian even though they use terms like "Mongolian beef" or "Walnut Shrimp". There is NO meat; imitation meat that is soy based. We came here after a massage at H Massage (also good) and there were 3 other tables. It doesn't really feel cozy inside, more empty feeling I do think they can upgrade the decor versus looking deceivingly ratchet. Dividers, yeah they need more dividers to separate guests and you'll understand later why I say this. I ordered the Kung Pao Tofu and my sister ordered the Vegetable fried rice. The waitress told me the Kung Pao Chicken was the same thing except the soy imitation meat would be fried in flour first. My dish was great came with peanuts, babycorn, chestnuts, bell peppers, carrots (y u do dis, stap), my sisters' not so much her rice looked soggy and drenched in sauce versus dry-ish fried rice. They brought her a side of white rice so she could fix it which was nice. She said it was good though. I took a star off because her dish didn't come as expected normally. Service is nice. They deserve acknowledgement for this because a drunk dude came in asking for soup and once he got his soup he started moaning while eating and looking our way asking why I was leaving. I just....ah...ok LIKE CAN I EAT PEACEFULLY?!!? Anyways they were nice enough to call him a taxi and they tried their best to serve and treat him respectfully. Outstanding vegan Chinese cuisine. I stumbled upon Harmony a few weeks back and I'm wondering why I never tried this place sooner. First off, everything here is not only vegetarian, but vegan, which makes it very appealing. The only other place I know like that in Georgia is Green Sprout, but you don't have to go into midtown or pay nearly as much at Harmony. Let's start with the lunch special. This is the best vegan lunch deal I have seen anywhere in the country. You start with your choice of either wonton or hot and sour soup, a spring roll or curry pockets and your main dish. This is a very filling meal and the portion size for lunch is comparable to dinner and many other Chinese restaurants. How much will lunch cost you? Just $5.95! And there is no extra charge for brown rice! But how good is the food? It's amazing, even better than Green Sprout, for a lack of other comparisons in Atlanta. The mock meats are up there with others I have tried, including in big cities like New York and Chicago. The General Tso's "chicken" was very crispy and flavorful. I also liked the "chicken" with garlic sauce. Both dishes were thoroughly spicy, so if you like hot foods, you will not be disappointed here. Service is very friendly. On my first visit, I came around 11:30 for lunch and practically had the place to myself. A recent visit was very busy, closer to 1 p.m., but the staff were still just as friendly. It seems like this place really picks up after noon, so come early if you want a quick lunch. They have a rather extensive menu and the prices are all very reasonable. Okay so I've been on a vegetarian kick for awhile now and this causes me to look for new places to eat out at because, who tryna cook all the time. So my friend posted this restaurant on her ig and she's a hardcore vegan, so I decided to give it a try. Luckily for me, I'm just vegetarian so I don't have to be as hardcore responsible about what's in my food BUT IVE BEEN CRAVING CHICKEN FOR A BLOODY MINUTE. So halfway in between hopeful and guarded, I ordered their sesame seed "chicken" and dumplings (I ordered the dumplings because they looked like the authentic Chinese hand wrapped dumplings and I've always wanted to eat one.) When I tell y'all I bit into the chicken and was SHOOK, it was good as hell! Now maybe because it's been 5 months since I've had the real thing but it tasted like chicken to me. I was so confused cause how? So I legit sat there and chewed one bite slowly and thoroughly trying to analyze what was in my mouth. So sidenote, I've tried to tofu thing and it's just not for me. Like, me personally cooking tofu, just nope. Can I eat it when it's properly cooked? Yes, but it still tastes like nothing for the most part. I've also heard of tempe and was told it's a little bit better but I have not personally (to my knowledge) tried it. Now I'm not sure what I was eating but it did not taste like tofu. It had a firmer consistency and actually had flavor to it. Inside I could tell it was not meat though because meat is a bit grittier in texture. These were smooth like cubes out the outside and somewhat stronger composition on the inside. I will assume it was Tempe because I have not come across this particular texture and consistency while being vegetarian at the moment. The dumplings were awesome! Kinda smaller than what I was expecting but they were good as hell with some type of gravy inside and nice dipping sauce to go with it. I would've actually used that sauce for other things if had items to dip in it tbh. Overall my experience was good. The only thing about this is the price. I ended up spending about $17 on this meal which was a lot, but I did not regret it because I'm already plotting to go back. Definitely give this place a try. read more

The service is fast, location is clean, and the food is absolutely fresh and delicious. I recently ordered the following items to go: *Pineapple Curry Fried Rice - spicy and sweet but so good! I love to eat this rice with steamed spinach or brocolli. *General Tso's Chicken - similar in taste to Sesame Chicken, sweet and good. Served with brocolli. *Sesame chicken - similar to General Tso's Chicken, sweet and good. *Sauteed spicy chicken with vegetables - *Curry Pocket - a flaky pastry filled with curried potatoes and carrots. The curry pocket is about 3 inches wide, large enough for a single serving and has enough flavor to satisfy. I was told my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes and the cost was $31.95. In an Atlanta area known for international flavor - Buford Highway - Harmony Vegetarian Chinese Restaurant would not be my first choice for Chinese food. A couple of the dishes I tried - Sesame Chicken ($9.25) and Wonton soup ($3.75) - were good, but missing a layer of flavors, maybe a spice or two (garlic, maybe ginger?) You know, that extra tingle on your tongue... Still... for vegetarian Chinese food, it was pretty good, and that's coming from a meat eater. I really, really wanted to offer a rating which was more than "pretty good." Alas... The Sesame Chicken (insert Tofu here for fowl) was a tasty alternative. Again, I was waiting for the initial bite of sugary sweetness to morph into a complementary kick of savory once the coating was exposed. Didn't happen. And, I think the skin-to-filling ratio was off a bite, which is why I didn't finish the dish (NEVER happens with me lol). The wontons in the Wonton Soup had little taste, which was a shame because the broth had a nice flavor. The veggie egg rolls stole the show. Crispy on outside, cooked just right on side. Loved everything there. The batter on fried items is like a bit sweet but so airy and fluffy. The Fried Shrimp was really good, it's tofu based and the texture was not bad. Spring Rolls are nice and hot so be careful with them because the cabbage will get you!! Szechuan Pork has a nice texture, it looked seitan based but I didn't ask. Just asked if it was all vegan and got a yes so I went in. Would recommend this spot to anyone for sure, vegan or not. read more

I was looking for a vegetarian restaurant that a meat-eater could enjoy as well. So I figured a restaurant that had typical Chinese dishes with meat substitutes would be a good option. Well I am so pleased to have picked this place. They give u a pickled cabbage dish as a complimentary appetizer and it set the tone of deliciousness to come. I ordered the beef pepper steak & my friend ordered the curry pineapple vegetable fried rice. Both dishes had some kick/spice to them and both were amazing! At the end of the meal we were given 2 nice sized wedges of orange per person vs the unhealthy fortune cookie standard at other Chinese restaurants. The wait staff was friendly enough. Not amazing but not terrible. However, the quality of the food made up for that. I will definitely be going here again. Large portions, affordable, and lots of options. read more

I went today to what used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant only to find that the original owners were no longer there! I was apprehensive and decided to give the new people a try and order my favorite meal that was always consistently yummy for over 20 years and was thoroughly disappointed. :( not only was it disgusting it broke my heart. Please have the original owners sell you their recipes and method of cooking. If you're a loyal customer to Harmony which I was you will quickly find that this is not the same as it once was. They changed the decor which was once warm and welcoming to a harshly lit place and it seems like a run of the mill hit or miss Chinese spot. And believe me...it is definitely a MISS. I do not know if I should blame Covid for them selling the business or what. RIP to the original HARMONY. You will forever be missed. read more
