Went recently for weekend brunch. Very friendly host, lovely service, delicious food. The Banana French Toast is a highlight for me! The portions are perfect and filling. All special requests were met with ease and our server was delightful. The outdoor seating is well spaced and they appear to be doing a great job with the new restrictions. Minus one star for the covid 19 surcharge. While I completely understand the necessity of such a thing, I would've preferred to be informed of the surcharge ahead of time. For future diners: it's 10% of bill and it's placed on bill as a food item so you are taxed on it as well. Easily remedied with a reminder on the menu or a small sign at the host stand. I came in for their happy hour on a Friday evening which only available at the bar & lounge. Their happy hour menu is every day from 4-7pm with draft beer at $5-6, wines $7, cocktails $7-10; appetizers $5-11. I tried Pow Pow Sprouts which is like a sweet teriyaki sauce and tasted alright. What a cute brunch spot in the Upper West Side! A big shoutout to the staff here; everyone is so friendly in service and even took some great pictures of us! I ordered the Classic Griddled Chicken sandwich with french fries on the side. The chicken was a little crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It paired perfectly with the guac and the special HK sauce- don't sleep on this! The french fries were fried to perfection and not too salty. I hate leaving a negative review, but this one was well-earned. Food was very, very good! And that's as good as it gets. Service was beyond atrocious. Salads were never delivered to the table. Waiter never checked, and seemed surprised that our entrees arrived and the appetizers never did. Had he checked at our table even once, he might have noticed. Drinks were never refilled. The waiter never checked. He left his shift midway during our meal, but the waitress who took over for him was no better. No attention. She finally came to ask if we wanted dessert, but we'd waited so long for the table to be cleared by then that asking was a joke. I believe in tipping generously and always do. This time, none of the wait staff deserved anything at all. My gratuity reflected their total lack of ... service. I'd recommend highly for the food. But if you want normal attention from the staff, you'll be very disappointed. There are so many excellent restaurants in this neighborhood. I made a reservation and we got a lovely table in their enclosed porch area. There are only a few tables in this area. The rest of the restaurant is very large and one side has a long bar. It was during prime Sunday brunch time and it was very busy, but there were a few empty tables available. You'd probably be ok without a res, unless you want the nice front room. The menu was extensive, offering many options from traditional egg breakfast to bowls, pancakes, french toast, and sandwiches/burgers. The service was excellent - very knowledgable and attentive. My husband and I each got our own meal and then shared the caramelized banana french toast, as sort of as a dessert. Definitely get this..it was the best part of the meal. The bloody mary was ok, I felt it could have had a bit more flavor and it could have used a celery stick. Overall I felt the prices were fair and you get a lot for what you pay for. read more

My friends and I were looking for a place to have dinner on the 4th of July and decided to try Harvest Kitchen. I immediately noticed that this was previously AG Kitchen, I got a bit nervous because my previous experience was not very pleasant. Maybe the change of management and name helped, because the food was much better than what I remember. Their menu had many options, I couldn't tell what was their specialty. We ordered chip and guacamole for the table ( which the waiter forgot) this appetizer came after our meal, and although it was on the house, we were a bit disappointed because of the error /delay. According to the waiter the guac is #4 in the country. It was pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered the kitchen scratch crispy chicken and was not disappointed. The chicken was really crispy and juicy, well seasoned. The fries were a bit soggy and salty. Other than the server forgetting to put in the order for the appetizer, the service was good. They were really friendly and attentive and kept coming around to refill our drinks. The ambiance is very casual and kid friendly. Overall a good place to grab lunch or breakfast. read more

I discovered Harvest on the way home after a film at Lincoln Square. I asked the bartender if they made Moscow Mules before I ordered because some bars do not have ginger beer on hand. We went with a group of 13 on the evening before Thanksgiving. There were a few other large groups and I confirmed with the manager that they specialize in groups around holidays/events. Surprisingly, they didn't force us into a fixed menu like has happened at other places. Given the diversity of their menu and the many limitations/food allergies in our group, this is reason enough to give them high marks. If you add on top of this that the servers were attentive and friendly, I can definitely recommend HK for large groups. On to the food: Harvest Guacamole with tortilla chips and veggies: The guac was ok but a bit boring; I prefer a kick. The veggies were a bit skimpy. Grilled Whole-Wheat Flat Bread with red pepper hummus: The hummus was tasty and the bread was good enough. Modern Greek Salad: Generous portion. Could have used more feta and olives but that's nitpicking. Harvest Paella: Surprisingly good (sorry). The shrimp, mussels, calamari and chorizo all mixed well. A little salty but I would get it again. Salmon: Perhaps our favorite item. Nothing fancy but good flavors and large portion. Branzino: Decent but not as good as the salmon. I give the food 3 stars but upgrade to 4 stars for the whole experience for a large group on a holiday eve. read more

Wonderfully cozy spot! I came here to celebrate a birthday. It was definitely bustling but we were very lucky and got seated super quickly. There was a bit of a wait time for the food but that was expected. Overall, the food quality was wonderful. The steak was cooked just the way I wanted it and the scrambled eggs were very fluffy. The fries were a tad bit too salty for my liking but the salad helped cancel out the salt. The spinach and artichoke was phenomenal!! I would definitely come back again. read more

I stumbled across this restaurant on a long walk this weekend. A pleasant surprise tucked away. Some of the best food I have had in NYC.

Came for an earlier brunch with some friends after a race in Central Park and we were quickly seated. It seems we weren't the only ones with this idea, and oddly it seemed like the stuck several tables with runners in the "3 season porch" type area even though there appeared to be open tables inside... which is too much of a pattern to be a coincidence, I think, and it was somewhat chilly. Nevertheless the pancakes hit the spot (carbs pls!!) and the waitstaff was attentive and helpful. Also non judgmental when my friend asked for more syrup multiple times hahah. The menu definitely skews more brunch/lunch than breakfast, so is slightly limited, but you'll certainly find something that fits the bill. read more

Was a warm winter day yesterday and we decided to have brunch in the outside tent.  We started off with the guacamole dip...the dip was fresh and the tortilla chips were warm and lightly salted.  My partner had the ricotta pancakes...the pancakes were fluffy and the syrup and mixed berries were the perfect accompaniment!  I had the guacamole cheddar and bacon burger, which was also packed with lettuce, tomato, pickles and grilled onions.  Everything was tasty and affordably priced.  Additionally, the waitstaff was attentive and friendly....they even asked if we needed the heater!  Definitely will be returning here when we're in the neighborhood again! read more

We were in the neighborhood walking around Grand Bazaar (indoor and outdoor flea market) and Housing Works and wanted to grab brunch somewhere nearby. We chose this place which luckily we didn't need reservation and was able to be seated roughly 15 mins time. I am glad there was a regular menu we can order off from and not be confined to say a brunch only menu. We got the pow pow brussels appetizer for $10 and it wasn't crispy at all and tasted just wet. I ordered the tuna steak and kimchi burger with fries for $19. I do like the concept but the execution failed. The piece of tuna was nice, but it was slighly overcooked above the medium rare that I'd asked for. Also with the kimchi drapping between the sandwich, it really just made the buns all soggy and once I picked up the burger, it just fell apart. They could have toasted the bun or something to keep that texture and also, the buns they used are buns you can buy at any supermarket. My wife got the red snapper tacos salad $19 and it was just an alright dish. She had to wait a long time for her dish while my son and I were halfway through ours. My son got the steak and eggs $19 and he was the only one that truly enjoyed their dish. His steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the egg was nice and runny inside. All in all, this place is just average and for today's visit...a 3 stars. read more

After finishing up an appointment I wanted to get brunch somewhere with a nice setting, a relatively healthy menu and outdoor seating. A quick search on the ol' Yelp app found Harvest Kitchen so I headed on over there (a quick walk from the Museum of Natural History). At the moment my comfort level with restaurant indoor seating varies, but on this day I wanted to sit outside. That said, I did use the rest room so I went inside and was delighted to see how beautiful the interior was. Modern with classic elements, I wish I had sat inside (it was also mostly empty when I was inside). The outdoor seating area is right in front of the restaurant and looks nice. It's not just a shack thrown onto the street. Some effort went into making it look like an inviting setting. I wound up ordering a frittata with cheese, turkey sausage and caramelized onion. By default it comes with a side of fries (or I'm guessing home fries during regular brunch hours) but I asked for a salad instead and they obliged. Throughout my wait for my food and the meal itself, I am going to give the waiter props for consistently keeping my water glass full. He was attentive and checked on all the tables regularly. It was hot outside on this day, and I really respected his resilience and hard work. The frittata came much quicker than I had expected, and it was a substantial size. Had I not skipped breakfast that day I may not have been able to finish it! I enjoyed the frittata but I will say I wish there had been more turkey sausage in it. The side salad was well dressed and fresh. Overall it was a good meal! While the food did not knock my socks off, the combination of good food with excellent service earns Harvest four stars from me. read more

Went here for a late Sunday lunch with some friends. Was excited to try the place. The venue seemed comfortable but apparently they had the entire restaurant with doors and windows open, offering no real indoor seating despite the high temperatures. This automatically makes the dining experience less enjoyable than one would want. In terms of the food, we ordered an iced coffee and received a glass of milk. It seemed as though the expresso machine was broken. The food itself was unexciting and not special. We ordered a kimchi fried rice which tasted nothing like it and a burger with a floppy and bun. In spite of the food and the heat, I would give them the three stars and not lower because of the service. The server was attentive even though she seemed overwhelmed by all the tables and the host was simply marvellous. Tl; dr: amazing service. Not so great food read more

Close to Central Park, this was the perfect brunch spot if you're looking for somewhere to eat before your adventure! Providing both outdoor and indoor seating, Harvest Kitchen was spacious! However, the lighting deep inside is dark, so I recommend the spots closer to the window. The table was just a square, so it was rather small for 4 people, but we luckily were able to make it work. The food and drinks came lightning speed fast. We ordered the Berry-ijito ($13), Harvest Moon Margarita ($13), Strawberry Fields ($7), and Lavender Sangria ($13) for drinks. For entrees, we had the Salmon Benedict ($19), Seasonal Pancakes ($14), Eggs Benedict Florentine ($17), and Fresh Berries French Toast ($14). Everything tasted amazing, with no red flags from my end. For starters, I really enjoyed my Lavender Sangria, which was on the sweeter side if you like that. It had a refreshing floral taste to it, which I highly recommend for this scorching hot weather! The eggs dishes can be cheaper for what it is, but wasn't bad. I mainly ate the French Berries French Toast though, which was mouth watering delicious. My fork automatically sinks in upon cutting it, and the cinnamon taste paired so perfectly with the syrup. The service was amazing and friendly, the music was nice, bathroom was not as on brand with everything else, but other than that, I had a great experience here. The food here always is FANTASTIC. service is always fast and wonderful too! If you crave a healthy meal this is THE place. The Brussels sprouts Cesar salad is such a wonderful twist on the classic and so healthy and filling. Very pleasant. The staff was super friendly and the service was great. We took an early dinner, so it was very casual and not full. I could tell regulars are here often as the owner recognized the patrons coming in and ask about their families. We shared the chips and guacamole. Oh wow! Took me back to Mexico on a trip to PV. Fresh fried chips and the seasoning of the guac was great. Then had the black bean burger with fries. Couldn't eat all the food there was so much.
