Inside it was clean and there was a line that moved quickly. The Macao egg tarts were absolutely perfect. They were not too sweet with a rich custard flavor and a butter flakey crust. The Hong Kong style was still warm, and was more egg forward in the flavor. They have a great assortment of different items from breads to mousses to cakes and even croissants. I love 85°C Bakery Cafe, and this was just like it! When you walk in you can choose from a variety of fresh pastries. They are all spread out around the store! I've always enjoyed many of your items -- the almond cookies, durian cake, chestnut cake, and pork sung roll are all quite tasty. However, I was very disappointed with the taro pastry. The package shows taro and mochi inside, but there was no taro or mochi at all -- it was filled with lotus instead. That feels misleading. The egg tart also didn't taste good..... As a regular customer, I'm sharing this because I really look forward to your products, and I was especially excited about the taro pastry. I can't comment on much about this bakery except it feels more modern than other Chinese bakeries and that their Portuguese style egg tarts were legit. The crust was super flaky while the inside was really runny and just the right amount of eggy and sweet. A small, harvest-themed asian bakery along Clement. The tables have giant wagon wheels which is pretty epic. Fast service and you add pastries yourself on a tray. The pastries here are hit or miss. I really like the pineapple custard buns. They have a flaky pineapple crust with fluffy soft bread and cream custard filling inside. Can confirm it's not too sweet. The bread is a bit dry, but that is offset with the custard. Was not a big fan of the matcha sponge cake, it tasted kind of bland. The cheese bread was also ok. Soft bread, but the cheese filling is sour. The cakes here look delicious though, so will need to come back and try sometime. Note: You have to pay cash if your order is below $10. read more

We ordered a fruit birthday cake for my mom's 90th birthday and picked it up easily. Lots of fruits and the cake was so moist, soft, and airy. It was also decorated beautifully. They made a special HB 90th birthday out of white chocolate. Will be ordering more cakes from them. They also offer a tiramisu and mango cake. They also offer individual cake slices and desserts which I'll have to try. BTW, their cheese toast with lots of calcium is one of my favs! Ever since I've had my first taste of Pork Sung Rolls several years ago, I've been purchasing them for pot luck at work and people who haven't had them before ask me what they are and where can they get them. I knot that feeling since that was the same reaction when I first had them. I usually bought them at Fancy Wheat Field Bakery at San Bruno Ave. at Portola. Then Wifey found this place on Clement close to her work. Now I'm not sure if they are affiliated with Fancy Wheat Field since they have similar sounding names and sell similar products, and googling the information didn't provide me with a definitive answer so maybe next time I'll ask. During my days off (when I was working) we'd stop by here before her work so she can get some for her office while I'll get a dozen or so of their Pork Sung Rolls. Then one day, I was browsing around and noticed the cheese cake pastries sitting inside the refrigerated glass cases as it caught my eye. These pastries looked fluffy and delectable as it seductively seduced me to go over and have a closer look. It was as if it developed an index finger and beckoned me to open the glass case. I couldn't resist this temptation as my knees grew weak as I got a whiff of it's sweet aroma. And biting into this pasty confirmed the sin I had committed was worth it. It was soft, fluffy, airy, creamy and light. A typical cheese cake is dense and heavy, but this was the opposite. Wifey thought I was cheating on her just the way I was enjoying every bite. Of course I had to give her a sample and she's included it on her purchases for the office since. Aside from the Pork Sung Rolls and these wonderful goodies, they have other tasty and delicious breads, cookies and pastries that they offer. Most are made fresh daily and smelling the wonderful aroma coming from whatever is baking in the back might gain you 5 lbs. Nothing like a good reason to work out after downing a few of their goodies early in the morning. They are perfect with a cup of coffee or hot tea. Finally a bakery I can enter and look around for what I feel like for the day. There has been a lot of bakery still block customers from entering and let everybody wait in line to tell staff their orders. I enjoy walking in with my gf and looking at all these beautiful buns. I also like how they have individually packed all the buns so it's nice and clean. I can see that they still have some newly baked bakery at the back coming out all the time. We picked the pineapple bun with egg custard and coconut bun. I personally like the pineapple bun slightly more coz it's still crunchy on top! It is a cute little bakery done in the do-it-yourself style which is interesting during Covid. Personally on Sundays while everyone is down the street getting a ham and cheese croissant at Arsicault, I walk in and grab their Ham and cheese bun which is so nice and cheesy. We tried one of the cakes during Christmas time. My brother picked up a matcha crepe cake, with 15+ layers of matcha (green tea) crepe. It was really fluffy and I enjoyed it on the second and third days too. Let me be clear - I do NOT like cake. It's just not my thing. But the green tea mousse cake from Wheat Field is on another level. It's pretty much one of the few cakes I will tolerate. The green tea flavor penetrates the mousse so well, and it's light and fluffy. They put so much fruit on top that it's more like a fruit salad with green tea whipped cream. And Mother/Son day:) Quality/Quantity - Wu Ren moon cake, also known as 5 nut moon cake This in not my choice of moon cake, but I have to admit it was much better than I expected. It was my first time and it was highly recommended to me by my Aunt, so of course, my mom said we need to go (as if I really had an option/choice). Two cashiers greeted us We inquired about the mooncake; they replied $9 or $10 each. I am thinking that was the price for a box (box of 4), but I guess I am still living in the past because that was the price for ONE mooncake. Then she says there are only 8 pieces left. Mom says we will take it all. As I was debating/negotiating with my mom on how and why we would need 8/all of their mooncakes; the cashier says to me they are the best! I continued to share with my mom that I will not eat more than 1 (really probably half of one) When the cashier realized I did not want us to buy so many she started ringing us up. And of course mom whipped out her credit card and paid; not giving me a chance to pay or refuse to buy all 8. I lost as usual..........
