Sadly, I had to give it a 3/5 because I found a fly inside the bag of my pineapple bun. However, I do want to reflect on the positive sides of this business first. I ordered 2 egg tarts, 2 pineapple buns, 2 cheesecakes, 1 cocktail bun, 1 cocktail bun with custard, and 1 pork sung bun. The first bun I had was actually the cheesecake. It was light and delicate. It's definitely not the Western style. I also tried the cocktail bun with custard filling. This is good for someone who has a sweet tooth. Otherwise, you'd think it'd be really sweet. I personally liked the egg tarts too because I'm really picky about the crust, which I thought it was fine. Price: a bit more on the pricier side in my opinion. It's also cash only for this business! Now back to the fly in my pineapple bun story: As for the other buns, I was planning to try the pineapple bun next until I saw one of them had a fly inside. I didn't notice earlier in the bakery since everything was bagged up and placed in a box, but when I got home, I literally got so disgusted. I immediately tied the bag up so that it wouldn't infect the other buns I bought. I was really disappointed because I love pineapple buns and wanted to give a genuine review. After spotting the fly, I inspected the other buns and they didn't have any. Also, most of these buns were bagged and not sealed (except for the pork sung bun from my purchase) and customers have to pick and choose their buns so my advice would be to literally be careful with which bun you're choosing or you'd end up unlucky like me and having to throw away a perfect pineapple bun. Now, I'm not going to bash on this business, but I do hope my review gets the business owner's attention about this serious manner.

Durian crepe cake ($6 as of Aug 2019) - AMAZING
    Tiffany H.

I come here for the cakes and pastries (for bread, I prefer Pineapple King and ShengKee, depending on what exactly I want). A recent standout has been the durian crepe cake, which is made in the mille crepe style albeit not with as many layers as the fancier ones you'd find that cost twice as much. For $6, I thought this cake was amazing--creamy and literally bursting with sweet custardy durian with each bite! They sell a mango version too but that one tasted more like a their typical white cake with fruit to me (you can't really taste the layers which I think is the point of the mille crepe cake). As for their other cakes, I look forward to buying them for special occasions as I think their fruit designs are especially beautiful and festive. The other pastries sold here are also pretty good, notably the egg tarts. I'm a fan of their taro and egg yolk pastries too--flaky, buttery, and delicious!

Asian Mom Approved. Good asian bakery for all types of sliced bread and the best sweet melon cakes (lou po bang). Right next to the newly opened Sweet Honey Desserts. Recommended items: -Sweet melon cake (also known as wife cake): These are LOADED with chewy, sweet melon paste. They're thick and fat in a flaky pastry when it's usually thin and flat at other bakeries -Bread: They slice it fresh for you. All kinds of flavors: sesame, sweet, salt, pork sung (love this one), etc. -Lemon sponge rolls Cash Only!

Even with a language barrier I thought I would be able to order a cake the way I wanted. Apparently not. I ordered my mom a strawberry cake plus mango flowers on top. Paid an extra $8 for mango because I wanted my moms cake to be extra pretty. When I arrived to pick up the cake it was a regular strawberry cake with no mangos. #sosad The cake was fluffy and whip cream wasn't too sweet. I'd order again but wouldn't get too complicated with specifications. The durian crepe cake is a must if you like durian ;)

What a cute wagon cart display!

Cute (they have wagon cart displays for their baked goods!), clean, and modern place with regular Chinese bakery options along with some newer, fusion-y ones like the Black Sesame Walnut bun. We bought a variety of items like the Taro Pastries (pretty, but didn't love the filling), Walnut Tarts (decent), and Egg Custard Tarts (good), but the Black Sesame Walnut bun was the one that really stood out. The one we bought was piping hot and ridiculously delicious with a great nutty / sesame taste swirled throughout the bun. Will definitely be back for the sesame bun!

Red bean bun, $1.30, 4.5 stars. Crazy soft and moist. Just the right sweetness! Sun afternoon 2019-09-29
    Ziyan C.

I stopped by on a whim as they were closing and from the slim pickings left after being open all day on a Sunday, I chose a Red bean bun (4.5 stars!). This was crazy soft and lightly sweet. A great dessert you can grab if you're in the neighborhood!

    Pork Sung Bread $1.40

3 stars for the variety of bread & 4 stars the cheap price and quality! It's the closest thing to Chinatown price in this neighborhood! BREAD: This bakery reminds of bakeries in Chinatown, but displayed Sheng Kee & 85 Degree style. Get a tray, wax paper, tongs and grab the bread you want and pay. Prices range from $.60-$3ish depending on the size of pastry. They also sell cookies, cakes and small pastries. Honesty, I can see myself coming instead of Sheng Kee if I'm craving a pineapple bun or some traditional Asian bread because it's so much cheaper. SERVICE: Traditional Asian ladies working in the front, they're not really known for their topnotch service so I'm not even going to bother rambling about that. Not that their service was horrible, just not the warmest. AMBIANCE: Quite small, very clean. There's only 2 table for seating.

    Cathrin P C.

Tried a sampling of their goodies. This is basically like Sheng Kee. Their cakes taste average but their baked Portuguese tart and curry pocket is freaking out of this world amazing. Next time I come, it's gonna be a dozen curry bakes and 2 dozen Portuguese tarts to go

Not sure why Yelp says it's closed, but it's open for business. Everything looks nice and new and freshly baked. Check it out.

I think we came here around 2 pm, so almost close to closing, but 90% of items were sold out. Yet there was still a huge queue. Why close so early and be out of stock so fast if ppl clearly still want croissants at 2 pm on a Saturday? Also, they forgot two croissants in our bag, and we turned around 30 seconds later and told them they're missing. They needed to "verify" our order, which made me feel like I'm a thief. I promise I'm not stealing when I already spent $37 there. I just want what I paid for!! Anyways, check out the other 2 locations if you're not a local who lives nearby, as they're much nicer.

It's definitely a busy area so expect to park in one of the nearby residential areas or be extremely and walk/bike/bus here! Upon stepping into the tiny shop, I was enveloped in the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies. It was tempting to put that in my bag, but I stuck with my game plan. They do self serve for all the baked goods and drinks except the pizza and focaccia. You tell the cashier what you grabbed. There's self serve complimentary water on the side too. Got a pecan swirl, one of each square focaccia flavors, and a half pizza (hot). The pizza flavor of the day was triple mushroom with sesame ginger garlic vinaigrette and mozzarella. It was 10/10 delicious!! Do note that they don't heat up the focaccia. Personally, after tasting everything, I'd say the pizza is more worth it than the focaccia "pizzas". The pecan roll was quite addicting too. You can also skip the line if you want to order online on their website and schedule a pick up time, but my gift card didn't work so I just waited in line.
