Cornbread is amazing. Had the pork chop and fried green tomatoes. The service here was excellent. Outside is great if the weather is nice. Inside is a great vibe for a date night. Highly recommend this spot.

I hadn't been to Hatchet Hall in years, so I was excited to see if it still lived up to my memories. I'm happy to report it absolutely did. We started with the fried green tomatoes, and they were a standout. I'm usually not a pimento cheese fan, but here it elevated the dish. Every bite had the perfect balance of crispy crunch, creamy cheese, fresh herbs, and just the right touch of heat. For our mains, we ordered the lamb shank and collard greens. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the rich, deeply flavorful broth made it even better. The green beans added a fresh pop that balanced the dish nicely. The collard greens were equally impressive, slow-cooked in a savory, flavorful pot liquor that begged to be soaked up with the must-order cornbread. Crispy on the outside, warm and buttery inside--it was perfection. Don't skip dessert. The chocolate chip cookies arrive warm from the oven and are the perfect ending. With its cozy, nostalgic atmosphere and elevated Southern cooking, Hatchet Hall feels like Sunday dinner at Grandma's--with a modern twist.

I had seen the restaurant many times as we like to frequent the ice cream shop across the street. We finally stopped by for brunch to meet some friends. The service was very friendly, fast and attentive. Although the menu said that they "Kindly decline substitutions" they made my daughter's hamburger plain. I saw somewhere that they're not kid friendly and I'm really glad she enjoyed the burger. My husband and I shared the steak and eggs, deviled eggs & biscuits. Are friends ordered the fried chicken, cornbread & a salad. All came out pretty fast, although they warned us that the bread might take a while since it's baked as you order. All in all, it was a good experience. We sat inside and it was really cute.

I've been going to Hatchet Hall for years and have always had the best experiences. Whether I sit at the bar, come for brunch, or come for dinner, the food and drinks are always top notch and the service is impeccable. My absolute favorite item on the dinner menu is the turkey meatloaf -- do not skip it!!

Ambiance: large space, open tented area and nice bar/seated area; we sat out in the tented area with lots of space. Our table was a little wobbly. Service: attentive, friendly Food: Cast iron cornbread - good flavors but heavy, they forgot to bring it out initially so we ended up getting it at the end of our meal which I preferred Hamachi crudo - also good flavors but fish could have been cut thinner Butter dates - too sweet, no balance Potato rolls - one of my favorites, light and paired well with honey butter Belgian endives salad - also well balanced Braised beef ribs - soft and tender Wagyu skirt beef - cooked well, paired well with sauce provided Drinks: high quality drinks! Would definitely come here just for drinks. We got the Quiet holler and Eastern medicine

I heard great things about this restaurant, so I had to give it a try and it definitely lived up to the hype in some areas. The ambiance was beautiful, with a rustic elegance that made the space feel both warm and inviting. The patio where we sat was surrounded by lush greenery, and natural wood accents, it was peaceful, cozy, and quiet enough to actually enjoy a conversation. We arrived around noon on a Sunday and were able to snag a table without a reservation, but I believe we got the last one. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation if you're planning to visit. We started with the avocado toast, and honestly, it was the best avocado toast I've ever had. The honey drizzle and ham were unexpected additions that worked incredibly well together, putting a unique twist on a classic dish. We also ordered the shrimp and grits, which unfortunately didn't leave the same impression. The grits and gravy were absolutely delicious, rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The shrimp, however, was much too smoky for my taste. I could barely eat it. I'd heard so many rave reviews about this dish specifically, so I was really looking forward to trying it. I always appreciate a creative spin on a classic, but I think dialing back the smoky flavor would allow the other flavors to shine. Overall, I'd absolutely come back. The ambiance alone makes it worth the visit, and that avocado toast is reason enough to return. I'd just opt for a different entrée next time.

Quaint brunch spot in the heart of Culver City! Great indoor and outdoor ambiance for a vintage like feel. Brunch has a few staple choices if you like traditional options or seafood. I definitely recommend some of their sweet dishes over their savory unless you love fish!

I've wanted to try their $21 cornbread for over a year now... it was fine but nothing outstanding to me! Not sure if I came in with really high expectations but my friends loveddd it. Interestingly salty but also sweet from the honey on top, with bits of jalapeño pepper inside. Menu is seasonal with farm-to-table ingredients, so everything tasted fresh and earthy. The smoked trout dip & farmer's market salad were my favorite dishes, both surprisingly more flavorful than I expected. Sadly the short rib was too salty and needed more of the layered potato to balance it out - also $52 for a very small portion was overpriced in my opinion. Another thing to note was the hostess at the front was quite snarky and gave us attitude when we very kindly asked if they had matchboxes (I collect them). Even after I said "no worries thank you" very nicely, she gave my entire group a very condescending look, so that left a sour taste at the end of our dining experience. Would most likely not return.

04-2026 I've been to Hatchet Hall before and had great experiences, but unfortunately, this most recent visit felt like a step back. While the flavors were there, the service and pacing left our party of three feeling like an afterthought. The Service: We were seated promptly for our reservation, but then the experience hit a snag. We sat for quite a while without anyone greeting us, even as I watched other waiters warmly welcoming tables nearby. I eventually had to flag down a busser just to get someone to come over. When our server did arrive, her attitude felt rushed and a bit off. While she warmed up as the evening progressed, the initial cold start definitely rubbed me the wrong way. The Food: The menu still has its highlights. The cornbread is always a hit, and we enjoyed the butter lettuce wedge, market greens, and grilled mushrooms. For sides, we had the mashed potatoes and fries, eventually finishing with the apple crumble, which were all solid. However, the kitchen pacing was completely non-uniform. My party's dishes came out well ahead of mine, and the dry-aged ribeye arrived last, after a noticeably long wait. It's hard to enjoy a group dinner when the main course arrives after the sides have already been sitting there. Final Thoughts: I still tipped 25% because I know it's a team effort, but this wasn't the same high-level experience I've had here in the past. The food is still good, but between the service gap and the awkward timing of the ribeye, I'm not sure how I feel about coming back.

Went to have brunch over at Hatchet Hall. Aesthetic wise, I was super excited because the place looked so cute. My girlfriend planned a little brunch date for our anniversary, so I was pretty psyched. When we came in, we were greeted by a great host. He asked if we were celebrating our anniversary, congratulated us, and asked where we'd like to be seated. I asked for his recommendation, and we ended up in the middle section between the indoor dining area and the outdoor patio. Great choice, by the way! Our server was amazing. He greeted us, wished us a happy anniversary, brought us complimentary champagne, gave us his menu recommendations, and was warm and welcoming the entire time. Little touches like that definitely made the experience feel special. We ordered the cornbread, the breakfast sandwich, and a side of breakfast potatoes. The cornbread wasn't really my forte. To be fair, I've never had cornbread before, and it was a little too buttery for my taste. My girlfriend, on the other hand, really enjoyed it. I'd give it a 3/10. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. It had a great sauce, and the sausage had amazing flavor. My only complaint is that the sausage was thiccc, but overall I'd still give it a solid 9/10. The breakfast potatoes were amazing. No complaints here at all. They were perfectly seasoned, packed with flavor, and honestly didn't even need a sauce to complement them. The mimosas were generous too. One and done, if you know what I mean. Overall, it was a great experience. The staff made us feel celebrated, the atmosphere was beautiful, it was LGBTQ+ friendly, and I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu.

Tried Hatchet Hall for Sunday brunch, and it was so pleasant. They have a gorgeous antique style interior, amazing service and super friendly staff. It was my friend's bday and they also brought us two glasses of champagne on the house. The Chilaquiles was so yummy and well made, i definitely recommend everyone to try it.

My new favorite restaurant in Los Angeles! Since this review, I have been to this restaurant twice due to how amazing the food is. Firstly, I came for dinner on a Saturday night and it's absolutely beautiful inside. I loved the dim lighting and the lights which create a truly romantic experience. Service was great and our servers were amazing. They explained the menu throughly and explained how the items were family style. For drinks, we ordered the pong express which was delicious. For food, we ordered the cornbread, the cat fish bites, the blackened chicken, the carrots and the mashed potatoes. Everything was super delicious and the portions were great. Definitely recommend for any occasion!

Service: We checked in for our reservation with the young man at the front, who asked whether we'd prefer to sit inside or outside. I initially said inside, but when we got there, I gave him the look of uncertainty and admitted, "I lied... can we sit outside?" We both laughed, and I appreciated that he immediately read the room and smiled before saying yes. He brought us out and even let us choose between two open tables, instant 10/10 service from him. Our host was petite and incredibly sweet. She let us know right away that the cornbread takes a little time to prepare, so we could order it first while browsing the menu. Naturally... we ordered the cornbread immediately. She checked on us every 10-15 minutes, and the entire staff was impressive throughout the night. My water glass never once went empty, and the two gentlemen clearing tables made sure our glasses stayed full and any finished plates disappeared promptly. I love that level of attentiveness. And mind you--Hatchet Hall was completely full when we visited, yet the service never skipped a beat. Outdoor seating is a must, though I may be biased because I love plants (lol). It was also just a beautiful evening. Our Food: Little Gem Caesar - A fantastic salad topped with a generous amount of aged parmesan. I love cheese, so the more the merrier. Crispy Brussels Sprouts - This fell slightly short for me. They were a bit overcooked and lacked the crunch I was hoping for, though the walnuts helped add some texture. Still a solid dish overall. Mashed Potatoes - Creamy, rich, and delicious. My husband paired these with his steak and had zero regrets. 45-Day Dry Aged Ribeye - Incredibly tender. The steak sauce elevated it even further and tied the whole dish together beautifully. Slow-Cooked Lamb Shank - For some reason I expected this to be small... it was not. The portion was huge, the flavors were incredible, and the lamb was every bit as tender as the ribeye. Hatchet Hall officially has my heart. Between the exceptional service and memorable food, this place absolutely delivered.

Do they do take-out orders since it says they're not exactly kid friendly to dine in?

At this time we do not accept Togo orders.

Is the cornbread available to order for dinner? I only see it on the brunch menu.

We had it at dinner not too long ago.

Does anyone know about a corkage fee?

$35 per 750mL bottle / maximum two bottles.

Do you have brunch menu since I can't find it on your website?

Sunday Brunch menu selections change, week-to-week; owing to availability/provisioning at the Farmer's Market.

What are the vegan options? I see dairy included on all the veggie dishes listed.

We came on a late Monday afternoon and, lucky for us, they have a bar special on Mondays: No corkage fee! They also have Happy Hour-- Monday to Friday from 3-6pm. The Chardonnay was divine! I would totally return and purchase another bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie board and took advantage of their happy hour special for $20 (pick two-- one cheese and one meat). We opted for the 'Humboldt Fog' Chèvre as our cheese option and the Bresaola for our meat option. Both were delicious, but the chèvre was truly exquisite. We shared one charcuterie board with five people and it was enough; however if you're on the hungry side, I suggest two charcuterie boards for five or six people. In addition to meat and cheese, it comes with crackers, some pickled veggies, onion jam, candied nuts, whole grain Dijon, and apple slices. On the left side of the venue you have your variety of wine options; on the right side, there's the bar and some tables, plus a small area with other snacks for purchase that pair nicely with wine or beer. They even sell the Torres truffle chips! My only complaint is the service, unfortunately. The lady at the cashier was super friendly, however the bar tender was not so welcoming. When he came over to our table to open our wine bottle, he didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. He took our bottle and opened it and then asked who was going to taste. Not sure if he thought we didn't speak English since we were speaking another language when he came to our table, but overall, we all noticed his attitude and thought it was rather unwelcoming. Because of this experience, I rate this place a 4/5, however, everything else was great!
