I'm really disappointed with our experience at Haywire. We came in to celebrate two birthdays and have family visiting, but unfortunately, the slow and inattentive service completely overshadowed the occasion. Our food took forever to arrive, and the waiter barely checked on us. My sister's dish came out wrong, and she had to wait even longer after it was sent back, only to end up eating her food cold while everyone else had finished. My fiancé asked for steak sauce, and it took an additional 30 minutes to bring it out--by the time it arrived, her food was already cold. To top it off, our waitress never even brought us the check; we had to ask the manager to take care of it. Overall, the service was a letdown and really ruined what should have been a special brunch. read more

I was so excited to check this place out and left highly disappointed. I had my parents and in my laws for my 30th birthday dinner and the service was horrible, I ordered a steak and came out at wrong temp., by time it was fixed my parents had to leave as they came from out of town and I had to get it to go. We were never offered dessert or anything. The manager was very nice to get my steak corrected but I had to ask the server twice to speak with a manager. I had been waiting for this place to open for a while. Took the family there last week to have dinner and was utterly disappointed. I know it is a new place and the quirks need to be ironed out but not the food quality. First of all service although friendly was very slow. It took a while to get water, our server took a very long time to come by to get appetizer order, and even then I ordered the Ceviche and they were out of it? Interesting. I ordered the tortilla soup and they never brought it. Our apps and meal came out at the same time. I ordered a medium rare bone in ribeye (16-18oz) and it was well done. Returned it and the next one they brought was such poor quality, I can buy a better steak at Outback. It was 1/2 inch thick, fatty and worst of all it had a lot of gristle. For a $60+steak, this was ridiculous. My son ordered their prime rib and to tell you the truth, Lubys has a better tasting dish. This piece was also fatty and had Zero flavor. The ambience and location are amazing. Decor is spot on and their drinks were great. Food quality was subpar at best and their service was slowwww. Very disappointed. We had an exceptional dining experience at Haywire, and Jocelyn was a significant part of what made it so memorable. From the moment we were seated, she greeted us with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm. Jocelyn's service was impeccable; she was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our drinks were always topped up and our needs promptly met. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and her recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our dining experience. Jocelyn's friendly demeanor and professional attitude created a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. It's clear that she genuinely cares about her guests' experiences. We tried the Chef's favorite 4, onion rings were delicious, as were the elk tacos. Great start when you get there Wife and I split the prime rib and shared the Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese. All were tasty. Jocelyn recommended the chimichurri rice and it was worth the try. Drinks we tried were the Haywire and the Texas Mule, both recommend. First time at Haywire last night and def won't be my last! Wow! First, the restaurant is beautiful! Ambiance is really nice, a relatively quiet restaurant. Second, the food omg! The crab dip is a MUST, best crab dip I've ever had! Also the drinks amazing drinks but be careful, they're kinda strong lol. Absolutely underwhelming! Let's start with the "okay". Food was okay. I had the chicken fried chicken and my wife had the meatloaf. The meatloaf was a tad dry but the poblano salsa really helped to add moisture back into the bite and it was also really delicious. I also tried the Haywire Old Fashioned and it was fantastic. Super smooth... Now to the "not so good". We walked in at 7:11pm. The hostesses were pretty dismissive towards our request for a table. One quickly informed us that they didn't have any openings and we could sit at the bar - but with an attitude that suggested she didn't care if we stayed or left. We immediately sat at the bar and were ignored for a solid 5 to 7 minutes. There was no one behind the bar... We were finally greeted, got menus, then the bartender disappeared again. When she finally came back awhile later she hesitantly asked if we'd like to order drinks like she was confused about our intentions. I got a drink finally - while sitting at the bar, at 7:25. What kind of bartender takes 14 minutes to get around to the main point of the job with only 5 or 6 people sitting there? The kind who spends more time not behind the bar. We were there for over an hour and I'm pretty sure that between the 2 bartenders working (another bartender showed up about half way into our meal), someone was behind the bar for probably less than 30 minutes. A drink took 14 minutes. Our food took about 20 minutes - totally reasonable, and our desserts seemed to take something closer to 30 minutes. When we were ordering dessert we didn't even get a chance to order coffee or anything else before the bartender walked off. So this is a long winded way of saying, while the food might be okay, the service and attitudes could use some serious improvement. I didn't feel like they were trying at all to offer us a positive experience. As an aside, when they present the bill they start with a 20% tip option - which I'd be okay with if I received even reasonable service. But they also are asking you to tip on the tax, which is not the standard. So check your bill. read more

Food and ambiance is good. Service is supper slow, especially going there for lunch. Also, I think they should have some kind of chips or bread, or nuts, something to snack on while waiting for the food. I know they just opened the new location, but they need to work on a few things to make it run smoother. Waiting for somebody to take your order and waiting for the food is something they really need to improve. read more

Reservation at 1:00 finally got seated 1:20. Took 15 minutes to get water. It's now 2:00. Only 2 out of 10 served so for. Person you got venison tacos doesn't like it. It was sent back. Other person got ceviche's and it smells horrible it's now 2:10 and no one else served. Even though valet says you can notify them you're ready to leave it still took 7 minutes to get car. The Atmosphere is very nice. The valet parking attendant was clueless and tried to give us another car when we were leaving. The front door receptionist was also clueless. The very first 2 people made a bad impression. When we got upstairs the seating hostess was running around trying to get menus and get us seated. The crab dip was amazing but it was recommended to put blacken shrimp on top which was a mistake. The blackened shrimp were over-cooked. The blue berry rolls were hard. We also got the eggs and bacon which had no flavor. We ordered a Bloody Mary but by the time we got it we were paying and leaving. We were really disappointed and may not ever go back. They need to work on the staff and weed out the people breathing on a mirror and get some experienced people or they will not make it. I've been to Haywire 3 times and now decided to write this review after a horrible experience. Visit #1 - August 2024 - for my birthday - dinner was lovely and food was cooked well. Great service overall, which made me come back a second time. Visit #2 - September 2024 - my nephews birthday - took 1.5 hours to get our food at lunch on a Thursday around 1:30PM..extremely disappointed with terrible slow service. Manager did not come by to make things right. Visit # 3 - October 2024 - Going away party for friends - burger meat was raw - I ate about half the burger realizing something was off and the waiter said I should've said something. Well, if he was attentive at the table he would've seen me trying to waive him down. I waived down another worker who told me they could remove this from the bill and give us a dessert on the house. Where is the chef/kitchen protocols on uncooked beef? I'm going to contact the Health Department tomorrow about this - gross negligence and oversight. Our bill was nearly $100 and I work hard for my money so I feel robbed. I've now come to Haywire 3 times and 2 out of those 3 have been terrible. What are you going to do to fix your terrible service and undercooked food? Feel free to reach out to me directly because I am trying to give you honest feedback. First time at Haywire for Sunday family lunch - it was delicious!! Everything from the onion rings, to steak salad, to ribs, and finally homemade chocolate cake! LT was our server and did a wonderful job, they even gave my son a treat to go for free. Highly recommend; great ambience, great service and delicious food! Haywire dropped the ball with many things for my reservation for a 30th bday party. I won't mention some of these things because the REAL manager Christos made everything right eventually when he heard about what happened during our visit. I'm still writing this review because Alyssa one of the "managers" initially heard about the things that went wrong during our reservation, gave us a fake smile, and said she would be back to talk to us and then NEVER came back. We saw her walking around and avoiding us and told our waiter to give us the check. She was very rude and unprofessional. This review would get one star if Christos didn't save the day. Also the valet guys were so nice and made our group laugh a ton while we waited for our car! read more

I saw the buzz for this place and had to check it out. What started out very promising unfortunately ended up crashing and burning. Walking in, the ambiance and decor is very nice; they clearly spent time and money creating it. The queso and chips were great as an appetizer, and that's where it stopped. The burger bun was crumbly -possibly from staleness- and dry and disintegrated while eating the burger, which was cooked well done instead of medium well. It also wasn't particularly well seasoned. The fries were also dry and lacked seasoning and salt. One of my friend's burgers came out with cold fries (despite the lengthy wait) and when asked to replace them, they finally came at the end of the meal. A decent server would've immediately removed it from the bill and then offered some sort of concession, but not this one. He then promoted the pecan pie as their number 1 dessert, which ended up having a crust hard enough to break a tooth on and unpleasant flavor. I think that was stale too. Barely any of it was eaten. I'm not quite sure how the burger, fries, and pecan pie passed quality control to make it on to the menu to be served to patrons, but management and investors need to do intervene. Yes, the restaurant looks nice, but the food has to catch up. I recommend elsewhere until it does. read more

We were in town from Austin to look at a car at a nearby dealership and searched yelp for an open restaurant close by for a late lunch/early dinner. Haywire came up and I'm so glad it did. I saw tacos & chicken fried steak on the menu and I was in! We were seated immediately and I ordered the Haywire & he got the whiskey ginger. Our server Kailea was ready to walk us through the menu, but we already knew what we wanted. Elk tacos, chicken fried steak, and the chipotle meatloaf. The elk tacos were phenomenal, my chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had (watch out for those mashed potatoes-I swear there was a whole stick of butter in them. Yum!), and his chipotle meatloaf was exceptional. I don't know how they made it as juicy as it was. We each had a glass of wine and finished everything off with the crossaint bread pudding. What a lovely meal! The service was fantastic and we're looking forward to a location opening up in Austin! read more

I went last Saturday for a birthday dinner but did not have reservations (recommended), so instead sat at the bar and had a fantastic meal with excellent service. Haywire has a great vibe with modern/western decor. We shared an entree and a couple of appetizers and drinks. All very good. Steak was perfect and the Elk tacos fantastic!!! Great drinks and drink menu. You can have a full meal at the bar. The service is excellent. Delenta S. will take care of you at the bar and make sure your meal and drinks are very enjoyable.
