    Currywurst with beyond sausage

If you're looking for a spot of German fare in upstate New York, look no further! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is very welcoming, and feels like you're in Bavaria enjoying a stein with a brezel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the fried pickles, currywurst, German sampler, German upside down chocolate cake, and tons of beer. Everything was very good, however the sides of red cabbage and potato salad were on the very sour side. My husband, who's of German descent, pointed this out to me and I had to agree. We've also been to Germany, ate our way from Frankfurt to Berlin, and did not recall having cabbage or salad with those sour notes. Loved the German chocolate upside down cake and the beer offerings! Service was amazing and everyone was very friendly and awesome. We will def be returning to hopefully sit outside when it's not monsooning.

My son moved to Saratoga from NYC, where we have some excellent German restaurants. He found this place in Queensbury and we had our annual Oktoberfest dinner there (since I was actually in Munich in late Sept for Oktoberfest and couldn't host him at our place). [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant was great. Small and unassuming (not a lot of seats so def make a reservation) but the beer was fresh so they must keep their taps clean, and meine Schweinhaxe was excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fell off the bone, juicy, with just enough fat and crispiness. Pan seared spaetzle was excellent. I will definitely go back, even though I live in the Bronx.

Hubbie and I ordered veal and pork schnitzel combo plates. Pounded super thin and cooked perfectly. I had the sauerkraut on the waitresseses recommendation and it was tasty. Caraway seeds but not too much. We'll be back.

We've been for both lunch and dinner here and haven't been disappointed by our overall meals, but usually there's one or two things that just didn't go right. Today, we stopped in for lunch. I ordered a Caesar salad, my Nana got the crab cakes, and my Poppi order the specialty wrap, a salmon one that promptly fell apart out the bottom when he picked up the first half of the wrap. He ended up eating it with a fork and knife. My salad was well dressed and the croutons were tasty, a nice seasoned brown bread. My Nana's crab cakes were good, but she didn't care for the mixed greens they were served on. For the three of us, we paid just $40 for lunch and that included nearly an $8 tip. Our server was great, but we were literally her only table; no one else was in there when we stopped in for lunch around 11:15ish today, so it's hard to have bad service when it's just you and the waitress in the dining room. Also it can get busy here, especially for dinner or after the first round of daytime golfers finish up. So be prepared to wait if you come during those times.

You'll also get great descriptions of everything from the awesome Chefs and maybe get to try something extra too. I recommend using the reservation system on their website and specify your seating preferences. You can choose from the Chef's Counter, the bar, a high-top table, a low table, or an outdoor table (weather permitting). We also appreciated them asking about food allergies on the reservation system too and they verified it when we arrived. We were so impressed with the unique menu options that are offered in the appetizers, small shareable plates, main courses, desserts, and drinks. We are already planning on coming back Sunday for brunch and know we'll be back again soon for dinner.

They start you off with some warm fresh bread and butter that you have to be careful to not fill up on. We shared the truffle fries (if you like thousand island dressing you might like the sauce but it does have a kick to it), sushi roll, and a few large beet salads for the table. Salads were good and plentiful and I liked the dressing. I appreciate that Bistro Le Roux offers smaller and larger portions options for each of their mains. As this is not the norm at most American restaurants, it was a a little unclear to us whether that meant they are sharing plates or not but because most other restaurants give you too much food, ordering a small seems like a reasonable strategy unless you are either A) very hungry or B) sharing with a few members of your party. It's not cheap but this could be a good way to try different dishes. I tried the lobster risotto which was super creamy and came with a reasonable (but not overly generous ) amount of fresh lobster. The corn risotto was very good although it seemed like they had this same thing for a number of their menu items. My wife had the avocado crab salad dish, which was ok (my daughter commented that it was needlessly "fancy"), but the crab on its own would have been better. She thought her risotto was a little undercooked. We also got the corn chowder which was ok but lacked any real flavor and didn't feel worth the stomach space. The tomato bisque, a long-time staple of their menu, was much better and we really enjoyed it. For dessert we had the lava cake which was very rich and good. My son had a plain vanilla scoop, which came with his kid's meal (steak and fries).
