I just ate a bacon cheeseburger at this location. I do like their burgers, but be prepared to not see prices anywhere, at the drive through and even if you go inside, like I did. Their website says a bacon cheeseburger is $5.49 but they charged me a total of $10.25, for the burger only. This has happened to me multiple times before, and it's why even though their burgers are great, I seldom patronize this establishment. cozy little restaurant it's not a dive, but it's not classy either. Has several TVs in the dining area and fountain drinks to choose from. The service was excellent and I got my food promptly. The fries were cooked to perfection, and my bacon cheeseburger was heavenly, first bite, I was met with a burst of overwhelming flavor. These guys have perfected their hamburgers. Stopped by Hercules Burger for some breakfast today. I should say I've been coming here when it was known as Dukes back in the day and the staff and the food were terrific back then. I've continued to eat here occasionally since the name change and today I noticed it seems to be a little aged. Like me lol. The benches were a little ripped and worn and the table and chairs had seen better days. I also noticed the benches and tables needed a serious wipe down as there were crumbs and other food debris on them. Management needs to look into refreshing the look. Now, the food was delicious as usual and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and the nice young lady checked in on the seated customers with coffee pot in hand. This place is alway busy. It's our got to stop on the weekends for breakfast. I will be honest carne asada fries are amazing but not all there food is great. It's a hit or miss. We do drive thru all the time. But is frustrating that the speaker really doesn't work. It needs to be fix. The employees can't hear you and literally you have to yell on it and repeat your order several times so they can hear you. With all business they get you would thing they'd fix the speaker but they don't. Though it's drive thru the team members are great when you get to the window. Family was driving down the street looking for a charbroil burgers. Noting that my wife and I seek these places out as they can be similar mom and pop places with varying levels of quality. We are always looking for a gem and our standards are pretty high given our passion for these types locations and have been to over 50 of these charbroil burger restaurants all over Southern California. The Outside was clean and upgraded. It was night and we felt safe with kids in parking lot - a plus. Happy to see the inside was also very clean and updated. My wife is picky about this stuff while I am not. The young man at the register was friendly and efficient. He welcomed us and let us know the restaurant is family run - his parents own this and other locations. We ordered some jr burgers for the kids, a couple of bacon cheeseburgers burgers, a large chili cheese fry plate, and grabbed a booth. They serve you at this location and that is a plus as well. Chili fries came out first - they were very very good. Fries were crispy under the chili... and the chili itself was really good. Next came the burgers - which were solid. So we have a great experience with zero complaints on a random stop of all things. We will be coming back after this experience. The food is decent but this place is scummy and greedy. Online it says the JR 5 pack is $14.99. My husband ordered it for us tonight for dinner and they charged us $26. I get it, prices have gone up recently everywhere but at least update the menu prices online. They just always seem to overcharge and never be upfront about it. But I ordered a gyro sandwich, which had the most peculiar slices of meat, hardly any dressing... small curly fries... which were a huge portion, can't imagine what the large size is... but they simply weren't good; and an iced tea, which was peach flavored (I wasn't told and don't like) and it was barely cold, hardly any ice. I'm sorry... but with better choices out there, any times not getting any better... places like this are going to have to figure out how to keep customers. Great local restaurant for any meal. Located right off of E Chapman and near the Stater Bros supermarket, there's plenty of parking. Hercules offers in dining or drive thru. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and some great specials to feed a family on a budget (5 jr burgers, fries and soda for $20 or 5 regular burgers, fries and soda for $30). We don't eat breakfast very often so today we ordered a carne asada burrito and club sandwich (both $9.99 each). The staff was really friendly and food came out within 7 minutes. The carne asada burrito was simple. I have still yet to find an amazing carne asada burrito in this area. My husband said the club was fine. This place is a absolutely GEM! I always check to make sure the bathrooms are clean, they are spotless. The staff is clean, polite, and well dressed. The restaurant is clean, good atmosphere, pleasant people, clean chefs, polite cashiers( except for 1 lady with glasses, she's rude and a little off) The pictures of the food here doesn't do this restaurant justice, it is so good! They use fresh ingredients, real meat, and the cook properly cooks and cleans everything. I'm so glad I found this gem in O.C. I was getting worried I wouldn't find anything good. I would not recommend at all, came here to eat with my friend and I asked for a Double Cheeseburger lettuce wrapped for myself and the girl behind the register charged me for a Combo meal. As I'm going to my table I noticed on my receipt and went back to the counter and told the lady who rang me up and she said "oh you didn't want a combo?" That small size of curly fries was like sharing size of those large ziploc m&m candy bags you see at your local grocer. So you're getting a lotta bang for your buck. And guess what?! *gasps in excitement* They have a drive thru menu and window. Super convenient for you order and zoom zoom outta there. So did I like the place? Yes, yes I did. Being completely honest, I have friends who live nearby the location and they claimed that it was delicious and I normally trust their judgment in food spots. Unfortunately, Hercule's website has no email address listed so I have to leave a review instead. The last 3 visits to the Orange location, have gotten worse & worse every time. Today I ordered a large fries crispy. I was charged for a large fry. In the past, a large fry crispy was a good size & crunchy worthy of the price. What I received today was half the size of a large I'd received a month ago. The fries were limp & greasy. Nothing like what I ordered. This location in Orange has continually raised their prices & now they are decreasing their portions but charging too much for what they now serve. Eventually, customers will figure things out & they will be forced to change the restaurant name again. Several years back this same location changed its name from DUKE'S to Hercule's & didn't change the menu items. Duke's customer reviews dropped to one so the name was changed to Hercule's. Basically, changing the restaurant's name is like pushing the reset button & those terrible customer reviews disappear with the old name. read more

I used to love this place! My mom would take my family often, the employees were nice and the orders were actually decent. Unfortunately, this place has really gone downhill. Today, I had a really bad experience. I went through the drive thru and immediately was told to hold on a minute. I usually don't mind as they might be preoccupied. Although, 5 minutes had past and there was not a single car in the drive thru since I arrived so the lady eventually responded. As soon as I began my order, she told me to speak up to the point where I had to yell at the top of my lungs for her to hear me. She then had a bad disposition about me yelling when it was the only way she could actually hear me. All I ordered was a plate of fries and she told me the total. As I arrived to the window, the lady didn't have to guts to talk to me face to face and sent another guy. The total was now $1 more than the original price the lady had told me. He asked me if I wanted any sides and I asked for ranch. While I waited for him to hand me my food, all the cooks from inside were giving me nasty looks. Not only when I arrived home did they NOT give me a plate of fries (it was a small side), but they gave me one ranch. Who only uses one ranch? Maybe if they treated their customers like humans instead of a means to a paycheck, they'd get more business. I guess the name Duke sounded too modern, so ownership renamed the store to appeal to classics scholars and fans of antiquity. The decor appears to have a similar intent. Images of the Parthenon and white statuesque people posing or throwing a discus cover much of the available visual field. None of these things, objects or ideas make me think of food, and Hercules is not a Greek restaurant, etc. So why Hercules? Because Hercules is less than a full blown sit down diner but more than a drive thru. Burgers here are usually juicy and the veggies always have that refreshing, crisp snap. On this particular Hercules outing I ordered a chocolate milkshake. The milkshake quality here is epic. Each shake delivers a straw full of rich and lasting chocolate flavor. The iced cream sustains a silky smooth consistency on every sip. $5 gets one plenty of shake to shake a shake at. Finishing one of these treats is a Herculean labor of love. Hands down best diner in town my faves, zucchinis & onion rings, freshly breaded each day , not frozen .,gyros are really good, steak fajita pita or chicken pita are to die for. I'm sad to post this really, as the service has always been so very friendly, but i just had the worst experience. While waiting for my breakfast burrito ( no meat), i was standing at the counter and saw the cook on the right side with all of the ready to eat ( cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, tortillas etc) reach under the counter in small refrigerator and pull out 2 raw bloody steaks with his bare hands, place them on the grill, and immediately put his contaminated hands on a fresh tortilla and reach in and grab a bare handful of cheese for my egg burrito. i watched the cashier grab it and i said," he just handled RAW meat and did not use gloves, or tongs, he did not WASH HIS HANDS and proceeded to handle food"! She apologized, asked if i wanted another one, but.. as we were talking, he continued making food with his disgusting hands. I asked if she could tell him to was his hands or put on gloves - she said they were busy and he is just trying to get food out. I mentioned health and safety of everyone - and she apologized again, but did nothing. Food borne illnesses are a real thing and those with autoimmune issues are extremely susceptible .. it's just really disappointing - it shouldn't matter how busy a restaurant is. Health and protection of their customers should come first. E. coli warnings are posted on their restaurant walls regarding the dangers of undercooked foods! I really want to live this place and usually the food is really good... but every once in awhile I get something like the fish and chips I ordered that was so burnt I couldn't eat it. That being said I love their fried mushrooms and pineapple shakes and their burger deal is really good and you get a lot of food. Had their Hercules omelette and I pretty much licked the plate clean! Best omelette I ever had! Have had better luck eating in than going through the drive thru, but most of the people there are super nice and friendly and the place is very clean. Last week, after I picked up some med from Walgreens for my daughter (who just had her wisdom teeth surgically removed). I thought chicken noodle soup sounds great so I went to order just that. I said I'll take 2 order of chicken soup. Total $11 & some change. Normally the soup only cost $3.99 each. Btw, they also add a service fee on my bill. But it was ok & I waited for 15mins. Then I asked about my soup. The lady worker told me they are heating it up really hot & good for me because it was frozen (frozen?!?) I told her hopefully it will be good because about half a year ago, I ordered one soup, & when I got home it was spoiled. About 7mins later my soup is ready for me to take home. But I couldn't even make it to my car, the paper bag ripped, one of the cups fell off and spilled on the ground, some on my foot shoes & pants. The soup wasn't hot at all. It was cold!!! I was glad I didn't get burned but so mad that they lied to me & made me waited for 20+ mins for cold soup. And what were they thinking to put soup into 3 teeny tiny water cups??? The regular fries are great but don't forget to try the chili-cheese and carne-asada fries. Also, it's typically not advertised but you can also sub out regular fries with curly fries. It's got that small, "hole in the wall" classic burger-joint taste and feel to everything on the menu! This place puts In-N-Out to shame, no comparison.
