For my first time trying HeyTea, I decided to order for pickup through the app because I know how busy it can get. I placed my order around 2:30PM, and it said about a 6 minute wait. I was on-site around 2:40PM. No hi, hello, welcome. Not sure if they're understaffed, or if it's a slower day, but I only saw two ladies from where I was standing in the front by the register. On the top left wall, by the entrance doors, there's a TV displaying orders "Served" and "Working On". I assumed "Served" meant they were ready for pickup, as my order number was there and my app said it was ready for pickup. However, there were many order numbers under "Served" (in-app orders, on-site orders, and delivery, I assume) and I barely saw any drinks on the counter. After about 5-7 minutes, I went to the bobarista after she had just finished taking someone's order, and asked if my order was ready. Turns out my drinks were the ones she had just completed, so I'm not sure how accurate the TV or the app is. It's also super small and tight inside. So if you see a long line outside, that's most likely all the people waiting to order and pick up. Just the counter to order and 1 kiosk inside. It was also pretty hot (on a hot day). HeyTea's drinks are pretty unique but also pricier than other regional competitors. Almost $10 with toppings, not including tip. I'd probably be back for seasonal drinks, once in a while, but the lack of initiative for interacting with customers was a bit disappointing. Parking is pretty easy. There's a whole underground garage for the plaza. There's also an 80-minute green zone street parking right in front of HeyTea. The most popular drinks seem to be the Mango Coconut Boom (coconut mango sago) variations, but I was really interested in the Matcha Cloud Jasmine Latte since I just had mango coconut sago at another boba place earlier in the day. Here's what I ordered/tried: 1) Matcha Cloud Jasmine Latte, less sweet: 7/10. Honestly not my favorite drink. The cashier recommended less sweet since she said this drink tends to be sweet. The cloud layer is cheese foam, which was slightly salty and bitter from the matcha powder on top. I didn't love the flavor of the cheese foam, and when mixed into the matcha, it honestly just tasted like a watered-down matcha that wasn't worth the $7.49 I paid. I wouldn't order this again. 2) Mango Grapefruit Boom: 8/10. Solid choice when coming here. Not too sweet and it is refreshing, but I think there are other boba places in the 626 that have better Mango Coconut Sago. I'm not particularly a fan of the puree portion as the solid bits get in the way of drinking. But that's also just me, others may enjoy it. There was already a line forming on a Wednesday morning around open at 11am. Once the doors opened, the ordering process went quickly. I ordered the Cloud Mulberry Strawberry, Crisp Grape Boom, Mango Grapefruit Boom, and Coconut Mango Boom. It took about 30 minutes for my order to be completed, which is quite a while for being one of the first 5 customers in line. There were a lot of staff members working that day. The Cloud Mulberry Strawberry had great flavor. The strawberry didn't overpower the mulberry and we enjoyed that we can taste the mulberry. The fresh mulberries in the drink were a plus. The Crisp Grape Boom was a disappointment. It tasted like grape juice that can be bought from a grocery store but with a much higher price tag. The Mango Grapefruit Boom and Coconut Mango Boom were both good. They feel more like a dessert than a drink, but we enjoyed them. The grapefruit in the Mango Grapefruit Boom helped to cut through the sweetness and add pops of flavor. We liked the use of fresh mangos in the drinks. Overall, giving HEYTEA a 3.5/5. The ingredients are high quality and fresh, but these drinks are quite pricey. We were disappointed in the Crisp Grape Boom. The interior is light, bright, and modern, but really only has standing room to order and wait for your order. There are no tables or chairs inside or outside. The staff seem friendly, but a bit disorganized and inefficient. There were a lot of drinks waiting to be bagged and given to people but it seemed like orders were missing one drink of each order which is likely why the wait time was a bit longer. I've been waiting for Heytea to officially open their doors since I saw they put their sign up. The shop itself is pretty small and doesn't have any seats. It took about 10 minutes from the time of ordering to actual pick up time. I got two drinks - the Crisp Grape Boom for the hubs and the Matcha Jasmine Latte for myself. This place could use a lot of logistic improvements. I went with a best friend the other day during lunch and granted it was on a holiday and very busy I get that, but I just don't think the architect thought about how the restaurant should be built. There's only one door and you have to order inside on a kiosk then wait in another line to pick up your drink so there's no real easy way to go in and out or even wait in line. We were definitely standing outside the door at one point. I also don't love that the staff wasn't calling out drink numbers or order numbers. They simply just waited till you got up, till it was your turn in line and asked what number drink you had. So at one point, we saw dozens of drinks just sitting on the counter waiting for their turn. I guess, I'm not sure. It really just didn't seem organized. I don't know that I'll go back on my own desire, but if a friend wanted to drag me there then sure otherwise I don't know if the hype is like worth that type of stress, there was a lot of angry people in line and several people were cutting. It just didn't seem very fun. I probably would think twice before going back or maybe do a drive-by on Atlantic to see how busy the line is. It is right off of the Atlantic curb so you should be able to see it, but I just don't think they did a great job building the place. Hopefully they'll get their act together. I'd be down to go visit again if they fix some of those service issues, but otherwise there's plenty of other places in SGV that are way more organized much larger inside and just have it altogether -- this would be a skip in my book. read more

Sooo yummy! I had the one in Irvine before so having one in the 626 is so convenient. I love the coconut mango boom and still want to try the grapefruit boom. For a small shop they pump out the drinks reasonably fast. Very clean inside but definitely not a spot where you can chill. read more

I've heard great things about Heytea and finally gave it a try. I ordered the Matcha Blue Cloud online for pickup, which made the process quick and easy. The drink was refreshing with a nice touch from the coconut bits, and I could really smell the jasmine tea aroma, which added to the overall ambiance. It made the experience feel even more enjoyable.
