Just recently changed their name from "Rising Sun" this is definitely one of the best places in town. They have a huge variety of choices ranging from veggie fried rice and custom options for sushi. You can't go wrong with anything you order, but anything "teriyaki" style is my favorite. If you go to the fried rice route, you will get an obscene amount of rice. They have "Yum yum" sauce and "Teriyaki" sauce to go with their food. If you are dining in, there are bottles on the table. (You'll want to make sure they are full because you will want to pour it on everything you order... it is that good!) An excellent selection of great food, reasonable prices, and good service that one should expect in a small town restaurant. The reviews for this place were so positive so I gave it a try. I picked up hibachi steak and scallops with mixed vegetables and fried rice. It was terrible. The steak was dry, tough and over cooked and the scallops tasted and smelled fishy. It was almost as if it had been boiled not seared. Plus it had no flavor. I also tried the Rising sun roll. The inside of the roll was great, the outside tempura was way too thick and doughy. The gentleman at the pick up window was extremely polite and wished me a blessed evening which I always appreciate. The food is pretty tasty, but the service here is extraordinary. We were dining in the night of the tornados. The staff made sure we would be safe. Then last night, I was by myself picking up a takeout order with my baby sleeping in his car seat. They told me I could've used their drive up window, which I didn't know about, but no worries, they'd be happy to help me get everything out to my car. Who does that these days? My wife and I are transplants from Los Angeles to Midlothian. We have had sushi from all the L.A. Hot spots, from Nobu to Tokyo Garden and this place rates right up there with them. I had the Texas Roll and 3 orders of the Yellow Tail Tuna. Delicious. And my wife had the Chicken Fried Rice and it was delicious also. Will be there many more times in the near future. read more

As a person who eats a lot of sushi... this place has it all. I went on the 8th and it wasn't crowded. The only thing that was confusing was entering the front. I didn't know if i had to order up front or go sit down. IAN was a lot of help. He was very helpful in informative. He explained what was in each roll and what we liked and gave us ideas. This place is well worth the drive! I make the trip from Austin to Dallas frequently and have tried many places along the way. The California roll and shrimp tempura were fantastic. We also sampled the steak hibachi grill. The steak portions were large and very tender. The service was superb. I made it a point to dig out some cash from my car to leave since their credit card machine doesn't have tipping options. If you are driving within a 15 miles radius it's worth a detour. read more

It is fairly decent as far as Asian food in Midlothian. I am still trying to find the perfect dish there, but so far I usually get the steak fried rice with vegetables added. It tastes pretty decent and not horribly priced either. The place is always packed and has a good selection of food options. A very surprising gem in midlothian. Has great hibachi style food and decent sushi. When I have a craving for Asian food, this is my new go to. The appearance of the building does take some getting used to, but once you get past the old dairy queen facade it is well worth the trip inside. I just visited the new hibachi place in town and overall I was very pleased. This was an old Dairy Queen but you could never tell from inside. Looks great inside. The staff was friendly and very attentive. The miso soup was delicious and authentic. The California roll with eel sauce on the side was really good. I also ordered the teriyaki chicken and all though the chicken and broccoli was cooked very well it actually had absolutely no teriyaki sauce or flavor. It was as if it was completely forgotten to be added. But again the chicken was cooked very well and the brown rice was great. I would recommend to anyone. read more

We live in Midlothian and took the family to eat here. My wife and I along with our two daughters thought we'd try it out since it was nearby. We waited over 30 min for food to come out. Yumyum sauce is flavorless. Hibachi was rice and chunks of meat. No veggies in fried rice or hibachi. 0...... The only thing that was edible was the salad. The only way I can see people giving this place five stars would be that they were starving at the time and had never eaten hibachi anywhere else to compare it to. In the future we will drive a few more minutes to get something filing and tasteful. Paid over $60 for our meal and drinks for two adults and two children to eat flavorless food on styrofoam... For a few more dollars we could have had an entertaining chef, silverware, and great food about ten minutes away. Never again... Total fail in every area. read more
