When we questioned this, the server casually mentioned the cinnamon syrup--something not disclosed on the menu. I had to specifically ask her to take one back rather than her responding promptly. Next, they brought our sushi rolls, but no plates, no soy sauce, and not even dishes for dipping. We had to ask for all those basics. I specifically chose two rolls without cream cheese--because I don't want cream cheese in my sushi--and yet one still had it. The server's response was to chat with a manager but not to offer any solution, compensation, or correction. Overall, if a menu lists certain ingredients, that's what should arrive. Adding things like cinnamon in a drink or cream cheese in a roll--especially when people might have dietary needs--is careless. They need to be more attentive to both the menu and the customer's feedback.

It was my first time trying the eel roll and I thought it was good. The California rolls were solid and my son enjoyed the gyoza potstickers. We came in on a Saturday around 3pm and the place was totally empty, but the staff was very nice and courteous when we entered to pick up our order. It took no time to put together and we enjoyed our sushi at home minus the fresh wasabi. It was also very clean in there. It wasn't too packed when I went, almost on the slower side for lunch, which honestly made the experience feel very relaxed. It's a really family-oriented, community-run type of place, and I'd actually love to see them get a little more lunch traffic because the quality is there. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it. Good thing the lighting was dim. The air was stagnant. Box fans on floor need to be cleaned and put to use. Also, using dining area to store overflow supplies (see pic). If this place is upscale, Waxahachie is in trouble. Secondly, I requested the combo fried rice ($13), which I was told included steak, chicken and shrimp, but was instead served the Hibachi combo dinner ($36), which included the same proteins and less fried rice. I suppose I should have noticed when the waitress asked if I wanted the soup and salad (which I never received, contributing to my confusion), but I dove right in when the food arrived. The food, especially the appetizers of vegetable tempura and gyoza (pan-fried) were tasty and well-prepared, that's why I 'm rating a 2 and not 1. When I received the bill and reported the misunderstanding, as well as the absence of soup/salad, I was merely offered soup/salad to go but chose instead tempura cheesecake (gross). Overall, food was decent, but service and ambiance were horrible. My advice: go to Hibachio down the street, see if you can pay an extra $20 to watch them cook your food, and you'll still come out way ahead.

As uncomfortable as it was, I politely pointed it out to the staff. They took the plate back but then returned with the exact same herbs, bugs still on them. Nothing had been replaced or addressed. After that, the atmosphere shifted and the staff acted noticeably uncomfortable, which made the situation even more awkward. To make matters worse, I later learned from someone who previously worked there that unused pho vegetables from other tables are reportedly reused. Whether that practice is consistent or not, combined with what I personally experienced, it raises serious concerns about food safety and hygiene. I can't in good conscience return, and I hope the restaurant takes these issues seriously. Cleanliness and proper food handling are non-negotiable.

On a more positive note, the ramen was hot, fresh, and flavorful. That dish was definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the restroom situation really took away from the experience. There was old, crusted yellow urine on the back of the toilet seats, and the soap dispenser was missing its spout, making it difficult to wash hands properly. Cleanliness, especially in the bathroom, is very important and needs immediate attention. With better consistency in food preparation and improved cleanliness, this place could be much better.
