We had a credit since we were staying here at the hotel and decided to get breakfast here to use it! If you are going for breakfast, you have to get the pancakes. They definitely could be the best pancakes we've ever had. They were so good. The rest of the breakfast was good too but those pancakes were stand out for sure. Lots of live music in the evening with a great vibe too.

Celebrated a birthday dinner here. For a party of 12, reservations are highly recommended. This restaurant is on the rooftop bar of The Laylow hotel, Waikiki. Serving Hapa cuisine and craft cocktails. Love their interior. Unfortunately it was raining when we were here so the lounge area was wet. Very laid back lanai vibes. They even had a live DJ. We made it to happy hour so we tried to order a little of everything on the menu to share. The Laylow Maitai was highly recommended, so we got a few of those. Crispy pork belly brussels sprouts - delish! Mainlander burger - good! Shrimp dumplings - okay. Truffle fries & Hideout fries - good! Chicken karaage - so good, got 2! Poke tacos - good! Kalbi beef plate - fave! For our keiki, she enjoyed their butter pasta. Honestly, I almost ordered one myself. Great dining experience. Friendly staff. Cost was reasonable since we made it to HH for half of our meal. Check it out!

Our go to spot for hotel and mai tais and all! Alvin, Jeremy and the amazing bartenders are always consistent and taking care of us! Food is amazing! Must try the Brussels sprouts. Ambiance is so cute at night. Live music every night.

Hideout is a nice large updated open space which you can access from the street by going up the escalator at the Laylow hotel. The decor is fresh and welcoming and offers a wide range of comfortable seating options. Servers and staff are calm, friendly and helpful. Hideout has one of the longest happy hours, daily 1-5pm, offering a wide selection of discounted foods and drinks.

10/10 experience. Customer service was on point and food/drinks came out quick. They had a musician playing live music which was very calming and since she was playing covers it was fun to guess what song it was. The food was exceptional. You can really taste the quality of the Wagyu patty, and the chili garlic sauce that came with the edamame was bangin, I put it on everything.

A true cocktail bar, with a decent enough kitchen attached to it. I wanted to talk with the bartenders about the drinks, be transported by the live music, and customize a couple cocktails for the mood I was in. The staff here is working hard. Many Waikīkī restaurants are staffed by people projecting and living the island vibe. Hideout's bartenders, highlighted by James and Jeremy, kept my club soda topped off while I wasn't looking, and listened to my drink feedback to pick the right bourbon and guide my food choices. They also had a regular in that night who visits 5X/year - they knew what she wanted and put in the order invisibly when she sat down. The espresso martini is not to be missed, and worth its "best of island" award. You also do need to try the Mai Tai here - flavorful, bold, and strong but not spirit-forward. With live music every night, it's tempting to stop by again and again. If I'd had better food it'd be a slam dunk recommendation. I was not about this play on spinach and artichoke dip that I got, but I ate it; they were definitely willing to swap it out if I'd insisted. That's good service. On my last night and third visit to the bar, Jeremy made a strawberry lily koi lemon drop just for me, based on my request for something "fruity and acidic". It was lights out.

There wasn't anything that I loved about this espresso martini, except the great server who brought it to me!

I was really disappointed on my first visit to The Hideout. The only reason I can give it 4*'s is due to the amazing service from Ciera and the lovely ambience. The food was tasty but the drinks were not... We ordered the warm beet salad, fries and the short ribs. Others ordered their burger, and enjoyed them! Sadly no one enjoyed their cocktails. My lemon drop martini tasted like watered down lemonade shaken with ice and a splash of vodka. Definitely didn't taste like fresh squeezed lemon juice! Not sure if this was just a bad night with their usual bartenders or new help, but we will try again.

Hideout has been my go to for years - since before I moved to Hawaii. I used to stay at the hotel a lot and got to know the bar tenders who were always super friendly and on top of things. Vibes are hard to beat. Only slight downside is the live music can be a bit too loud sometimes. Musicians are always great though. I always get the same thing - the Mo Bettah burger. I crave it when it's been too long. Their rotating cocktails are always spectacular and well balanced. The one I had last night (photo featured) was an ultraviolet and had a very unique flavor - very tasty.

Taro Veggie burger and spicy fries (back) and seasonal vegetables with tofu and noodles (front)... both were 10/10!!!

What a wonderful gem in the middle of busy Waikiki! Wish we had found it sooner so could have eaten there each night, ha As vegetarians we, surprisingly, haven't had the best luck with finding fresh and quality food in Honolulu... until we visited Hideout. It's above street level and is an open air concept with some tables fully covered from the sun, some semi covered, and other tables fully in the sun. The decor is modern and lush tropical with plants all over Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu and options. We felt so welcomed and relaxed in the lovely space I had the seasonal vegetables which came with noodles and ginger crusted tofu. It was so fresh and delicious! I added avocado, too. Would get this dish over and over if I lived here. My husband had the housemade taro veggie burger and the spicy seasoned French fries. He said it was one of the best veggie burgers he's ever had. The fries were also very good.., I may or may not have tried... many of them :) For drinks we had a non-alcoholic beer and an ice tea. While we didn't have a cocktail the bar was well stocked with quality liquors and the drinks they were making all looked great Will definitely be coming back next time we're in town!

Hideout has become one of my favorite little places to go in town. We always have a pleasant experience as the staff is always friendly. We typically sit at the bar and order food and drinks there. There can be a wait at times for tables, so if you're comfortable sitting at the bar, then I'd suggest that. FYI, the chairs at the bar don't accommodate those with larger hips as well as those that don't have the curves. The barstools are designed with a snugger metal backing/arm rest, so there isn't much room. I typically order the espresso martini, which is my favorite and you can't go wrong! We ordered the lamb chop, dumplings, and Thai noodles (spicy). Every dish was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the dumplings and lamb chop. I'm not a fan of spicy, but the flavor of the noddles was great. Looking forward to coming back!

Stumbled upon this "rooftop" bar in Waikiki after wanting some drinks after dinner. There was live music (really good!) and lots of lounge seating. We only waited about 5 minutes on a Wednesday night. Our waitress was very nice and helped us choose our drinks all night and didn't disappoint! We ordered a fried rice (not pictured), ube panna cotta (delish!) and a bunch of drinks! As yummy as everything was, we did pay a pretty penny for our bill. Along with a big group we had automatic gratuity added. We could have found a cheaper alternative but for what we had we did have a good time. I would return!

My husband and I strolled into the laylow for some evening drinks. We came here for babymoon I'm 5 months pregnant so naturally I'm not drinking. Our waiter asks if I'm drinking tonight and I tell him no because of the baby. He later asks if I've had any cravings I said yes I was looking for something chocolate but didn't see anything on the menu :( and I'd asked for decaf but they'd just ran out. I told him no biggie I was just enjoying the vibes:) He comes back with a Hershey bar from a convenient store and he tells me ran down there to get one for me and later comes back with decaf! Rylen is his name and he's the assistant manager. When I say this place is amazing I wish I could give it 10 stars. They also have amazing live music on Tuesday's. A must in Waikiki! read more

Definitely very trendy with retro-modern decor and great service. Perfect place to grab breakfast and take in the sun or to grab pau hana drinks. Really cool vibe in an intimate setting. It's always great when you can be in the middle of the city and feel like you're not. Would definitely come back to meet up with some friends. read more

Perfect! The vibe was totally right even on an overcast day. Sat at the bar to avoid the rain. Bartenders were super fun and chatty, fast at suggesting things to do/ eat/ see. Got down on a burger. Wish I had more time to come back in the sunshine and really utilize the deck. Basically if you want a beautiful, delicious, picturesque cocktail this is a perfect spot to start! (And if you're staying at the hotel I bet finish- haha!). I'll be back around next time for sure, gimme those Limes in the Coconuts! Mmm! read more

Went for lunch and sat at the bar with a buddy. we had the ahi tataki, chicken satay, guac/edamame dip and the brussel sprouts. The Chicken satay was very tasty, the ahi and dip were good, about what you would except for the location and price. However, the brussel sprouts with pork belly were exceptional. good enough to come back just for that. read more

Hands down, one of the best Macha lattes I have ever tasted! I love the atmosphere at this coffee shop and the welcoming environment I feel every time I visit! The barista Melany made my drink and even before ordering she was kind enough to ask how I was doing as well as suggest some great drinks to try out! I felt so cared of as a customer, and no doubt I will drive to Waikiki just to get my matcha made by her (hopefully she's working every time I visit!!) read more

This place is beautifully done with an awesome landscape. Seats outside are great. You don't feel so enclosed here. You can actually relax and eat or drink. The bar is great. Bartenders are usually really cool. Prices are not too bad. Restrooms are clean. Hotel is great apparently from what I have heard. Near many other places as soon as you come downstairs from the hotel on kuhio Avenue. Nice play for all times of the day. Great live musical talents. Can't complain about this place. Highly recommend. Just go. read more

Brand new ( April 2017 ) hip hangout called "Hideout" at the Laylow Hotel. We loved this place, the food was amazing and the cocktails very unique and tasty. The real icing on the cake is the hip trendy out door roof top bar and lounge complete with two "sandbox" fire pit areas. Feels like the islands meets Miami vibe. Our waitress Cassandra was a delight, high energy and very helpful. The handsome and friendly General Manager, Ben came over to introduce himself and thank us for coming. Overall a warm and inviting hideaway, we are sure it will become one of our new favorite places! read more

The Hideout is a new addition to Kuhio Ave. It is between the new International MarketPlace and the new Hyatt Centric Hotel, located on top of the renovated portion building (3rd floor) that used to house the "Big Kahuna" bar and restaurant and the Laylow Hotel (Marriott) is the renovated former Aqua Wave Hotel. There are escalators on the IMP side that will take you right to the restaurant and "open air" lanai seating. There are 2 fire pits on the lanai, one in each corner, and bench seating around 1/2 of one and 3/4 of the other. In between there are bench seats along the outside overlooking Kuhio and small tables and chairs inside of those. Nighttime views are the best on that lanai. They have an afternoon happy hour with several beers discounted. Indicative of the new surroundings (2 new hotels and the IMP) their regular prices are a little more expensive than many local restaurants/grills/bars but the quality of their pupus and food menu is tremendously high. I would highly recommend this location for an intimate gathering or a relaxing date. They also have a nice bar for solo or one-on-one meetings. Validated valet parking is available on the IMP side of the building with the 1st 3-4 hours free (but don't forget to tip the valets). There is nice mellow live music from 6-9PM. read more

I stood at the hostess stand for 5 minutes while man bun manager talked to the DJ while looking at me. Then he finally came over and sat us in the worst spot. I asked about sitting in a different section, but I was told it was reserved, but then we saw numerous people seat themselves in that section... The DJ blasting 90s music was kind of fun, although the speaker behind us was ready to blow. Our server was super nice, but I barely made it home because the food made me ill! Lastly, the Hideout seems like they just stole a bunch of ideas on decor, food, and drink from other Waikiki restaurants and put it all together as if it was their own ideas. It was actually crazy how many ideas they have copied from other places. Place doesn't flow, isn't good, and made me sick! read more

My husband and I went here for breakfast one day on our honeymoon and it was AMAZING. We had been to so many other restaurants on the main strip with lines going down the street that couldn't even compare to this place. Hideout had no line and the prices were amazing. We couldn't believe that other crappy restaurants had more business than this place. If you're in Honolulu make sure you stop here!!! read more

The atmosphere is amazing! The patio has some fire torches and a fire pit which we parked ourselves next too. Really good drinks but it is a bit pricey. So just be warned but this is a fairly new hotel since it just opened in March of 2017. read more

The valet was friendly, valet is free with validation. We arrived a little early for our reservations! We were seated quickly. Very retro designs!! They offered a pretty big menu! Our waitress was Daisy, she was very friendly and we had great service. We tried the edamame dip with taro chip, this was really good kind of tastes like hummus. I decided to order the rib eye bogogi bowl , my two friend had one of the burgers . When my bowl came I was surprised I thought it would have been small like a poke bowl!! It had cucumber Kim Chee, greens, rice and meat. I was super full with this dish. My friends said their burgers were good!!! read more

Hideout at the Laylow is a new restaurant that just opened! They're located on Kuhio Ave right across Marukame Udon. Just take the elevator to L or the escalators will get you there too! Really chill place with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Would make for a nice pau hana spot or even a get-together with friends. Drinks were great! Great to look at and delicious too. Amanda, Tanya, and Seth took great care of me and my friends. For food, you have to try their ahi poke served with shrimp chips. So delicious! I can't wait to come back for a reserved table around that fire pit and dip my feet into the sand. read more

We had the best dinner and drinks at this super hip, funky, chill restaurant. There was a live DJ and the lounge space looked amazing but we sat in the dining area. The service was awesome, I can't even begin to say how good the food was. We're only in Honolulu for six days, but we will definitely be back. read more

Unfortunate experience tonight wIth terrible service and food. Never send a plate back but tonight was a rare occurrence. Customer service was awful with a disagreement in what was ordered which in my opinion doesn't matter who's right or wrong but the bartender disagreed. Many better options close by. read more

Love this place! I had the breakfast sandwich and the pineapple jam was amazing. Also had the buckwheat pancakes...I'm still drooling over the macadamia nut butter. The second level location isolates you from the busy Waikiki foot traffic which makes it a relaxing place to chill with lots of outdoor seating. read more

We enjoyed an excellent lunch. Tempura shrimp app, Kahlua pork egg rolls, Kahlua pork rice bowl, and margherita pizza were all very good. It turns popular at night, with live music, a fire pit area, but not pretentious. The hotel has mid-century decorations in the rooms, with nice bathrooms and balconies. I ordered a small cold brew. It had some bite to it but it wasn't enough to make me throw it away. It's much better than anything you could get from Starbucks, but with Kona coffee just a short walk away I wouldn't suggest anyone go out of their way to get coffee hear. If you're staying at the laylow it's an alright choice- for anyone else keep walking and hit up Kona. read more

Best burgers on island! Fries were a little lack luster, chips and "guacamole" were awesome super lime flavor which was amazing. Drinks very fresh and not overly sweet. Location is perfect especially with free 2 hours of parking by the hotel. Atmosphere is 10/10. read more

We came to the Hideout for breakfast on our first trip to Hawaii. Very good food, nice atmosphere, and good service. This time as Laylow guests, we were offered a free dessert to celebrate our anniversary. We went with the fried gelato at the waitress's recommendation and it was hard to resist not licking the bowl when it came to the end. Can't wait to return for breakfast. read more

While I did enjoy my burger, it could have been better. I had the Piggy Marley. I didn't really taste the difference with this burger being made with wagyu beef. It didn't really taste any different. I just wished there could have been a sauce that really complemented the burger, too. My family had the guacamame dip. I have to say it was pretty interesting (in a good way). I've never had anything like it. I don't have anything like that at home. With taro chips and sweet potato chips, it was a nice little appetizer. I had a taste of my parents' coconut curry entree, and that was pretty good, too. Very flavorful and worth the price. Kinda wish my server was a bit more interested or enthusiastic. I mean, she wasn't rude or anything. She still took care of us. But to be frank, she just seemed like she didn't care for us much. But it's fine. No big deal. read more

Really nice bar and restaurant. The atmosphere is amazing! You must try the Brussel sprouts because they are life changing. The bulgogi bowl was good, too. I also had their iced coffee the next morning which was great! The prices are steep, but it is Waikiki. read more

This kind of sucked mid way through happy hour and one of the main drinks on that menu is not available. Not to worry, we tried a few of the other selections including the cucumber collins, and the mojito. We also ordered some appetizers and food, the fried mozzarella was very good, along with the wings. The wings were cooked well and were crispy. Our friends had the chicken sandwich and the fish and chips and both were enjoyed. Overall it was a good time with food and drinks and trivia. If you're around give them a try.

This evening, it was rather humid, thus we requested for an indoor seat. We waited along the side of the restaurant (bench waiting area) and got sat within 5 min of checking in to the host stand. Kaitlyn was our server and she was super friendly and accommodating. For some odd reason, the 2-top next to us had 3 different couples sit and then request for another seat, perhaps it was too tight of an area for them. Know that if you're ordering anything from a cart, whether that's the cheese wheel risotto or gelato (both table side service) you may want to check with your server before ordering as there are tight aisles and corners to which the team may not be able to reach your table. Overall the food was tasty, and the portions were reasonable. It's much more bustling at this location than that of Kahala and Beachwalk, it has a different type of vibe, if you know what I mean.

Every dish was fantastic. Katsu sandwich was probably one of the best I've had - flaky katsu, yummy mustard sauce, soft pillowy bread. Chicken tenderloin katsu-don was juicy and the chicken was so tender. US beef tenderloin katsu was pretty good, but not my favorite dish of the night. The steak was really thick and we felt like it'd be better if the slices were thinner. The bairin mix katsu set was delicious, the variety was fun and the batter was so flaky and delicious. Overall a cozy, hearty, yummy meal. Service is wonderful and food was served promptly. They checked in often and were very hospitable.

If you're in Honolulu and looking for a cool, laid-back spot to grab drinks, The Hideout at The Laylow is the place to be. Honestly, it's probably the coolest bar in the area, with a chill vibe that keeps drawing us back every time we visit. Drinks One thing I love about The Hideout is their drink selection. As someone who's a fan of Athletic Brewing NA beers, I was thrilled to see them on the menu. Fun fact: this was actually the first place I ever tried one a couple of years ago! The fact that they serve them in chilled glasses is a nice touch. My wife absolutely loved the dirty martinis here, and she even ordered a drink off their cocktail menu that was not only delicious but beautifully presented (although I can't remember the name of it). The bartenders really know their craft. Service The service here is top-notch. We visited almost every night we were in Honolulu, and each time was a bit different but always enjoyable. The staff was friendly and attentive, whether we were sitting by the cozy fire pit or grabbing drinks at the bar. Food Though we've been here several times, oddly enough, we've never ordered food. A burger was recommended to us, and it's still on my list to try. Based on everything else, I'm sure the food is as good as the drinks. Location & Setting The location is fantastic, right next to the International Market Place, and the bar itself is conveniently on the same block as the hotel we stayed at. The fire pit seating area is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the night air, and the ambiance with the flames adds a special touch. Crowd & Entertainment The Hideout's atmosphere varies by night. Some evenings, it's buzzing with people, a DJ spinning tunes or live music creating a lively vibe. Other nights, it's more relaxed and quiet. No matter the crowd, the vibe is always welcoming and comfortable. Recommendation The Hideout at The Laylow has become a staple for us whenever we're in Honolulu. I had been eagerly anticipating my birthday celebration at Hideout at The Laylow Waikiki, but sadly, it turned out to be a major letdown. We had made reservations well in advance for a busy Saturday night (my birthday), and after an expensive cab ride across the island, we arrived in high spirits, dressed for the occasion. However, upon reaching the front desk, we were hit by the news that our table was no longer available due to rain. It was disheartening to be told at the door that we 'no longer had a reservation,' especially since I've never experienced this with a pre booked reservation anywhere else before. What made matters worse was the lack of proactive communication earlier in the day to warn us about the possibility of losing our reservation due to inclement weather. We were simply put on a waitlist for an inside table, with an estimated wait time of over an hour. Stranded without any immediate alternatives and unable to navigate the rainy weather in our attire, we reluctantly sought refuge at a cheap and empty nearby bar, trying to salvage the evening in our nice outfits. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we were seated outside with only umbrellas and towels provided as a makeshift solution. It was only after some time that we were relocated to a slightly more sheltered area, but by then, the damage had been done. While the staff were friendly and the drinks were decent, the lack of compensation or proactive solutions to our inconvenience was disappointing. As a local, I feel compelled to caution others, especially those planning special occasions, about the lack of contingency plans for rainy weather on busy nights. I'd advise against setting high expectations, especially if rain is in the forecast. read more

I recently had brunch at Hideout in Waikiki, and overall, it was a solid experience. I went for the pork belly and brussel sprouts while my friend tried the loco moco. The pork belly was tender and flavorful, but the brussel sprouts were a bit overdone. They were slightly burnt, which made them a little bitter for my taste. The dish could have been a bit more balanced in that regard. As for the loco moco, it was a decent rendition of the classic, though nothing that really stood out. It was tasty, but didn't have the wow factor I was hoping for. On the plus side, Hideouthas great deals, like happy hour specials and Kama'aina discounts, which is always a nice touch for locals. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a good spot to unwind. Unfortunately, my recent experience at this bar was very disappointing. My friend and I, who were among the only Hispanic patrons present, noticed a consistent pattern of being passed over at the bar while others who arrived after us -- primarily white and Asian individuals -- were served promptly. We waited patiently, made ourselves visible, and even attempted to get the bartenders' attention multiple times, but were repeatedly overlooked. It was disheartening and uncomfortable to feel so clearly disregarded in a space that should be welcoming to all guests. Whether intentional or not, this kind of service sends a message -- and it's not a good one. Speaking of the price, I found everything to be overpriced, which made me feel like I didn't get good value for my money. One of the bartenders (Asian guy with black hair and tats on his sleeve) who works nights disrespectfully threw my card back at me because I didn't grab it back fast enough.
