I feel a little torn writing this review. On the one hand, I am happy to help support a food joint like HiFi by providing this review. The food is "to die for!" The Chicken Adobo, which I could eat once a week (if not more), is sooo freakin' good. A few weeks ago one afternoon you should have heard me and a co-worker raving about it .. We were practically foaming at the mouth, our eyes glazed over. And, mind you, we had had lunch hours ago. But, the fact is that, by giving HiFi credit where credit is due, I also have to accept the fact that more and more people are now "in the know" about the awesome food at this once neighborhood secret. It sucks to write this review because the employees (possibly owners) seem like good guys, and I'm sure they've poured a lot into this business, but here goes my review for the Lechon Kawali ($12 + tax)...The portion is small for the price. You get some rice, veggies, about 8 thin slices of roast pork, and a apple cinnamon sauce. They say the sauce is homemade but a Filipino friend of mine says it tastes exactly like the sauce they buy from the store so I don't know...you be the judge of that. The roast pork portion had decent flavor but had a really high fat to meat ratio to a point where some pieces felt like I was just eating fat. Make sure to eat it soon after you get it or else the pork skin will lose it's crunchiness. I still felt hungry after I finished. Hopefully this dish is not an indication of how their other dishes are but the other options are around the same price. Enjoy! read more

Being a vegetarian for almost 2 years, I was starting to miss adobo. Came by, and their mushroom adobo was amazing! It is served with a side of green beans, and I also added a fried egg. The only think I regret is not taking a picture of my food, but I was too busy inhaling it . Thanks guys, will definitely be back for more! read more

Really enjoy the food here. I keep coming back just for the lechon bowl. My friends I bring here like it as well including my Filipino friends. There is seating here though not much. My only criticism is that they always blast the music a bit too loud so I can barely talk to my friends. Clever decor with accents of oldskool hifi gear. read more

I'm overall so impressed with HiFi. The food is incredible (cannot stress this enough!!) and the atmosphere is just as cool. They have a variety of vegan and gluten free options, which really is just the icing on top of the cake. It's nearly impossible to find restaurants of this sort that cater to these restrictions. That Lechon Kawali is probably one of the best if not the best lechon kawali I've ever had! That crispy skin is amazing! I thought it would be rubbery but goddamn I was blown away by it and that sarsa(sauce) My goodness! It complimented the lechon so much. I was craving Filipino food in DTLA and found this gem. It did not disappoint! First off street parking was not hard to find. Second, the lumpia and chicken afritada were bomb. Third, they had amazing customer service and gave us complementary desserts! The Ube upsidedown pie was the perfect way to end the meal. I will definitely be going back! Just tried Hi Fi Kitchen for the first time: for pick-up delivery of the Sweet Spaghetti, and I loved it! Very meaty, cheesy and sweet spaghetti - it hit the spot! My boyfriend and I were waiting for some friends in the area and realized we were hungry. We happened to spot this little storefront and decided why not try it out? Better than getting a bag of chips from the liquor store. We were greeted by the owner and he went through the whole menu with us explaining what was special about each dish. We decided to split the pork belly bowl. We got it with an egg over easy on top. I'm gonna be honest, I don't usually eat fatty meats but this pork belly was AMAZING. For a mostly-fatty cut of meat it was surprisingly not very greasy. And the ends were perfectly crisped. It was really really good. The egg yolk that soaked into the rice made It perfect.
