You're paying for the ambiance in my opinion. I went around 7:30pm on a Friday. When I first come in the maitre d' is the first impression. When we arrived she was having a side conversation and we were met with a attitude. She wasn't very welcoming we had a reservation for 8:45 and planned to sit outside and have some drinks. Outside: The small menu which includes drinks and some appetizers. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke and wine. They have a good wine selection although the Spinach Artichoke was a bit cold and a little tasteless (but they are known for it). Inside: Our host Collin was AMAZING we inquired about suggestions and he provided with very good ones such as Rotisserie Chicken, Prime Rib, as well as the Smoked Salmon. We went with the Rotisserie Chicken and Prime Rib. I was a bit surprised because you could noticeably tell the Chicken was not well marinated it was real dry inside although, the outside was darkened. I think (pretty sure) i wanted more flavor or zest. I didn't it wasn't as good in my opinion although the kale on the side was good but oily and the juice from the chicken and oil from the kale clashed bad. The Prime Rib did not taste as good, as it was dried out an less pull. I would probably be chewing it still. I ended up settling on the fries that came with the Prime Rib and just bring happy. I'm not sure I would pay the price for the meal again. But I would go back for a nice wine probably. read more

Great restaurant with a warm ambiance. Lots of wood on the walls and ceiling lend a very warm inviting atmosphere. No reservation so we sat at the bar, which is huge with the most comfortable bar stools I've ever sat in. Very prompt attentive service. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious and they brought out additional warm tortilla chips without having to ask for more. I order salads all the time in restaurants and I have to say that the Wedge Salad was the best wedge salad I have ever had. Fresh crisp and delicious dressing with sweet golden beets. The blue cheese was mild and flavorful. The veggie burger was ok, but the patty was sort of seared on the outside a little too much and the patty found could more flavor. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.!! read more

We had the sushi and the fish was very fresh, but there was a little too much mayonnaise in the rainbow sushi roll. The drinks are on the expensive side. But all in all this is always a safe bet! We went in for our 4:45 pm reservation. The restaurant was packed and people were in T shirts and I saw a man in an adidas track suit. My husband and I were going to an early dinner and headed to the diamondbacks game after. He was in his classic diamondbacks jersey (no hat). We were turned away immediately for a "no jersey" policy. Hillstone needs to change with the times and stop taking themselves so seriously. What was irritating was looking around and seeing people dressed much less casual and put together then we were. This place has seriously declined. The last five times I've been here, we've waited over 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. For a restaurant that caters to business lunches, that's completely unacceptable. Even worse than the wait is the staff's indifference. The manager couldn't care less--no apology, no explanation, just a dismissive "I have no control over the dining room." If reservations don't mean anything, why even take them? This restaurant is definitely a must try! They are a sister property to Houston's in Scottsdale. Nothing but the best from service to food quality and everything in between. Omg the French dip sandwhich is to die for. I ordered a burger and my bf got a French dip sandwhich. For our sides we got the tabbouleh salad. The size of the food and salad side was huge where it's good enough for 2 meals in my opinion. In addition, the ambience and service is 11/10. A busy weekend afternoon creeping up to Super Bowl Sunday! There was a little wait for a table so we found a high top at the bar and had a cocktail. Martini was a little better than average, still crisp and tasty. Got a fantastic booth in the bar area and they knew right where to find us to take us there. Appetizers were the French fries with dipping sauces and they were fantastic as were all the sauces. I had the Ding's crispy chicken sandwich! It was very good and it is a HUGE portion definitely took half home. The chicken was crisp and delicious, a lot of good slices of Swiss cheese I feel a lot of the time on sandwiches the cheese is minimal and as far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as too much cheese. The spicy slaw was okay (I don't really like slaw) service was very efficient and friendly. I would say a solid experience will definitely be back! read more

Some of my absolute favs include the Ribs, thai steak noodle salad, spinach and artichoke dip, French dip, crispy chicken sandwich and the Hawaiian ribeye. They NEVER disappoint. This time I decided to go for just a drink and an appetizer. I ordered the Thai tuna roll and the spinach and artichoke dip. The Thai tuna roll was so good! Different than a classic sushi roll you've had before. Definitely would recommend. As always the spinach and artichoke dip hit the spot. Well, based upon my review from 11 years ago (heh), nothing much has changed. I have been here a few times throughout the years. It's always amazing and the staff are always terrific. My husband and I met just before COVID and I have been telling him about Hillstone since we first met. We just never made it in until Father's Day this year. Taeya was our waitress and she's just awesome. Very attentive, super gracious with my weird fish "allergy," and had spot on recommendations. I don't eat a lot of meat - this visit was for nostalgia for me and steak for him. Spinach Artichoke Dip - I have no idea why we ordered this. We had menu paralysis because we wanted literally everything. I didn't care for it. It is served with salsa and sour cream. I found it to be *very* sweet. Hubs though it was great. Everything else was delicious and cooked to perfection. Just an FYI, I'd probably skip dessert. They don't have a ton of options and there are *so many* places downtown to get a freaking fantastic sweet. That said, still get a cocktail or two! P.S. They ask you to dress nicely for a reason. Upon entry...this fancy Biltmore establishment is way beyond my class level and I'm not ashamed to admit it. However, I didn't come to be fancy...I came to eat the most fantastic French Dip sandwich in the area. I would straight fight ninjas just to wrap my lips around this decadent sandwich.
