Don't believe reviews that say there's ocean view dining here. Sitting on the patio, you look at campers and if you can see thru them, there's a berm of huge rocks. And at high tide, there's not even a beach to sit on and eat, just a set of stairs that go up over the rocks and down the other side straight into the water! There's a patio with some umbrella covered tables, but the tables live outside and their surfaces reflect this. If you'd rather eat in your car, like at least you're by the beach, know parking is restricted to 45 min. Having said all that, where else can you get a restaurant worthy meatball sub at 9 am? The bread is great and I saw it being toasted on the grill with butter, then piled with seemingly homemade tomato sauce, given the light color and texture, and meatballs that are not like subway, where the meat taste has been completely processed out of it. For those who like covering up the taste of red meat, there is a Chicken Parmesan hot sandwich as well. And you haven't got a kid back there just going thru the motions of arranging cold cuts on bread, while flash heating anything hot. There's a real chef thoughtfully working the grill. As such, it takes awhile to get your food, so expect to wait. Also, if you look at past menu pics, prices have been going up steadily. For example, today the restaurant style meatball sandwich was $11.95, their super juicy, perfectly medium and loaded with fresh ingredients cheeseburger was 12.95, and water was a small plastic bottle of Crystal Springs, for 2.50. She told us it was too late to get a burrito (2:00), but when her friend showed up 15 minutes later, she yelled "Want a burrito?" Head on down to Mariah's and her partner's gem of an eatery with the best view and the best vibes! There is nothing like a cheeseburger grilled to perfection topped with red onions and crisp lettuce on a generously sized bun and served with fries *AND* then getting to eat it with the view of rolling waves and seagulls flying about. Beachy old school snack shack vibes. We decided to get breakfast before leaving. We ordered the pancakes, and 2 egg plate (with an extra egg). They were out of hash browns so they gave us fries. Everything was good. The pancakes were the star of the show! Very cakey and strong hint of vanilla. Filling and good portion size for the money. Enjoyed eating on their patio. I love Hobson grill & pizza shack! First of all the service is amazing, the workers take pride in the restaurant. I always see them get there early and set up. They take out decor and clean the perimeter before they open. The pizza/calzone dough is made fresh and you can taste the difference. The meat ball sandwich if full of flavor, the bread is crunchy! The calzone is one of the best I've ever had, a must have while camping. The zucchini fry's are another great tasting treat they offer. Very delicious, I always order 2 for 5 of us. This restaurant has become a part of our camping tradition. If we are camping we have to eat here or it's not camping! Till next time! read more

the owner is is extremely rude. i'm backpacking up the coast and hoping to get some pizza only to find that they closed a half hour early. no big deal, it's beach timekeeping. but i'm tired and hungry from rushing to get here so i sit down and try to have a snack. then the owner came out and kicked me out of his (empty) table area as one would shoo away a pest. no please, sorry, or thank you, just enthusiastically defending his shack from an attempted customer who was doing no one any harm. so instead of my money in the register, he gets this review. being kind costs you nothing dude! read more

A total hidden chem. These people have the best life. Their place is tucked into a cute little campground, right on the ocean and they're making what they love. You can totally tell by the food. We're camping here and have had breakfast, which they didn't skimp on the eggs btw, and lunch! Hubby had the meatball sub that was loaded with cheese and I got the pepperoni pizza. It was so delicious!! The crust was perfect. If you peek inside you will see little balls of homemade pizza dough, it just doesn't get any better. We walked over, placed our order and walked back to camp. Once our food was ready, she just yelled out hubby's name and he walked right back. So very convenient! read more

Had a breakfast burrito super basic, would recommend going to Faria down the road. Pancakes were alright but overpriced for what they are. Prices are way different than on website. Tried to go for pizza for dinner but they closed over an hour earlier than they had hand written/scribbled on their sign. It's located at the Hobson Beach campground. It's a walk up shack with outdoor picnic tables. We were camping about a mile away on the Rincon Parkway. The 4 of us ate there for breakfast. We had the breakfast burritos and French toast. The burritos were big and very tasty. Not too many potatoes like some places. The French toast was equally good with a decent amount of powdered sugar. It's not cheap, but the food is excellent and an easy walk for those camping at Rincon. I can't wait to return and try lunch. read more

We stumbled upon this great little snack shack on our way back down to the LA area from camping up in Santa Barbara. I'm really glad that we found this place, and it can be hard to find, but we found it! The owners are incredibly nice and their hospitality is unmatched. I had asked if they had iced coffee and they really didn't, but the lovely lady said she would do it for me no problem and she really went above and beyond for me. It came back to me iced, not watered down at all, and it was deliciously flavorful. I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon and it was faaaaantastic! My husband got the vegetarian burrito and it had me wishing I had gotten one of those to go. My daughter said that her food was also really, really good. While we were eating, the owners came out and sat by us and we chatted for a bit. They are incredibly nice people and it was nice to hear that they worked in and knew the area that we live in now well. I'm always for giving business to hard working, nice people like they are and the next time we are up in the area to camp, we will be stopping by here every time. ***EAT HERE*** I read all of the reviews about this place and found them all to NOT be my experience. I called ahead of our camping trip to confirm their business hours. We were there from 11/1 - 11/6. They are currently closed on Thursdays and every other Monday. They were open on Monday the 2nd so you can do the math from there. These are seasonal hours so check before you go. They were open from 8:30am to 3pm. Now, the cafe is small and the food is made to order so it does take some time especially during heavy camping time which is all of the time as this campground is very popular. Not to mention, this cafe gets a ton of non camping visitors. So keep in mind with only two people working it, & sometimes only one person, it gets busy and you will wait for your food. However, the food is worth it! We had coffee from here every morning and it was hot and fresh. We had their breakfast burritos which were big and beyond fresh and yummy. We also had their buttermilk pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon breakfast. I am not a pancake eater but those things were fluffy, moist and so dang good!! They give you sliced bananas with them! OMG LOVE! we ate here twice for lunch. I had the Caesar salad which was large & shareable, had croutons and tasty salad dressing. Hubby had the delicious Chicken Parmesan sub which was also huge, hot and filled with gooey mozzarella cheese and homemade sauce. The sauce was sooo good and the bread was crunchy yet soft in the center. Perfectly grilled. We also tried the so so yummy meatball sub which was equally as good as the chicken parmesan, seasoned fries and hubby had the AMAZING vegetable Calzone. The dough is handmade fresh and was mind blowing! The veggies were seasoned perfectly. We found each dish shareable! The prices are very affordable. There are a variety of sandwiches & burgers, several salads, calzones, pizzas and specialty items. We did not try the pizza but saw it up close and it smelled and looked wonderful! Fresh, handmade dough. I found the staff's personalities to be fine. They were polite and told us what to expect as far as a time frame after we ordered. Dont go here expecting a fine dining experience or over the top personality. They are busy, courteous and to the point. They joked with us and we had zero problem with their attitudes. We were thanked for our business and told they appreciated us. It was very nice not to have to cook while camping and have access to good, fresh food right inside of the campground. read more
