Dear Hogan Tire, I am writing to thank you and your service department for taking the utmost care in taking care of my wife's car. We live down the Cape and my wife was visiting her mother in her hometown of Waltham and Lexington when she got a nail in her tire. She was told her to bring it to Tom Lyons Firestone which is now Sullivan Tire. After fifteen to twenty minutes before they acknowledge she was there they told to bring it back tomorrow and they could not fix it today. She was then told she had to move her car though at that time it was flat. She asked if they could fill her tire so she could make it home. After another twenty minutes' no one came out to help her. I was on my way from the Cape that was at least another twenty to thirty minutes filled her tire with a pump and we went to Hogan Tire. At Hogan Tire we were greeted right off and the service manager and every one of your staff was just Awesome. After a short wait you had her car done and she was out the door in less then thirty minutes. I just showed up for my 1 o'clock appointment, that I made over a week ago, only to be told I'd have to leave the car because they were too backed up with walk ins. I'm not sure what the point of making an appointment is if you're just going to be treated as a walk in. I would've at least appreciated a phone call before I loaded my winter wheels into my small sedan and drove 20 minutes over there. I have always recommended Hogan Tire to anyone that asked, however, that has now changed. I have 3 vehicles in my family and have bought tires for all of them for the last 10 years from Hogan Tire. Today was the last time. Last week I brought the wife's SUV in for an alignment. The alignment did not take long at all (20 minutes) but when I left I immediately noticed the steering wheel was off center. I went right back and handed the keys to the Service Advisor and told him it was off center. He said it's going to be about 45 minutes. What was I to do? Make another appointment? I told him I would wait. The alignment rack was empty for the next 20 minutes and then he brought another vehicle in and did that alignment first. It was about an hour before they finally got mine back in and corrected it. They should have immediately put it back on the machine instead of making me wait. After the tech finished he road tested it (did not road test the first time). The Service Advisor called into me in the waiting room and said you're all set, put the keys on the counter and retreated to the office. Not even an apology for the screw up. Today, I brought my truck in for new tires and told them I would be picking it up after hours. When I got in the truck and turned the key on the "Service Tire Monitor" light was on. They did not reset the tire pressure monitor. You can't tell me nobody noticed the bright yellow light on the dash as they parked it outside. I have 2 more vehicles that will need tires within the next 3 months and you can rest assure I will not be purchasing them from Hogan Tire. read more

Garbage. Took my car in for new tires end of March, the guy with the goatee that drives all the cars into the Alignment Station hopped in a bunch of vehicles, Including mine without a mask. The Alignment was only 20min, didn't find out until later, a proper alignment takes much longer. On top of that ONE tire was put on backwards and TWO others are leaking. They also told me I didn't have to do anything with the General Tire Rebate, it would be sent to me. You actually have to contact General for the rebate. Besides that the older gentleman, although, also wasn't wearing a mask. At least gave me hand wipes for the chubby goatee guy in my car. Not reliable at all. Went to the shop and made an appointment in person. The employee acted serious- I thought they would offer the good old tradition service- as they say in their advertisement. Took my name, car information and etc. I was running little late for the appointment and called ahead to mention my delay. I asked can I still make it today. An employee answered and said "there's no appointment listed for today in the computer". That's it, he didn't say come another day or not. I had to get two new front tires and an alignment done last week.Peter the manager called to apologize that they couldnt do the alignment because the computer system went down.He took $20 off and when i went back today to get the alignment done he called me two hours later to say the front ball joints had to be replaced because it was a safety issue.He knocked $40 off the cost of that and it was done a few hours later and i now have a nice safe car.Thanks to peter and his staff for being honest about what needed to be done and promptly getting it fixed.I highly recommend hogan Tire in waltham read more

Purchased four tires from them in late 2015. Also purchased the extended coverage for fixing flats, etc. The tires have less than 35K miles on them, they were rated for 60K. On a side note, avoid Michelin Premier LTX...over-priced and poor tread life. I got a flat, changed it and put the doughnut on. Drove down to Hogan so they could fix it. Guy helping me at the counter was polite and courteous. The pissy technician looks at the tire and says it can't be fixed because the tread is too low and that it isn't worth the $40 to fix it. Ok,I had just passed state inspection last month, so tires had plenty of tread left. But they insisted it was Hogan's policy to not fix flats if tread is lower than "their" standard for safety. What do you know, they offer to sell me a replacement, but I have all-wheel drive, so I can't just replace one tire, I have to replace the entire set. So buyer beware, before you purchase that extra insurance on your new tires, they may or may not honor the terms. In my case they did not. Fortunately, I drove across the street to the Shell station where they fixed my flat tire in ten minutes and for just $30. I'm sure this problem is not unique to Hogan. All big franchise tire shops are corporations that thrive on profits selling you a product. There is no way around it unless you purchase tires online and have a trusted mechanic install them for you. read more

I was feeling pretty stressed about getting a flat tire due to a woman that did not know how to drive and left me on the side of the road. I called Hogan Tire the next day because my boyfriend recommended I go there since he got tires from them before and said they were the best here. I called the next morning and although they were booked with appointments all day, the man on the phone was able to squeeze me in between appointments as long as I was able to just drop off my car. It was done in an hour or so! I was so happy and satisfied with their service! I highly recommend this place!! I will only go here and recommend it to my friends and family as well. read more

I got a flat tire a few weeks ago and called around to see who could get the best prices. This taught me a valuable lesson in "you get what you pay for." A story? Sure, here we go: I called Hogan Tire on a Thursday and they said they could get the tire in the next day - all other shops cost a bit more and told me Saturday or Monday at the earliest, so I went with Hogan. The tire wasn't there the next day when I called back (after no call by 4:30pm or so) and they said "Oh, yeah, it'll probably be in by Tuesday. We'll call you." What? I ask for a tracking number which they said they'd send, but - surprise! - they never did. Fast forward to Tuesday after a carless weekend, and it's 4:30pm again with no phone call. I call Hogan and they say "Oh, yeah, it came in today.. but the guy that mounts them left at 4pm. Can you come in tomorrow?" What? I go there Wednesday morning to have the tire mounted and they're reasonably efficient about it. Of course, it wasn't perfect - the tire mounting machine was right next to the bay where my car was and they got weird greasy tire mounting soap all over the car. Driving around I still notice a problem and I call them back to have the tires balanced - it turns out one of the rims was visibly quite bent when on the balancing machine, indicating that they didn't even put it on there like they were supposed to, even though they were happy to charge me for it. Ugh. I will not ever come back here - if I can't find tires I need in stock somewhere already, I'll order tires from Tire Rack and have them installed somewhere where people give half a damn about their customers and their cars. read more

Don't expect any sort of normal human interaction from most of the misanthropes 'working' at this shop; the guy named Sean/Shawn was at least not rude, but on the other hand, 'Bob' (who worked on the car) was a surly prick who made sure you felt like you were getting on his last nerve for having the audacity to address him in any way. God forbid you ask a question, make a comment or even breathe - Bob apparently does NOT like you so just sit in the corner, shut up & hand over your money when the time comes...way to go 'Bob' - you might want to reconsider your chosen career, maybe you should work with inanimate objects rather than actual, human customers. Overall this place is sufficient if you're in a pinch (which we were) but otherwise I'd give my business to someone who doesn't seem to aggressively hate their customers... read more

One star is too much for them! Went to fix a missing side view mirror that got knocked off. On Wednesday, they said come in on Thursday morning, we have the part and will fix it in 30mins. Thursday: Went there at 8am, waited an hour and a half, then they said they had the wrong part. Left at about 9:30am, late for work. Was told to go back on Friday morning - they will have the part by then. Friday: Woke up early to go there, but decided to call first. Nope, they didn't have the part yet. Woke up early for nothing. Couldn't they have called last night to say the part wasn't in? Got a call at 3ish to say the part is here. Was told the mechanic doesn't work on Saturdays, so had to go on Monday morning to get it fixed. Mechanics don't work on Saturdays? Monday: Went there at 8am. Was told to leave the car for 1hr - 1.5hrs. Got back at 9:30am, THEY HAVEN'T STARTED WORKING ON THE CAR! Stood around for the next 45mins while they scrambled to work on it. Finally finished the job at 10:15am. Now, I'm epic late for work and hope I don't get fired. All this, for $240! Sure, we checked two places and this was the cheaper one still. Wouldn't have gone for it if they said they had the part and would take 30mins to get fixed. I had the same problem back in another state last year (idiot knocked off my side view mirror), and they only charged $150. WASTE OF TIME and a RIP OFF - NEVER AGAIN HOGAN. I brought my car in for repair with a wheel bearing that had gone. The wheel bearing, passenger rear, had only just been replaced a few months prior by another shop, however, I had since moved out of the area and was unable to bring the car back to the original mechanic for service. Hogan tire attempted the repair, stating that the wheel bearing must have been installed improperly or faulty. I asked whether anything else might be wrong that would have caused it to wear out so quickly. They said no. Once they had it, they could not get the new wheel bearing installed without having it whine, so they removed it and tried another. That also didn't work. It kept making a distinct whining noise. I again asked if something else might be wrong. They said no. To fix the issue they then took the bearing off the driver's side rear, installed the new bearing there, and put the older one from the driver's side on the passenger's side...I thought this seemed odd, but it stopped the noise. A few months later, the passenger side wheel bearing is blown again. They replaced it.I return it to them, this time angrily, and state what is happening. They tried to tell me it was unrelated since technically the new part was on the other side. I call BS and flip. They tell me to bring the car in and they will look in to it. I state explicitly that I don't just want them to slap another bearing on the car, but that there must be some underlying issue causing the passenger side rear bearing to fail. Since I have only this car between my wife and I, they give me a rental - which they cover. This is the only reason they get two stars instead of one. When I talked to Hogan, they had simply replaced the wheel bearings in the rear and replaced two tires, which they said were the cause of the noise. Now, having had a few bad wheel bearings on this car, and having a father who is a retired mechanic himself, this is utter crap. Most of the bearings were covered by them, but at the end of the day i paid for two bearing, one of which I can already tell is going again, and two new tires that I really didn't need. The service manual for this vehicle states that the stub axle should be replaced each time that the bearing is replaced. I mentioned this and got eye rolls. Crap doesn't just keep breaking for no reason. there is always an underlying cause. And the chances of getting that many defective parts, as was suggested to me at one point, is very very low. If your parts are that bad, get a better supplier and stop buying after-market. When I asked about causes, the kid with the beard that works the front said I probably hit too many potholes. I also witnessed him tell a customer that came in with tire pressure issues "me too; it's cold out." Don't be a jerk dude. Either learn some customer service or be a better at fixing things - you can't suck at both. My bearing is still singing me the song of its people. I will not bring it back here, even if they cover it. They are quick, I will give them that. Maybe too quick. Also, don't buy in to the 5-star reviews on their profile. They give you $20 off if you give them a good review on Yelp. UPDATE: I haven't been on in a little while, but I wanted to give the end of this story. Brought the car to shop up the road from me. They fixed the issue, which ended up being....the wheel bearing!!!! The fixed and correctly and I have had no issue since. read more

Let me start off by saying that auto repair place gives me anxiety...I'm always worried about being ripped off, and honestly most auto repair places don't have the friendliest staff. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised about my experience at Hogan's the other day. I bought a used car at a dealership about 3 months, and part of that deal was that they replace all tires for brand new ones. So the dealership went ahead and installed and balanced them, but for some reason I kept getting a shimmy in the steering wheel at highway speeds. I took it back to them a month later to get it rebalanced. Sure enough, still shaking at highway speeds. I researched the problem online, and read that the Hunter Roadforce balancing machine can pinpoint and fix any vibrations coming from the tires. So I took it to Hogan's because they had a Hunter machine and were close to my work. I called and spoke with Sean who set up an appointment for Friday at 1pm. I get there and they take my car in right away, and Sean estimated it would take about 45 mins. I walked around Waltham center during that time and came back 45 mins later, and they were literally driving my car out of the bay (the time estimate was spot on). Sean came and sat down next to me and explained to me in precise detail what the problem was and what they did to correct it. So obviously I was anxious to get to the highway, and the shimmy and vibration was gone! I was extremely happy with their work, the price was $83 with tax for everything, and honestly Sean was one of the nicest guys I have EVER encountered at any business. DRIVE AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, EVEN ON A FLAT TIRE, I DIS I was shopping in Waltham today and hit a curb and blew out the sidewall on the front tire of my Mini Cooper. Luckily, I thought, it happened across the street from Hogan in Waltham. Boy, was I ever wrong. So I drove my car, on its RIM, into Hogan Tire on this rainy Saturday morning. Both the Manager, Dan, and his assistant, were busy texting on their cell phones and too busy to greet me. After calling out to them, the female assistant begrudgingly came out to look at my blown tire. After 15 minutes of standing at the counter with no communication, she mumbled, "we cant get the tire til Monday," Really? OK, so I said, I will just change the tire myself, put the spare on, go from there. The Manager Dan stupidly said, "We don't allow customers to work on their cars in the parking lot." REALLY??? I'm not "working on my car, I have bad tire, which you cant' fix!So I moved my car on to the busy street, in the pouring rain.Then asked, how long til one of your crew could just come help loosen the lug nuts and get me on my way. I would do it my self. "3-4 Hours we have a lot of customers here," was doughy Dan's response. They would not even let me borrow the lug wrench tool to do it myself, which is OUTRAGEOUS! I said to him, "WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS?" He said , "Company policy,"with an offensive and arrogant tone. I hope that is NOT the care but I am going to pursue this and find out. Clearly, the" tools" at this location are working behind the counter, and not available to customers. Fortunately, I say the neaby WATERTOWN SHELL station nearby.HOGAN's bad service, forced me to drive my broken car, on my rims to Tony the owner at Shell, who couldn't have been nicer and was able to get me on my way in less than 30 minutes for a minor $20 charge. I've been a loyal customer for about 5 years. Today was my last time here. They put the wrong kind of oil in my car. While they fixed the problem right away and at no cost to me, I was the one that pick up on the mistake. There could have been damage to my car if it was driven with the wrong oil. These guys are supposed to be the experts in cars, not me. I only knew because all of my other oil changes had been much more expensive and I questioned the price. Hogan Tire Waltham gets a solid 4.5 star in my review. The .5 star was deducted because it was a bit of a challenge ordering my tires here. I ordered them on a thursday and was told that they would be in next day... I needed these tires since I had a flat and needed all four replaced asap, but didn't get them until the following wednesday. Some back and forth and I almost gave up, but I'm glad I didn't. Hogan managed to fit me into their schedule as soon as they had the tires. I drove to Hogan in Waltham and the storefront was undergoing renovation at the time so I was a little underwhelmed. I parked my car and the people at Hogan tire started getting to work after I explained what I needed done (all tires replaced + 4 wheel alignment). As I was waiting for my car, I had the chance to converse with both Bob (manager) and Sean (assistant manager). Over the course of 3 hours I was able to observe just how hard these guys worked and it amazed me how consistently patient and polite Sean was. The phone kept ringing/people kept coming in and he did his job with a great attitude the whole time. These guys are really busy! I have been to this place a couple of times for different reasons. One of my tires was leaking air, I brought it to a couple of other places but nobody seemed to be able to fix it. Sure enough I brought it to Hogans Tire and one of the employees ( sorry forgot his name ) looked at it and said it was not patched right. They fixed it in 10 minutes and it no more leaks after that. Last month I decided I needed 4 new tires, since I had such a great experience I decided to go back to Hogan Tires. Purchased 4 new Michelin Defender Tires and they been great. Took about 2 hours to install and they have a little waiting area with TV where you can hang out while your car is being worked on. So far super happy with the service and the tires :) read more

I managed to get a flat tire within a week of moving to the area. I was pretty wary about going anywhere--especially after the first place I called told me they wouldn't be able to fit my car with the tire I wanted. To give a little more context, I have fairly new tires from my family's go to auto guy back home. He had fitted my car with tires that were just under the factory supported load capacity for my car (91 vs 93). After hearing from this other shop that I was going to need more than just one new tire, I questioned my tire guy from home and was assured that a little under the load capacity is just fine. So I called Hogan and explained the situation to Sean, telling him that this other store wouldn't fit my car for the tire I needed. Sean was great--very friendly and easy to work with. I brought my car in, he looked over the busted tire and confirmed what the AAA sent guy who fitted my spare said about not being able to plug it and pointed out damage on my rim where I hit a pothole. He organized with the warehouse to get my tire in Monday morning. When it came time to get my new tire, I was in and out within 15 minutes. The waiting area was nice enough with free wifi to boot. Overall, I'm pleased with Hogan. I drove out actually feeling pretty good about the whole situation and the service I received. Especially considering it could have been a lot worse of a welcome to the area. read more

I've lived in Waltham for over 25 years and been to Hogan Tire several times with all of my different cars, however this was my last visit for a very long time. I had a flat tire last Saturday morning. They were nice enough to give me the same day appointment. The damage was on the side wall so I knew the tire had to be replaced, however they did not have the brand Parelli in stock so the tire needed to be ordered. My conversation was with Kaitlin. She was able to order the tire for less than what It usually costs. She charged me the deposit and said she will follow up with me on Tuesday when the tire was expected to arrive. When I left the place, I said to myself, "This place deserves the rating of Five Stars" because Kaitlin was polite and she made me leave with a smile. Tuesday arrived and I did not hear from Kaitlin or anyone else. I called them in the afternoon and Sunny answered the phone. He said the tire had already arrived but they were backed up with other customers. EXCUSE ME? Just because you already charged me the deposit, I was NO LONGER the priority? When I asked to speak with Kaitlin, he said she was busy with another customer but someone will call me when I could bring my car! Are you kidding me? Tuesday went by and no one called me. Wednesday came by and almost gone but NO CALL from Hogan Tire, so I drove there around 5pm to get the tire installed. Sunny was there so I asked him how come no one had called me and he said someone should've called me or sent me a text. What?? Which one is it? I made him aware "I did not receive any calls or texts". Not sure who is responsible to follow up with the customers, but someone really need to take an accountability at this place. it seems like everyone does their own thing. With a spare tire on, I was experiencing some issue with the steering wheel. So, I asked Sunny if there was anyway the mechanic can take my car for a short drive! To that, he said he had only one guy who needed to stay in the garage because they were trying to leave. Hmmm..... A long sigh. My car was ready within 15 minutes so I was happy, however as I was close to home, the Tire Pressure Light came on the display. Are you kidding me? So, here we go again. I called Sunny and he said, the mechanic should've checked all four tire pressures because that is our policy. Although, he couldn't confirmed if that was done? He asked me to bring the car in the morning but I do have a life outside of visiting Hogan Tire so I drove to the gas station and filled the air myself. By the way, all four of my tires in my car were replaced prior also at this Hogan Tire that cost me over $1,000 but you just lost a loyal customer. One star you received is for my initial conversation with Kaitlin, as much as she even failed to follow up on Tuesday. I visited the Waltham, Massachusetts location. Ischeduled a tire rotation for tires I purchases at Hogan Tire several years ago, and an oil change at the same time, since I am trying to minimize contact with businesses, especially car service, during the COVID19 pandemic. I was told on the phone that I could avoid entering the office by calling when I arrived from my cell phone. I did this and told the employee that I had brought a fresh mask and gloves for the person who would drive my car into the bay. She said it was not necessary because they all wore masks and gloves (fresh gloves) each time. To my horror I watched a man enter my car and start to drive it to the bay with neither a mask nor gloves on!!!! I confronted him as quickly as I could. He stopped said sorry and went to get a mask and gloves. The woman who answered my arrival call came out and I engaged her about my outrage at their violating my specific request and she said he was supposed to be wearing the protective gear but she couldn't control what he did. I asked about where the management was and to my even greater horror she said the driver who violated the rules and my specific request WAS THE MANAGER !!!! His name is Bob Couture and my interaction with him was terrible! He minimized the offense by saying that he "wiped" every thing down after he was done. I had to tell him that the virus stays in the air in my car for hours potentially. This was absolutely irresponsible. I cleaned the interior myself before I drove it home with all the windows open in spite of the very hot weather. They did not charge me for the oil change but Hogan Tire needs to do better than this !!! This is still a very dangerous pandemic and the interior of our cars is one of the few "safe spaces" for us. Carefully go over what they are actually (not) going to do to your car. I was quoted a decent deal for 4 new tires plus wheel alignment. Was told everything would be done by 4 pm on the same day, so I happily dropped off my car. When I went back at 4, I was presented with a voucher for alignment and told that of course I had to make a separate appointment for alignment. Not apologetic at all. They didn't swap out the spare tire like I asked them to, either, so they had to do it on the spot. I have bought a few sets of tires from this business over the years, and they've always done a good job until this little incident. But I must sadly admit that this was a little bit too bait and switch-ish for me so I will not be going back there for new tires any more. read more

Terrible communication. They'll keep your car for an entire day for a job that takes 2 hours. The manager Bob is terrible at customer service. They'll tell you to bring the car back in to fix the same issue and charge you again. read more

I found the man I spoke to to be very rude, condescending and most of the answers to my questions had that sort of "prepared answer for the customers with complaints" feel about them. When he told me the price to simply mount 4 tires I walked out telling him I was going to one of his competitors. He yelled for me to have a great day which might have been nice if he had a hint of sincerity in his voice. They wanted $140 to mount my tires. Creonte tire told me $60 on the phone. Firestone in watertown told me $88 in person. Not that I'm saying go to firestone necessarily. Hogan wanted twice as much, and after reading the other reviews here I'm glad I didn't go with them. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews. I have been very impressed by the service I've received at Hogan Tire in Waltham especially from Kate!!! She is very knowledgeable and helpful and has helped me to understand issues with my vehicle. I lost my husband last year, and having to deal with tires and lights illuminating my dashboard was both new and very stressful for me. Kate has been a godsend!!! Her patience, clarity and warmth have relieved me of unnecessary worry and expense. Service has been timely and appropriate. And she has followed up to be assured of my satisfaction and welcomed me to drop in or call the shop with any concerns or questions. SHE IS A GEM!!! read more
