This is our go-to take out chinese place on sunday nights. Portland has few Chinese restaurants that are above-average This place is straddling the average/above-average line in a typical city. In Portland it is dependably good chinese. I think the outstanding dish is the oysters with green onion and ginger. read more

I would like to start this with saying I am no Chinese food gourmet. I'm not too picky when it comes to my Chinese food so this place definitely did the job for my craving, however it certainly was not the best. The egg drop soup was a little too viscous and with tofu a little bland. The Mongolian beef and pork lo mein dish I got were fairly good. This is close to my house so I can see myself going again for another late dinner pickup. Other than that I might try elsewhere first. read more

Pepper salted squid and wonton soup is my favorite. This place is awesome. Excellent service, quick take out and great Chinese food. Serving sizes are huge and prices are very reasonable. I regularly drive from sw Portland to eat here, it's that good. This is typical heavy Chinese food and really hits the spot when you need to cure a hangover or warm up on a rainy day. Egg rolls were abit too salty. The orange chicken was over cooked, tough and chewy, that went in the trash after afew bites. I dont believe that I have extremely high standards for Chinese food, but this place let me down. Oh, Ho ho! You are so goooood. In my 'hood, very reasonably priced and delicious! I have been searching for a decent restaurant that serves American-Chinese food since I moved here and have encountered some serious fails on my quest. The search is over. We dined in, started with soup and the delicious and massive salad rolls. I thought the egg drop soup was very tasty, not a huge fan of their hot and sour. All the entrees were delicious and the service was great. The ingredients tasted very fresh and the sauces were perfect - not overly salty/MSGish/corn syrupy. Had Ho Ho for dinner tonight, to-go, once again. I love this place. It's within walking distance of my house and I eat there once a month. My favorites are the crab puffs and their shrimp lo mein. I love those skinny noodles in the lo mein and appreciate that it's a dryer dish, not totally soaked and dripping in a salty sauce. See you in August, Ho Ho!! read more

Had lunch the other day when it was super rainy outside. I got the green bean and chicken lunch special and hot &sour soup, as per a recommendation I read here from Maureen K. Agreed it was really yummy! The hot and sour wasn't my favorite, but was certainly edible, and came free with lunch. The rice was good. The service was nice. I loved that they left the teapot even though I was eating alone. I had several cups while I waited out the rain. Would def return. read more

Ive been here a few times now and the food is very good. Some of the best Wonton soup I have ever had. We have tried the honey spicy chicken, the pad Thai and the spring rolls to name a few items. Here's the thing: this place is actually a Vietnamese restaurant in disguise. It has pretty good chinese food, but they really shine in their Vietnamese options. I love the Salt and Pepper Squid and they have really good, cheap pho. Their Singapore noodles are also delicious. Everything, though, is fast, yummy, and reasonably priced. They are even tolerant and friendly when I come in with a book and study there for several hours, making sure to order things about once an hour. They keep me stocked with free tea, and the waitress is always amazingly friendly. This place is a fantastic neighborhood restaurant, and even though the decor is sparse, I recommend it highly. read more

I recently moved pretty close to this place and decided to check it out when I was craving some Pho. Ho Ho being a sub 5 minute walk from my place seemed to be a good choice. I went in not expecting anything great...seemed like a standard family style Chinese and Vietnamese joint but when I ordered the Pho and a chow mien plate I was pleasantly surprised. Best Pho I have had in all of Portland and at $6.50 you can't beat the serving size! If you are in the area make sure you check this place out! read more

They gave me salmonella once and I can't believe they have so many good reviews. Even ignoring the food poisoning part the food is god awful anyways. Unless you like a side of salmonella with your Kung pow chicken I recommend eating literally anywhere else. read more

This is my new go-to Chinese food fix! The sesame chicken was AMAZING... None of that bland breaded chicken with sauce on top, this was the real deal and it made my night when I opened the box once I got home. I added the crab puffs to test them out and they were pretty decent; the sweet n' sour sauce was typical but it I wasn't expecting much to begin with. I would definitely recommend this place for someone who has the craving and wants it resolved quickly. I have been living in Portland for a little over a year and up until last not could not find a Chinese restaurant that actually had good food. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Seated and less then 5 minutes later we ordered drinks and an appetizer. Our appetizer was delicious and we ordered our entree. We received it in under 15 minutes. My Sugar pea Beef was cooked perfectly the beef was tender and the pea-pods were very crisp. My boyfriend got the Seafood and Mushrooms which had amazing favor and mushrooms you don't get in even high end restaurants. The price of our meal was WONDERFUL. Dinner for 2 people with and appetizer under 26 dollars is great. I cant wait to go here again. read more

After GrubHub COMPLETELY screwed my delivery up and had to credit me but offered to redeliver (& recharge me for the food and delivery-with a coupon for next time's delivery fee...ummm, next time? Which I said no thanks to)..... And, in the middle of packing/moving, just wanting food, I was totally bummed when my phone rang and the restaurant themselves called me to offer to apologize (for what wasn't even their fault), replace my order (that wasn't their fault was wrong to begin with) AND even offered their own employee to bring it to me. The food was yummy, too! Great flavor (especially the mushrooms/shrimp). I can't speak for other people's food reviews that were negative, but at the bare minimum I would say the customer service, at least on this transaction, was worth me trying to figure out what my Yelp password was so that I could leave them a review. Incredible! The service was the best! Super nice, very patient and great with my children. The food was EXCELLENT! They even brought out a dish they thought my two young daughters would like, since they asked for chicken nuggets, and did not charge us for it (but we would have paid for it). Best salt and pepper squid in the world. The food here is fantastic, the prices are more than reasonable, the staff is friendly, the service is quick. This is a no frills, delicious food kind of place. You will keep coming back here. I first ate here in August of 1992 when I first moved to the United States, it was my first meal in the U.S. More than 20 years later, the food is still phenomenal. My best friend went here, and for the three days after she ate the shrimp, I had to sit by and watch her absolutely miserable from food poisoning. Every time I saw her she was sweating from head to toe, her fever running up to 104-105 degrees. A few things to know first: 1. I am by no means a Chinese food expert, so this review is based purely on whether or not I enjoyed the dishes I was served. 2. I ordered to-go at about 4pm so the speed at which I got my food might be atypical. 3. I was very hungry. 4. I have no real basis for comparison in Portland, as this is the first Chinese restaurant I have been to since I moved here. Ok, as for the review: I ordered the Chicken with Tangy Sauce and the Sesame Chicken and I thoroughly enjoyed both of them. First off, HoHo's only used white meat and it was tender and delicious (for those that like dark meat in their meals, you'll be disappointed). Second, the vegetables in the Chicken with Tangy Sauce were not soggy over-cooked mush; they were just crisp enough to give your teeth something to do and just cooked enough to pull in the flavors of the sauce (which is impressive given that the carrots were shredded). I don't typically like carrots, of which there were an abundance in this tangy chicken dish, but these were lovely. The sesame chicken had no vegetables. Third, there was ample sauce. This might be a deterent for some, but I'm fairly accustomed to it myself and it gives me the option of straining it off if I want a dryer meal, or pouring it on if I want my rice sopping. Lastly, I'd like to point out that the rice was cooked to the point of being fluffy, not over dry or over sticky. Service was fast and friendly. I was offered ice water while I waited. The restaurant wasn't necessarily unique, but it was clean, warm, and inviting; that's all I personally need in an establishment. When the next chinese craving hits, I'll be going back to try some other menu items. read more
