I dream about their original house chai tea all the time. The first time I had it, it was a life changing and transcending experience for me. I had one of those rare moments where it felt like time stopped and the only thing that existed was my hot cup of chai tea and me. I've tried to deconstruct it at home and make it myself, but it's impossible! There's no other chai tea like it that I've ever had before. It's got delicious dried fruits like goji berries, lychee, jujubes and coconut. It's not too sweet and there's a lovely, creamy, coconutty finish that lingers. I don't know what magical ingredient they put in there, but I'm absolutely addicted! Best tea place I've ever had. No exaggeration. And I've tried many teas in my day. Many people nowadays prefer the taste of high fructose corn syrup, overpowering flavors of red dye 40, and the like. I however, am one of the few people left that really enjoy a clean, simple, fresh tasting drink. It's classic. Hojas provides all of this and more. Not only do they have an awesome tea selection, each drink unique in it's own right, but they have breakfast, lunch, and coffee selections, all at an affordable price. You can really tell the quality of their drinks, they only use real or natural sugars and it's always fresh. Which is probably why some people in other posts have complained that it tastes "watered down." Sorry this isn't Starbucks. This beats Starbucks anyday of the week! Commercial companies like that have become burdened by trying to provide the masses with the cheapest ingredients for the highest price and end up compromising quality for profit. All I can say is I am so thankful I live so close to this place! I love Hojas. I am obsessed/addicted to their house chai tea latte - chai is my go to drink at any new place I try and this is the BEST chai I've ever had. I've had a few other hot teas and they have been mind blowing as well - I really need to venture out and try more drinks, especially their other chais, it's just so difficult because I loooooove this house chai so so much. As if the chai isn't enough to keep me coming back all the time - their food is amazing as well. I've had a few desserts - the fruit tart has been my favorite so far, but they're all good! The ham and cheese croissant is so simple yet so delicious and I love having something salty with my chai. The avocado toast does not disappoint at all! It's also the cheapest avocado toast in the area AND it comes with a soft boiled egg on it! The sauce has a nice kick to it and I love arugula with my avocado toast. Scruuuuuuumptious. After hearing countless reviews about this place, I finally got around to trying it! Walked in on a Saturday morning with my fiance & ordered an iced matcha + a vanilla cold brew. BOTH were made to our liking & we agreed that we'd be back to try other items on the menu some time, soon (: The shop itself is super small and I only saw two workers when we were there. Behind the shop, we found a good amount of free parking spots. My rating for this location is strictly because we had to wait about 20 minutes for our drinks. Love love love Hojas! So happy that they opened a Long Beach location. My usual order is an Iced Refreshing Green with Extra Coconut. It's perfect all year round, hot or cold! This location definitely is generous.. I feel like the Wilmington location puts too much ice in my drink to be honest. This place has a great selection of drinks and delicious baked goods! Bored and have a sense of humor/amusement for stupidity? Well, look no further. If you want the world's worst customer service, this is the place to go. Worst customer service, guaranteed! I ordered a green tea mango drink and got this strange coconut milk drink instead. I believe the staff may not know the difference between coconut milk and green tea. They must be new. When asking the staff to remake my drink because it was wrong, they lied and said I had made the wrong order and so they couldn't replace it. I specifically said green tea mango drink. They then proceeded to say that they don't serve any green tea mango drinks without the coconut milk. Which is a lie. It wasn't until I showed them a picture of the drink that the lady retracted her words. Both staff members looked incredibly confused and were defensive about messing up the drink. The matcha latte with coconut was super watered down. I could only taste coconut and no matcha at all. They don't put enough matcha powder given the size (24oz) and the coconut made it really sweet :( Service was good though. I found this gem looking for a more authentic tea place in Long Beach. I'm an avid boba drinker as well as brewing my own tea leaves at home. I wanted a place I could grab some good tea that filled with loads of sugar. I'm so glad I found this place! I'm pretty picky when it comes to tea, and I this has become my favorite tea place. They keep the tea leaves in the cup and the hints of all the other flavors they have are awesome. I've brought some friends here and they all loved the chai teas here. I love hojas, but this time, I had to write a review on the cupcake and how they employee deal with this. I bought a cupcake. I was super excited to eat it, looks delicious right? But when I bit into it, it was stale. I personally paid for my cupcake so as a customer, I should either get my refund, or an exchange. The lady who worked on 11/28/17 at 6pm (there was only 2 and forgot to get her name) mentioned that they can't do exchanges nor refunds. In addition , that employee told me that a lady had complained earlier about another pastry. So if someone already complained, why in the world would you sell the stale pastries. Seriously? A hidden gem that needs more credit. I've been coming here since a coworker introduced me to this Mexican tea house a few months back. And since coming here maybe more than six times, I need to drop a review because their teas taste delicious. Very different than Asian tea houses which I'm more accustomed to. This place uses a very interesting combination of ingredients - lemongrass?, coconut?, rose?, etc. unheard of. My favorite is the lemongrass bouquet which has a nice balance of coconut milk, lemongrass, rose, lavender-these aromatic ingredients are not overpowering in taste as they are very light which to me is a great tea served hot. I'm really picky with the taste of tea since I grew up on premium Taiwanese tea so I can say this place, although their tea is different is really good! Originally was introduced to their Wilmington location as it was close to work, now I frequent their San Pedro location when I'm en route to Wayfarers chapel or a morning hike in PV. I was ecstatic when I heard they were opening one in Long Beach. My favorites are: masala chai-iced, peaceful lavender, quiet primrose, relieve my cold. Quality drinks! Everything on the menu sounded yummy and as a tea enthusiast I was in heaven. It's a cute shop with wifi and tables, a nice study spot! What we ordered: - Victorian Earl Grey w/ vanilla: Strong and deep with notes of roses and vanilla. I LOVE rose tea, so I was very happy with this combo of flavors! It was super sweet though, so I ended up only drinking half and saved the rest for the next morning. It's a big size too. The filter lids are really cool and it's kind of a satisfying feeling finishing the tea and seeing all of the tea leaves at the bottom. Guaranteed freshness. - House Chai: Different from your traditional spiced chai as this one comes infused with various berries. My mom enjoyed it and said the berries added a new layer of flavor to the chai that she wouldn't have thought of. However, her latte was even sweeter than mine! Superrrrr sweet, honestly I wouldn't have been able to bear it. - Caramel Macchiato: Hojas not only serves tea as they offer your basic coffee shop options. My dad got a hot caramel macchiato and it was interesting because his drink was less sweet than the teas. The coffee was strong and the caramel had a deeper flavor than usual. Still a solid coffee though. - Chocolate mousse cake: The best thing we ordered!!! Ganache on top, chocolate mousse in the middle, and chocolate cake on the bottom. Decadent, rich, moist. The ganache was to die for and somehow it wasn't too sweet. Mom said it was the best pastry she's had in a long time. Everything else in the cake shelf looked yummy too! Overall, happy with the experience. It's important to note that preparing the drinks did take longer than your typical coffee shop trip because everything is made fresh. The tea here is BOMB, the teas from a typical boba places doesn't even compare lol. The teas are really strong for reasonable price. I got the iced jazzy jasmine that came with a coconut soy milk and it was sooo good, would highly recommend it (paid a little over $4 for it). My friend got this hot chai tea, inside there were loose tea leaves, and the cup had a special filter to stop the leaves from coming out. They also have free wifi here! DONT BUY GIFT CARDS FROM HERE!!!!!I usually love their teas. But my last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. My husband was given a gift card from hojas, so he went to use it today. Well apparently they don't take the gift cards without checking with the owner, apparently they changed computer systems and only the owner has the records of the balances on each gift card. They tried calling but the owner was not answering. What kind of 1979 problem is this???? It feels like the card is valueless, are we just suppose to keep going and guessing whether the owner will actually answer the phone??? Hojas Tea House is a welcome semi-new addition to this old shopping plaza. I decided to drop by on the way to work to try out their Crema Con Miel. I asked for it less sweet and served hot (wow it was really hot! careful before you sip!). Speed of service was quick and very friendly -- I was in and out in about 10 minutes and on my way to work. Overall, the tea flavor was strong but balanced well with the hints of vanilla and honey. I'm more of a coffee person, so I can't really say how great the tea is, but hey, I'd get it again? Coffee and Teas have kinda became mainstream with starbucks and other teas places... Except that most of them have horrible coffee and tea that is made in a factory and shipped in plastic containers. Some people are okay with half midiorcure coffee and teas... But for those of you that arent okay with bottle teas and milk drinks that starbucks sells calling it coffee...Hojas is probably the most authentic tea house you can find. When u can taste spice and different plants like lavender and rose petals with an authentic black tea or green tea... U will probably never go back to starbucks.. Hojas Is one of my favorite tea shops in town! I love the tonics, I highly recommend the"I'm feeling Healthy" or "I feel relieved"! I love that the tea is loose and fresh. I love the backstory of how the tea house came about. It's very bittersweet but essential to why it's such a great tea house. The only reason why I rated four stars because it's sort of small in there and the service was just okay. A lot of people highly recommend the Wilmington location. I still haven't visited that location, overall I would still recommend Hojas. read more
