This place is awful. My daughter and I stopped here during a layover for dinner. We placed our order, paid, and even tipped before receiving our food. A few minutes later, the employee walked over to our table and said, "We're closed." I explained that we had already paid for our meal. He looked me straight in the face and replied, "Too bad, so sad." I asked to speak with a manager and requested to see his name badge so I could report the incident to corporate, but he refused to let me see or photograph it. The customer service was completely unacceptable. While we were there, he told other customers he was "just having a long day," but that's no excuse for treating people so disrespectfully. We weren't the only customers he was rude to; he was openly hostile to several others also. Everyone has difficult days, but professionalism and basic courtesy still matter. You are at the airport, so expect to pay a little bit more lol. I ordered the meat lovers. You place your order on the self serve kiosk and it took about 15/20 minutes to receive my pizza fresh from the oven. The pizza wasn't bad, but it also wasn't the best pizza I've ever had. While awaiting my next flight I just needed a cup of coffee. Easy self ordering at the counter on a kiosk. Took about 3 minutes to be served a piping hot, decent cup of coffee. $5 for 16 Oz cup, not bad for the airport. The condiments were well stocked, sugars, real creamer, stirers and easily reachable. The service was great and the waitress super nice and friendly. Since I was looking to eat a salad before my flight, I should have read reviews for Home Run Inn before I sat down to eat. I ordered the Harvest Salad, no blue cheese, no protein. The salad arrived quickly with a healthy portion of.....wait for it.......BLUE CHEESE. The greens, a mix of iceberg and field greens had slight browning along knife cuts making for a visually unappealing mix. If you looked at it casually and not too close from a distance, it may look fine. But I would not serve this salad to a good friend or family. There was however a healthy mound of craisens. There was also, how should I say it, a generous portion of strawberries that were not fresh. Some of the slices so soft they smooshed. I assume they must have been around the kitchen a while, and hey, it's Chicago Midway International Airport in mid-October. I'll admit it. I had unrealistic expectations. The sliced almonds were fine. The poppy seed dressing was unusually gloppy but tasted fine. The waitress noticed how I was picking at the first iteration of the Harvest Salad that arrived with the blue cheese and noticed immediately the problem. I also let her know that the salad was not very fresh. She said "Give that back to me. You're paying good money for that salad." The second iteration arrived as described above. Her heart and head were in the right place but alas this kitchen disappoints. Now I assume if you are having a pizza, burger, beer etc. it's probably fine. At the airport, waiting for my connecting Southwest flight, I neither had an appetite for something heavy, nor did I want to get sucked into expensive airport food so I walked around and spotted this place. It has a bar area if you have time for a drink and some finger food, this is the spot in Concourse B. There's also pizza and chicken wings to-go. This day, I opted for the boneless wings version, buffalo sauce and a ranch sauce on the side. It did the job nicely. No superlatives or long narratives here--just food that is good enough to satiate a tiny craving. Maybe I'll sit at the bar next time since it looked busy. Not bad. read more

Midway is a terrible airport. It only makes sense that within its hallowed halls filled with rage-filled travelers and annoying natives that the food options would be, for the most part, terrible. The Home Run Inn's sign promised pizza. I somehow squeezed up onto the bar (why is there a goddamn PILLAR right behind my seat) and I ordered pizza. I got raw dough with meat that looked like it was about to start moving. Strike one. Fortunately, as of this writing, I haven't contracted salmonella poisoning. Then there's the service. The bartender/server/troglodyte was attentive at first. But, when I decided to just have water in lieu of a nine dollar (!!!) bottle of beer, his attitude turned. I'm a pretty affable guy, so I'm confident I didn't do anything to upset him. Strike two. Well, maybe I did. See, I asked if he could refill my Smart Water water bottle instead of getting a cup of water because, you know, plastic waste. "We can't do that, sir." ...ok, then. I doubt that. I'm too lazy to look up rules and regulations of this dump, but my guess is that he's too lazy. And when I suggested I would pour the water from my cup into my bottle, his biggest concern was me making a mess. Strike three. Spoiler alert: water dries and is easy to clean up AND it's your ******* job to wipe down the bar in the event of a "mess." I hate traveling to MDW. For many reasons. By far the worse food I've had at any airport. Salad has rotten strawberries and apples. How is this place even in business? Never again.

The pizza tasted disgusting for the first two seconds of me chewing it because as soon as I bit down on a piece of cartilage and it crunched in my mouth I had to spit out what I bit off and couldn't eat the rest. When I complain to the manager I was met with rudeness and what I felt was a sense of entitlement. The manager's name was Kelly and she offered absolutely no assistance and basically said it was my own issue to deal with... I told her that customer service even more than the food was the reason that they have a two-star rating and she informed me that I should go ahead and have a nice day. Not about sums it up. I went to another locations, and had a horrible experience, and it seems as much as Home Run Inn is expanding, they are not keeping the quality (service and food) they had with only two restaurants (31st and Darien). Recently I was at the 31st location, they gave my colleague the wrong food after she left with our students, she left with the students and I waited for her food, and it was the wrong food). I was at the Archer location and they messed up our order several times and the manager would not give us any type of compensation for our inconvenience. Bad food and bad service = me not spending my money there anymore. If you need more. At the Archer location, I ordered a pizza with ¼ sausage, and the rest had pepperoni and mushrooms. When they brought the pizza, it was just the opposite. I hate pepperoni and mushrooms. So we sent it back, and they just put put pepperoni and mushrooms and the rest of the pizza., but they had me wait for a small pizza with just sausage, which is what I ordered for the ¼. when we asked if we could be compensated some type of way, they said, "No!" we had a pizza. Not to mention every time they used the blender, the lights flickered. My friends and I joked, "Let's order a drink from that blender, to see the lights flicker!" But why give them more money, when they were not accommodating for paying customers. And again, I say with more locations, the quality of Home Run Inn has suffered. I was told by a server that it wasn't her side and I had to ask the other server. There was no attempt to help get my food.
