Ordered take out Sunday night. Super fast and fresh. Pad kee mow is tasty and medium spicy is pretty spicy! It's not bland or oily at all. In addition had the special Koi Sao curry noodle with chicken instead of beef and it's SO GOOD! I like the crispy noodle topping, pickled veggies and onions on it! The only suggestion I would say is make sure you ask for the noodles on the side because they soak up the curry and it was given together. Tried 4 other Thai places in Martinez / Pleasant Hill area and this one is the best so far with all the dishes being done well! This will be my new Thai place :) read more

I ordered Tom Kha soup and asked them to add shrimp and chicken. The menu said it was $15 and +$1 for chicken and plus $4 for shrimp, somehow that came to $22. The guy said it wasn't a mistake and some other words that didn't make sense to me, but I paid anyway and left with my soup. When I got home and started eating, there were not any shrimps, not even 1. So I paid $22 for something that should have been $16. Also was not spicy at all, but that may be on me for not saying I wanted it spicy, wasn't asked either though. Anyway, I like Thai food and so was wondering why I don't eat there more often. I was unimpressed a few years ago but forgot why so thought to give it another try. read more

My daughter raves about Home Thai Kitchen (located at the Virginia Hills Shopping Center in Martinez) so her friend was sweet enough to deliver it to us for dinner. I was eager to try it because in another review, someone stated that it tastes as good as Wat Phou. Well Wat Phou was my absolute go to Thai restaurant before they closed down in Concord. We would go there at least once a week. And Home Thai Kitchen did remind me of Wat Phou! Yay! We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Kee Mow (aka drunken noodles), Eggplant Beef, and Fried Chicken over Fried Rice. Just by looking at our orders, I knew it would taste authentic. The Beef Kee Mow was delicious. I requested lots of heat and they delivered! It truly is a meal in itself. The broccoli still had a crunch to them and the flower-shaped carrots were a nice touch. My daughter gets Pad Thai every single time. She doesn't stray. And my husband loves eggplant, so I knew he would enjoy the Eggplant Beef. The eggplant kept its texture and weren't overcooked. We ordered the Fried Chicken over Fried Rice because you rarely see it on Thai menus. Similar to chicken katsu but it comes with sweet and sour sauce. Generous portions! Now that we tasted Home Thai Kitchen, I'll have to ask my daughter to pick some up when we're craving Thai food since she works in the area. read more

I found this place as I was Looking for Thai food in Concord, but noticed this place was 10 mins away from Sunvalley Mall. Home Thai Kitchen served me the best meal I could've asked for. I ordered the all Veggie Green Curry. Usually, Restaurants tend to overlook veggie dishes, but i can assure you that wasn't the case at Home Thai Kitchen. The curry was full of herbs, chilies, and perfectly prepared veggies. The Eggplant was seared perfectly and gave the spicy dish the right amount of natural sweetness. The one staff member in front was beyond sweet and helpful when I placed my order. As soon as I placed my order I could hear the kitchen getting to work, my meal was in-front of me in under 10 minutes. I enjoyed every last bite. I even ordered more jasmine rice because it was so fluffy. The chef was so happy I enjoyed my meal she even popped out of the kitchen to accept my thanks personally. I love finding restaurants that represent their food and their culture this well. The best part was that I didnt even pay as much as I was expecting to pay!! Dont give your money to a corporate spot that only views you as another number, support places like this one so that they can continue to serve up incredible dishes to the community. I will most definitely drive back to Martinez specifically for this food. read more

I've been going here for years. Mostly take out. However, we stopped in tonight for dinner and it's unbelievable. The food has gotten even BETTER! The service was excellent, and they've really put an extra effort in beautifying the decor. The music was quite upbeat also. Even as a geezer i felt it lift my spirits. They have a new chicken dumpling appetizer that was really fantastic. I also had my old favorite po tak seafood soup and their crispy veggie rolls. Really wonderful. I highly recommend the po tak seafood soup (medium spicy) as a cure for whatever ails you. Although their take out is delicious, convenient and fast, I really recommend dining in because the food and ambiance really make for a wonderful time. read more

This is by far some of the best Thai food I'd ever had. When I first relocated from SF it was difficult to find great good until I was introduced to Home Thai Kitchen! Absolutely top notch. The service was great, we came before lunch and they were happy to let us in. Our waitress was tentative, she constantly checked on us and topped our water. Very nice atmosphere and the food was excellent! We had our regular go-to-food at any Thai restaurant and they were outstanding: pad thai, curry, crab fried rice etc. The crab lagoon was a little chill (not hot) but it was fine. Crabs come from the sea so they're supposed to be chill right? :) They do offer outside seating but during lunch you will be live-baked, so I suggest taking it inside for your comfort. Overall, great place, great service, will definitely come again. read more

First time review here. After my significant other had a craving of pad sew. We thought we'd try this restaurant down the street. We were greeted with a very loud. Hello/Welcome! (It made me feel like I was walking into a family party) We ate outside. It was nice outside. Make sure to be mindful of what you order. It might not fit on the tables outside! (Not the table's fault!) Okay. The food! I ordered the fried chicken over fried rice. It reminds me of a chicken katsu type of breaded chicken. But this was different. It was saltier. Tastier. And the fried rice reminds me of rice that's been cooked in an iron skillet after cooking a steak. Savory. Salty. And slight hint of burnt rice. Which I like! Oh. And the Thai iced tea. Was HUGE! It's a busy spot, and the food, well, it has great seasoning and flavor, but lack in spice, perfect for them white folks in the area. For me, I'd rather choose a spicier option. I got the red curry and well, don't get me wrong, it tasted good and it was filled with vegetables and etc. but in terms of finding spicy, maybe not here... This is the best thai food in the Bay Area. Top dishes are - pad kee mao, eggplant basil, and the panang curry. We actually got take out for our rehearsal dinner from here it was so good and everyone couldn't stop raving about it. They also have a special currently called chicken paradise which is seriously delicious. The people who work here are also incredibly nice. Great place to grab a quick dinner and takeout. read more

My son decided our dinner was going to be Thai and this is a place I've been wanting to try for a while now. Seems like it's always busy and an early dinner was perfect. We were seated immediately and there was another single patron across the restaurant. We were given menus and water. We decided on two orders of chicken wings for apps and tom kha soup. Spicy eggplant and larb gai for entree. The chicken wings looked a bit overcooked and there was a sweet sauce next to it, not poured over like other places with fried basil. Kinda disappointing but flavor wise, it was typical fried chicken. The tom kha arrived and it was a bit of a stingy bowl of soup, just enough to have soup and bits in each small cup for the 4 of us. Not enough if tom kha is a favorite. Good flavor, but definitely could use more coconut milk. The larb gai was by far my favorite. It was limed up, spicy kick, and perfect with enough mint to go around. I eat it like lettuce wraps; some like to eat it with rice. I couldn't get enough of it; my nose was running because of the spice and I just continued to eat it because it was so yummy! The eggplant was good but by the time I got to it, I had already knocked down a few lettuce wraps and spoonfuls of tom kha, I was pretty full. Not so full that I passed up dessert. Mango with sticky rice is my favorite so of course I HAD TO. I ignored all signs of my fullness to have a few bites of sweet sticky rice and sweet mango. I was in heaven! We were all pretty satisfied with our dinner and it's going on our family favorites of Thai restaurants we will be regulars of! read more

My wife discovered Home Thai Kitchen during the COVID pandemic lockdown. Like many, we were craving fresh, tasty, and reasonable priced take out options so we could avoid eating our cooking every day. This is a very good local restaurant that is very C - O - N - S - I - S - T - E - N - T in cooking with fresh ingredients (it is noticeable), excellent flavors (love the use of spice, heat, etc.), and the meal preparation seems un-rushed and done with a kitchen staff that cares. When we get home to unbox and eat, there is always a smile on our face! First comments out our mouths is "fresh", "flavor", and "want to order XYZ dish again". I will admit I was a bit biased before trying Home Thai Kitchen as most of the local Thai restaurant food in the Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek/Layfayette area all tasted similar. I cannot recall any particular dish or dishes that were memorable. Not the case at Home Thai Kitchen as they have weekly specials and they will adjust the spice and heat as requested. Home Thai stood out for us and is now in our regular restaurant rotation for healthy and flavorful food options. Give them a try, support a true local business, and give them feedback so they will continue to cook tasty Thai food that is different from others. PS: We tried many dishes and honestly, they have all been very good. read more

Just by accident when we realized the place we were going was closed. We saw this places and decided to have lunch here instead because it was open. Surprisingly very good. We order fresh rolls with shrimp. Nice / different presentation. We order chicken pad Thai. Lots of chicken and noodles not too soggy. Very well cook . We also had green vegetables pumpkin curry. Delicious great largest pieces of veggies , if u like egg plant is perfectly for you. Nice , clean place; good service; and great portion; with decent prices. Literally walking distance for my family & I , warm & cozy atmosphere for this mom and pop dinning. YesSs!! They are open in this pandemic region we are all in. I have been to this place more times then I can count. Good news for us vegans or vegetarians. Plus those who are carnivores like my husband, they have such a great selection for us vegans. What a great find! I like to think of myself as a pad Thai connoisseur and so I was pleasantly happy that I did enjoy theirs. They were reasonably priced and their menu has the common and popular Thai items which were nice and not overwhelming. had great options. The service was great even though it was one lady running the front and she provided some great recommendations right off the bat and the most popular items. We started with the veggie rolls and the calamari. Both delicious and not overly oily. We then got the panang curry with pumpkin and beef and the pad Thai. Both delicious and well spiced. Definitely going to make this one of my top thai places to go to. Wish they delivered, but I guess I can just not be lazy and drive 10 min there lol. read more

This place is open for takeout during COVID-19. To my surprise and liking, they have a small barrier/cashier table setup at the door of the restaurant, so that people can easily socially distance while ordering. You can also call in your order ahead of time and pay when you pick up! I enjoyed my takeout food with the portions being the same as if we were dining in and the time to wait for food was not terrible. I've never had any critique on their flavors and taste, so that hasn't changed either. They even tried to come out to the car when the food was done. Wow! So happy we finally stepped inside and had dinner at Home Thai Kitchen. Everything was delicious! We had spring rolls, gotta love that peanut sauce, pad se ew, and one of their specials with pork belly that was soooo good! Excellent food! Clean and fresh authentic taste. Good amount of serving. The place has some hanging decor that's cute. Service is prompt and very warm. It's like eating in your relative's home.
