I waited close to 40 minutes for my food, which in itself it was disappointing. To make matters worse, the guys handing out the food just slammed the tray in the counter and moved on. I understand how busy lunch was but this is unacceptable. After waiting 40 minutes, I had no time to eat at the restaurant anymore. Coming from Southern California, I'm pretty used to more casual hipster type of food. We came to Honeygrow because it was literally across the street from our hotel and the reviews looked pretty good. For a fast casual place, Honeygrow definitely isn't bad. There was no line when we came in around 3 PM in the afternoon but it still took about 15-20 minutes for my food to come out. My stir fry was average at best. Space and seating was plentiful and I saw lots of students/businesspeople working on their laptops. Overall not a bad spot, but not somewhere I'd specifically return to. read more

The Honeygrow staff greeter was very friendly and helpful. And the kiosks where you input your order is super intuitive, so there's basically no problem ordering. I ordered the sweet soy five to go. The dish was sweet and savory. Plentiful sauce, and just a tad spicy with black pepper. The ground turkey was nice and browned, tender on the inside, and in fork-eatable chunks rather than tiny fragments that one would need a spoon for. The green beans were crunchy and flavorful. Little squares of red onions were pleasant surprises of crunch amidst the saucy brown rice. Quickly but freshly stir fried-- if you want a fast bite but want a newly cooked feel to your meal, Honeygrow is a good choice. read more

I'd avoided trying it for a while, pegging them as just another hipstery spot with bland attempts at healthy food but boy was I wrong. Needed a quick dinner option to go so I can head back to my hotel and finish up some work for the day. Honeygrow was in the neighborhood and had great reviews, so I stopped in. Upon walking in, their menu is nicely displayed on a chalkboard and there are several iPads set up to place your own ordered. The prompts are incredibly easy to follow. After you order, there is an old school number sign that will show your number as soon as your order is ready to be picked up at the window. I ordered the sesame garlic stir fry noodle bowl which was whole wheat noodles, braised beef, mushrooms, broccoli, scallions and sesame seeds. It carried very well to go. However it was very heavy on the sauce. I think it would have been better to go lighter on the sauce and get extra on the side if needed. They do have some available complimentary sauces I grabbed some sriracha and hoisin sauce as well. I also ordered a cup from their honeybar. This was obviously the star of the two items I ordered. The way this works is you select three fruits - I got pineapple, strawberries and blueberries. Then you select a honey or maple syrup - I ordered the wildflower honey. You then have the option to add two toppings - I went with dark chocolate chips and granola. This was a really fun after dinner treat. The fruit was incredibly fresh, the honey added a light sweetness, the granola brought crunch and the chocolate was a great surprise in every bite. Together this medley of flavors worked really well together. This also seems to be a honeybar staple as many of the yogis from the studio next door we're stopping in to grab their cup. When I'm back in town I'll definitely stop by to get another honeybar cup! read more

So I thought I would give this location a try since I was in the area today... when you go in you have to use the computer they have to pick your food. Well guess what? my noodles had no sauce on it at all, even though I stated spicy garlic sauce on my order..they were so dry. Nothing like the Seaport location who gets my order correct everytime...I would never go back to this place again. can't even get a simple order correct. Finally tried honeygrow for dinner and I loved it! I really enjoyed ordering on the ipads because it made it much easier to customize my order without getting stressed or overwhelmed. I built my own bowl with the egg noodles, chicken and beef, broccoli, green beans, snow peas, cilantro, sesame seeds, and the sesame garlic sauce. The food came out pretty fast - definitely less than 10 minutes. I really enjoyed my bowl. I thought the chicken was better than the beef, since the beef was pretty well done, but I can understand why that would be the case in a fast casual place like this. I thought the sauce on the bowl was delicious! It stuck to everything so every bite was super tasty. I do wish it was just a bit more garlicky, but it was still really, really good. The veggies were all cooked perfectly so they still had the right amount of crunch. I also got a fountain drink - tried both the lemonade and blueberry soda. The lemonade was very good, but the blueberry soda was delicious. I could drink that all day long. I'll dream of it. Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner. We've been twice in three days, that's how much of a craving it induced. However, a few tips: Taking your order to go may not be the best option - the first time I did and ended up with way too many noodles and not enough sauce, causing it to be not flavorful enough (red curry dish). Chalked this up to not being able to go back and ask for more sauce. Second time, I ordered without noodles - love the option for Boston lettuce cups instead - and my stir fry was perfect and well flavored, making me think it was healthier than it probably was ;) The honeygrow bar looks awesome (again, looks more like dessert - WHIPPED CREAM?! than a healthy snack as advertised) and their sodas are amazing especially the Maine Root Blueberry. The train flip board is so cool for order numbers but I could see the order screens getting really backed up if this place was busy. The staff each time has been awesome. To be clear - unless you go straight salad with little dressing or straight yogurt and fruit, "health food" this is not. read more

3.5 stars. I like what they're doing, but they need a little work. I adore the idea that you order with iPads, where you get to completely customize what you want without either holding up the line behind you or being totally misheard. Also love that everything is cooked to order, and is somewhat healthy-ish (compared to the usual fried or processed stuff you see at many fast casual joints). I'm a fan of the solid number of options for veg, protein, and toppings (could use a few more sauce options though IMO), and the portions are a good size for a normal appetite. And the flavors are generally tasty too- veggies and noodles seem fresh, sauces are nice (sesame garlic is a good choice, vs. the red coconut curry has less flavor than I would have expected). Plus they're all about 'real' and 'local' and all that good stuff, so you can feel good about eating here. My first time was during their soft open, so naturally it took way longer to get my food than it should have, but they apologized and my order was accurate and tasty (DIY rice noodles stir-fry with sesame garlic sauce). The second time (similar stir-fry but with red coconut curry), my food came pretty quickly, but was a bit off (I asked for dine-in but was given it to-go, one of my toppings- cashews- was missing). Also, toppings/veggies were concentrated in one section with uneven/light sauce, which left large chunks of my noodles bare, so you might get a better distribution if you dine in instead. I also cringe at the price for lunch ($9-12 for stir-fry), although that seems to be where the market is anyway, so maybe I just need to give up my memories of getting a filling lunch for ~$6 anymore... It's a fresh change compared to other similar spots, with different ingredients and new ideas. I generally do a custom salad, but their noodles are also delicious. Look out if you order on Caviar though. For me, the toppings usually don't match their menu so you get less things, plus they forget the salad dressing almost every time. read more

I'll start off by saying that I am not a fan of stir fry; I'll eat it but it's not my favorite. I came here with a coworker because it was new and I was tired of the options that we've been to so many times. I like that there are touch screen pads to order your food so you'll know exactly what you ordered and there is no way for it to get messed up. The selection that had was great too, I was able to find something to order, especially in how picky I am. Everything is made to order so we did have to wait a bit, but I don't mind because I know it's fresh and somewhat of a healthier alternative from the usual fast food/fast casual places. I ordered the sour cherry bbq, and let me tell you, it was delicious! As I said before, I'm not a fan or stir fry, but this one was so good. I ate everything, there was just enough spice and flavor, I loved it! After we finished eating, the manager came over and asked if our meals were good, whether we had any complaints, and I thought it was a nice touch! What I didn't love was how pricey this place is, for a drink and my stir fry, I paid almost $18! Omg literally some of the best stir fry noodles! Decided to order from this place because your first delivery of $15 or more is free on Door Dash for this restaurant. I got a create your own and omgsh it is tasty! I was kinda nervous about the sauce because I'm very picky and sometimes sensitive to garlic but after looking at all the reviews "garlic sesame" seemed to be a popular option and now I know why! Great flavor and not overwhelming garlic, which I appreciate! This is everything I look for in my noodles, fresh veggies not over cooked and with flavor! So much flavor I had to call and double check there was no MSG. And guess what NO MSG!!!!! Hooray for healthy junk food! I love similar types of pick-your-ingredients places and also love stir-fry and so was excited to try the place. Though the employees were quite friendly and helpful, I found the ordering process clumsy and the food a little disappointing. Their menu does not list any prices, so you must use their self-service ordering screens which could be designed to be much easier. I ordered a rice stir fry and a noodle stir fry to share with a friend. When I opened the boxes, I realized that both had a tiny sprinkling of vegetables and meat on the top, with huge clump of rice and noodles on the bottom. My understanding of "stir-fry" is that all of the ingredients are sired and cooked together in a wok. It appeared that they were adding the pre-cooked and pre-measured ingredients from little plastic baggies. The place has all the ingredients to be great, but the execution is not quite there yet. Perhaps some changes to signage and better balance of the ingredients and preparation could make all the difference. read more

The food is actually pretty good, but it's fairly basic. Throw a protein, some select vegetables, a starch, and some sauce in a wok and mix it around. Order's ready. Unfortunately, this is a hard task to grasp for the team at Honeygrow. I'm a huge fan of their Philly spaces having lived there formerly, but this location is a withered husk of what the Philly restaurant is. Here are the reasons why they get a 1 star: 1) When they are busy, they start getting orders wrong. The past 2 out of 3 times the same guy working the computer giving out people's food gave the wrong food to the wrong person. The system or the team need work. I thought this was going to get better over time but it hasn't. 2) Even when they are not busy, they get orders wrong. Twice I've ordered online and TWICE they've screwed up. 3) Customer service is absolute trash. When trying to reconcile the fact that they got my order wrong over the phone I was rebuffed multiple times with the response "well since you ordered on the app there's nothing I can do about it." No apology, just a vacant, hollow response. I believe her name was Akilo or Akira. It really is too bad that a team with such promise has that kind of bad apple in it. Look, Honeygrow makes a 3/5 star product with a cookie cutter process that for some reason continues to fail. If you're looking for a quick bite, I recommend trying it but know that they'll probably strike out. Not good if you're right next to Fenway. read more

It was good but other restaurants do better The prices are misleading, the self order kiosk quotes like "9-11$" this is for a stir fry with very few extras. When I added up all the ingredients it was over 14$. Things I didn't like: green beans hard/not cooked enough, Pineapple hard, ordered egg-didn't see any egg, didn't order mushrooms-saw mushrooms, ordered cashews-got very few. They had some interesting drink choices which i liked, Mexican cola and blueberry soda. Started school this fall at Simmons College and have spent a few of my weekends exploring the local off-campus dining options that are reasonably priced. Had lunch here today and it was absolutely fantastic! I love being able to customize the stir-fry and salad bowls with different vegetables and bases and sauces. I tried the sweet and spicy turkey stir fry thing but I replaced the brown rice with an egg noodle base and added some mushrooms and scallions and it was delicious! I had to pay a little extra to add the extra veggies, but not much and it was totally worth it. I had such a great experience at honeygrow. I was hesitant to try it because I figured it would be just another sweetgreen. I was headed to a show at House of Blues and wanted to grab a quick bite, and since I'm on Whole 30 it seemed like the only option around. I was genuinely surprised from the time I entered until the time I left. For starters, you order on an iPad and you can customize your meal and pay right there. I ordered a Kale Winter Sai and added a couple things to it. The dressing on it was light and flavorful and the portion was huge. My friend got a stir fry and she really enjoyed that as well.
