Honolulu Hotpot Hale are the same owners as the Honolulu Skewer House. Located in the same building as JJ's Bakery, in the building next to Ke'eamouku Walmart. It's not a very large place but it's nice because the tables are far apart. Although I don't believe you need a reservation, I would recommend one because there aren't too many tables. My friend & I both got the Hale mild soup (this broth is really spicy, so I recommend not getting the Hale spicy soup unless you like it extremely hot). We shared the yard of brisket, the V1 mushroom set, V2 greens set, and the homemade noodles. The brisket was good and a huge amount but reasonable for a yard (1 lb.) The handmade noodles were my favorite. Chewy and you could tell it was fresh! The meat comes with one dipping sauce. I wish I went with the lime vinegar sauce because the skewer house seasonings was too dry. They're a little pricey, but it also depends on how much you're ordering. Not sure if they have parking, but we parked at Ala Moana and I'm sure there's parking around that area that you could park as well. A unique hot pot place with lots a variety. A little pricier, but if you like Chinese/Taiwanese foods, this may be a good place. read more

A great new place for for some quality hot pot! I believe it's a newer spot that is the sister restaurant of the skewer place. This place is located across the Ala Moana Mall. Each person gets their own individual pot that comes with a choice of five flavors. We got the Hale mild soup and the Chinese sauerkraut soup base. The mild soup base is actually a bit spicy (so don't get the spicy one unless you really can handle the spice). I tried the Chinese sauerkraut one and also liked the flavors of that broth. We ordered a good amount of items to share among each other. The Prime Short Rib and Prime Beef Brisket were on point. The quality of the items were definitely present. The side dish of the Little Fried Pork and pitcher of tropical fruit tea is a must get. Overall, everything we had was delicious. read more

We came here hoping for an authentic Chinese hotpot experience. Everything was good, from the broth, dipping sauce, to a variety of food choices and PRESENTATION. It's clear that people here put their hearts into preparing their food. The fifth broth flavor, ie, sour pickle soup, was unique and authentic. One could argue that it's on the pricy side, but if you visit Hawaii and is willing to spend over 50 dollars for Teppanyaki, I'd say that this hotpot gem won't disappoint. Two things that can be improved are (as it seems that the owner is actively interacting with yelpers here): 1) we got the regular beef slices, which are a bit thicker for my taste; 2) it'd be nice to offer half-half dipping sauce combos. I was stuck with the dry dipping sauce for the whole meal and was pretty tired of it in the end. read more

Nice spot for some hot pot after having one too many Mai tais. Ambience and service were good. Meat quality and veggies were on point. I just wish they maybe had a combo plate that we could order vs having to get everything individually. That in itself made the meal pretty expensive for two. Probably my only knock on the place besides the parking situation. Would come back because they have a good selection and the broths were delicious. read more

This is our favorite hot pot place on Oahu. The broth and sauce are excellent, as are the dipping sauces. They have great deals throughout the week, such as buy one yard of meat get one yard free on Tuesdays (selected meats excluded). The servers are great and attentive too and we love how centrally located the place is and the decor inside. We'll gladly continue to return. read more

First time going here with my bestfriend. She got the Chinese Sauerkraut Soup with Mild Sesame Sauce. It had really great flavor but it was also pretty spicy. My friend loves her spicy so it was perfect for her but for me it was little too spicy. I was planning to get the Hale Spicy Soup but the waiter advised against it because it would be super duper spicy. I am so glad I got the Hale Mild Soup which the waiter recommended. It was definitely not a mild for most people. It wasn't super spicy but it was a Spice Level 2-3 in my opinion, not a mild. We shared the prime beef short rib (half yard), little fried pork, S2, S3 and V1. Added H3 handmade noodles at the end thinking we would want starch and it was actually a little too much for both of us. Guess our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs... haha. Don't forget to write a review on Yelp to get a free Tropical Fruit Tea drink which is $15.99 for the pitcher! Anyways, overall everything was really delicious. About $80 not including tip for both of us, $40 a person is not a bad price for hotpot. Definitely will come back here again! Check out the owner's other restaurant, Honolulu Skewer House on Kapahulu as well. Really love their skewers! read more

One of the best hot pot in Hawaii! They have a great selection of sets (meats, vegetable, seafood, starch). I got the hale spicy with the mild sesame and I got to say, it is not for the weak. It has a kicking heat, so spicy that I ended up drinking two cups of water and a cup of fruit tea (really good as well!) Expect to pay around $40-60 per person as their sets can pile up in price, especially when you get the yard-long meat platter read more

Came for their soft opening! We tried the Hale Mild soup and the Beef Broth soup, both of which were tasty. We like the wide range of meat options--our favorite was the Beef Belly! We do wish the menu was a bit more a la carte, but the sets create a fun and distinct experience! Definitely sets it apart from other hotpot on the island. We felt they were a little short staffed but it is only their soft opening, and surely they're working out the kinks as they move towards the grand opening. The servers who were working responded quickly when we requested additional orders of food or when our flames burned out. One drawback is there is little-to-no parking during dinner because the building garage had closed by the time of our dinner (7pm). You'll have to rely on parking on the street, in the Walmart parking lot, or at Ala Moana. Just hold on to your purses and bags because this area is kind of sketchy and we saw a young lady get her purse stolen across the street while we were waiting to be seated! Looking forward to the future of Honolulu Hotpot Hale! :) read more

My friends and I tried Honolulu Skewer House before and really liked the food there and the same owner opened Honolulu Hotpot! We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. Interior: The restaurant isn't super big, but it's still a good size. I personally really like the open space because it feels cozy. Everything was clean and the space was brightly lit. Food: My friend asked about the free drink for making a post/writing a review and they gave us a free pitcher of their fruit tea, which was sooo good & refreshing! I got their original beef soup and really liked it. I wasn't sure which sauce to pick and asked for a recommendation and the owner suggested the lime vinegar sauce. I was worried about a strong vinegar taste but he told me it's not too strong, so I went with it and I was not disappointed. Must try! All the food we ordered was very tasty and my friends were saying how the meat was really good quality Service: There were 3 servers (the owner was one of them) and they had lots to do (taking orders, bringing out the food, refilling water/soup, wiping down and setting tables, etc.) but we got our food pretty quickly. The service was excellent The owner was very friendly and made some jokes with us when he took our order. The other 2 servers were attentive and friendly as well. ~Side note~ I found out that for one of the servers, it was actually his 1st day and we all know that can be kinda crazy/overwhelming. In case you see this, I just wanted to say, you did a GREAT JOB for your 1st day!! Dessert: We wanted to try their mung bean milk shake bowl, but they ran out So we got ice cream, vanilla + ube flavor. Definitely gonna try their mung bean dessert the next time I go! They didn't give us our bill as we sat for a bit and talked (probably since it was late and there weren't any waiting customers) but I really appreciated that since I didn't feel like we were rushed to leave. Overall: The price we paid for 6 people was very worth. We all had an enjoyable dinner and will definitely be back Loved the relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Best soup base ever! Came here on the first day of their soft opening, not too much options on menu and most vegetables and seafoods has to be ordered in sets which i thought of it weird. came back the second time and noticed that they adjusted their menu and everything could be ordered individually! Not much to say about the soup base, it's amazing. i'm a huge fan of spice and can handle extreme spice levels, i had always been looking for a hotpot place that serves spicy soups that satisfies my taste and this has to be the one. They're offering a free pitch of mixed fruit tea if you make a post on social media. When i took a sip of the tea, i can't think of any boba tea shops that makes better or similar taste fruit tea, and my friends agreed with me. i'm dead serious No parking though, suggest to park at walmart and walk over. A little pricy, average spending for a person is about $50+. overall i think it's worth it, meats are fresh and has thick cuts; great customer services; nice environment for gatherings and hang outs. New top in my rankings of restaurants and will be coming back for sure read more

Made an impromptu visit to Honolulu Hotpot Hale on a Tuesday evening with no wait. We'd heard about this spot through Amanda and Felix and found it to be the perfect place to get our hot pot fix. It's about a 10 minute drive from Waikiki beach and is conveniently located behind the Ala Moana mall (near Target level 1). We decided on the Chinese Sauerkraut (chef super recommendation) and the Hale Medium Spicy soup base. The Chinese Sauerkraut was the perfect balance of savory and sour which complimented the lamb and prime beef short rib well. The Hale medium spicy soup base has a bit of a kick with strong Chinese mala spice flavoring. Service was attentive and team members were ready to top off our pots with extra broth when needed. Highly recommend the fish cake set (S2) and glass and sweet potato noodles (V6). Restaurant is spacious with tables catering to many party sizes but reservations are recommended for big parties. Delicious individual hot pot with fresh, tasty ingredients. Excited to visit again on our next visit to Honolulu! read more

We went to Honolulu Hotpot Hale since I kept seeing them on my way to Ala Moana. I love hot pot and I will definitely be coming back. I ordered the Chinese Sauerkraut soup and the sister ordered the original beef broth. I ordered the half yard of pork and she got S1, Kauai shrimp, fish, abalone and squid. That plate was impressive and only $19.99!! The lime vinegar sauce was delish! Definitely a one of a kind spot for hotpot. Great meat selection, starting with the amazing wagyu brisket. Next was the short rib which was to die for. The pork and rib eye cuts were also so delicious and addicting. Highly underrated noodle and rice quality as it paired perfectly with the meats and the soup selection. Texture and taste were definitely a unique experience to try for sure! Overall, a great experience and place to keep going to! read more

First time at this hot pot place! Have walked by many times. We came on Wednesday for the half off wagyu special. We were seated right away. Everything was delicious especially on a colder day! The waiter was very attentive and let us try multiple sauces. I do wish there were larger side sets that had more compiled veggie options etc. It's more of a separate ala cart menu. Ended our soups with the handmade noodles 10/10. Unfortunately they were out of the mung bean mike shake bowl dessert - will be sure to come back another time to try it! read more

We've tried competitors' Mai Tais, but Monkeypod has THE BEST Mai Tai on the island (possibly the country)! It contains a double shot of rum, so pace yourself if you're a lightweight. What makes this extraordinary is the lilikoi (passion fruit) foam on the top. It's the reason I am "passion"ately in love with this cocktail. We've eaten at a table in their main dining room, however, we really enjoy bar seating during Happy Hour, which is from 3:30pm-5:00pm, daily (except select holidays) and again from 9:00pm-11:00pm. It is first come first serve at the bar. If you prefer table seating, be sure to make a reservation. The wait can be long without one. Their Happy Hour items include all of their appetizers at half price, excluding any seafood. Cocktails are $4 off, beers $2 off, wine by the glass $3 off and the pizzas (excluding the Bourgeois) are $17. I was really looking forward to trying Honolulu Hotpot Hale, but unfortunately, the experience fell short due to disappointing service. Our server was unhelpful and unfriendly, making us feel unwelcome throughout our meal. They advertised a 15% off promotion on Mondays, but when we inquired about it after being charged the full amount, we were told it required posting on Instagram and tagging the business--something that wasn't mentioned anywhere in the advertisement. When we pointed this out, the server said there was nothing she could do because we already paid. It's concerning because, under Hawaii law, advertising a discount without clearly stating the terms and conditions can be considered false advertising. While 15% isn't a huge amount, it's the principle of transparency that's important. And the AYCE snow crab is definitely a big plus! The staff is always attentive and on top of things, which makes the whole experience even better. Parking is also pretty easy with lots of options around the area, including the carport by Margarita and Walmart. I've been to quite a few hot pot spots, but this one is still my favorite. Great food, good quality, affordable prices, and AYCE snow crab--what more can you ask for? I've done takeout orders before so I had to ask again to just to make sure. guy says "no takeout" then just ends the conversation there, no explanation or anything. I mainly came here because the takeout is convenient and the meat is pre-cooked anyway if you dine in so theres no point. They should announce these things on SNS and remove the takeout options on here and their site.

I've always loved the Plaza, empty and partly abandoned, bec/ the design is conducive to good airflow and cooling, a much underappreciated architectural element in modern downtowns. But the bums and indigent love it more and sadly always leave some je ne sais quoi. Seasons finds itself across from the dim sum behemoth in Chinatown, Legends, but that's a different flavor profile. Still, quite nice to have variety.

I think I've had better dim sum from the frozen section at Hmart. It seems busy at times coz apparently some tour group come here. I hope every business stays in business and they continue to get business from tourists, but not from me unfortunately.

The restaurant was almost half full, occupied by Chinese uncles and aunties chatting. There were only two ladies working; a cashier/phone order taker/takeout packer and one to take orders, serve food, etc. A pot of tea and menus were brought to us as soon as we were seated. The server very enthusiastically tempted us with baked stuff first, from which we only chose the egg/custard tarts. The kid then asked for shrimp dumplings and she rolled the steamer cart around. In total we ordered egg tart, 2x chicken feet, 2x shrimp dumplings, spinach and seafood dumplings, bean curd seaweed rolls, shrimp look funn, and pork and century egg porridge, for just under $60 including tax. We all agreed the custard tarts were good. Flaky and soft crust with a perfect custard (altho the kid and hubs both got liquidy centers). The chicken feet is peppery and umami, unlike most places with steamed peanuts or black beans. More importantly, the skin was tender and silky and collagen-y and not rubbery. The bean curd roll was tasty as well, almost like a steamed spring roll, with I think a mix of seafood and possibly jicama and carrots. The porridge is enough to feed at least five with two bowls per person. The rice is smooth yet had some bite, with a generous amount of ginger slivers, thinly sliced pork, and century egg bits. It then got really busy with takeout orders and people waited quite some time. Attentive enough staff, although our iced waters never came, despite asking twice. Wouldn't mind returning for dim sum.
