Absolute crooks! Did my visual inspection then my smog Failed me for the visual and still charged me!

I called and asked if I needed an appointment and he said no just show up. I showed up within an hour and a half. There was four cars ahead of me which wasn't a problem so I told him I would wait and he said no you could just keep waiting because then I'm gonna go take my lunch and I said OK Max well what time can I come back and he said maybe 145 or two but please know if anybody shows up, I'm gonna take them all ahead of you. He was very very rude and embarrassed me in front of everybody and I'm not sure why I do not recommend this place. I drove 30 minutes to come here. read more

I randomly chose Horizon Smog as I was driving by on my way home. Amin was my service tech. When I walked in there was an irate customer, not Amin's fault, and Amin handled them with respect and civility. So I stayed and Im happy I did. Amin smoked my car, we had a laugh, and the irate customer apologized for their behavior and thanked Amin for his kindness. Smog checks are usually a quick in and out business where there isn't much time to get to know your tech. Im glad I had this opportunity. Thanks Amin for being AMAZING!!! Want great service. BEWARE DONT USE THEM!!! I went there 9/30/25. My car's engine light was not on when I arrived, but when I got the car back, I was told it failed and the light was on. He provided me with an "code." I was told to bring it back to re-smog it when the issue was taken care of... and I would have to pay another $40.00. I left having bad feeling in my stomach, and the entire exchange felt wrong; something was off. Good thing I listened to that feeling because I took it to another vendor, and it passed. They mentioned that it took them a little longer because they saw it had failed elsewhere but the codes used did not apply to my car. They had several technicians look at it, and they all agreed that none of those applied and my car passed without an issue. Too bad I can't add photos or I would add the fail from them, and the pass from the other vendor on the same day. read more

I've been going to the Horizan on Marrysville for aleast the last 6 years 2 cars. took my 1997 Checky Suburband in 2025 and it didnt get the test completed because of a $3 valve and a new battary. Guy told me to drive 100 miles, repalce the valve and bring back to test. For some reason the marrysville location has been closed. They told to go to the one on West El Camino. After getting there I realized the I forgot to put the valve on that was in theback set of the truck. I told the technician I had the peice and I forgot to pit on and he said dont worry about. Then he failed my Smog inspection for the Valve. Complete POS idiot. Had to pay to get a entire new inspection some where else. read more

This last time my car passed the electronic check, but a visual inspection he said I needed a new intake manifold because it was cracked. Honestly the crack looked more like a tiny scratch. Took my Jeep Cherokee in for the bi-annual smog test. I take extermely good care of my vechicle and have never failed a smog test in the 10 years that I have had my Jeep. I guess that's why I was surprised that they failed it. He told me that I had a "leaking PVC Hose" & that I had "Black Smoke" out the exhaust pipe. Asked him to show me the leaking hose, it wasn't even a hose, it was the throttle cable. And as for the blcak smoke, I don't know what car wouldn't blow smoke when you rev the engine the way he did. I knew that he didn't know what he was doing, so I took my jeep to Smog1 in Roseville the very next day and passed with no problems! Never again will I go here!!! read more

I went to get a smog for a 1994 pickup. The attendant did not know what he was doing. He did not do a test. He told me I needed some extensive work first. I took it somewhere else the same day and passed. He was also rude. read more

This place was pretty packed when I went in on 12/31/2018. The entrance to the office is in the back, it's a little confusing. The receptionist was very friendly and before I paid for my smog, before they even ran the smog I showed her a coupon I saw online. (The coupon is attached) and I asked if I was able to use it. She said yes, but when she rang me up she said "oh shoot, i didn't ask about the coupon so I won't be able to apply it" I was like, um okay? Although I said the receptionist was friendly, she was sort of all over the place. Maybe because it was busy? But at one point she was smoking a cigarette right in front of the office. I showed up and had to wait for over 30 minutes before the "tech" even acknowledged that I was sitting in his office. When he finally asked for my DMV paper work he told me it was going to cost $58.20! I asked him why he quoted me so much less on the phone BOTH times I called and he simply acted like he had no idea what I was talking about...
