Located in Westminster near the corner of Goldenwest Street and Westminster Boulevard, their broken rice plates are served in 1, 2, 3, or 4 course variations. Customers have the option to select from the following options: - Shredded Pork and Skin - Steam Egg Cake - Fried Egg Rolls - Fried Chicken - Chinese Sausage - Vietnamese Sausage - Sunny Side Up Egg - Charbroiled Pork Chop - Tofu Skin Shrimp Cake - Charbroiled Pork - Charbroiled Shrimp You can also add Beef Short Rib for an up charge. We ordered: Fish sauce wings - delicious and crispy Broken rice with 3 sides (shredded pork, pork chop, and tofu skin cake) - the flavor on the meat wasn't as strong as we wouldve liked. Also the tofu skin cake was a bit undercooked Wonton noodles soup with char siu and dry wonton soup with char siu and shrimp. - soup was good but one of the wonton pieces was a bit off. Yum! This place is so good and the com tam definitely met my standards. I ordered the 2 item com tam with tau hu ky (bean curd fried shrimp) and nem nuong (Vietnamese grilled pork sausage). Both tasted authentic and just how I had it growing up. The broken rice itself was cooked perfectly. The side soup was tasty and light. My friends got the Thai tea which was perfectly made, good balance of sweet and herbal-y. Price is very fair and reasonable for both the food and drink. We ordered on a tablet and it was fairly easy. I can kind of see older generations potentially having a hard time with it. The service was really great, our server was nice and helpful. The restaurant looked great inside and the restroom was clean/didn't smell bad. The only issue I had with the set up was the snake plants on the tables attracted small flies. They do have fountain but no refill (WTH). This place is know for their broken rice. So I order the 4 meat combo which includes bi (shredded pork), cha (egg), tau hu sky (tofu skin shrimp cake) and nem nuong (grilled sausage) All rice dishes come with fish sauce and small soup. Rice combo presentation is a bit emailer than other typical Vietnamese places but I guess it rewards in taste. However, the rice is not broken. Overall, it's very good and should try it out. The 4 items (steam egg cake, fried egg rolls, charbroiled beef short rib, and charbroiled beef short rib) I got with the com tam had solid flavors and were great quality, and not every com tam place has the beef short rib like they do which is a plus for them. Hu tieu bo kho tasted fresh with flavorful broth and tender beef. Mi kho with char siu, wonton, and shrimp was fine but was nothing memorable - char siu could have used more flavor and I feel like they could do more with the filling in the wonton. Very friendly service. Interior is modern and comfortable. This might not be one of the best com tam in OC but their com tam is still delicious. read more

Hard to miss and I wouldn't worry about parking. FOOD // I ordered the com tam with ba mon (3 sides): lap xuong (Chinese sausage), tau hy ky (tofu skin), and thit nuong (grilled pork). I also got a side of their broth. Everything was so fresh, flavorful, and delicious. It did not feel greasy at all and just tasted really authentic. You order on an iPad and they bring it out. I would absolutely get this dish again and the tau hu ky is a MUST side dish for me. AMBIANCE // I was nervous because it felt so modern and new inside and didn't want to give up that home-like feel/taste to the dish but they really nailed it! The restaurant itself is quite big and the tables are spaced out. Because of the iPads, you technically don't have to talk to the staff if you don't want to but I did see some older couples just order verbally as well. It was maybe 8:45pm on a Thursday and I was craving for some comfort food, but of course most rice spots were either closed already or were about to. Luckily I found this spot. The place was clean. It had a bunch of TVs. Some were playing streaming videos and the main one was playing Vietnamese EDM. I guess it's a thing now. A little noisy for me, but it was an upbeat atmosphere. The menu was well organized. You can pick some preset dishes or customize your own. The server was nice and helpful with the menu. Maybe I don't eat as much as I used to, but it seemed like they gave me a ton of food. I could barely finish it. The food was pretty good. Not the best I've had, but definitely worth coming back again. The rice was cooked just right. The proteins were as expected and good too. The only complaint was about the condiments. I usually like to have the vinegar green chilis with my rice. They had some, but they weren't crispy. Can't do half stars, so 4 stars. Otherwise it was a good meal. Today I picked up an online order where I had carefully added specific notes for every item. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized that several things were wrong. I had clearly requested no bean sprouts and no herbs in my spring rolls -- yet they were still included. I also ordered a beef rice plate, and even paid an extra $3 for the beef -- but they gave me pork instead. When I called to let them know, the response was very unprofessional and disorganized. They didn't seem to know how to handle the situation, and told me to come back to the store. But I live far away, and that's exactly why I ordered online in the first place. They said they could give me a discount next time -- but that's not the point. It's not about the $3. What upset me most was the careless attitude and lack of a sincere apology. They spoke as this was no big deal, and didn't make a customer feeling better instead of anger. I'm writing this review so that others are aware, and hopefully the business will take this as constructive feedback to read customer notes carefully and handle mistakes with more care and professionalism. We visited on an early Sunday morning. The restaurant was bright and very open. It had a very clean feeling and each table had a tablet to order from yourself (or the staff could take your order). The staff was very friendly and our food came out quickly after putting in our orders. Prior to the food arriving, the servers dropped off our drinks, utensils, and condiments. The fish sauce here seems to be mixed with olive oil which was interesting. Didn't love it but didn't dislike it. All of us had variants of the 3 item, broken rice combos. I had the pork, shredded pork, and egg cake. Others at the table had similar combos but some with grilled shrimp, fried chicken and Vietnamese sausage. Everyone seemed satisfied cleaning their plates. As far as Vietnamese flavors go, the food was decent and scratched the itch I had for Vietnamese rice. The only real complaint we had about the restaurant was they they didn't prioritize bussing tables where customers had finished eating. As we left, there were multiple tables that hadn't been cleared. I applaud them for putting the customers present and eating first but part of a restaurant is the ambiance. While it felt clean when we arrived, the many, many uncleared and vacant tables on our way out had the opposite effect. I wanted to try this place because it's the only one that offered a pork-less option and their beef short ribs are perfectly marinated and tender! Tastes fantastic! Their steamed egg cake was also great! A couple things I wasn't a fan of was that the soup was served in odd dishes that aren't functional at all as soup bowls and their nuoc mam lacked the umami quality I prefer. It mainly tasted like sugar water. A few squeezes of lime helped but nuoc mam is a huge aspect of com tam so that was a little disappointing. Staff was friendly and helpful and the restaurant itself seemed clean and space was open so we didn't feel crowded even though we had about 16 people at our table. This is a new restaurant so there are definitely areas of improvement. Love how clean this place is, which is expected for a new establishment. I'm just going to jump right in... plates. For this dish, broken rice, you don't use segregated plates. It's hard to enjoy the mixture of the meal. This was voiced quite a bit at my family table. There was delays with orders, standard water service, and utensil offering. This should have been ironed out during pre opening for a smooth operation. Soup bowl... use regular soup bowl so the staff doesn't spill half of it on their tray, which can burn them also. Safety first. Each of us had half of the soup portion because the waiter took the other half with him on his tray. Steam egg was good but everything else lack consistency. We had five plates to compare so it's quite evident. Overall, could definitely improve if these items are addressed. I would come back but only if updates are made.
