We had such a sad experience here! I really wanted to love this place and maybe we just came on a bad day or had too many people - party of 7. We start with ordering drinks and 2 of us get espresso martinis and we ask then to remake bc they're too strong - i've had plenty and know there's strong but this is like drinking a shot. they send a manager to say this is how theirs taste but can make me a different drink which is totally fine! i order the holiday drink. later two of us order the salmon for lunch and they come out basically raw in the middle. They put in one of our orders wrong so he had to wait an additional 15 minutes for his meal to come out and they got his side incorrect. They remake them and my salmon looks like a completely different piece of meat. Then an espresso martini later gets dropped accidentally at our table (the staff tried to drop it here twice before we let them just leave it) which looks much better than the one I had earlier in the night so we try it and it taste 100% better than the one I had before, we had another colleagues Mocktail not get dropped off until lunch came around. they did end up taking off one of the salmon from our tab, but left the other on there. Staff was definitely lacking on water, silverware, plates overall just not a great experience. read more

We stopped at the Hudson House on our way home after a weekend in DFW. Started off with an appetizer of shrimp cocktail--the shrimp were huge! The tartar sauce was tangy & delicious. Decided to try a .5oz of caviar...not my taste but my other half enjoyed it! I ordered off the brunch menu and got the French Toast. It was absolutely scrumptious! Also ordered a side of bacon for $4. My boyfriend got the French Chicken from the regular menu and thought it was fantastic. Our waiter was fantastic, also. Shame on me for not taking pictures of our full appetizers & entree! However, we shared the shrimp cocktail and calamari for our appetizers. For our meal - we shared the shrimp scampi, and we loveeeddd it! It was amazing. Unfortunately, when I got there, they were booked (reservations only) until 8PM, so we had to suffice with the open bar top. Chelsea was our waitress, she was amazing and very attentive! Had a stone fruit martini I believe i.e. fruity drink concoction - which I loved! Started with chowder, truffle fries and oysters and they were all phenomenal! Went here on a Friday & it was crazy packed & you need a reservation so they can keep track of the required limit of people. The have a great Happy hour! 3-6 everyday, 1/2 off martinis, belinis, oysters & cheeseburgers. I got a reservation & went back the following week because it was so good! The Mortini (martini w/truffle infused vodka) is the best! Also this time we got the cheeseburger, oysters & the tuna tower. Everything was so good. Loved it! Great happy hour with half price martinis, burgers and oysters. Tried the blue and gold martini and it was perfection. Also tried the avocado dip, so much flavor! My experience is based off their happy hour only. They are known for their martinis but I opted for a glass of rose. They have martinis and oysters for happy hour deals. I love Hudson House for their burger and their happy hour. I recommend reservations in general, but especially for happy hour (which goes to 6 p.m. on weekdays). Otherwise it's a fun spot, but those are definitely the highlights. I should caveat that I'm not an oyster person, which is a big draw for most people. - Atmosphere: Hudson House has a fun vibe, with a long bar and mostly booth seating in the rest of the restaurant. I especially recommend visiting during Christmas time as they do a great job with seasonal, but classy decorations. - Food/Drink: I think Hudson House has one of the best burgers in Dallas, so I HIGHLY recommend ordering it. Since I tried it, I haven't been able to order anything else, but the salads always look amazing (and are huge) and I've heard great things about the honey grilled chicken sandwich. The burger does not come with fries, so I recommend adding on the skinny fries or the truffle parm fries. Hudson House has lots of great starters to share, like the avocado dip and the popcorn chicken. I need to try the shrimp dynamite as it always sounds delicious! Hudson House is popular for brunch, but I prefer going for a later brunch so I can order the burger. During happy hour, the martinis and bellinis are half price, so I usually stick to those drinks. Although I'm not a martini lover, they have plenty of fun martinis to choose from in addition to the classics. A few of my favorites are the the lemon drop, the cabo, and the cucumber. If I want something a little stronger, the frozen bellini is great, but the gran marnier floater adds a significant punch so be ready. - Value: Hudson House is on the pricier side, which is what makes happy hour such a good deal! The burger is $10, oysters are $2 each, and martinis and bellinis are $6-$7 depending on what you order. read more

Do NOT expect to dine here unless you can do it in under 1-1/2 hrs. I went recently and after ordering appetizers, wine and entree we were told at 1-1/2 hrs that we needed to leave. This was at 4:30 in the afternoon and there was no line and at least 5 tables open in my view. I have heard others having the same experience - apparently a "corporate policy" we were told. I recently moved to Dallas and had family fly into town to visit. I had heard great things about this restaurant and was excited to bring my family here for dinner. When I ordered the lobster roll, I was told that I wouldn't be able to get the lobster roll because of its limited availability. The way in which it was described to me and my family was that the lobster rolls is available, however because of the high cost of lobster, the restaurant chooses when to make it available. It was described in way that felt prejudice & discriminatory. To allow workers to pick and choose who they wish to make the lobster roll available, didn't sit well with me so we left the restaurant. It left a bad taste in everyone at the table and gave off the impression that our money wasn't good enough. The entire experience left me in wanting to spend a single dollar in this restaurant. If you look at the menu, the lobster roll is the only item that even sounds appealing on the menu. Future recommendations: 1. If the cost of a menu item is putting a strain on your restaurants ability to properly function & provide exceptional customer service remove it from the menu. It's Dallas, we all know the food in this city isn't worth you losing customers and bad reviews over. 2. Train your staff to deliver information to customers that doesn't offend and paint the entire restaurant as a prejudiced establishment. I'm noticing from my short time in Dallas, these restaurant owners spend more time on decor than the quality of the food & training their staff. 3. Grow the menu. Won't be returning. 1/10 and the 1 is only in case starvation is in the parking lot with your death certificate in hand. read more
