Rustic and hearty food served with warm and friendly hospitality, Humblebee is my kind of place. I think they understand their customers are mostly locals and are regulars too. I was treated like an old friend even though it was my first time. The Benny (eggs Benedict) was terrific. Hollandaise sauce was rich with tons of BUTTER and fresh egg yolk laden with the cholesterol you love to hate. The fresh ground turkey sausage and home made muffin bathed in the sauce were delicious. The longer you let it sit in that golden goodness, the better it tasted! Skip the coffee and get a cafe mocha or a latte - much bolder flavor. Pancakes are also a good option. They are uneven sized and not perfectly round - in other words home made from scratch. The batter tasted whole grain and hearty. I had one and was done. Parking is not so good. Located on the border on Northridge and Van Nuys, this little organic restaurant was a great find. There is limited parking in the lot, however I found parking on the street. It was a lot easier. I love that you can order breakfast until 3:30pm! I was given two menus and there was so much to choose from. I love breakfast so I had it twice. I went with the breakfast quesadilla with my eggs over easy. I wasn't disappointed at all. I paired this with a lavender lemonade. Very refreshing! My team and I came her post escape room as part as our team building event. The restaurant is small, so our party had to sit at two tables. Not bad for a party of 17. This is the tale of our run in with an awesome new brunch spot. The bf and I had realized that we kept going to the same spots for brunch on the weekends... and so, in search of something new and close by, we stumbled upon the Humble Bee. Now... it's a rather unusual spot to find in the middle of Northridge, amongst blocks and blocks of fast food - but there it was: a tiny little storefront on a busy street that you'd almost always miss unless you're actively looking for it. At 1pm it was still insanely crowded - it seats maaaaaaybe 28 people? And that's with the entire long table in the middle of the restaurant filled up including the bar at the window. So the place is itty bitty. We waited for maybe 15 minutes to get a seat, and regrettably ended up with the long share table in the middle. Ah well... we were starving and at that point stopped caring if we ended up having to sit with a ton of strangers. We ordered the following: Coffee, Latte, Iced Tea, Eggs Benedict with Canadian Bacon, French Toast with Strawberries and Cream. Everything. Was. Delicious. We probably inhaled the entire meal in less than 10 minutes. Seriously. We left the place with a little dab of hollandaise on our nose and remnants of strawberry compote and/or cream on our cheeks. Yelp pointed me to this adorable breakfast spot. It's a strange place to open a cafe next to a liquor, but once you're inside, the atmosphere is really different. It's a small cafe with wooden tables and fresh flowers in mason jars that serves breakfast and lunch. They also have baked goods. The menu is small so you're limited to only a few breakfast choices. We had the English Butty and the Panwich. The English Butty was somewhat like an eggs benedict without the hollandaise sauce made with turkey sausage. The Panwich was sweet with the pancake and savory with the eggs and sausage. The portion wasn't too small; it was just the right amount for breakfast. Food is organic n tasty so all good there but if u have dietary restrictions then it can be a bit troublesome. I'm pretty flex about my food reqs so I overall had a 4-5 star experience. However, we had asked to verify that one of the omelette orders didn't have onions and they confirmed. It came out and had green onions sprinkled everywhere n white onions in the pico. They readily took it back and apologized. No biggie since it was an honest mistake w no repercussions. Next one came out looking all innocent w it's clean, pillowy top. Unknowingly, he took a forkful of it and chowed down, not knowing a sly lil piece had snuck itself into the omelet. He threw up. I watched. It was a lil horrifying. Sent it back again and did not want a replacement. They took the plate away but then brought it back to us to "show" us that it didn't have onions. They shoulda dug around in the bits of chewed up regurgitation on the plate. However, they made another attempt at reconciling by bringing out a scramble version of the order so we could see everything in the dish. All good this time. They didn't charge us for the mucked up order but we'd rather pay then get someone sick. I'd love to be back but def not worth it if you have food sensitivities. Cute little breakfast nook that has extra "special" dishes on the weekend. Prepare for an hour wait on Saturday and Sunday but you can check in here on Yelp before you come. Otherwise, weekdays are easy to just walk in and order. I get the Basic Bee-rito and love it. Tastes homemade but better. Perfect for big groups because they have the space and tables to accommodate. My boyfriend and I came here on Valentine's Day, the first semi-open holiday since Covid began so of course this place is crazy busy! The inside is so sweet and as the name suggests very humble. They have a table where they sell fresh organic produce, home made pastries and the coolest hand poured candles. The food was incredible! Easily the best French toast I've ever had and the wait was more than reasonable considering how many people were here. On top of all this the staff was very helpful and personable. Came here on a Sunday and it was packed! So glad I used the waitlist from Yelp or we would've waited close to an hour. The staff were very catering. Someone helped us out the moment we walked in. It was a bit confusing because there was a table by the door to add your name on the wait-list and the cashier table is found on the other side where they check people in. Both sides have doors, so people were coming in from both directions. There is a bigger parking in the back, but my dad was not able to access it. Luckily he found a spot right in front of the restaurant. The menu seems to change pretty frequently. Noticed that the menu I was holding was only valid for two days. Felt lucky to have tried things offered only for those two days. I can't imagine the variety they offer! Food was pretty good. I tried all the dishes we ordered and my favorite would have been the biscuits and gravy. It came with two biscuits, over medium eggs, and of course, the gravy. It was very tasty and I knew that I would've finished it as fast as my dad did. I also enjoyed their spaghetti squash with mushroom "meatballs". I really liked the meatballs, though it fell apart the moment I stuck my fork in it. It definitely gave the dish texture compared to the soft "pasta". The dish was also served in pesto sauce, my favorite. If it was lunch time, I would definitely be down for this meal. I ordered their French toast. I actually never figured out what I was eating, but I enjoyed it. It came with what I think is fruit, but had a sweet potato, starchy, texture. It was interesting and definitely something new on my French toast. What elevated the dish for us was the syrup. That syrup was so good that my sister and I joked about downing it (gross, I know. We didn't, okay?) but it was so good. My least favorite was the lox and bagel. The texture was too tough for me and the taste is not quite hitting the spot. Overall a good find! After looking for brunch places in the valley on Yelp, my friend and I decided to go here. The reviews on Yelp were good and the food in the pictures looked delicious. My friend and I arrived on a Sunday a little after 10am, before the place got busy. My friend ordered a cup of Hot Chocolate and enjoyed it, but a huge amount of chocolate pieces slowly settled out of the drink during our meal (I don't know if this is normal or not, since I normally just drink instant hot chocolate and finish it pretty fast). She ended up having to ask for a small cup of hot water to add into the drink to remelt the chocolate. As for food, she ordered the Short Stack w/ Berries, which came with 2 medium sized pancakes and fresh, sweet strawberries and blueberries. I was expecting a small cafe like this to brew delicious coffee, but it ended up being a disappointment. The coffee wasn't strong at all--I didn't have to add any sugar or milk/cream to balance it out. I got a couple refills and every cup tasted weak. I liked my Eggs Benedict w/ Turkey Sausage, but thought certain components were bland. The Hollandaise sauce was lacking a rich flavor and the turkey sausage was dry. It's possible this was their way of making the dish healthier; if this is the case, then I wouldn't mind the blandness as much. The eggs were perfeclty cooked--the creamy yolk that oozed out when I broke the egg helped add more flavor and texture to the dish. I liked the side of potatoes, which were crispy and well-seasoned. The staff was friendly enough and checked on us once in awhile, but service was slow. It took awhile for us to get our food (before it got busy), and it also took awhile to get our check. Parking in the area is pretty easy. There were 3 empty spots in the small parking lot when we arrived. Unfortunately, I couldn't park in any of them because people who go to this little plaza apparently don't know how to park between the lines. There was plenty of street parking though, so it wasn't that big a deal. Humble Bee is a small, cute cafe with a small but good menu selection. Although the food's not at the top of my list, I wouldn't mind coming back again if I'm in the area. The prices are decent (but definitely more than $, which is the price range currently indicated on the Yelp page) and the food isn't as heavy as the food at other brunch places. HB! What a nice little unexpected surprise you turned out to be! This cute little restaurant has been in this sketchy part of town in this sketchy tiny strip mall for 6 years now. But alas! Don't judge a book by its cover. We had my birthday brunch here and although I was a little (ok A LOT) skeptical, it did NOT disappoint. They take reservations unlike most of the trendy brunch places in town and their food was actually very fresh and very tasty! Their pastries were soooo yummy! I especially loved the chocolate croissants. Yes, their menu is very limited, but I had the Eggs Benedict w/ turkey sausage and it wasn't the best I've had but it was still very good. The potatoes were delicious though! I had a bit of the buttermilk pancake with fresh berries and it was very healthy and good. The coffee is organic and tasty too. The service was great as well. I've been to Humble Bee twice in the span of two years. This is a place with a nice relaxing country atmosphere, and during both visits, the service has been great, the pastries delicious, and the food not so tasty. First time 2 years ago, I went with my family. It was a party of 10. Everyone made the comment that food in general was not memorable. About 3 weeks ago, a friend suggested this place for breakfast, and I decided to give it a second chance. Our server and the service in general were top notch. I don't recall the name of the eggs I ordered. It was poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce over an English muffin and potatoes on the side. The eggs were poached to perfection; however, the sauce had no depth, the english muffins were doughy, and the potatoes were very dry. I just took two bites and decided not to eat it. I mentioned this to my friend who agreed that her dish was not very interesting as well, and she still ate it. When our server came to check on us, I told her she could remove my plate and politely gave her the reason why I barely touched my plate, telling her it was just a comment for feedback and not a complaint. At the end of the meal, I was surprised to hear that the charge for my eggs was removed. I reiterated that my comment was not a complaint, and that I wanted to pay for the dish. She said that the owner was there and had taken the charge off the bill. I really appreciated the gesture knowing that all well-intended feedback is used for improvement, which I know it's a fact because of the intense traffic of patrons during the 2-plus hours my friend and I were visiting there. I heard this place is doing great, and I plan to give them a third chance in the near future as I want all businesses around me to succeed reflecting a buoyant economy for all of us. I almost forgot to highly recommend the absolutely delicious Coop's original Hot Fudge and the Salted Caramel sauces that come in the glass jars. You will find them by the counter. read more

if you want to get ignored and spend over an hour waiting for your food this is the place to go! the parking lot sucks and can fit like 6 cars max while having other businesses next door. It took an hour for me and my friend to get our food and our server never brought one lavender lemonade and charged us for 2! It took him 20 minutes to bring us our bill (he didn't even bring it to us the only other server there gave it to us) and then another 20 minutes to get the changed bill with the lemonades taken off. 3 separate parties all came in after us, got their food before us, and left before us. Ridiculous. Save your money and time and go somewhere else. read more

Yes, this diner serves food from places in Silverlake. Organic this, organic that. In fact, I just looked at their weekend menu--it states Organic Brunch Menu. Anyway, I liked the aforementioned Salmon Toast and everything that came with it--except the salad. The salad was so, so. I also liked the Freshly-Squeezed OJ that I ordered (and yes, it was organic). Next time, I will try the Blueberry Pancakes. My niece said it was delicious and there were actual blueberries underneath the stacked pancakes. I've been to Humble Bee for both breakfast & lunch. They serve breakfast until 3:30 and have a variety of menu items which include their breakfast house favorites, breakfast sandwiches, omelettes, and sweets. However, they serve their lunch menu from 11-9pm daily and their menu consists of their infamous specialty pizzas, calzone, sandwiches, and salads! On top of that, they have a drink menu with coffee (organic drip coffee, espresso, latte/cappuccino), chai tea latte, hot chocolate, tea, refreshments (fresh squeezed organic juice), and their specialty juices!! I've tried the Panwich AKA a Pancake Sandwich which comes with two easy eggs, a couple turkey sandwiches with maple mascarpone and julienned apples. I've also had their breakfast quesadilla which comes with house-made tortilla with a couple easy eggs, salsa, sour cream, and pickled cabbage on top of black beans with jack & cheddar cheese! Both delicious and I didn't feel bad eating them at all! Another favorite of mine is their tuna melt which comes with a whole wheat bread with tuna salad of onion, celery, dill, lemon, and aioli with cheddar cheese. I definitely recommend if you are a fan of tuna~ Their specialty juices are also pretty good. My favorite is their basic bee which comes with carrot, apple, orange, lemon, ginger, strawberry and celery! There are also other juices such as their Dr. Feelgood, Purple Heart, Virgin Mary, and Green Flash which I recommend to try out! A wonderful find in Van Nuys/Lake Balboa area. It's a breath of organic fresh air and food to an area that is saturated with fast food chains. The food is fresh and delicious and everything feels homemade.
