This location has a very nice ambiance showing the thoughtfulness that went into remaking the space. The food was tasty, as might be expected from The Henry. The "butter cake" dessert was, too, but was far from the real deal I would get at Needle Rock in Trilogy or Preston's Steakhouse before losing their lease. This one was more akin to an angel food cake. So why three stars? In short, our table was neglected during the entire dining experience. Without naming the server, she DID apologize at the end of the meal; at that mid-afternoon hour, the place wasn't even busy. But several servers, at one point five, had time to stand in a group and chit chat when they should have been attending to their tables. Being within earshot, I can say the conversations were not work-related. When our server made it to our table, I mentioned that I thought perhaps her shift had ended. My favorite dish is the "Bolognese," which is served over pasta with Truffle Mushroom Butter & Herbed Ricotta (topped with the Bolognese meat sauce & garlic bread). Since I absolutely love creamy pasta dishes, I love the pasta underneath the meat sauce the most. The creamy, cheesy, slightly buttery sauce had just the right hint of truffle without overpowering the dish. Here's my recommendation: **Don't mix everything together!** Enjoy the creamy truffle pasta first, then finish with the meaty Bolognese and garlic toast. It was like getting two completely different meals in one, and both were delicious. The garlic toast was delicious and the perfect accompaniment to the hearty meat sauce. My friend ordered the "Scottish Salmon" over farro risotto. The salmon was a beautiful fillet cooked perfectly over a generous portion of creamy risotto. My husband chose the "Rigatoni alla Vodka." If you're expecting the mild, creamy vodka sauce that many restaurants serve, be aware that The Henry's version has a noticeable kick--perfect if you enjoy some heat, but spicier than a traditional vodka sauce. But you have to order a side of the Umami Brussels Sprouts! They are super crispy on the outside, tender inside, lightly glazed (not soaking with balsamic vinegar like some restaurants') , and finished with freshly grated Parmesan. They are absolutely addictive! **One more tip: If it's your first visit, join The Henry's free "eBites" program on their website. Had a rsvp and arrived a bit early, still waited 20mns past our rsvp time to get seated. So definitely come with a reservation or you'll be waiting over 1hr. Limited entryway so we were very crowded in there while waiting too. We placed our food order and there were some missed items but our waitress was very kind and fixed the errors right away. The food was good but we did have a decent wait given they are very busy. We had a few items to try: the ricotta dip was very strong in flavor a bit garlicky if you like that & came with lavash chips. Short rib potstickers were very flavorful! I had the eggs Benedict with regular bacon instead of Canadian and they were able to accommodate which was nice! The crispy tuna rice was amazing. It had a very fresh flavor to it. A bit of a hit and a miss. The Henry had been on my list to visit for quite some time. The original restaurant is one of the most popular spots in town. And this is their newest location in North Scottsdale. I stopped by on a Wednesday evening for dinner. We had a reservation at 7:30. Parking wasn't a problem in the large, complimentary lot they have. Ambiance (3/5): The Henry is a good looking restaurant. Once you walk in, there's a spacious bar area with both seats at the bar and high tops. In the middle, there's a charming patio. We were there in July, so it was a no-go, despite the misters, but I'm sure it's clutch during the cooler months. In the back is the sit-down area. Which is where we were seated. The fatal flaw? The acoustics make it quite loud. To the point where you have to yell a bit to converse with your dining partner and the waitress. Never fun. Service (2/5): This is where there was a lot left to be desired. Even though we had reservations for 7:30, we waited 10-15 minutes to be seated. The explanation? Prior diners were lingering. Sounds like a logistical problem. When you have a reservation, you expect to be seated promptly. Our waitress, while friendly, made a series of errors too. I ordered the chicken frites, and after placing my order, after a few minutes she told me they were sold out of the dish. Something to mention before perusing the menu? She also told me the dish is quite good which I didn't want to hear as it was like pouring salt into the wound. When I received my bill, she had added a $4 surcharge for truffle fries though I never ordered the truffle fries. I had regular fries. At an upscale restaurant, you expect better. Drinks (4/5): The Henry has a nice list of cocktails. Plus a full bar. I wasn't in the mood for alcohol and went with an Arnold Palmer instead. When I was on empty, my beverage was refilled without be asking. A nice touch. Food (3.5/5): We started off by sharing their "famous" pretzels and fondue cheese. Probably the highlight of the night. While I bit pricey for an appetizer, the portion size was generous. You get large pretzel balls to dip into the cheesy goodness. The soft pretzels could have been a little more buttery, but outside of that, I can tell why they are so popular. For my main dish, my plan B was the waygu cheeseburger with fries. I asked for my burger without onions. Sure enough, my burger came with onions. Another service snafu I forgot to mention earlier. Solid burger, reminded me of a good grilled burger you'd get at a barbecue. Not sure the waygu changed anything for me. Above average nut not spectacular. To round things out, the we had the butter molten cake, their most popular dessert. The caramel sauce is poured on the cake and vanilla bean gelato table side. While it's a big dessert, it's a fluffy one so not as filling as originally thought. The gelato was excellent. The cake? Not my favorite. Though my dining partner did enjoy it. Fox Restaurant Concepts has some excellent restaurants in Phoenix. I'm a big fan of Fly Bye, Culinary Dropout, and Flower Child. I like Arrogant Butcher too. The Henry? I like this location. Easy parking with ample spaces. We ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer which we've ordered before. It was slightly undercooked. Our waitress took it back and was apologetic. One of the managers redelivered a new one with another apology. Very nice. Our service experience was very positive. Both entrees were very good. Squash and sprout salad with grilled chicken and egg and meat burrito bowl with salad instead of potatoes. Very good for both dishes. Then to top it off, we got the butter cake with warm caramel sauce topped with gelato. Couldn't finish it. Barely got a couple bites of it but it packed up well and was still delicious the next day. Finally made it to the new Henry location in North Scottsdale, and we were especially excited since it's much closer to home. We chose it as the perfect spot to celebrate two friends' birthdays. We had a reservation for 7:45 p.m. but an our day got done early so we actually arrived around 7:00 p.m. Unfortunately, our experience didn't get off to the best start. The hostess who checked us in wasn't particularly welcoming and told us our table would not be available any earlier. She suggested we grab a drink at the bar but said we couldn't sit in the coffee bar area. This seemed a bit odd since there were guests enjoying cocktails and appetizers there, and several tables appeared to be open. After standing around chatting for about 10-15 minutes, we asked another hostess if we could sit in the coffee bar area while we waited. She immediately told us yes, which left us confused about the mixed messages. Once seated, a server came over to take our drink order. Unfortunately, she was also rather abrupt. She made a point of telling us we would need to close out our tab before moving to our dinner table, which we assumed was standard practice anyway. She even brought the check right after taking our order--before our drinks had even arrived. She actually seemed annoyed to be waiting on us. Between the hostess and this server, our fun birthday celebration wasn't off to the start we had hoped for. Thankfully, the drinks quickly turned things around. I ordered the Grapefruit Spritz, one friend enjoyed a Skinny Margarita (bonus - all of their margaritas are skinny,) and another had a glass of wine. My spritz was great and refreshing. Our table was ready at our reservation time. The evening truly changed once we met our dinner server, Nadi. She was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and full of positive energy. She took wonderful care of our table throughout the meal. We started with several appetizers: the Spicy Tuna & Crispy Rice, Artichoke & Ricotta Dip, Short Rib Potstickers, and the restaurant's famous Pretzels & Provolone Fondue. Every single dish was delicious. It's easy to see why the Pretzels & Provolone Fondue is such a fan favorite--it was absolutely amazing. The Artichoke & Ricotta Dip is a newer addition to the menu and is served chilled with everything lavash crackers. It was really good. By the time dinner arrived, we were already pretty full from the appetizers, so we decided to share two entrées, the Korean Prime Skirt Steak and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. Both dishes were flavorful and enjoyed by everyone at the table. Since we were celebrating birthdays, dessert was a must. We ordered the Molten Butter Cake and the Warm Croissant Bread Pudding to share. The Molten Butter Cake, served with warm caramel and vanilla gelato, completely stole the show. It was light, fluffy, and absolutely incredible. I'm still dreaming about it days later! The Warm Croissant Bread Pudding was also excellent, featuring toasted pecans, apples, raisins, and caramel ice cream. While both desserts were fantastic, the Molten Butter Cake was the star! Despite the rocky start, we ended up having a wonderful evening. Nadi's exceptional service, the beautiful atmosphere, and the outstanding food more than made up for the initial frustrations. The Henry new location in Mayo Blvd is fantastic. No longer will I have to make the drive south to the other location. Across the road from Whole Foods is so convenient to me in North Scottsdale. I've always enjoyed The Henry for its reliable tasty food choices but this new location surpasses the Camelback location. Huge parking lot for easy parking, bright wide open spacious dining area. Nice bar area with bar seating that opens to the beautiful huge courtyard. Large screen tv, high top tables and other relaxed seating near the entrance is comfortable. Large banquet booths and 4 seat tables that are generous and not cramped like some restaurants. Glass window walked in kitchen where you can view the chefs but not feel like the kitchen in encroaching on the dining area. The huge enclosed courtyard with lush vegetation screens and provides privacy. Very open courtyard with fans and open to the bar area is pleasant and doesn't feel like it is in basically a large parking area but rather a large garden space. The food is always reliable and the large menu and sushi menu means that there are choices for everyone. Our waiter was very genuinely friendly attentive and not fake. My one critique is that the hostesses are very young, and perhaps younger waitstaff are placed there due to being under age for serving alcohol . But it just feels wrong to be seated by such young female hostesses and sets the wrong tone. I can't wait to go back again. This time the Cinnamon French Toast was out and I really want to try it. I do wish The Henry had gluten-free bread. Certainly happy to have this new location and will go again.! read more

We went back to the Henry for dinner. Short rib dumplings and the bolognese were great. I do think the bolognese would be better with a different type of pasta. We also got the butter cake and it was good. The pretzel toffee didn't really add anything to the dessert in our opinion. When you walk into the restaurant it is quite loud, but we sat in the back and it was much better because of the higher ceiling. Service was ok. From the moment we sat down it took almost 10 minutes for our server to greet us. He was great after that. Forgot to mention the old fashioned was good as was the espresso martini we ordered. I must admit, I waited a long time to write this review but the photos are still in my camera roll so here goes. We went on the Tuesday after Mother's Day. It was so loud in the bar area at high top tables near the hostess. Not really the best suited spot for our intimate giggly group of three girlfriends out for a weeknight 4pm happy hour. But the Henry is so popular we had to try it. Service was pretty excellent with timely interventions on waning drink volumes. Water included, we were well hydrated. The first round was white sangria, light and summery but not ultimately my favorite. This white sangria had a big chunk of fresh watermelon and a strong passion fruit flavor. It was pretty empty when I fished out the fruit, there was a lot of ice and the drink portion was not large. We started with an order of happy hour guacamole and chips, a solid bowl of clearly fresh avocado mash with excellent crispy tortilla chips. We ate all of it even at the expense of sushi. I especially like the pepitas on top, chili lime if I recall. Solid. We ordered two California rolls because we knew with the real crab the three of us could polish them off. They were really superb. But we also ordered brussel sprouts and the girls who eat full gluten had some short rib pot stickers they raved about. Brussel sprouts were truly an umami bomb, with salty sweet soy combined with Parmesan cheese, a combination that shouldn't work but absolutely does. But I think I retained a lot of water from the sodium, but I could not stop eating the small leaves! Somewhere along the way we ordered another round of drinks, Palomas this time. Although appropriately fizzy and grapefruity, I did not notice a lot of tequila. The drinks are definitely singles. We got very full! I'm truly sad, but we left behind some brussel sprouts and had trouble eating the final piece of the Cali. Happy hour summary: the quality and variety of food and the portions are all truly excellent. The $10 happy hour cocktails also offer a nice variety if not high value, they are all well prepared. Servers are well trained and attentive, with good knowledge of the menu ingredients and suggestions for accommodating food sensitivities. With tip I spent $50 which felt like a lot. But, I still want to go back and try the Artichoke & Ricotta Dip add some more cocktails. Perhaps in another section of the bar where it isn't so loud? read more

Let me just start off by saying that everything was phenomenal from start to finish. Reservation check-in at the front was seamless and organized, even with the various groups of people milling about waiting to be seated. Our server was also great, very warm, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant overall has modern decor that instantly makes you feel comfortable. Depending on where your table is located, it can get loud. However, the spot we were located felt intimate in a high energy setting. After looking over the menu, we decided to start off the with California roll to share. These were standard. For our main entrees, we ordered the Korean prime skirt steak and the Scottish salmon. The skirt steak was cooked to medium rare perfection. It was tender, and the dish overall was chock full of flavor. The Scottish salmon was prepared nicely, not dry at all, but some bites were a bit salty. Since we always have room for dessert, we decided to share a molten butter cake. This was highly enjoyable. We're already looking forward to our next visit so we can try the warm croissant bread pudding. Came in today with a reservation for 9:30. We were asked to sit in the courtyard area. It was a bit warm outside but they did have plenty of fans going and it was a bit noisy inside to it was nicer to be outside a little quieter even though it was a bit on the warm side. Our waiter was nice and attentive. For drinks we had a guava mimosa follows up by the espresso martini. Usually I would say the best place for espresso martinis would be Elephante in fashion square; but the aroma and taste here is definitely notable! The Parmesan truffle fries were great along with the our mains, the quiche and scramble. This is the third location we've been too and it is definitely a great location and spot! We had a stellar visit to The Henry yesterday. It was so good that we briefly considered coming back for an encore visit today. We were able to score a reservation without much fuss. Though we showed up for said reservation a few minutes late, we were seated quickly and greeted by our fabulous server Nicole. As we were walked to our table, we were taking in the beautiful scenery of the restaurant. There is not a trace of whatever restaurant was here before The Henry. We started our meal with a salted caramel danish roll. It was perhaps too good. For my meal, I had the huevos rancheros enchiladas. The enchiladas were delicious, though I did feel that the portion was a bit small. Regardless, they were packed with flavor and came out piping hot. I've never been to the Phoenix locations of The Henry, and I saw that this Scottsdale one recently opened. My friend and I met here one afternoon and wanted to try their happy hour menu. There was about a 5 minute wait for a table to be available since we wanted to sit in the lounge for HH service. We were greeted warmly by our server and got started with waters and a drink for my friend. We got a few dishes: the short rib potstickers (toasted sesame, cilantro, ponzu), umami brussels sprouts (parmesan, sweet soy), and Parmesan truffle fries (truffle aioli and ketchup for dips). The potstickers were delicious; I loved the sauce they came in. I also enjoyed the fries: light and crispy with a nice touch of Parmesan cheese on top. The brussels sprouts were not for me; I usually love them but they were too oily and browned. My friend enjoyed them so that was good. The ambiance of this restaurant is nice: there's a patio section in the middle and appears spacious. I found parking easily and they have free valet for those who like that. This place seems to be on the pricier side for their regular menu but I'm glad we visited during HH and got to try it out! read more

I've been to other locations but this location just opened in North Scottsdale! We made a reservation for 11:45am however showed up a little early and they were still able to seat us within 10 minutes of arrival which was so nice! We grabbed a coffee from the coffee bar, which is right by the entrance while we waited. I loved this touch because it didn't feel like we were waiting since we were able to grab a coffee! The server stated their menu is different than other locations! I was surprised to see sushi especially since I always thought The Henry was a classic brunch/ dinner spot. This was our first time visiting The Henry on Mayo, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially on a Friday night, because it gets busy. We sat on the patio, and Katelyn was our server. She was absolutely incredible; friendly, attentive, and on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed. She really made the experience even better. We started with the Spicy Margarita, Spicy Tuna & Crispy Rice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For dinner, we ordered the Henry house salad and the Wagyu cheeseburger. The house salad was honestly one of the freshest salads I've had in a long time and was packed with flavor. The cheeseburger was really good, but if you're deciding between entrées, I still think the Braised Short Rib is the standout dish. As expected from a Fox Restaurant Concepts restaurant, the ambiance, food, and service were all top-notch. One thing that's also worth mentioning is that this location has a sushi menu, which gives you even more great options. Go enjoy it all, but do yourself a favor and ask for Katelyn. The second visit was in the covered outdoor courtyard, near the bar. Again, super busy, so prepare to be patient. The Henry has a mid-upscale vibe. Most guests are well dressed for their Happy Hour or dining event. (Rare sighting of the hilarious backward-baseball-cap-while-dining-type). Our bartender on the first visit, Ryell, was pleasant and on his game. Our server on the second visit, Nikki, also provided great service w a personal touch. Make reservations, it's the new happening restaurant in Scottsdale. Food is delicious and we will be back to try more dishes. I ordered the wagyu cheeseburger (it's huge!) and the coleslaw has sliced apple and kale, much more elevated than typical coleslaw. The California rolls were mid, but I wasn't expecting much (my children ordered them). They do have a kids menu with good options. The club sandwich got great reviews at my table as well. The service does seem to have some growing pains but was good and our server was very sweet. The food, the guac was delicious as were the truffle fries! Our friends had the burger and commented on how delicious they were despite being more of a messy choice! I had the seared tuna salad which was a heart salad with my ingredients, it was fresh and a light option! My partner had the salmon and really enjoyed that as well! The wait never is fun, we usually hang out in the foyer area by the front door with everyone else. They don't serve food in the bar area where the tables are and that's not a good idea, because people could be eating there instead of standing around, over heating, - as for the food, it's pretty good. I like the Brunch menu better. Their turkey dip sandwich is really good. Their hamburger is really good. The desserts are exactly like Doughbirds so I don't get any dessert there because we eat at Doughbird's all the time (children, lol). read more

My wife and I have been here four times now, and every experience has been excellent. The food and service have been outstanding each time. On our most recent visit, we had a party of eight, and they were able to accommodate us without any issues. I spoke with Justin by phone ahead of the reservation, and when we arrived, he greeted me by name. The food was excellent as usual, and they even surprised us by taking care of my wife's meal for the occasion we were celebrating. That kind of customer service really stands out. The Henry has opened in North Scottsdale. It's a cute location, much bigger than it looks from the outside. Cute patio that falls in the center of the location (note: no HH on the patio). Happy Hour menu you is good, must be in the bar or lounge. Pretzels and Fondue are the same as Culinary Dropout (owned by same restaurant group) but the cheese was cold. The Henry is always good, and the new location stays true to that! The restaurant itself is beautiful on the inside, and it looks like they have a nice outdoor area for when it cools down. Our server was new, but very friendly and attentive. The food was good, per usual. You can't go wrong with the Parmesan truffle fries. The Brussels were crunchy and delicious. The smoked salmon bagel had good flavor. The bagel was very soft and light. And the spritzes are delicious. Great brunch spot! read more

I have been to all other The Henry locations in the valley but this was my first time at this one, and it might just be my favorite! Our waitress, Rachel, was so friendly and attentive. The seared tuna chop salad is a classic and extremely delicious. The jumbo lump crab cake has generous portions of crab (you'd hope so for $31!). The Go North espresso is creamy and flavorful, but I had to ask for extra ice as it came not as cold as I'd like it. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and was very busy on an early Friday afternoon. They accept ApplePay for those that may have forgotten their credit cards, and they have complimentary valet and a dog friendly patio. I went to the grand opening of the Central and Camelback location and absolutely hated the food and service, so I'm glad to see this location perform much better on all fronts. read more

I want to start by saying this restaurant is beautiful! Great ambiance! That aside, with this restaurant being new they still have a lot of work to do to figure things out. The food was okay. We ordered the chicken tortilla soup .... It was full of soggy tortilla strips. We ordered the Roasted chicken and avocado salad... the bleu cheese was atrocious (may have been expired?) with very little dressing. The roasted turkey French dip sandwich was okay, nothing I'd go back for. We ordered ranch and were told the kitchen ran out of ranch (on a Sunday service... why would they not prep this lol?), then for 30 minutes heard from at least 3 different people that they were making ranch. We never got any ranch. It took at least an hour for us to get our food, we were there between the lunch and dinner rush on a Sunday. I would expect this kind of delay during a rush but not while it's slow. read more

Such a great addition to north Scottsdale. Staff is super friendly!!!! Happy hour is just the bar area and high tops. Decor is amazing. Not sure what they will do in the summer because the center is opened so it got a little hot. It just opened but around hh the sun beams in the window by the front door so hopefully they can get a cover so it's not blinding. More importantly- the food. Highly recommend the potstickers a burger. AND the fries. OMG ALL DELICIOUS!!! Hh wine pours are small but the other cocktails around the bar looks super yummy!!! I'm going back next week. read more
