While staying in the Arroyo grande area as we made our way down the coast for the holidays, my husband and I came to Humdinger brewing for a late bite to eat. Since we had our two dogs with us, we sat outside on the patio. They do have ample space heaters. Our server was very kind and attentive. For my beverage, I tried a delicious, watermelon seltzer while my husband enjoyed their variety of red and amber ales. We decided to split the Birria poutine. The poutine was out of this world! It was the perfect marriage between two dishes which are fantastic in their own rights, but when you merge them together, you get something heavenly. The dish was super filling so we did not end up ordering any other food. If you find yourself in the area, looking for a good beer, or a good bite to eat, I would definitely recommend Humdinger. read more

Peep the lovely comment he left me below. It's no wonder why staff treated me so poorly, when they have such a lovely model to look up to. Of course, your staff didn't acknowledge our encounter. For the record, it's not what was being said, but how it was said and how I was treated, that was the problem. To point out the number of 1 star reviews on my Yelp, shows me exactly what is important to you. I wasn't looking for the perfect response or solution, but your lack of anything but absolute denial says far more than any response ever could. *** TOO MANY OTHER GREAT LOCAL BUSINESSES TO SUPPORT! How is being rude to someone who hasn't become a customer yet, even a thing? Did not have a good experience here. It started when the host seated us and made us feel like an inconvenience and only got worse from there. We were a group of four and the last person to order was a vegetarian. Since the menu options were limited, our friend wanted a salad and, from the kids menu, the grilled cheese (she's not a kid). The waiter told us she couldn't order from the kids menu and was so dismissive and condescending that we all offered (to her) to leave but she refused. So she had a salad and didn't get the grilled cheese -- so to recap: not letting her order an additional item from the kids menu means they actually lost out on an order. Brilliant business plan. The food was extremely mediocre (dry, flavorless) and ironically, my friends salad was probably the best dish. But here's why this is a two star review instead of a three star. Look at the one star reviews for this place and read the snarky comments the manager? Owner? Leaves. They are outrageously unprofessional. There are many restaurants within a 2 minute walk from this one where the food is better and when one provides honest feedback they are met with professionalism and humility not an "I'm better than you and don't need your money" response. Quick service, good food, and good beverages too. Nice atmosphere, glass doors open to the patio deck and sports playing on the TV's. We liked the food and their hot sauce very much. Edit in response to owner: I am not saying untrue things for content. It is based upon our experience. We asked our waitress about some beers since we were unsure of what they were like but she suggested we try doing flights and didn't seem like she wanted to give us samples. She should be re-trained for customer service then. Apparently you need to be straight forward and ask for a sample if you want it. We came during their brunch hours (10 am (11 am for live music)) - 1 pm (food) / 2 pm (live music). I ordered their Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs ($19) which comes with biscuits and gravy, and potatoes. Food came out timely and at the right temperature. Their gravy is loaded with sausage so it was very flavorful. For sure, the best sausage gravy I've ever had for biscuits. Most biscuits and gravy are very mild or bland. This one was bursting with sausage flavor. May not be healthy but why would you otherwise order gravy. Chicken fried steak and eggs were good. I chose their crispy dipping potatoes for the potato option. They were nice and crispy. I really enjoyed my food even though I came here for the beer. Service was friendly and efficient. Lots of homemade brews with plenty of local drafts as well. The food is pretty good but on the pricier side. Service has been great every time they went but seats fill up quick. Oohhhh man Humdinger is one of our new go-tos whenever we head down to the SLO area! We took a chance trying this awesome little brewery one afternoon and it did not disappoint! From the cute outdoor seating to the super friendly/helpful server, we left with our bellies full and a smile on our face! I ordered the lamb dip sandwich (like what????) and it had a delicious amount of mustard on it served with some mouthwatering lamb au jus. I'm a lamb lover and I almost cried because it was so good. Not to mention I smothered it with their homemade hot sauce (which we bought to-go as well!). The boyfriend ordered their hot chicken sandwich which was a part of their $20 lunch meal which included a drink. His sammie was fireeee. We each got a hard seltzer and it was so fresh and unique! Blinded by rainbows was a mix of fruit flavors and the absolute best seltzer I've ever had. Overall, 10/10 service, 10/10 food, and 10/10 purchases from Humdinger! Get the Smash burger or chicken sandwich and don't forget to try their delicious, crunchy onion rings that taste home made! Their sweet potato fries are pretty legit too! Finally, the best part? I don't even drink but I go here at least once a month for my burger fix and usually wash it down with one of their housemaid root beers. We stopped in at Humdinger after doing a bit of walking around AG. The service was good and they have extended outdoor seating at the moment which is very helpful. Hopefully they can add some heaters though as the temps cool off in the evenings. Make sure you bring a jacket if hanging out in the evening. Oxtail was tasty and they had really good wings too. Stopped in here after a loooong day of softball. Outside patio was crammed with a youth baseball team but we were able to get a table inside right away. Doors and windows were all open and it was perfect weather for the evening! Service was fast and friendly. Menu has ALOT of items I wanted to try. I went with the birria poutine. DAMN WAS IT GOOD!! There are alot of other things I wanted to try, but if I came back here I don't know how I could not get the poutine again. Just better come with friends/family so you can share. The BIG pretzel was tasty too but could have used juuuuust a bit more cheese in the cup. Chuli cheese dog was quite good. Not quite knock your socks off like the poutine was, but still quite tasty, as were the sweet potato fries that were added to that. The smash burger (not pictured: because my son is impatient and couldn't wait for me to snap a pic before he inhaled half the darn thing) was tasty as well. Stopped in for lunch. We've been hear before but not any time recently so figured it was due for a re-visit. Service was prompt as it was not particularly crowded either. The music playing was a bit obnoxious in my opinion but overall the ambiance is what you'd expect from a brewery. I appreciated the comfy chairs in the dining area that were not all metal like a lot of breweries. I ordered the carnitas salad which had LOTS of very favorable meat on it and the guacamole and sour cream added a nice creaminess since the salad is served with no dressing. My hubby ordered the smash burger and this is what he had to say: "Smash burger was a solid B. I'd get it again but might go for the western option (no lettuce or aioli or pickles but adda BBQ sauce, bacon, and two large crispy onion rings). Burger had good flavor and nice crispy edges, bun & cheese were just right. Husband ordered the dip dinger based on our server's suggestion and he was happy with it as well.
