We have horrible luck with Hydrex. This company constantly sets appointments they are late for or have to reschedule. Kiki in the office is very nice but, the actual service is lacking. Upon coming on-site the technicians are willing to identify problems but unwilling to solve them. I have been dealing with pest control companies for 15 years and Hydrex is by far the worst performing. Save your time and look elsewhere. read more

Happily, we continue to live with no critters. However, an army of ants decided to invade my kitchen. Unfortunately, I couldn't address the ants as I discovered the ants right when I was leaving for an appointment. Called Hydrex, and Kiki was immediately on top of things. She said she would call Ernesto to come by today and she'd leave me a voice message at to what time. Returning from my appointment (I was anxious), I checked in with Hydrex. Edie took care of my call and informed me that Ernesto was scheduled to come today. At home, Kiki had left a voice message as promised. We moved and discovered roaches in the kitchen and ants out by the pool, so we wanted to use a local smaller company with an office in the area. We picked Hydrex, and I'm sorry we did that. The technician, Mark, came and acted as if he were having a bad day. No problem, I wasn't looking for a friend. He charged $400.00 for the service, and promised a follow up. We also set up for him to come spray every three months around the outside of the house. I wanted monthly, but, he said we didn't need it that often. He never came back. I called Hydrex, and they claimed that there was no guarantee, there would not be a follow up, and they had no idea what I was talking about in terms of having set up regular service. We researched several pest control companies before deciding to go with Hydrex to help us with a rat problem in our attic. In October on 2009, they came out and trapped several rats and also sealed/patched any holes they were coming through. The price was somewhat high but we felt good about supporting a local company. The work they did was average. They delivered what they said they would, nothing more, nothing less. The service came with a 30 day guarantee, meaning they would come back to catch additional rats up to 30 days after the service was completed. We called on the 28th day after hearing noises upstairs and they argued with us about the initial date of service. It was only after I provided the receipt (they don't have their own records?) that they agreed we were within the warranty period and sent someone out. After that somewhat minor hiccup, all was well until this last month (April 2011) when we got a new roof. The roofers removed a lot of the patch work that had been done by Hydrex in 2009 and we needed to have it redone. We called Hydrex back to get a quote for patch work. We were told the technician would be here between 8am and 12pm. We waited and waited and at 12:45 the technician came to the door and apologized for being late but said he still needed some time. Apparently, he had been sitting in his truck outside our house on the phone for quite some time. After that, he returned to his car and remained on the phone in front of our house for another 30 minutes. Not cool. He finally came to provide our estimate at 1:15, 75 minutes after the end of the 4 hour window. So, after the issues with the warranty in 2009 and this late technician today, I think we'll be going with another (hopefully more professional) company. read more

Love these guys! I've used them twice... the first time to rat-proof our 1927 home. That was over 3 years ago. It was guaranteed for I think 6 months and they did have to come back once, which the technician fixed a small area where they tried to break back in. The Hydrex guys were VERY thorough and professional and the price was lower than others I got estimates from. To date these rats can not get in my house! so I'm just laughing knowing the little haters can not mess with me. After that great experience I called again for wasp nest removal and they came out and smacked those down in like 10 minutes at a very reasonable charge. UPDATE EIGHT YEARS LATER: Still no rats. I needed them for an ant problem ... anyways, this review comes a year later after the fact ... they did a great job, totally trustworthy and very respectful. In fact, I called them a couple of weeks after they sprayed the outside to let them know I was still having a problem. Had Carlos from Hydrex come over to my house to get rid of bugs in the yard. He took a sample and said he would get back to me and never did. I left a message but nobody got back to me. If the job was too difficult someone from Hydrex should've given us a courtesy call saying they are unable to help or do the job all together. Update: I am impressed that Hydrex's manager and president reached out to us. They showed that they want to do a good job. They introduced more options available to us for removing ants like vapor deposition for tight areas, special caulking for cracks where ants can enter and even an option to treat under the house. The president of the company has a lengthy background of pest control. While Raid spray has kept our house clean of ants, we may try their service again in the future to see just how effective Hydrex can be. Original: We have the bi-monthly service for ants. In theory, the technician comes every other month to spray outside the house so that the ants do not come inside. However, every summer, I see ants. I call to schedule a follow-up. They're never available until 5 days later. By then, I've done all the work myself trying all the DIY home remedies and spraying Raid all over the house. When Ernesto finally comes, I'm expecting to see no more ants. Yet, I still see ants! I have to call two, three times each time waiting a few days for someone to actually show up. I don't know what I'm paying for. I'm seriously looking at another service because Hydrex can't get it right! read more

Miguel came out in February to deal with a major ant invasion in the kitchen. He is knowledgeable and very thorough. After treating the ants, he carefully checked the screens in the attic and patched up a gap around the cleanout pipe outside that could let animals in. The ants disappeared and have not come back. Just in case, I signed up for a bimonthly plan. Yesterday, Hydrex called and scheduled a time for Miguel to come today. They were very happy to come at the time that worked best for me. Miguel knocked on the door to see how everything was. My dogs were barking in the window, so he returned to his truck and got them both dog treats and said hello to them. He inspected the property and I told us what had to be done. He gave us a starting date and time. When Mark was finished, all the new wood was painted to match the existing. Last summer we started getting cockroaches in our kitchen, it was the first time at this house since we bought it, 25 years ago. At first it was just a few here and there, but they soon multiplied quickly. Twice I removed everything from the kitchen and sprayed every square inch, I waited a few days, put everything back, but they soon came back with a vengeance! It got to the point where we didn't even want to be in our house, they were taunting us it seemed, they no just came out when it was dark, they had no fear! Finally I stopped by hydrex pest control on foothill blvd in La Crescenta I explained the problem, they were very friendly and understanding and set up an appointment for "Dave" to come out Monday. On Monday, Dave showed up right on time very friendly and professional, looked over my house and explained the process . He said He wanted me to remove everything from the kitchen and put it on the dining room table, I told him I had done that twice before, he said, well, I'm going to ask you to do it one more time, he was very confident so I said ok. He told me I would have to stay out of the house for a couple of hours, but the roach problem would be solved! I followed his instructions exactly, for the next month or so, every morning I got up I would find dead cockroaches in different places around the kitchen, but I never saw a live on again, eventually I stopped finding dead ones and now the middle of January they're just a bad memory. The charge for that treatment was a little over $200, Dave was the nicest guy ever, in fact, I ran into him on several different occasions he asked me if I had anymore problems I said joyfully, no! I felt like he had become a new good friend! I am so incredibly satisfied with Dave and Hydrex Pest Control, I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart if you have a problem, CALL THEM WITHOUT HESITATION!!
