This review is for tailoring. Twice I had to return because they couldn't properly lengthen the sleeves on a suit jacket. The seamstress caused the sleeve to twist and pleat somehow. And they weren't exactly helpful about fixing it. They kept saying it could be pressed out as if they couldn't be bothered to try. Finally, they decide to add some more lining and resew - it was like pulling teeth - and now the lining hangs down outside the sleeve. Conveniently, the owner was never around to give me any sort of discount. I'd be really wary of bringing anything of value here for tailoring. read more

I love this place. They can take stains out of anything- even if it's been washed before. They get you in and out fast and with a smile. Andy rocks! The tailor is great for simple jobs. My local joint for everyday vs. the suits or favorite ties--the good shit goes to that ritzy place on Larchmont and Beverly. Everywhere else I've tried (except for Sun's but she's too slow and changed the color of one of my linen shirts) fails to button down to the second or third button down from the collar and as a result they get wrinkled. I did hear a guy complain about their tailoring and their employee's response was pathetic--but that's why you take it to Golden Needle. read more

The service here is nice & friendly. I would've given 3 stars, but my clothes came back looking worn out & smelling funky. All my cotton pieces came back looking like they'd been scrubbed on a washboard & I needed to use a lint shaver. And the smell? It literally smelt like dust & dirt. I noticed soon after wearing one of my cardigans that my allergies started acting up. I even needed to use my inhaler. Eek. I wish I could give them more stars because they were really nice =(. read more

Why did I go here? It's not good. They didn't sew a button like we discussed. In fact the safety pin and tag marking where the missing button is, was still there. Did they clean my dress at all? Totally weirded out. Another dress came back with a tiny mini new stain as well. The work ethic here is slim to none. I've been to some stellar dry cleaners before & this is a waste of $$$ In addition - my clothes smell weird? Like musty. To the point where I had to keep smelling the garments to analyze if they've been cleaned in the slightest! Ugh. read more

My local spot that cleans my threads and makes good alterations. I've been going steady to this place since I moved to Echo park and i can't say that they've ever let me down. I like the fact that they don't use the chemically bad stuff that has been associated with destroying the Ozone layer and causes cancer. :) The pricing is a bit questionable sometimes, but I trust that they are good, honest people. read more

I love this place! I've been going to this cleaners on and off in the past few years. I was always happy with the result. Last time I went, the guy at the cashier mentioned they do special washing such as carpets, sleeping bags and car floor mats. After a couple times of the camping, I've decided to give it a try on my sleeping bags. Before I took it to the cleaners, I had to make sure that it would take away all the smell of the sweat and dust and yet it would NOT loose the fluffiness cause I've invested some money on my sleeping bag. The result was as good as expected. It smells as good as new, it didn't loose the fluffiness at all. Even the price was reasonable. I think I'm gonna try the car mats next time. I have been coming to Hyperion Cleaners for years and have had hundreds of garments dry cleaned and at least three dozen garments altered. They do an excellent job on both dry cleaning and alterations--stain removal, garment repairs, and odor free, environmentally friendly dry cleaning. Hyperion Cleaners costs a little more, but you get a high quality job, the work is done quickly and as promised, and they track all of your garments so nothing is lost. The owner works incredibly hard, and it feels like they are always open, even on Sundays. I have recommended this cleaners to others and my friends have also been pleased. Note that they are also a UPS pickup point so you can combine trips and have boxes shipped to them, and for that matter their shoe repair is also excellent. read more

Don't get your clothes altered here. First of all they are not very friendly, so I should have taken that as a sign not to leave my clothes with them. They turned a very simple alteration request into me having to come back three times and try to get the issue worked out, only to have them not even alter the garment I prepaid to have fixed. Not to mention they offered to give my money back and then chased me into the parking lot after they realized they added up my bill wrong and then made me give them back the cash they just refunded me. I was so appalled by the lack of customer care that I will never return and plan on telling everyone I know of their terrible business tactics. Very very disappointing. read more

This place will try to scam you. You will be asked to sign for your charge without seeing an itemized list or the result of their service. I noticed the bill was particularly high on my last visit and, when asked for itemized cost, I was told that I was paying for a jacket I had already picked up! The shady gent behind the counter tried to convince me that this happens regularly although I am sure he would never have let me walk out without paying for an item. I am also sure I would have never left without paying. This place is taking advantage of their convenience to Trader Joe's. I am so sad I have to write this review. I'm a long time customer of Hyperion Cleaners. I really like the friendly gentleman who works in the evenings. Came to pick up a white silk blouse and it had visible grey Iron marks all over the back! It's disconcerting that they thought it was ok to give this blouse back to me in the first place?? He agreed to redo it. Fine. Good luck I thought. I just now went to pick it up an the owner argued with me for several minutes about how the very clear iron marks were a stain?? They got some of the marks out but not all. He argued and argued with me. The back of the blouse is grey and patchy looking. I vow to never give them my business again. I brought in a beautiful black dress with crystals on it. The dress tag says dry clean only. Not only did they completely ruin my dress (every crystal came off), they had the audacity to charge me for it when I came to pick it up for an event that night. (they reversed only after I protested) NO CALL OR WARNING OR APOLOGY. They said "not their fault, crystals were glued on". WRONG. I called Alice and Olivia and they have NEVER had any issues similar to this and they sell a lot of these dresses. They told me it was my dry cleaners fault. Avoid at all costs. It's one thing to ruin clothing and it's another to behave as they did and deny responsibility and even worse, not let me know ahead of time. read more

A while back, I frequented this cleaners a lot due to its close proximity to my house and to Trader Joe's. As time went on and the prices increased, I went elsewhere. I decided to give them another try...because I had a wedding to attend, and wanted to have a dress cleaned for the wedding. I dropped my dress off on a Wednesday at 4pm. The gentleman named Han told me that my dress would be ready by Thursday evening after 5. They charged $13.95 for my dress and I went on my way. On Thursday I called and a) they couldn't seem to locate my dress. b) they said their was absolutely no way my dress would be done on that evening (of course not, they didn't even know where it was). On friday morning, I received a call saying that they weren't sure they could clean my dress because they fear color transfer. I was furious. First of all, I needed the dress that evening, and you are JUST now noticing that you may not be able to clean it? This left me at a crazy place because I intended to wear the dress to a wedding and they hadn't even started cleaning it or didn't think that they could. When I explained this to Han, he was unapologetic and couldn't seem to grasp the concept of why it was an issue. With all of the choices within a 5-mile radius for cleaners, I would say DO NOT take your cleaning to this one. I will not be going back and I will be letting my friends know about it. read more

The customer service at HYPERION CLEANERS is a disgrace. I brought a duvet comforter and the ticket the gave me said $42. On check out I was charged an additional $27 which was not on the ticket for the linen of the duvet. When I brought this up the rather rude manager (or owner) told me that "everyone know there is additional charge for lining" while not accepting ANY responsibility for the fact I was given a ticket (not an estimate) stating $42. He was extremely rude and unyielding when I requested this be credited to me (I had already paid)- even though I told him I would not have dropped this off had i known it would cost me $70. He finally relented and offered a $10 credit off future service - as if I would go to that rude dump again. Finally he credited my credit card.The way they do business and treat customers is unacceptable, rude and condescending. I will NEVER go to this place again. read more

This was my go to cleaners for a long time, but sadly I just can't support them any longer. I've been willing to overlook the less than stellar work and high prices, because the location next to TJs is ideal. But no more. The straw that broke the scale was when I had back to back interviews a few months ago. Like most, I have one super expensive interview shirt that has to be dry cleaned between wears. I dropped the shirt off after the first interview with explicit instructions. I even asked for the shirt to be ready an hour before I really needed it, but when I arrived they had not finished the shirt. They finished it quickly, but I was still late to my interview. If they had just told me that they wouldn't have been able to get it done then I would have taken the shirt elsewhere. Never again. read more

I have never once received my clothes back fully cleaned and fresh. Not once. It's like they don't clean anything at all. I don't mind paying well for excellent dry cleaning, but when the prices are incredibly high and the work so incompetent, one realizes the ONLY reason they're in business is the fact that they're next door to Trader Joe's, and we all want to do our grocery shopping and dry cleaning in one go. This place was awful. They ruined the jacket to my favorite suit. I asked them to take the sleeves up an inch or two. The sleeves had functional buttons that they took off and sewed together. It was a very sloppy job, they left the threads uncut and the seems frayed. This was a very nice Marc Jacobs suit. Was... I should have known when a customer before me the day I took the suit in was complaining about how they ruined a dress of hers. Take your clothes to someone professional. read more

They lost my clothes. Didn't even put much effort into finding them or offer me compensation. All they did was to tell me to call them every week and ask if my clothes turned up. Which I did for several weeks, but every time I talked to them they had no idea who I was, and I had to remind them of everything, so my clothes could've turned up but they're too unorganized to put the story together. This used to be my go to cleaners, and they were always great, but they changed ownership sometime last year and everything changed. read more

I don't write reviews very often, but I felt like I'd do one here since I've found an exceptional cleaners. I don't have much loyalty to a cleaners since their literally on every other block and I don't have much patience if they make a mistake. I'm not sure how you judge a dry cleaner, but I have two key criteria as I care about my clothes very much. One which is very basic and where most cleaners make mistakes since they clean such a high volume of clothes on a daily basis is they must clean and press my clothes without damaging them as I go to the cleaners on a weekly basis at a minimum. Two which sets Hyperion apart from most cleaners is they must be able to get out stains on very delicate clothing. I've had a few times where I really wasn't sure Hyperion would be able to remove a stain on some pricey items, but to my utmost satisfaction they've gotten the job done each time! Therefore they've earned my consistent business. If you add in the fact that they advertise that they clean with non toxic cleaners, which was the primary reason that I tried them out in the first place. I couldn't be more happy. read more

I would not recommend getting alterations or repairs done here. I gave them a garment that had ripped and asked for repair on the seam. They patched it horribly, it looked so terrible and they didn't even bother to match the right thread color. After I complained they argued with me but did take the garment back and they repaired it well for no charge. So they are capable of doing good work, I'm just not sure how to get them to do good work the first time read more

If you need something hemmed this is your place. The clerk asked me if I'd like the original hem on a pair of jeans that were a couple of inches too long. I said "sure" not thinking much about it. When I got the jeans back and took them out of the wrapper I thought "Holy crap" they dry cleaned my jeans and didn't hem them. They looked exactly as I'd taken them in with the "worn in look" hem bottom. It wasn't until I tried them on that I realized they were hemmed...to perfection! The detail was unbelievable, I could barely see the old hem sewn into the shortened jeans. Had me fooled - fantastic job! read more

I was staying nearby Hyperion Cleaners for a wedding and had a dress overnighted that morning. When it arrived around noon, it needed some alterations so I could wear it that night. The seamstress was able to turn around my alteration in a matter of a couple hours so that I could wear the dress that night. Lifesaver!!! Also, they got a massive red wine mess out of my wedding dress and only charged me $18.00 to clean the gown (it wasn't one of those beaded princess things, but still a full length silk gown with decorative pieces that needed to be removed and sewn back on.) I live in Silver Lake since 1999 and it's convenient to go to Gelson's and drop off my dry cleaning too. First the price is expensive, but it's convenient and I tolerate it. But on my most recent visit on 10/22/17, I dropped off a pair of wool pants to dry clean. The counter person checked it in, do the look over and even asked me if I want to keep the pleats or not. I decided to keep the pleats and prepaid the $6. Four days later I received a text message with a picture of my pants stating that there's a gash/rip on the back of the pants. I was surprised by this since I wouldn't drop off an unwearable pants to have it dry clean. When I picked it up on 10/28 I asked the owner why this wasn't spotted when it was checked in (spoiler alert: the answer is the hole wasn't there). My guess is that it got snagged on something in their facility and they did not take responsibility for it. The owner simply told me too bad and other customers who have experienced something similar did not complain. My wonder is that how many of those never came back. I'll join them now. Too bad, I support my local proprietors but not when they treat me like this. read more

I had used Hyperion Cleaners almost weekly for two years without any problems. On my most recent pick up, I noticed when I got home that one of the shirts I had taken in for cleaning was missing. I went back the next day and asked if they could please check for it. They promised they would and would text me with an update but did not. I went back on three separate occasions and each time they gave me the same promise to look for it and text me (and seemed to have no record of looking for the shirt). They provided no solution for the missing item and didn't seem to take any steps to find it, so I cannot recommend using them. read more

Avoid avoid avoid. This is my first bad yelp review. I generally don't like doing this but after my recent experience there I'm just in complete shock and suddenly feel grateful I can write this to warn others. Basically, I brought my rug there which after looking at it they told me a higher price than on the phone. It's a shag rug so, ok, I get it. I pay the extra and pick it up two weeks later. It's just as dirty as before so I bring it back thinking there was a mistake and it was never sent to be cleaned. Btw it wasn't stained or anything. Just had a lot of loose dirt, hair and needed to be freshened up. This happens 3 more times! I was very patient and the lady was apologetic each time and tried to fix it until I finally said this obviously wasn't working and I'd like my money back. Suddenly she was no longer apologetic and told me there was nothing she could do and would not refund my money. Unbelievable. read more

As a proud Silverlake resident, I try to frequent local businesses and support the community. Hard Times, Gelsons, YAS, Bodybuilders Gym, the list goes on of amazing businesses. Unfortunately, of the vast multitude of dry cleaners in a one block radius, I selected Hyperion Cleaners. They used to have an adorable college student, Latin guy, shaved head, studied math and wanted to be an Actuary, super good service and I was happy. Then, over the past couple of years, HORRIBLE. I've never written a bad review or complained in my life, but I had a series of awful experiences with Hyperion Cleaners. First, they destroyed my silk top. Then, they "lost" my dress and included someone else's dress in my clothing order. Even more insulting, they basically said it was my fault for one reason or another and refused to even apologize, much less make amends. I never asked them to do ANYTHING, but a little human compassion and responsibility is just basic decency. The straw that broke the camel's back: We were going on vacation and needed literally everything cleaned. I brought the clothes home and my husband noticed a couple of his shirts were missing. I went in to ask them to search for them, and for some reason the guy was immediately defensive, mean and rude. WTF??? Here's the truly disgusting part: The last time we went in, the same guy was wearing my husband's shirt. Our jaws dropped. There was not a doubt in our minds, it was the same very expensive shirt, right down to the tiny mark/stain barely visible at the waist unless you knew it was there. They steal, they lie and, even worse, they have bad manners. Do not go here. They ruin, lose and steal clothing. Stealing, theft, robbery. It makes you feel violated and it's just plain wrong. read more

They do a great job and are always friendly. I agree with the other posters in that the prices are a little suspect. I really wish they would post their prices at the very least. Other than that, the cleaning doesn't always get out all the serious stains but that is really a problem with the "green" method and not their own technique I think because I have had that problem with other "green" cleaners. This place is super convenient of you to go Trader Joes all the time which is why I keep coming back. But I'm done and you should stay away too. First of all, they are crazy expensive. Secondly, they do a poor cleaning job - I picked a blouse up the other day and when I got home noticed that instead of getting some dirt out, it was now crusted and dried and more permanently caked in my blouse. Great. The final straw was that I had a jumpsuit cleaned only to notice when I tried to wear it a week later that they had ripped it. I went back to get it fixed (it was 2 weeks later at this point - guess I don't go to TJ's THAT often...) but I was in the system so couldn't imagine it would be a problem. Shockingly, I was told that I should pay for the fix since I didn't come back immediately. No matter I have paid hundreds of dollars to this place over the years and not once returned an item. I told them I wasn't paying and they said they would make an exception, but the whole thing was ridiculous and I am done with them. read more

I really like how there's a drive-thru especially when there are no parking spaces available. I think it'd be really nice for people who have kids. The people there seem to be pretty nice. I've compared the prices here to other places and this place seems to be on the cheaper side too. read more
