Iffy. That's how I felt when I stood in front of this restaurant and looked inside. The outside had a bunch of flies flying around and when I stepped inside, there was a couple flying around inside as well. Not as much as the outside, but still some which made me question whether or not this was a good place to bring my mom to. The inside of the restaurant is small. There's only about 6 tables in here that can sit 4 people each so a big party is out of the question. And as soon as you step inside, you can see the whole kitchen. My mom and I got here around 230pm on a Friday afternoon and there was only 2 tables occupied. We sat near the front of the restaurant so there was a few flies flying around. We ordered their dan dan mein, pig ears, xiao long bao, and another type of dumplings. Their pig ears are different from other restaurants as they don't use a spicy chili sauce, but rather, they use some sort of vinegar-soy sauce mixture. Their dan dan mein wasn't spicy either, just salty. And the filling for their xiao long bao and dumplings was tight and didn't crumble as you bite into it. Service was okay. Not much interaction except when the waitress brought us our food and check. They also didn't give us a bag when we told them we wanted 2 boxes. Overall, not our favorite place. My mom already said we're not going to come back here so yeupp. That's that. read more

Had an authentic Chinese restaurant experience at this place. What does that mean? 1) Really good food. We got three different types of dumplings, salt and pepper tofu, scallion pancakes, and XLB. Everything was good to great. The XLB were probably my least favorite because it had been overcooked with a couple dumplings having bursted already and the meat being too tight. 2) Really bad service. Had to ask several times for water, tea, and napkins. 3) Kinda dirty. My friend's baby's pacifier dropped on the floor and well, that was the end of that pacifier. I came here after a group volunteering event and was surprised that the ten of us were able to fit in the tiny restaurant. I called ahead and Michael (I think) was really nice and said he will make it work and sure did. We ordered some green beans, beef and pork dumplings, xlb, beef noodle soups, and some fried rice. I loved the green beans and thought the xlb were also really flavorful. The dumpling skin felt a bit thicc but still tasty. The fried rice was such a hit despite it being such a basic dish. The restaurant interior decor is pretty dingy. The name could also be updated, maybe to iDumpling. I would not recommend for a first date or with a large group tbh. My fiancé and I were walking around for a late lunch since we had plans at 5:45pm. We ate around 2:30pm and the spot was empty. Had the garlic cucumbers, scallion pancakes, pork and Napa cabbage dumplings (12), and Xiao long bao (6). Scallion pancakes were a bit bland, but the garlic cucumbers were refreshing with the entire meal. The pork & Napa cabbage dumplings was my favorite of the meal. Delicious Shanghai home made style food. This place is a real hole in the wall but it is soooo goooood. Come early because the line goes all the way outside after 6:30. You can order things here like wood ear mushroom with celery and pig ears. Do not order the Shanghai dumplings, they are definitely homemade but the meat is kind of dry and the tip of the skin is thick. It's not fake hipster like Mission Chinese in Sf. We ordered the green onion cake, the pig ears, string beans, pork dumpling with sauerkraut (not on the menu but there's a poster on the wall saying they have it), pork dumpling with chives, and pork and shrimp dumplings. Green onion cake was pretty bland- 2 stars at best and maybe even a 1 star. Pig ears weren't that great either. String beans were decent. We enjoyed all the dumpling dishes, although the pork dumplings with sauerkraut were my favorite. Will return, but would only order dumplings next time. Bill was $80 for 4 people after tip and taxes. As others have said, the service is poor, but if you were expecting good service from a hole in the wall shop with $6 dumplings, you probably have bigger issues than the poor service you had. read more

Finally tried this! Had it bookmarked for awhile! Order: Pork and cabbage dumpling: really great wrap texture (thicker) and filling. The wrap is key. Juicy too! I forgot to ask for a cup of dumpling broth which my grandma always asked for. Beijing noodle: like Jiang jiang mien but sweeter - maybe because its mainland and not Taiwan? I wasn't a fan of the sweetness. I've had some great hand drawn versions so I'm spoiled. Cucumbers with garlic: so nice and garlicky. Your colleagues will hate you the next day. But I LOVE garlic! Small Chinese restaurant in downtown RWC. The Taiwanese food here is very flavorful and close to authentic. Their popcorn chicken and pork chop rice both had large portions, and their green onion pancakes were fantastic as well. Overall, a solid choice for Chinese food in the area. read more

They have green onion -and- chive pancakes, and one says "pancake" and the other says "cake". Lol. They were sold out of the green onion so we got the chive. It's on the smaller side, based on the other restaurants I've gotten this at, but it was still fine. Tasty. The cucumbers were smashed, (yay) and extra garlic-y! The pork and chive dumplings were juicy, and had plenty of filling. The shanghai dumplings were ...fairly disappointing. Almost didn't order due to low health score. But had my vaccine, so took a chance. The Beijing Noodles were very satisfying. Not just noodles but veggies and meat. I will order again. The place is more of a hole in the wall, with not a ton of seating but our group of a dozen got there early enough to beat the lunch crowd and the staff helped us get a few tables pushed together. Throughout our service, the staff did a great job with getting us everything we needed, including all the extra orders we put in, both to eat in and also to take out. As the name says, they have a lot of different dumplings to choose from here. The dumplings were super tasty (especially the pork and chives one, as well as the soup dumplings). Green onion pancakes are also spot on. I didn't really like their noodle soups as much - they were a little more on the bland side in my opinion. The menu is very short and straight to the point. One of the best deals they have is the XLB. I have never seen such a XLB order priced at what they have it priced at. Our favorite dish was the pork and shrimp dumpling and the most disappointing dish was the kung pao chicken. Given that this place seemed super Chinese and pretty authentic, the kungpao chicken was basically fried chicken breast mixed with some spicy peppers. Maybe it was your typical szchechuan flavor, but that is something I would not order there again. I didn't realize they had XLB to the end of our meal - the taste was okay, nothing special but definitely the price point was great! Fried rice was pretty good. Overall food was good, definitely wish that they could improve on the kung pao chicken. There isn't much parking nearby you will need to park and then walk. Great tasting dumplings! I really like the chicken and chive dumplings because they're very flavorful. The dumpling skin is not overly thick. I also really like the spicy beef tendon cold dish! I don't think it's spicy enough (it is barely spicy), but it is really good. Topped with a good amount of cilantro. The green onion pancakes are also decent. However, it's not a consistent order; what I mean is sometimes the size of the pancake will be huge, and other times it will be super tiny, still with the same amount of slices. Besides the size, they are usually thin and crispy (yumm). Beef tendon noodles are also pretty decent. The tendon is cooked to be very tender and the clear soup broth is super tasty. The noodles are not the best (kind of thick and slightly over cooked, not much flavor). There is usually a line whenever I come here or the place is pretty full, so try and come early! read more

Delicious dumplings! First time here and it was much better then I thought, very flavorful. I got the pork/shrimp/chive dumplings. So good! I also ordered the wood ear mushrooms and cucumber, it was also great! Can't find that dish anywhere so it was a nice surprises. I'm glad I didn't order more or I would of been miserable if I kept eating! They are so good you just want to eat them all! I ordered off Grubhub and it messed my order up, but when I arrived, they got everything ready in 5 minutes so it was great anyway. Only this was I drove past the place from my gps, it's on the corner of el Camino real and broadway, behind a tree...so you might miss it, not much parking in front anyway so it's ok if you go passed it.
