I'm not really sure what all the hullabaloo about this place is. My complaint is that everything tastes artificial. While I understand many places use syrups and such to flavor their items, here you can definitely tell its fake strawberry or fake mango etc etc whereas other places it's not as prominent. I've come here twice for snow - have yet to try their boba & tea. However, judging from the quality of snow, I doubt I would be a huge fan of their boba either, preferring instead to head towards Oakland for that. I did not like that the mochi comes in flavors also - like why cant you leave perfectly good mochi alone!? The purple ones had a mild grape flavor and it was weird. If you're desperately craving snow, this place will do in a pinch since there are no local competitors in the WC area. I was still kind of full from my giant burger, but still wanted to try the brick toast since it was so pretty. I went with the nutella spread and green tea ice cream, which went very well together. My son seemed very happy that I ordered it since he ate half of it. He had a single scoop of their chocolate ice cream, which he said was very smooth. The birthday boy got the egg puff waffle with strawberry ice cream and mango bits, which he said he really enjoyed. My other nephew ordered the regular size bowl of honeydew melon shave snow with lychee jelly and condensed milk, which I thought was super sweet. However, he really liked it. I told the young lady who rung us up that it was my nephew's birthday and asked if they had a candle and she said she would check with the kitchen, but little did I realize that the owner would bring us our orders and even sang "happy birthday" to my nephew. Stopped in here and was drawn in by the higher-ish ratings. I went with my standard milk tea with boba. I thought the taste was very watery (watered-down) and didn't have much flavor to me. Another red-flag was that the milk-tea was ready almost as soon as I was done paying for it. This typically means (and as you can see below I've been to more than a few boba spots) that the milk tea is pre-made. I haven't had a great experience with spots that have their drinks ready almost immediately. The boba itself was just o.k. as well. This place is a nice addition to the concord/walnut creek area since there's really nothing like this out here. I ordered the mango shaved ice w/ Mochi and condensed milk. ($4) I think I ordered under pressure because the cashier said it was his favorite and the most popular among all the other flavors. I tried it and I didn't really taste the mango- I should've gotten the matcha green tea instead. My boyfriend got the tiger milk tea also because of the cashier's recommendation. It was pretty good, but it tasted similar to Quickly's tiger milk tea which I think is bleh. Overall, this place is cool to hang out and to satisfy your sweet tooth. I'm shocked, because the toast itself was definitely a four out of five, employees were friendly and attentive and the bathroom was super clean. The crepe was sweet and warm which helped melt the ice cream just a touch. The strawberries were sweet and in-season. Overall, we would definitely order again. The brick toast: The brick toast looked like fat French toast in photos and that's how it came out. It was sweeter and richer than French toast. The brick part comes in with the crust of the bread... it's hard- perhaps crunchy from all the sugar? This dessert was also delicious but I would have preferred a version where the crust was cut off - the middle bread was soft and delicious. Overall, we wouldn't order again. My first experience here isn't good, they couldn't find our mobile order, took 10mins to figure it out just to start my order then. This Ice Monster is NOT the Taipei Ice Monster, and while it serves decent shave ice, you will be disappointed if you're expecting the Taiwanese chain. With that said, if you aren't expecting ICE MONSTER and just want a nice dessert, it's fine.
