Took my niece for breakfast and we were greeted right away. There was a wait to sit inside but the patio was open so we sat outside. The view is of the busy shopping center parking lot but the weather was great so overall not a bad seat. Our server was amazing! He provided above excellent service, just wish I could remember his name. My niece loved her cupcake pancakes from the kids menu. I had a basic breakfast consisting of eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. The vanilla specialty coffee is delicious, just be aware they put whip cream on top. The staff is always friendly. The food is always the same. Coffee is actually really good for restaurant coffee since you can look at the window and see the Starbucks across the parking lot. We've never had a bad meal it's a chain IHOP sticky tables. read more

My daughter and I went to iHop at noon just to get a little lunch. I saw a heavy-set cook wearing his mask below his chin and reading odd the orders coming in. I chose $6 special I thought of 2 eggs hash browns bacon and toast. My daughter got a BLT For $6 we thought. The bacon was so greasy, the milk was not cold. We got the bill and it was over $35. I asked the waitress about the $12.99 and $13.99 charges for the two items and she said the $6 fee is for after 4pm. Nowhere did I see that posted. I will never go to. IHOP again. read more

I was totally not impressed with waitress Suzanne. It wasn't busy and she made us seem like an inconvenience. When she brought our drinks or food she kept placing near edge. With a 7 month old in a high chair I was trying to push the food down to make space for everything we had ordered - she treated us as if we caused her trouble to her start of a day. It was just for a party of 3. Two adults and a baby. We didn't need her climbing over the booth behind us to place new menus on our table from the back. I really didn't enjoy this outing. As we are a small family we don't often go out and when we do it's a treat. So I'm very sad that our experience was less than expected. Brought my whole family which is 11 people. Service was atrocious. The waitress barely checked on us. Had a fat attitude when I asked for drink refills. Food was just all around sub standard. Ordered an omelette since I'd just had one the other day at this same location and it wasn't very good. My daughter ordered the chicken dinner and it was cold. Nothing great. Commercials showing fabulous breakfast and my granddaughter is what brought me in. Entry doors were dirty. Hostess area was dirty. And the floor was dirty at every part of the restaurant we walked through. Especially where they sat us. I ordered my eggs over medium, asking my server if whites would be cooked. She assured me they would be. They were not. My eggs were replaced, but with one normal looking yellow egg and a very very dark orange egg. I could eat very little of my meal. Unbelievable, haven't been to this location on rosedale for a few months now. The waitress assigned to our table was friendly and nice despite her dirty uniform top. The menu has condensed down quite a bit. My mother ordered the new menu item Saulsberry steak entree. The waitress said they were out of it. So we both had to choose something else. Since the options on the menu were very few my elderly mother chose the roasted turkey option with mashed potatoes.Then I could hear the waitress asking the cook if he could scrape up anything left. The waitress comes to the table to say they are all out of mashed potatoes but could choose country potatoes hesitant my mother accepted that option. The burger I ordered was smaller than before. It was cooked well to my liking but significantly smaller. The waitress charged my 87 year old mother the regular price for the 55\+ menu item. When I asked why her dinner was $14.99 she said we didn't order from the lower priced side when my mother clearly pointed at it on the menu. Usually experienced staff will ask questions or give them the price for ordering the same option listed in 2 areas of the menu. I didn't try to argue the point just paid and left. After 10:00 p.m. in Northwest Bakersfield, and almost every restaurant is closed... Your choices will become limited to the 24-hour joints. So I ended up at IHOP and I ordered the Sirloin Steak Tips entrée. I asked for the side salad when given the choice of salad or soup. The side salad is a spring mix; the kind that withers very quickly... So I really did appreciate it when they brought me a fresh salad :-) For side dishes, I asked for broccoli, and new red potato with green pepper & onion hash, but I asked to remove the green pepper. The plate comes with garlic bread. I said I don't want my bread to be smothered with butter and garlic. She brought my dinner shortly after. A quick look, and I noticed that the potatoes were actually made exclusively and separately "for me", because it was obvious that there was NO green pepper in it, and there has NEVER BEEN! I can't tell you how much I appreciated it. The bread was not smothered in butter and garlic... It was just like I wanted it to be and that was great. The broccoli was fresh steamed, and you could tell it was not previously frozen. Again, I really appreciated it. Most importantly, the sirloin tips were soooooo good. First of all, the portion was generous, and the meat was cooked just right, with just enough flavor... Not too salty, and so tender, it would MELT in your mouth. Honestly, it was great. When I went here, I had a party of 15 people. Now that's already a lot to handle, but we arrived at around 10:45 on a Monday night. Most places have minimal staffing on Mondays anyways. So this is a testament of how decent our service was. It took a few minutes for the one host/waiter to get the tables together. After we are seated and were reading menus, no joke, the waiter is jogging throughout the store to make sure that everything is in order and that we are doing alright while managing others guests. The food got out in a timely manner despite the complexity of the order. They actually got my order correct. (Asked to be split in half with a second plate) Admittedly, I was with a rowdy group and were still treated with great service. My meal was kinda bland for a hamburger but the other items that I tasted were rather delicious. Overall, good was Okay, but the service made a huge difference. The food is good if cooked properly. You would think as many orders for eggs as they must get, they could cook them properly. Over easy does not mean runny whites. Management also needs to control the staff horseplay and employees loudly speaking to each other, slamming trays, dishes etc that can be heard coming from the kitchen.That is very annoying to customers while dining. read more

I love the food here! I always get the BLT and it is always so so good. Customer service however is often lacking, the servers are rude, the people that take you to your table are rude. There is not even an ounce of acknowledgment before you are asked name and then that's it. I understand that they are busy but saying a hello or a smile will not take anytime. read more

Here I am again at IHOP just before 2:00 am trying to keep from ordering every carb-laden pancake on the menu. Why do I do this to myself? Okay, I settled on the Quick Two-Egg Breakfast that came with 2 eggs (gasps of surprise) hash browns, choice of sausage links or bacon, and toast - though I gave the toast to someone else in the group. Everything was cooked very well, so no problems there. It's nice to have more options than just Denny's and Zingos at this late hour, and IHOP certainly has the best selection of flavored pancakes of any of the 24 hour sit down restaurants. I like that they have a number of different syrup flavors set out on the table, too! This location is always clean, brightly lit, and has plenty of accessible parking. read more

Came here for breakfast with a party of 12. The host at the front didn't even greet us, she made it obvious she was bothered because the last 2 guests showed up a bit late. She let us know that it would be "overwhelming" for the server to take the last two guests' order. I'm not really sure what the drama was about, but the entire time all I heard was the employees talking bad about their manager.
