We came for a nice Sunday morning breakfast. The restaurant was very clean and kinda quiet for a Sunday. The hubs was looking forward to their $7 meal deal. He got the ham and cheese omelette and I tried the French toast breakfast. It's really a lot of food for only $7! I got a piece of French toast, two eggs, and could choose between bacon or sausage. I'm extremely disappointed! I was told IHOP serves gluten free pancakes so I wanted to check it out! I called the restaurant and their AI bot answered. So I asked if gluten free pancakes were available and it confirmed they were. So my family and I went there and I was looking forward to giving them a try. When it came time to order, however we were told they didn't serve gluten free pancakes anymore and that upper management had made the decision not to serve them MONTHS ago! I was so disappointed I said never mind we didn't want to order anything and were leaving. The manager came out and I told him their AI said they still served gluten free pancakes and why was that? They didn't answer but offered me protein pancakes instead. I told him I have Celiac and can only eat gluten free. The IHOP I went to in Fresno serves gluten free pancakes by the way. So it figures those in Bakersfield would choose to regress and alienate a portion of their population who have dietary restrictions through no fault of their own. I stopped at this IHOP off the 5 freeway--seemingly in the middle of nowhere--and I have to say, it's one of the nicest and cleanest IHOP locations I've ever visited. The food came out quickly and in perfect timing. To my surprise, the quality exceeded my expectations. They were rude so I became rude as I missed my scheduled appointment waiting on them to figure out how to use the cash register...had the nerve to tell me they just changed the format in their computer system....really?
