I frequent this ihop because I'm obsessed with pancakes but I don't really want to spend an hour cooking up all the batter I make when I do it at my house. The reason I do ihop over Denny's is for the better breakfast menu (flavors on top of pancakes, waffles, French toast, crepes, etc) and for the service. I have had great service at this particular ihop every time I have gone and never left hungry! The food usually comes out super fast unless you come on a busy day or busy time of day. My server tried to drive up the tab. Here is the deal. I ordered two kids meals and two adult meals. Our party of four included two children (10&11) and two adults. The server brought out four adult meals. When I asked about this she pointed out that it was "extra" food as if I had won a prize. I pointed out the orders were for children and told her directly that no child needs a large glasses of milk and refills. A child milk is fine. She didn't listen and brought two massive cups filled with milk per child. Yuck. When she brought the bill, it was rang up for 4 adult meals. I asked her to correct the mistake and to only charge us for what we had ordered. The kids couldn't even finish the meals and didn't order that large of portions. She said she wasn't allowed to change it. I made the snap choice to not tip. I directly told her that her tip would be applied to offset the cost she range me up for. This isn't NY. If your going to get paid a wage, understand that a tip is for good service and is 100% optional! If a server wants to play with my income, I can do the same. Won't be back. read more

Walked in after another group, no greeting upon initial arrival. Waited, waited, waited.. Oh! He acknowledged the group that came in after us! Another party of 5. He finally asked how many and who was here 1st, (we were & he would've known that had he bothered to look up & greet us since he's, ya' know, the HOST!!). IHOP serves good tasting pancakes. I never noticed that they were open 24 hours. That's cool to know for those after midnight cravings. They are a fine choice for breakfast in Bakersfield. The food is not as good as the locally owned places, but for a chain restaurant they are not bad. We have always received good service here and the place is clean and orderly. I have ordered regular lunch and dinner entrees a few times, but I did not like them at all. So now even when we come for dinner, I still order breakfast because "Breakfast time is all the time at IHOP"!! Pancakes are my favorite breakfast food. IHOP has many varieties to choose from. Honestly, I have not tried anything that I did not like. From the stack of 5 plain buttermilk pancakes to the Rooty Tooty Fresh N' Fruity, it's all good. So come for the breakfast. I've never felt so rushed by a server to order, eat, and be gone. I went with family to eat here. Upon our arrival the server was very pushing for us to order right away. I could see and feel her frustration when we told her we needed more time to look over the menu. We were also waiting for another person to join us and wanted to wait so all of our orders could be entered at the same time. The server was so pushy that we ordered before the person we were waiting for could join us. The server was not in the slightest way polite to any of us throughout our time at IHOP until it came down to the time to pay her. When this time came she transferred into the sweetest server trying to crack jokes and humor us. We gave her the money to pay for our bill and included extra bills and told her we did not need any change back. She then returns back telling us that we overpaid and returned to us the change as we insisted to keep it but she gave us back the extra money we gave her. We then get up and leave from the table. The server thought that we had all left the IHOP and went over to the young girl at the cashier desk to gossip about myself and other people I was with. The server did not notice that I was in the lobby area (indoors near the cashier table) waiting for the people I was with to return from the restroom. The moment she realized she was speaking badly in front of one of the customers was the moment she stopped her gossiping and went to the back towards the kitchen. It was highly unprofessional to be gossiping and not realize a customer is in front of you and also to be gossiping about customers. The whole time we were there we were polite to her say please and thank you regardless of how rude and dry she was being towards us. In the midst of her talking badly about us to the young lady at the cashier table, she herself even said that we were so nice to her. I'm not sure what this servers issue was that day we went to IHOP but surely I nor the rest of the people I was with will be returning. We should have requested for the male server that was serving at the adjacent tables to be our server because he was more hospitable. read more

I was dying for some breakfast for dinner. Hubby loaded our family of 5 into the car and off we went. We ended up paying $60 (after the Kids Eat Free discount was applied) and getting incredibly slow service, no refills on drinks or the unlimited pancakes. Not worth the price tag. I'm sure my husband tipped our server (because he's a good guy), but it took so long for anything to be brought to the table that my kids couldn't handle waiting for our server and I had to take them outside before she even brought boxes. Wanted to take my girls to grab a bite before it got too late in the eve. Saw the ad on tv about their Elf on the Shelf food menu specials. I ordered the Omelette special EOTS with pancakes. My wife got the Breakfast Sampler as she always does and my daughter the plate "I" usually get, the Biscuit & Gravy platter. 3 stars because my omelette was so demented and sloppily made it was not appealing to consume. I ate about a 1/4 and my wife shared her's with me. Whom ever prepared my omelette did not know how to follow directions because my omelette was as thin as a crepe the filling was undercooked as well as the bits of ham. The gravy poured atop the omelette taste like sour cream or vice versa didn't know what that thick liquid was. The cheese, well lets just say the cheese was sprinkled around the omelette all over the plate and barely on top. Its usually good give or take when we come. I think the Chef that cook's the best should always be working. Coffee is always the goodest here, warm and beautiful aroma. So for now stay away from the omelette the rest of the EOTS specials look good though. Oh by the way my Omelette did not look like the one in the womans photo with all that meat on top. I've been coming Here for years and can not believe what's happened to this place!! Let's just start with how dirty and not very sanitary it is now. The water pitchers are disgusting and the tables and chairs are not clean. The service is awful. Very low staff and the one waiter they had was coughing and touching money wIthout washing his hands when he would handle our food and others. He was all by himself and they weren't busy! Our food sat up on the counter for 15 mins as he struggled to take payments from customers and seating people all at the same time. He reheated my pancakes in the microwave and yet my pancakes were barely warm. What was more disturbing is he dropped an icing bottle on a plate of food and it rolled over the entire plate. He still gave that plate of food to a woman that ordered. I will never return to this location! read more

Finally seated, it took another hour to get our food. When it arrived EVERY order was cold or like warm. Other parties same size as ours came and went. We did not order anything complicated or special. The manager reviewed the cameras and confirmed my concerns and proceeded to take a chunk off our bill. We like coming to this Ihop over the one in Palmdale. It is always clean and the staff is always so nice. My son is two and potty trained so we know where every bathroom is everywhere we go. I think the other reviewer is talking about a different Ihop maybe the one closer to the freeway. The one is in the Rosedale center a good distance from the freeway. read more

(Poor service) (sad diner food) Came in at 11:15 to an empty front, maybe 4 groups in the dining area. The waitress who apparently is busser,hostess, & waitress told us it'd "be a while" while cashing out patrons & ignoring me husband & I as well as a buildup of 2 more groups of customers. 15minutes later she seats us down & were avoided (in every way including eye contact) for about another 15 minutes until she takes our drinks down. At one point she even yelled at an asian man who hardly spoke English that he "can't sit wherever you want can't you see I'm cleaning? You have to go to the waiting room" when he said "a smile would be nice" she responds with "well you don't have to wait" insisting he leave & he does. Everyone in the dining area is witnessing the act in silence & we're appalled by her blunt rudeness. She finally takes down our order & we wait for our food as she argues with other customers about how she's the only one. We get our food, mediocre diner food, whatever it is that convinced me to return is beyond me but beware of the overly salted chicken Parmesan & the lazily rolled crepes. Under deep consideration we agreed we'd tip her 10% (she's that bad) & her continuous complaining about her shift having started an hour ago got my husband to drop the tip to 0%. She realizes this & yells at us that she's pregnant when indeed she is simply overweight & emotional about not having gotten tipped. I come here after work with my friends. For being open late through the night it's always the best place to come through after work when you're hungry and everything else is closed. The gentleman named Cory that works there is by far the best server I have experienced when going. He makes sure everything is always satisfying. He's always happy to see us and knows our order. I was at this location a few days ago and ordered chocolate chip pancakes. About a few bites in I noticed a brown eye lash in my pancakes. I do not have brown hair and knew that was not my eyelash. I told one of the waitresses who found my waitress and told her about the eyelash. My waitress disclosed to me that this was the second time it had happened today and she would get me a new plate of pancakes. At this point I had lost my appetite and just wanted to leave. The waitress came back and gave me the new pancakes, but I ate a few bites and told her I had lost my appetite and the fact it had happened earlier on made me sick. She realized she messed up and went on to tell me the first incident seemed deliberate by the customer since no one had blond hair that worked at IHOP. I thought that was inappropriate for the waitress to disclose to her customers. Overall, I will never come back to this IHOP. The staff is rude and disrespectful towards customers and I think its gross that the people making the food have shedding hair everywhere. read more
