Finally a waiter 1 gives me a table, but no menu (I didn't really need the menu, but that's not the point)... when he brings me the menu I tell him I'm ready to order. His response was that the girl cleaning the table will take my order. Girl continues to clean the table, as soon as she was done I thought she would come to me to take my order, instead she starts cleaning another table. After having somebody from management reach out to apologize, I was expecting things to improve on my next visit. Unfortunately things have gotten worse. After being seated, we didn't receive ANY service for almost 20 minutes (we had to waive down another server to take our order). We then proceeded to have a meal plagued with flaws ranging from giving us the wrong food and drinks, to having one person receive some of their food, while the rest of our group was given a plate of hash browns. What should have been a 30 minute meal turned into almost 2 hours, solely due to an absentee server and an absurd amount of mistakes. It got to a point where we spoke to the manager about the lack of care and effort, and he did offer a discount on our meal, but quite frankly the look on his face was a clear representation of the motto at this IHOP - they simply don't care, nor are they willing to try and care. read more

Ordered the scramble in the photo and asked if i could add turkey sausage INSIDE the scramble, the waiter said no problem! The photo represents how it's supposed to look and has always looked when I've gotten it at other locations. What i received was regular old scrambled eggs, cheese on top that was NOT melted just sitting on top cold. A SIDE of avocado(supposed to be on top), NO SALSA at all, and NO tortilla!(comes with choice of pancakes or tortilla). Just scrambled eggs and potatoes basically. As for the turkey sausage, the cook and waiter were arguing in Spanish(to their surprise i understood) about the sausage not being in the "scramble", and whether i ordered 2 or 4(the waiter was right, i ordered 4.) My friend and i were the only people besides one couple who had just finished up in the restaurant, how could my order be wrong when you're only cooking for one table?! It's not like they confused it with someone else's! so i interjected and told him it was fine to just bring it on the side. Along with my missing salsa and tortilla. Tortilla finally arrives after the sausage and salsa, covered in brown grease i assume from where they cook meat, and i just left it on the table. I was over it all! The smell of old dirty carpet at our corner booth caused us to move tables hoping it was just that they hadn't cleaned in the corner in a while, silverware was filthy, oj was warm. I'm on an IHOP roll. Been here only once. My usual go-to IHOP was in Santa Monica in a Best Western Hotel but it closed down and has been replaced by a pricey diner called Rudy and Hudson. (Which I just learned also closed down.) But that Santa Monica IHOP was such a find. Although it was not huge there were always seats available when we visited there. And we visited during peak hours (Sunday or Saturday brunches). In addition, parking was free. And it was self parking to boot. (I don't really care for valet.) And I never wrote a review for that because I wanted to keep it a secret. So it closed down. I considered that karma. So now I plan to write whatever nice find I find. So back to this IHOP, this is not as good as the Santa Monica IHOP. The reason was because parking is not easy. When we went there on a Sunday around noon, there was a valet stand but it was not open yet. So I had to drive around to look for parking. Other than that, this place has many tables and we were seated right away. Food was good and so was the service. read more

Damn you science, Damn you!!! i forgot how absolutely delicious pancakes are. i hadn't eaten pancakes in, oh, i don't know, 10 years? we intended on going to the Free Grand Slam day at Denny's, but, of course, the lines were out the door! this IHOP is on the backside of our street, so, we IHOP'd over. i had never been to an IHOP in my life. always been a Denny's man. i was pleasantly surprised by the amazingly friendly employees here. from the girl that sat us, to the dude that waited on us. smiley and cordial. impressive. we ordered the basic, 2 pancakes, 2 sausage, 2 eggs and hash browns. very decent prices. the syrups available at our disposal were overwhelming my senses. i forgot how absolutely delicious pancakes are. warm, buttery and the sweetness of the syrup, damnit. i started with the strawberry, but ultimately, i had to finish with old faithful, maple. i had to slow my roll and allow the pancakes to coat my gums. i forgot how absolutely delicious pancakes are. the saltiness of the sausage compliments the sweet pancakes wonderfully. my sunnyside up eggs were cooked to perfection. the hashbrowns were crispy. the server was on top of everything. i had a really good experience here. when i feel like like running 3 miles again to burn these calories, i will surely come back. read more

I'm not a fan of chain places. I have been to this IHOP a few times in the past few months for an early morning breakfast, after dropping off family to the airport. The tables are sticky, but that happens at all IHOPs. The servers are all nice and pretty attentive. Food is consistent in quality. Strangely enough, the food looks like the menu pictures, unlike some places. (I'm looking at you, Denny's.) I'm not a pancake person. I eat them maybe once every 2 years. I got some the other day and they were light and fluffy. Just the butter on them alone was enough. I added a little smidge of syrup and they were even better. The cream cheese crepes were a little too sweet for my tastes. The iced tea is just ok. I always forget that. The thing that always catches me off guard is the music that plays at 5:15am. Every time I've been in there, at that time, I'm met by an eclectic mix of 80s music. You'll hear some British bands like Kajagoogoo, OMD, Madness and that will all be followed by 80s dance music hits. I find myself singing along to songs that I haven't heard since I was a kid. I've been prompted to do internet searches for songs, after eating breakfast there. Great for breakfast. Never too busy. Strange parking lot. You'll see what I mean, when you pull in. read more

This location recently expanded. That's great - less of a wait to get seated, but I'm not sure they have adequately increased the staff to accommodate the extra space. We waited about 10 minutes after we sat down before flagging down a server who wasn't ours. Ours finally came and while she was very pleasant, it took her a lot of time to get our drinks and we had to ask twice for refills of water, as well as for utensils after our food arrived. As for the food - the scramble I ordered had slimey cheese and the pancakes were not thoroughly cooked. My daughter was not impressed with hers either. After we left, we decided that next time the desire to go to IHOP struck us, we should remember this experience and go someplace else. read more

We stopped in here this past Saturday. We had a really late start to our day, so we went for breakfast around 1pm. The restaurant was about half filled at that time and luckily we got a parking space in the small lot. I am mostly writing this review because I wanted to recognize the excellent waitress that took care of us. Georgina was the best, she was polite, upbeat and checked back on us for refills. I have lived in Venice all my life, and this is the first time I've been to this particular Ihop. The best thing about Ihop, IMO, is the carafe of coffee they bring to the table. My mom and I came here after our doctor visits where we had to do that whole fasting bloodwork thing, so we were hungry! We both ordered the breakfast special that gets you 2-eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns, and two pancakes. I was kind of surprised that the pancakes didn't have to be plain buttermilk - you can get the fruity ones, too. As far as the food goes, it was just okay. Maybe we've been spoiled by our usual post-doctor breakfast stop (Norms), but the portions seemed kind of small. Not that it doesn't fill you up. It does. It just feels like for $11.00, Norms is a bit of a better deal. Also, I felt like the pancake syrups were kind of flavorless. Our server, however, was great. I wish I had kept the receipt with her name, she was awesome. It was very busy for a weekday, and she was hustling. Even though my mom got decaf coffee, it was strong for her (she basically likes coffee-flavored-water), so the server brought her some hot water to dilute it. When she asked for another cup of hot water, she got a little tea pot of hot water. Our server made sure to check on us, brought us fresh creamers, took away the empties, refilled the sugar, and just kept us in check in general. Nicely done. IHOP never lets down when you want breakfast or just some delicious pancakes. You can get breakfast for dinner, it doesn't matter. The food is actually well cooked! Nothing was rubbery or rock hard like a brick. Pancakes were fluffy and delicious! I didn't care too much for the French toast but the pancakes really hit the spot! Hash browns were crispy on the outsides and soft on the inside with a beautiful brown color. Eggs were perfectly salted and cooked. Bacon was crispy as it should be! The only thing I can ding this location for was quality of service. It was slightly slow as some of the wait stuff would walk past you quickly which did not allow you to grab their attention if you needed something. It would take several passes from the wait staff at times before you got someone's attention. Overall, extremely nice wait staff and they did their best! I was denied to use the mens bathroom as a man because an Ihop employee was cleaning it...she told me a five min wait...but this led to ten min and then she rudly said it would be done when she was done...she could not go out for 30 seconds for me to pee...Are you kidding me....Ok Food...Waiting longer than other busier Ihops....this sucked... read more

Let me just start off by saying IHOP is one of those places you don't expect much from, but do expect to feel over stuffed and remoseful afterwards. So the very least, what they can do is offer decent service. On my first and last visit, this establishment sadly lived up to my lowered expectations. Upon arrival, late morning (mind you outside of peak rush hour) the boyfriend and I checked in with the hostess who said it would be just a moment before they cleared the table. After us walks in three other couples, who were immediately seated! We politely checked back in with the hostess to check on our seating status and with a bothered attitude said "lemme check" and walked away. She returns to her post, gives no status update, and another couple walks in are seated right away! As our tummys start to grumble and impatience starts to rise, the manager walks by, we explain we've been waiting and have waited several others get seated before us, he apologizes, then seats us immediately (ok, partial save there). When it came to food... My entree came with soup, which when served was luke warm at best. The country fried steak I ordered was swimming in it's grease. To add insult to injury, it wasn't even that cheap! On the plus side, they do offer a small lot with free parking, but be prepared to exit through your trunk if you have anything other than a Fiat, because those spaces are tight. So the moral of stories here, kids, is buyer beware or at least remember why it's been so long since you've visited last. read more

Along with stuffed French toast and Nutella crepes.... EVERYTHING was delicious! My boyfriend and I came to eat here twice. The first time was fine. Classic IHOP. Decent food and nice servers. The second time - CRICKETS. I kept hearing crickets and looking around, but I could never find it. It would stop when I would move the chair around so I figured it had to be somewhere it could see me. It was so loud that it was creeping me out and my boyfriend and I switched sides of the table. Then he ran his hand along the wooden divider half way up the wall and pushed on it. Afterwards, a HUGE cricket came out! We ended up stepping on it to kill it. And then asking to move. We let the server know and asked to switch tables. She handled the situation very well. The restaurant was super busy that day and she had a big party to take care of. We didn't want them to sit another party at the cricket table so we ended up letting the manager himself know. He said he would take care of it. After 20-30 minutes he still didn't even come to check the table out. TERRIBLE. Always there when you need it. Open 24 hours, which is amazing when you are drinking at the bars along Lincoln. Staff is spread out but does a decent job at making sure all the tables are handled eventually. At a busy place like this with high table turnovers you have to cut some slack to the limited waitstaff on graveyard shifts. We had to wait a while to have someone come up to our table to order drinks. Then it was another wait to get our orders. Then it took a really long time to get our orders. Then half the table got their orders while the other half waited ten minutes get theirs. Then one order took another ten minutes to arrive, so this person got their food a full thirty minutes after being seated. Then there were missing items and some orders looked like they were sitting under a heat lamp waiting to be served. And it was not busy. Apparently, you may need to hustle the wait staff preemptively to get what you expect here. read more

I came here on a busy Saturday morning. They were swamped, there was a 45 minute wait although we only waited 15 minutes being that the place is huge and the workers work efficiently. We sat down and miscommunication happen between me and the server. She thought I was being helped but I thought she said I'll be with you in one moment. I shook my head yes and she never came back. Another server approached us 3 minutes later and asked if we are being helped, I said no and she was very apologetic and took our order. You could tell she has experience and very observant. She continuously follow up with us, she cared. The server that I miscommunicated with was apologetic as well although she passed our table three times, with nothing on the table don't know why she didn't come back and asked us what happened.That's besides the point. The servers, food Runners, management are a well-oiled machine. You can tell they have camaraderie, that management gets along with their staff, you could just tell that this IHOP is a well-oiled machine and runs like clockwork. Many of our life decisions have sometimes embarrassingly, most times stupidly, and all times randomly, taken place at Marina del Rey's IHOP over the years: whether or not to move, how to break up with a clingy or fairweather friend, whether or not to have children, how to deal with our more troublesome in-laws, and how to navigate a sometimes challenging marriage. We've since moved away from the area, but I still receive IHOP's Revolution emails for the same location we used to frequent on Lincoln. Whenever one or both of us need to caffeine and carb up a bit to keep going a little longer through the night, we will head back for one more pancake binge. Copycat recipes for IHOP's pancakes abound, and I think they even have a boxed mix in stores, but when the only thing still remotely awake in your entire body is a rumbling stomach, it's really so much easier to just GO to the pancakes! What I love best about this IHOP is how it has managed to avoid huge changes for the most part. People and menu items have come and gone, but the lights remain jarringly bright, coffee is always acidic, and patrons and staff may never stop seeming perpetually out of their element. So long as we stick to the pancake menu, there are rarely any surprises here. IHOP's pancakes can be relied upon to turn out chemically fluffy and artificially tasty every time, with a line of syrups to choose from that pretty much guarantee heady new heights of diabetes mellitus immediately upon consumption. Clearly, I'm biased and a fan, if mainly for sentimental reasons. We do, however, miss seeing Hector, one staff member at IHOP we managed (or cared enough) to get on first name basis with. He used to take every coupon I'd whip out at the register, a coupon for dinner when we had breakfast, coupons from other IHOP locations, coupons past their expiry dates, or coupons with no perceivable code or expiry date at all. That kind of all-encompassing coupon acceptance earned Hector our deepest appreciation and ensures that, no matter where he has moved on to, he will never be forgotten! read more

What I noticed about this roomy, staid IHOP branch on a Saturday evening (just too much of a whirlwind week to paint the town red) was: It's a Wi-Fi Wonderland. Many patrons plug their laptops into AC and use this as a library/snack bar. A public library should be so quiet inside as this IHOP. The hostess and waitress were charming and capable, as was the busboy. Others in my party were happy with their orders. Mine was breakfast--bone-in ham steak, eggs over medium, hash browns and pancakes both well-done. Done-est item served was the ham steak. Oh, well. Broke my cardinal rule, and to accommodate the wishes of a co-diner, sat in a booth about 20 feet from the bathrooms, and across from the busboy's station. The air seemed a little funky, kind of like a hint of damp carpeting, and the men's room seemed especially popular. But the restroom doors self-closed quickly and appeared to form a tight seal. Also noticed that IHOP accepts competitors' coupons, and know for a fact that Denny's' are usually better, not limiting the bogo entree to $8. Can't say this place is better than any of the Denny's, or other IHOPs, I've visited. It just barely squeaks into three-stardom. read more
