I was staying at the Hilton by the convention center and wanted breakfast. IJava had fantastic reviews so I was excited to try it out. I was disappointed. The location is good enough. Across the freeway from the hotel, just outside of downtown in a mainly residential neighborhood. The cafe is in a small building shared with a salon of some sort of I recall correctly. You order at a counter which went fine. I got the Mexicali plate. (They offer all burritos as a plate as well). It wasn't very good, which is why the three stars. I almost put two but wanted to give benefit of the doubt. The presentation was a bit sloppy and careless.. not a big deal at a cafe. The beans were very one note and bland. Same with the potatoes. The eggs were a bit off imo.. not sure if it was the freshness or the pan or the oil or whatever.. but just tasted a bit wrong. The avocados were really good. Cream sauce stuff was fairly bland. Slightly below a Denny's quality breakfast. I also got black coffee. The bill was $14.97. Not bad but far from great. read more

**10/28/20 DINE IN REVIEW** It has been very difficult finding a coffee shop (or any place really) to sit and do work. I'm SO HAPPY to have found this place. Here's why! They offer safe inside seating (12 person capacity) Wide variety of beverages and food Reasonable pricing Comfortable & clean tables WITH outlets :) Last but not least, great customer service! When we arrived, we pulled into their 2 space parking area - luckily, we parked in one! Right next to the parking space is additional tables and seats with a tent for cover/shade. We walked into the indoor space and checked in with the person working, confirming if we could sit inside. We just needed to fill out a form that stated we were not sick or experiencing any symptoms of COVID (name, phone #, email). Once that was set, we picked out table and ordered our drinks at the register. We just ordered an iced black tea and thai tea, which was good! I'm actually looking forward to returning to try their food :) The ONLY thing that is stopping me from adding that 5th star is the fact that they close at 2pm. I'm not sure if this is their normal closing time or if it's due to COVID. Either way, I'm bummed because it's such an amazing spot! My only wish is that we could enjoy it longer. I am from east coast and was in San Jose for the weekend. With much confidence, I can say pancake with blueberry pulp is by far the best pan cake I have had anywhere. Their homemade baguette is soft, fluffy, and melts as soon as you take a bite. That is a magic to their recipe. I also got Pistachio coffee which left a good flavor of coffee for me. Jim and his associates are friendly and welcoming hosts with high standards for quality of food and service. The ambiance of the cafe is quaint to have a relaxing morning for a either a quick meeting, meetup a friend, or just have a casual conversation with your partner. I found iJava Cafe on Yelp and saw that they had an easy, user-friendly online ordering system that allowed for scheduling advanced orders. What was great about the online ordering form, by the way, was how customizable it was. They really had all the options figured out. I placed my order for an 8am pickup, which was when they opened. I arrived at iJava Cafe at 8am, and the employees were finishing up with the final touches of fully opening to the public. Everyone warmly greeted me and told me to just come right on in. I was stoked to find that my order was just freshly made and ready to go. I often find myself waiting excessively at other places even if I place my order in advance, so I was very appreciative of iJava Cafe's impeccable timing. My food and drink were great. I got the short rib burrito that consisted of braised short rib, spinach, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, potatoes and chipotle cream wrapped in a spinach tortilla. The burrito was loaded, which was what I wanted, and it had a nice flavor from the chipotle cream. The only thing was that I didn't care much for the sauteed baby spinach, so I'll have it removed for next time. I particularly loved the pistachio latte! This coffee shop is local favorite! They've got healthy options for lunch and a decent selection of smoothies along with teas and coffees. The staff are attentive and happy to help with anything you may need! They also do substitutions for those with vegetarian or vegan needs and the WiFi is fast! 1. Initial taste and flavor of the açaí bowl was great 2. However my boyfriend and I received 2 half dollar scoops of açaí and the rest of the bowl comprised of fruit and 80% yogurt. Personally, I've never received yogurt in an açaí bowl. But why was my bowl more of a parfait with less than 10% açaí? I ordered delivery from iJava Cafe, and got a vegetarian breakfast burrito with an almond milk pistachio latte, since I saw such great reviews for the pistachio latte on Yelp. Whenever I order to-go, the food isn't always the best (it's cold or doesn't taste as fresh), but this place is amazing! Albeit, it's a little bit on the pricey side (ended up paying around $15) but it's actually worth it since it was a well made burrito and latte. You definitely have to try the pistachio latte since it has real bits of pistachio in it and its perfectly sweetened. The breakfast burrito was chocked full of eggs, spinach, peppers, cheese, and potatoes, I was so full and so happy by the end of it. Cute little café that is walking distance from the Discovery Museum which is nice. I loooooved my pistachio latte. The only other place I've had one before was in SF and this one was better. They grind the pistachios here themselves, so it's not some oversweetened syrup base. Woohoo! Also had a fresh-squeezed OJ. The breakfast burrito we had was toasty and tasty. The avocado toast was disappointing though--it looked and tasted like old packaged guacamole you get at the grocery store.
