Me and my boyfriend came here for a date night and we seriously did not have one complaint about the place. The food was delicious. We had the burata, the meatballs AND the clams as an appetizer. I can't even pick one over the other. The bucatini and the clam linguini were our entrees and I can't imagine anyone not enjoying them!! They are such a new restaurant and they did not disappoint. Our server Harrison was outstanding, and a special recognition goes to the server, Jay, who was also stopping by our table frequently to check up on us as well. Bad service experience along with ok food. We show up at 6:58 pm with a 7:00 pm reservation. After standing at the hostess station for 13 minutes and laughing with a couple of people from NY about the lack of a hostess I finally ask 1 of the 3 bar personnel, is this a self seat restaurant? Of course at that point an employee shows up and ask how may I help. Well 10 minutes later we sit down with a couple of minutes passing a waitress shows up and asks, filtered water or sparkling water. I'm going to pass on all the additional BS, like no introduction to menu or specials, asked for a wine som​me​lier and was informed they didn't have one. Anyway the food is subpar with exception of the grilled octopus. Meatballs dry, bucatini dry and cold, small halibut portion with over powering sauce. Probably no big deal but my amazement was we were seated where we could view servers in and out of kitchen, I was amazed how it seamed to be a eating fest at the doorway for all the servers. This place probably survives off the hotel that it occupies. Fort Worth has much better places to spend $400.00 then IL Modo. WE'll NEVER RETURN. read more

Nice vibe, very sophisticated. The menu was streamlined however all the options look well thought out. The meatball appetizer is an excellent start, great flavor and nice portion. The bucatini took a long time to come out but was worth the wait. It was both savory and satisfying. My only disappointment was what they charge for bread to help soak up the excellent sauce. It seemed excessive compared to the rest of the menu. It's like charging for ice to accompany a lemonade. It definitely took away one star from my review. Delicious, al dente, and freshly made Italian food in Fort Worth, Texas! I'm originally from Northern New Jersey and grew up eating delicious, amazing Italian food. Il Modo is as close as they come to freshly made Italian food outside of NYC and New Jersey. Burrata was excellent, full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The Calamari was basic calamari...neither excellent nor bad. Spaghetti and Bucatini pasta dishes were perfectly al dente, delicious, and celebrated traditional Italian flavors with vigor. Hallelujah! We've already booked two additional dinners at Il Modo and will take friends and family alike. Please turn down the lights! After visiting the different regions of Italy going to Italian restaurants in the states is never my #1 option.....unless they have fresh pasta made in-house which makes this Italian restaurant definitely stand out. They don't have a huge menu which implies the food will be nothing less than perfectly prepared and they did just that. I was here on a business trip and staying in the attached hotel which is another awesome and brand new spot so the convenient location was a bonus. I ordered the spaghetti dish and meatballs that were listed as an appetizer. The portions were appropriate and the prices I thought were fair and the only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars was because I ordered my meal to go and the meatballs would have tasted better with more Sunday gravy. read more

I've been to this establishment several times. There is NO CONSISTENCY! The first time I went for brunch it was great. I've been back twice for dinner now and it was subpar. How do you mess up a Margherita pizza? My date said the pasta was undercooked. At this point I'll find another restaurant, there are plenty downtown and new ones opening every day. read more

When I say the food is incredible here. It's an understatement. I'm originally from north Jersey with regular access to Brooklyn and staten island where I could get some of the best Italian food around on a daily basis. This is the first Italian restaurant since I moved to Texas that tasted like the east. The food was incredible from beginning to end. The meatballs and burrata to start with perfect. For dinner my wife had the linguini with clams and I had the Bucatini all cooked to perfection. I wish I had bread to clean up the plate of every last bit of the gravy (sauce). Overall I would give it a good. The service was excellent from the of the host to our server. The staters where good, but not amazing. At nearly $25 each I would expect them to be more on the amazing side. The main courses were also good but not amazing. They are modestly priced. The Tiramisu was again good but not amazing (I think Grimaldi's has better). For a meal that was in excess of $300 for 5 of us with the overall value was just fair. I understand that this place is rate the best Italian in FW. I am very particular when it comes to Italian being born in NYC and fortunate enough to travel. I understand the restaurant situation in FW is not as evolved as Dallas but I would say if you can make the drive to Dallas do so. If you want Italian and the best value then look elsewhere. This was a birthday celebration for wife and our 3 kids. We did have a great time and that is priceless. In hindsight I would always hope for better food quality to price ratio. Called, spoke to hotel manager E Colon (they are the Kimpton Harper hotel restaurant) sent email with receipt per his requestand he said he would take care of it, never heard back. So to start, our waiter/waitress told us she knew little about cocktails and little about wine when I asked her about a drink in their cocktail list...for what appears to be a fine dining Italian restaurant...I feel the staff should know their menus well...especially for how small of a menu they have.... We ordered the mussels and meatballs to start...the mussels were good and one of the only things worthy of a star. The meatballs were ok...no sear to the outside and they just seemed to be boiled balls of meat....our main courses were linguine w/clams and the garganelli (I ordered this for the wild mushrooms). Both pastas were bland...I was screaming in my best Gordan Ramsay voice..."salt the water"...I say this only because both dishes were very bland and did not have much flavor at all.... I would have given 5 stars, although it really felt more like a 3.5 star experience simply because the front of the house lacks professionalism. My boyfriend and I arrived yesterday at 5pm on the dot, their opening time, since we were in the area and really craving some Italian for late lunch/early dinner. He was boarding a flight back out of state later that evening. We didn't think we would need a reservation seeming as we arrived during opening time. Once we requested to be seated, the front of house actually seriously suggested we both be sat at the bar, even though the rest of the restaurant was literally empty--no one else was there (yet) besides us. My boyfriend and I laughed. I asked her if we could sit at a table, and she said not without a reservation, very coldly. My boyfriend thought the encounter to be rude, so we were just about to head back out to find another restaurant when whom appears to be her supervisor came to the booth and had a minor discussion with her about sitting us down, until eventually we were sat down. The moment felt a little humiliating seeming as the waiters/waitresses were just staring because they just began their shifts so they weren't really waiting tables yet. Anyway, we sat. Our waitresses were a complete 360 from the earlier rude encounter and made us feel very pleased with the service, explaining the menu and how they are just a brand new restaurant. I ordered the linguine with clams, boyfriend ordered the amatriciana, and we had calamari as an app, as well as tiramisu for dessert. All in all, the food tasted excellent and al dente, which is key at any authentic Italian restaurant (I'm a pasta fanatic, I love a good pasta). As we were finishing up our dining, another couple walked in -- without reservation -- also asking to be sat down, with the front of house woman coldly also telling them she could not sit them down without a reservation, even though again, at this point it was only me and my boyfriend and another couple sitting at the far end of the restaurant in this whole restaurant. At the end her manager had to stay in the front of the house with her because she was very obliviously driving away potential clients. Ultimate review: the food was delicious, waitress' service was pleasant, but if you guys want to gather repeat customers and drive business even higher, I would suggest getting rid of your front of house, placing her in another position, and replacing her with someone a little more competent for the role. read more

So to start on a good note, I do think by and large the food is pretty good. Fresh pasta is well made and the sides were fresh and flavorful. The decor is also really nice, comfortable and welcoming. That being said I still don't think we'll be back. When we arrived at 1pm on a Sunday there was almost no one else there. We brought our 2 young kids and asked if they had a kids menu. They didn't which was totally fine and the waiter recommended we get a couple of pastas and sides and do it family style. I think perhaps that was the wrong recommendation because when the food arrived we were pretty gobsmacked by how small the pasta portions in particular were. For the kids we ordered a bowl of buttered pasta. There was maybe a cup/cup and a half of plain noodles and it ended up costing $20! Between my husband, myself and our 3 and 5 year old we spent over $100, without ordering any alcohol, and still left feeling hungry. We are people who don't mind spending money on good food but for what we got that was ridiculous. To be completely honest, I don't think I even would have minded the total cost so much had they not charged $20 for that cup of plain pasta for the kids. It just didn't sit right. So all in all I think Il Modo is good if you're planning a date night and craving pasta. I definitely would not recommend bringing your family or kids there and for the price I think you can get better food nearby. read more

This was our second experience dining with iL Modo. We were on time for our 6:30pm reservation and waited over 25 mins for our server to greet us and take a drink order. We had to ask other severs to fill our water glasses and search for our server for another round of drinks. By this time I was already annoyed with this dinner. We ordered the shrimp appetizer followed by the spaghetti and porterhouse steak with a side of potatoes. Our main course did not come until after 8pm. The steak was cooked perfectly, however the potatoes were a total waste. They were over cooked, dry and flavorless. As this was a Valentine's dinner I tried to make this a positive experience but the service was so poor it was unbearable. I ordered dessert, tiramisu, as this is my all time favorites. They were out of tiramisu. I asked for one more glass of wine, however another 15-20 minutes later I was as totally over the wine and iL Modo. I canceled the wine and asked for the check. Our tab was just shy of $350. We left with a below average experience with a well above average dinner for two. read more

The waitress was nice and gave us recommendations. Food and wine was great! We had the grilled oysters which was our favorite appetizer and the pastas were just mmmm good!
