Crispy thin crust pizza. Basic toppings and cheese, but they make a pretty descent pizza. The salad is pretty rudamentary (pretty much just a wedge of iceberg lettuce, a little cabbage and carrot shavings with a side of dressing). Some of the fountain sodas had no concentrate in them, so test before you get a drink. There is no decore or atmosphere to the place. It is pretty utalitarian. Seevice is basic but fine. read more

I didn't know what to expect when a local recommended this STL pizza spot. The cashier was friendly and offered suggestions when we asked. We ended up ordering the Honey Trap pizza. It arrived hot and fresh, and wow it definitely brought the heat, much more hot than honey. Later, I realized they use extra hot honey sauce, which explained the intense spice level. It was so spicy that I honestly can't rate the pizza itself. The restaurant was a nice size, decorated well, and appeared fairly clean, although the floor was a bit sticky as we made our way to our table. We were told by locals that this was the chain restaurant to visit that was solid for St. Louis style pizza and toasted raviolis. The cashier was extremely nice and helped us pick out what the called the "Great Taste of St. Louis" special that wasn't up on the menu but included a large two topping pizza, six toasted raviolis, four cinnimos, and ten provel bites for about $28. I will say provel cheese was surprising. I love cheese and the provel bites were good but on a pizza, was not my favorite but it was a solidly put together pizza. We did half Hawaiian and half mushroom and black olive and the thin crust wasn't bad but we know that we are not huge fans of St. Louis style pizza now mostly because of the flavor profile. The toasted raviolis were delicious. One of the main reasons we came in and glad we did. And so were the cinnimos. Would have never ordered those separately but I'm so glad we got them! Appreciated that they had free parking available even though understanding what was the restaurant and what was the warehouse at this location took us a second to figure out as non-locals. Imo's was a must-visit while in St. Louis after hearing so much about the famous Provel cheese, and I'm glad I made the stop. We started with the toasted ravioli based on an employee recommendation. It was decent, but a little over-"toasted" for my taste, so that was probably the least impressive part of the meal. The star of the visit was the 14" ALL Meat pizza. The St. Louis-style square cut was fun to try, and the thin crust was crispy and loaded with toppings. The pizza was flavorful, unique, and definitely lived up to the hype. If you love thin crust pizza, Imo's is absolutely worth a visit--especially if you find yourself in St. Louis. It feels like one of those local food experiences you have to try at least once. Inside, the restaurant was clean and comfortable, including very clean restrooms, which I always appreciate. Bonus points for Pepsi products at the drink machine. Who doesn't love a good Mountain Dew. The dining room also had some unexpected entertainment--one customer's back-and-forth with the manager ended with her getting a "free" salad just to quiet things down, which definitely added some local flavor to the experience. read more

If you enjoy thin-crust (tavern style) pizza, definitely come here and give this place a try. I'm surprised to see that they have such low ratings, but my husband and I enjoyed our meal. We ordered a pie with pepperoni and black olives, toasted ravioli (a local favorite, or so I've heard), and some bbq wings. I didn't eat the wings, so I can't tell you about them, but the pizza was cheesy with a crispy crust, and the ravioli was crisp and crunchy (but not too crunchy) as well. The filling to fried pasta ratio was proportionate and the marinara dipping sauce set it off. Very casual, quick dining experience. The service was adequate and efficient. It's fine. EVERYONE told me I needed to try this signature STL pizza place when in town. It is a good deal. A lunch special of pizza, salad and soda is reasonably priced. The pizza was fine. Honestly, it was if you made matzoh pizza using cheddar cheese and a sweet but bland tomato sauce. We came here because we thought it was a local place, but I actually started in St. Louis but has become a huge chain with over 100 locations. The pizza is unique with an extremely thin crust and they use Provel Cheese instead of traditional mozzarella. This is a good tasting, different take on the pizza we're all used to. The based lasagna was really good. The service we had sucked, to put it nicely. I would rate the pizza a 4 out of 5 and the service a 2 out of 10. A St. Louis staple. My husband and his family RAV about this place. I tried it 10 years ago and I have to agree, if you like rich flavors, melt cheese and super thin crust, this is a place for you. We had the Canadian bacon and olive, garden, toasted ravioli and house salad. The pizza was just as good as I remember. We ate both pies in one sitting. My daughter said it was the best pizza she's ever had, which is saying a lot. The toasted ravioli were a little over cooked this time. Salad was great, crisp lettuce, IMO's Italian dressing is a nice, light, vinaigrette. We ordered ahead from the museum about 40 mins before and only waiting 10 minutes when we got there. This was a recommendation from someone at the hotel where we stayed. We were told it is a St Louis style pizza. Very different than any pizza I have eaten previously. Walked in to the clear Gen Z stare of the front of the house, my receipt says Zakyia. We ordered a pizza, salad, and a sandwich. I asked her if the creamy garlic dressing was any good, and she scoffed at the idea of eating there herself. I asked to get cups for water, but was informed they only sell fountain drinks. That's okay.. we brought our water bottles. Looked over at the soda machine and saw a water function. After filling my water bottle with water, I was scolded "for going against policy and filling my water with their water".... But they wouldn't give me a cup to get water either. So unless you're a soda drinker or come prepared with a full water bottle, I wouldn't suggest dining in. Pizza was fine. Salad was basic and creamy garlic was decently good. When I visit cities, I always try to find the food that city is known for. Two of the things St. Louis is known for happens to be at Imo's Pizza, which everybody and their mom said I had to try. I called the restaurant and they were super friendly and gave great suggestions. St. Louis pizza is definitely a class of its own. The style that's loved around these parts is thin crust, with provel cheese. Provel is a mix of Swiss, white cheddar and provolone. We ordered an XL All Meat along with another St. Louis staple, toasted ravioli. The pizza arrived on time, with a courteous call from the driver saying he left it with the front desk. Just talking through the lobby, we had 3 different parties asking if I got Imo's and that I was in for a real treat. The store also threw in a bunch of plates and napkins which gave them extra brownie points in my book. I am so glad we went with one pizza because this thing was massive, not only in length, but also in weight. They did not skimp on toppings whatsoever. The crust was thin, but had just enough thickness to support the toppings. The provel was definitely different, but not in a horrible way. It was buttery and melty, but also had hints of smokiness. Do I prefer it over mozzarella? I would have to try a few other places before I say yes to that. The toasted ravioli was amazing. Apparently it is award winning at Imo's and I can see why. We were told by locals that this is THE place to go for St. Louis pizza. I actually didn't even know that was a thing until about a few weeks earlier and there is a reason it's not more widely known lmao. This is NOT a typical restaurant experience but more like a McDonald's that serves St. Louis pizza. When looking for the place we were going to sample the local pizza, we were almost scared off by the reviews. The problem is that the poor reviews are mostly reflective of St. Louis pizza and not Imo's ability to provide said pizza. We ordered the classic cheese pizza to really get a feel for the original but they offer many specialty pizzas as well with various veggies and/or meats. We were also told that "toasted ravioli" was one of STL's delicacies so we threw in an order of that as well. The toasted ravioli came out first and definitely was toasted and crispy. Their definition of "ravioli" is different than what I consider to be ravioli which is only cheese. Theirs has meat which is unfortunate for vegetarians such as myself. GF ate this and confirms the outside was delicious and crunchy but the inside was "gross" and reminiscent of "chef boyardee". St. Louis pizza is definitely unique. The crust is not leavened so it becomes very crispy, thin, and cracker-like. The sauce had a stronger flavor than usual and the cheese was the pizza version of velveeta. It isn't awful, I don't think it was disgusting, but I can see why nobody outside of St. Louis likes it or makes it. My friend from KC didn't even know St. Louis had a pizza style. It is interesting to try once but you won't find me searching for it on Goldbelly. I think sampling St. Louis pizza to widen one's horizons and maybe develop more of an appreciation for regular pizza if you don't already appreciate it enough. Imo's is the original and they certainly do it right but maybe have a snack or other dinner plans as a plan B. Had to try the local pizza. This location was open so we plugged it in and off we went. This location is next to the factory and the gift shop. Well...if this is their flagship location they have work to do. The staff was lazy about enforcing masks on their customers and they were not professional. Pants sagging off the employees, employees in the kitchen making loud noises and playing on their phones in the eating area. Clearly a supervisor was not on the premises. We were going to eat in but decided against it. The stars were for the food. The toasted ravioli was really good. Filled with meat with a side of sauce that could've been warmer but still good. We ate those in house waiting for our pizza as we decided to get out as more folks came in. The pizza was good! Everyone said, "If you're in St. Louis, you've got to go to Imo's." Simple enough, I thought. I mean, who doesn't love trying local pizza? So the first meal I had when I was in the Lou was Imo's. What makes Imo's, and I suppose all of St. Louis pizza different from say, Chicago or New York is that their crust is a cracker crust. It's crunchy. It's thicker than thin crust but thinner than pan. It's dense and crispy with a slight, very slight hint of chewy. Here at Imo's you order, get your number, wait- a little long in my case and then eventually someone will yell out your number so you can get your food. We had a bbq chicken pizza, which was really good. That St. Louis bbq sauce was so sweet and tangy. The chicken was piled on top of mounds of cheese and that famous crust. We ordered bread sticks as well, because- why not? I love bread. We had our pizza inside the shop, but probably would have been a better idea to take it to go, but as tourists we didn't know these things. The tables weren't really clean. The crowd though was amazing for people watching. There wasn't really service there in terms of waitstaff so you're better off just picking it up or having it delivered (presuming that they do deliver). I will defend Imo's pizza to my grave. I flew toasted ravioli out of state for my wedding. I spent years getting provolone gifted to me at Christmas. I am a hardcore, die hard St. Louis girl. So now you know where I'm coming from when I ask -- Have you ever eaten pasta so terrible it makes you feel sorry for yourself? Baked mostaccioli with meatballs: it's not baked, and they forgot the meatballs. Let me be clearer-- the cheese was baked. But those are boiled noodles. My beloved cheese turned to plastic -- and I put this cheese on my own stuff when I bake pasta, so what did they do to this? Heat lamp? And the sauce-- Can you accept this description with the sadness I am trying to convey? The sauce just tastes *wet*. Damn this is disappointing. I was trying to treat myself.
