I should have reviewed this Imo's location years ago when I use to be a frequent small veggie pizza order-er (I made that word up just now). I was most known for requesting the lunch size veggie after lunch hours and on weekends when it wasn't available lol... I love this location because they never hassled me about this demand but instead obliged. I appreciate how pleasant the employees are. They are very efficient and swift. I just do not get it. --- --- --- I know this is like the worst thing you can ever say to a 314ian, but my friend from the area hyped up toasted raviloi's to me for months, possibly years. He didn't talk about it every day, but it was a part of conversation enough to be firmly engrained in my head when it came time for our St. Louis visit. And let's be clear. STORE BOUGHT RATING: I made dough for Imos in 1977...when I was 12. Always loved it. Prices have gone way up and service/cooking/etc is not as good as it used to be anywhere. That said, I bought 2 frozen pizzas at Schnucks and for half the price it is almost as good tasting as fresh ones are. Double bonus points for someone in marketing/packaging who decided to print the oven temperature and cook time in letters I can read without needed glasses!!! read more

Stopped by for pizza here instead of getting it at the City Museum. Guy at the City Museum said to get pizza anywhere but at the City Museum but also recommended Imo's. Pizza was good and reasonably priced for downtown. We had the BBQ which was fabulous and the Deluxe which was just ok. Friends of ours got the box deal and the ravioli looked great. When my friend told his manager that he was going to St. Louis his manager insisted that we had to try Imo's pizza. Despite there being a location in Kansas City, his manager said that the KC location couldn't compare to the St. Louis one. We stopped by Imo's for dinner before exploring the City Museum, and got the 16 inch deluxe pizza, which comes with came with bacon, bell peppers, mushrooms, and ham. My boyfriend and I thought that the cheese on the pizza was really interesting. It had a liquid consistency, instead of a solid stringy one, but it was delicious nonetheless. However, we did find that this caused the pizza toppings to easily slip off the slices. Another interesting thing about Imo's is that they don't cut their pizza into pie slices, but instead do three cuts horizontally and three cuts vertically, so the slices are rectangular. I actually prefer this over pie type slices since it keeps the slices smaller, so they're easier to handle. I was skeptical that we would finish the entire 16 inch oiza, since it was just me and two others, but my friend insisted on getting it. Surprisingly we were actually able to finish it all before we left. This was probably due to the fact that the pizza was really thin, so it doesn't fill you up as quickly after each slice. By the time we finished though, we were definitely stuffed! The pizza was really flavorful, so I'd come back for sure if I was back in St. Louis. I also think I might have to try the KC location for comparison! read more

St. Louis local pizzeria always on my list when I visit! Due to the pandemic I ordered for delivery. Delivery driver did not wear a mask a BIG no no during a pandemic. The pizza was still the same flavor as I remember the last time I had it. The salad was ok but pretty boring, I think tomato should be added or a Peperoncino. Be sure to try the toasted ravioli especially if you never had it before. IMO's also has a good hot wings, order them extra crispy. read more

The pizza tastes much better than it looks. Better yet it is located close to downtown hotels. The main issue people seem to have with Imos is delivery. I called on a night where it was 6 or 7 degrees outside. DoorDash had wasted an hour and a half of my time and then didn't deliver because of no drivers. I called Imos and the lady explained that they were too backed up to take delivery orders but I could pick up and it would be ready in 20 minutes. She told the truth. I arrived. They have a small parking lot. And my order was ready. The pizza was still warm when I got back to the hotel. It has a nice zesty sauce and the crest was crispy. It's not the best but it's an effective combination of efficiency and location. And it's open late. Give it a try. I think you will be pleased. I'm pretty picky and if it was bad I would not write a review. read more

On my first visit to St. Louis, I wanted to try something I could only really try there and nowhere else. Most food sites consistently put Imo's Pizza at the top of the list. I had never had St. Louis-style pizza before either. Deep fried ravioli was another item that nearly every site recommended. Thankfully, Imo's had both! I really enjoyed the ravioli. Satisfying crunch, delicious meat filling, and great dipping sauce. The pizza also has a nice crunchy thin crust and the meats were really good. This is my fault for ordering such a meat/cheese-heavy pizza, but every bite felt over the top with fattiness. Aside from the food, service was good and it was quiet on the weekday afternoon that I stopped in. Overall a good experience. read more

I am totally digging these earlier reviews from Chicago people complaining that the pizza at Imo's is too thin and the cheese doesn't taste like mozzarella. LOLOLOLOL So, a couple of things: 1) It's NOT mozzarella. It's a cheese called provel. It's a peculiarity to St. Louis. Some people do not like it. Some people think it has an odd smell and when it's melted it looks like orange pizza sauce. I sort of liked it in small amounts (ie not on a whole pizza) the first time I tried it, and the more I've had it since then, the more I've liked it. Some people hate it and always will. In that case, Imo's is not for you, not by fault of Imo's, so giving them 1 star in a review seems dumb. 2) New York and Chicago have their own style of pizza. Other places have their own as well. And St. Louis has its own, which means its pizzas are very thin - a bit thicker than a cracker but maybe half as thick as NY style. There's not a crust that surrounds it to hold onto, you hold it underneath or use a fork (which, contrary to a typical New Yorkers' insistence, would not be the end of the world). The crust tends to be crispy. Again, some people hate it and will never like it. See above. 3) I like the meat lover's and the supreme, but they have several other choices as well as pasta, lasagna, Italian sandwiches and a couple salads. Imo's locations tend to be low maintenance, quick, serve-yourself kind of places. This is not a sit-down, full-service dining experience. It's more like a combination of Five Guys and Fazoli's. 4) This location is in a semi-dicey area off downtown, but it was a Sunday around 11:30 am so it was pretty empty and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. In the end, if you want to be open-minded and aren't a pizza snob (you know who you are), Imo's is worth a try, as it's one of St. Louis' most well known treasures. if it isn't for you, it isn't for you. Several people from St Louis told me that I had to try Imo's. I was skeptical, it didn't even sound particularly good when I heard about it...but I thought, if this is the first thing that anyone from St. Louis will tell me to try, I'll try it. After hearing about Imo's for years, I couldn't pass up a chance to finally try this mystic pizza even if it was at 10am on a freezing December morning before heading to the airport. Their operation was just getting up-and-running for the day, but they had no prob filling my order of a medium one-topping (sausage) pizza. When my pizza arrived it was everything I'd hoped for. Steaming hot Provel cheese still settling on a crispy, thin crust cut into square pieces. As the one sit-in diner at that time, it was oddly comforting to attempt eating an entire pizza by myself before noon. The pizza met my expectations. The cheese is a bit odd and very gooey when right out the oven. I liked it best once it settled and solidified but I have always been a fan of leftover/cold pizza. Imo's is great, and we already knew that but on a trip with 15 volleyball players and coaches, we placed an order for 7 pizzas and a spag/meatballs online. They were here with the food and walked all over our hotel to drop the food where we were eating as a group within 25min of our order when the online estimate was 60-75min. It was explained to me prior to my visit that Saint Louis has a pizza style of its own: Cardboard crust, Provel cheese, sweeter tomato sauce, and cut into squares. I googled "St Louis style pizza" to find a chain of local pizzarias named Imo's. We arrived to an empty restaurant and placed our order to eat in the dining room. There were other customers that came in but took their orders to go. My colleague after tasting the pizza with its cracker thin crust exclaimed it was the best tasting cardboard ever. I've never been big on eating cardboard. I was the kid in elementary school that ate the library paste, a thick liquid adhesive made from flour and water. I didn't eat cardboard when I was little. Eating library paste was only on craft day when constructing projects such as chains of paper rings made from colored paper. The pizzaiolo at Imo's needs to be recognized for his talent or gift of making cardboard taste so good. Eating cardboard pizza at Imo's is my new thing. I also enjoyed how the Provel cheese changed texture through the meal as the pizza cooled resembling library paste bringing a long forgotten taste to the pie. read more

Out of town guest at the Tru by Hilton hotel and ordered online and didn't received what I order although what I ordered online was on the receipt WITH instructions that you ask to put in the "Instruction" box. This is the worst pizza I ever had. Paper thin crust no sauce and taste like they used American cheese. It is St. Louis pizza because it is an embarrassment to Italian Pizza makers. Took a last minute mini roadtrip to St. Louis over the weekend and figured we should try some St. Louis style food, this was the place that was recommended to us. Pizza was definitely different from what we have here in Chicago l, but it was good. The cheese tasted more like a cheese sauce rather than cheese but it complimented all the other flavors. I am in a downtown hotel and they recommended Imos for pizza. I never received my pizza that I paid for online. I called. I had a typo in my phone number which would be irrelevant as the front desk has my number and would have delivered it to me anyway. The delivery person said they left it with the man at the front desk but the front desk only has a woman staffing. The hotel front desk person talked to the manager of IMO's and they would only remake it if I picked it up. It's utility pizza for sure but the provel cheese simple topping if thin sliced pepperoni were a great combination. Their sauce is on the sweet side but is complimented well by the thin flaky crust. This location is close to City Museum and would make a perfect post playground snack. I believe this location also is also where the corporate office is, and is fairly new. read more

What's with the 3 stars? On a visit to STL and a hankering for delicious pizza, IMO's was the city suggestion. Being a Chicago gal, everyone always assumes that all I'll ever eat is deep dish. Negative. While I love it, Chicago makes a pretty mean thin crust pizza and I may love it more. IMO's takes cues from that Chi-town thin crust! We were staying at the Drury Inn by the downtown Convention center for our daughters volleyball tournament St. Patricks Day weekend and we decided to have pizza for the team after the first day of playing. The lady at the hotel desk said Imo's was great and we ordered 12 pizzas . Think of the worst pizza you can ever remember eating and this pizza was still twice as bad ! This is some damn good pizza. "St Louis" style is apparently incredibly thin, crispy crust, and cheddar instead of mozzarella. The pizza at Imo's was very good. The sauce was savory and not too sweet, the cheese delicious and the bacon made it salty and just right. The unique(to me) thin crust made the experience novel.
