We started with the sizzling rice soup, which was warm, comforting, and had a light savory broth that was perfect to start the meal, would definitely get this again. The salt and pepper fried tofu ended up being the star of the night. It was incredibly crispy on the outside, well-seasoned with just the right amount of salt, and easily the best dish we ordered. The Mongolian beef was another winner, with generous, large chunks of tender beef coated in a flavorful sauce. The other dishes were a bit more mixed. The spicy eggplant with minced pork was unfortunately overcooked, making the eggplant much softer and mushier than I prefer. The fried string beans were decent, but lacked the smoky wok char that usually makes this dish so satisfying. The biggest disappointment was the XO sauce fish filet. There wasn't much fish in the dish at all, it felt more like a vegetable stir-fry with a few pieces of fish mixed in. Often touted as Fresno's go-to destination for authentic Chinese cuisine and dim sum, both the original Imperial Garden and this sister restaurant offer an extensive menu featuring favorites like Kung Pao Chicken, Broccoli Beef, and a wide variety of dim sum selections. They may also be among the only dine-in spots in the area serving Chinese-style BBQ (siu mei), including roasted duck, pork, and chicken. The richly flavored Cantonese-style roasted meats and traditionally prepared dishes are what keep drawing me back. That said, the overall taste and execution of the dishes I've tried have been fairly average. Most lacked the freshly made vibrance, crisp textures, and precision that elevate great Cantonese cooking. Of the dishes I sampled, I would only confidently recommend the roasted pork alongside some fried rice. The House Special Roasted Duck (siu mei), traditionally served chopped through the bone over a mound of steaming rice, delivered satisfying umami-rich flavor. However, the skin was slightly rubbery, the edges somewhat dry, and I wish the duck itself had been meatier. The Pork Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce, one of their dim sum offerings, were savory, garlicky, and deeply umami-forward, though a bit too heavy on the sauce and cornstarch. The meat was firmer than I prefer, and the ribs should have been cut into smaller, more manageable pieces. The two standout dishes for me so far have been the Sautéed Pig Ears and the Roasted Pork (siu yuk). The pig ears are stir-fried with pickled vegetables and sliced jalapeños, then chilled and served cold. The combination creates a balanced mix of tangy, spicy, and savory flavors. I especially enjoyed the contrast between the gelatinous, tender skin, the distinct cartilage snap, and the crisp exterior. The roasted pork was deeply flavorful and satisfying as well, though it still lacked the tenderness and brittle crackling texture that make exceptional siu yuk memorable. So far, I have not been fully impressed by anything I have tried here. The food is good, but it misses the kind of polished, professional-level precision that would make it truly outstanding. Plenty of seating, background music playing and big screen tv advertising their menu. For a family of 4, our total came out to $46 plus tip. We ordered: - Har Kow 4/5 - Fried Chef's Special Dumpling 4/5 - Steamed Pork Bun (Char Sui) 4/5 - Half order of Fried Squid 4/5 - Yung Chow Fried Rice 4/5 We came here as it is close to our home but there are other locations as well. Was craving some Cantonese food after a long day at Sequoia. I'd say the meal definitely hit the spot overall, but there were a few misses with some of the dishes we ordered. I don't remember all the exact names, but here's what stood out: Mongolian Beef - Very good and pretty much what you'd expect. Plenty of beef and onions, the meat was super tender, and it wasn't overly sweet. Green Beans in XO Sauce - This one was disappointing. The green beans were overcooked and very mushy, and the XO sauce was surprisingly weak in flavor. Fish Filet in XO Sauce w/ Vegetable Stir Fry - Probably the most disappointing dish of the night. It was mostly vegetables with very little fish, and the fish itself lacked flavor. Wouldn't order this again. Salt & Pepper Fried Tofu - Easily one of the highlights. Perfectly cubed tofu with an excellent crispy texture and spot-on seasoning. Definitely a must-try dish. Eggplant Stir Fry in XO Sauce - Another letdown. The seasoning was very faint, and the eggplant was overcooked to the point of being overly mushy. I was hoping for bolder flavor since this would've paired really well with rice. There were only 2 tables that were occupied inside so I don't know why they were so busy. The inside look nice. The man and woman behind the counter were nice. They kept telling me 5 more minutes or 10 more minutes. I waited 50 minutes for my order of dimsum. When I asked why it took so long, they told me the shumai takes a long time. If you're in a hurry, don't order the shumai. By the time we got our food to take home, we were hangry. That killed our mood and didn't make our experience a good one unfortunately. read more

The roasted duck and pork looked amazing right as you walk into this 2nd location for Imperial Garden. Excited to try it out, we ordered everything but that! It was about a 30 minute wait time for our big order and it was the Lunar New Year which lands on my dad's birthday also this year AND Fat Tuesday which is everything that we celebrate in one day. The ambiance was rather quiet and slow as we only seen a few dining in but considering it was a Tuesday. We went home to open our order and right away we can tell the shrimp balls, salt & pepper wings, crab claws and sesame balls look a bit overdone and dark. My parents were eager to introduce me to this second Imperial Garden location that happens to be owned by different owners from the first long-standing location here in Fresno. They reported that they've had great experiences in the past and have enjoyed this location better than the first. And they were not wrong at all about that! Located in a strip mall, Imperial Garden #2 is situated at the very back of the courtyard in the middle of the shopping center between the supermarket and Dollar Tree. There's plenty of parking at this shopping center and the exterior is maintained very well. Upon entering into the restaurant, there is absolutely no resemblance to the other Imperial Garden. It's a little bit moodier with a little bit more Chinese authenticity. This location has a takeout barbecue station situated at the front next to the front counter where the host and hostesses are stationed. There is ample dining spaces, although not as large as the other location. The interior is clean and simple. I appreciate the seemingly cleaner environment as well. We arrived on a busy Saturday evening dinner time. During our 1+ hour stay, there was a constant flow of takeout as well as dine-in customers. My parents tell me that it is not always this busy, so definitely it is assuring to see that word of mouth has gotten around to hopefully keep this second location around. The menu is extremely extensive, and one can probably find all the typical dishes, including authentic as well as those that may suit more Western palettes. Portion sizes are large and flavors are quite on point, definitely more tasty and more authentic than the first location. In fact this is the only one that my parents now go to regularly. Service is also better here, although this evening that we came, the three wait staff members plus the one gentleman manning the takeout barbecue station appeared to be quite busy and so at times, customers may need to wait a tad bit longer although not excessive. Came here for lunch with a friend, this location is hidden but conveniently located in the RN shopping center. Pretty good portions for lunch specials and tasty food. Christmas Day visit, I was happy they were open. They were busy. I ordered the Duck Soup and the Black Bean Chicken sizzling plate. The duck was so good, the soup was full of egg noodles though you can pick rice noodles too if you want. It had bok choy as well. This soup could feel 2 easily by itself. Good amount of duck also just how you would expect. The black bean chicken sizzling plate was spot on. Mix that into the soup and it mixed well together. So I'm in town for work and wanted some dim sum, read the reviews and decided to give the place a try. I'm glad I did, they appeared busier than normal, but my waitress was great, very engaging. I ordered Shrimp and Walnuts, which was excellent. Shrimp were plump and not over cooked. I also ordered some Shumi, have to say they were the biggest one I have ever seen, they were excellent, I also ordered the house fried dumplings, WOW, what a treat, crispy outside, but nice and gooey inside with some minced pork, I highly recommend them!!! They have reservations on Yelp if you want to be extra sure to get a table, but you usually don't need it for most days We got a bunch of items to share, such as the black pepper filet mignon which is a crowd favorite, the herbal chicken that's good but has lots of bones, the fried salt and pepper fish filet that's decent (has a bit too much dough), pork rib clay pot rice with mushroom, and fish paste with vegetables that's pretty good, and the braised tofu that's also pretty good. read more

They serve authentic Chinese food and have great dim sum options. I especially like the steamed white chicken -- it comes with an excellent ginger sauce that's my favorite. The food itself is always good and worth it. The only downside is their takeout process. When you call in an order for pickup, it can take about 30 minutes just to place the order, and even after that, it's usually not ready when you arrive. I've had to wait another 15-20 minutes at the restaurant. At that point, it kind of defeats the purpose of ordering ahead for quick takeout. What a Delicious place to enjoy Chinese Food. It was the first time coming to this restaurant. This restaurant located on Cedar and Herndon next to R&N Market where the Hunan restaurant used to be. The restaurant was made beautiful and it very bright inside. We walk in and Duck and Ribs are hanging in a display case. We went early for dinner so we waited one minute for a table. Then the menu is a big one. So much to choose from. So, I asked the very sweet waitress if I can tell her what I want and to point out on the menu what is the closest to what I want. I ordered the Beef Vegetable Chow Mein pan fried noodles. Wow! They delivered. It came in less than 5 minutes. It was better than I expected. Very delicious. I also ordered the Potstickers. We really wanted the duck, but like I said we arrived 1 hour before closing and they were sold out already. So that made me sad. But I'll go earlier next time. It is located in the very very very back of the shopping center right next to Dollar tree and RNN market. You cannot miss the giant doors for entry and they have a lovely aquarium right by the door. The staff always greets me every time. I enter the restaurant and they take my order right away. You have the option as a customer to dine in or to take out however, you feel that day from a small group of one to a party of five or 10 or 20 just give them a heads up. The prices are reasonable for the area of course and there's plenty of parking so it's in a shopping center area. Just be mindful they are redoing the asphalt so they have some in the parking spaces and drive areas blocked off, but I was able to get there OK. So I placed a takeout order for my family our order the fried eggrolls, the asparagus with shrimp, the beef with broccoli, the salt, pepper, chicken wings, and the imperial special fried rice all delicious all great items. Well, it's been about three weeks since I've wrote a review on a restaurant been real busy but today my brother-in-law and I went out for lunch to imperial Garden two Let's start with the decorations tastefully done nothing over the top very soothing white table cloths, adoring the tables no complaints about the interior design. We ordered the garlic string beans five out of five why they had a nice char on the outside which gave the garlic, a nice crunch and the garlic was absolutely done to perfection. next came the bean sprout chow mein Chinese style. The bean sprouts still had a crunch. They were done Chinese style the noodles were cooked to perfection just a bit b al dente simple dish five out of five next came the steamed fish fillets with ginger and scallions. The fish was fillet of soul very large portion for two people the fish melted in your mouth, especially when you had a bite of scallion and small piece of ginger. The combination with the fish was superb. There was no detectable fishy flavor or taste to this dish five out of five the next was the roasted duck. The duck was a fatty meaty little duck wonderful portions of meat. The skin was extremely crispy. The sauce was over the top. I can't even begin to describe the sauce as that when every time I tasted it, I would pick up a pineapple flavor or an apricot flavor or a soy sauce. Blend with those other flavors. Absolutely superb in fact this Duck is better than four seasons. Five out of five would I come back to this place in s New York minute? The service is absolutely impeccable constantly refilling your ice tea constantly bringing you napkins. What more can you ask for for those people who are looking for authentic Chinese food don't go anywhere else. This is the place. I can hardly wait to come back. read more

What I like about this restaurant is the staff; they are usually pretty good about accommodating or going the extra miles. We had someone celebrating birthday and the waitress came out with the fried sesame. The food is good. The decor is cool. Our family's favorite Chinese restaurant has always been Imperial Garden, so when we saw there was a second location, we had to check it out. We always get the Hot and Sour Soup, Chinese Chicken Salad, and a mix of our other favorites--everything was just as delicious. The service was incredible--friendly, fast, and super welcoming. I was pretty excited to see this place open. It's a little hidden but there is a sign in the front of the building. I don't think they have been too busy. As soon as I walked in, 4 staff members in the front all greeted me. They were all kind of standing around waiting for customers to come in. As soon as my other party arrived, our server asked us for our drinks and if we were ready to order. I asked her a couple questions about some of the dishes, such as what is in the special chow mein. She didn't know and had to ask in the back. But she came out quickly and answered our questions. Food came out quickly and was really hot. Our green bean dish was a little burnt so it left a bad flavor. The pork shumai and harkow were overly steamed so it left them too soggy and soft. The Chinese broccoli was perfect and the chow mein was good but it had a salty flavor without the flavor (a little hard to explain). I did enjoy the service more than the food. Wow. The BEST Orange Chicken I ever had! It had a very thin batter, almost like tempura. Hot and crispy with a delicious sauce. The chicken pieces were HUGE and very tender. I sincerely doubt you would have the same dining results as a takeout or DoorDash. . . In order to EXPERIENCE the crispy, perfect texture, you would HAVE to eat it right there, as SOON as it came out STEAMING from the kitchen! SOOO good! The vegetable fried rice was outstanding! The Har Gow (or Kow) was the freshest, largest shrimp dim sum I have had. . . and I HAVE had my share! The Chicken Salad & Sesame balls were delicious too! I did not care for the Hot and Sour soup, but I don't care for it anywhere ELSE either! LOL! :D We had the quickest, most friendly, and attentive waitresses ever! The only 'fly in the ointment', was the music being played. Which was rock. It didn't fit the restaurant. Music is a BIG deal to me in restaurants. They seemed busy so it was pretty hectic and they stumbled a little getting incoming guests situated-- but service was very friendly and they did their best to accommodate everyone quickly. I ordered the Orange Chicken combo with veggie chow mein. Instead, I received plain chow mein noodles? The server could have misunderstood me because it was chaotic inside, but even so everything was super good. Truthfully I was skeptical when first looking at it, but taste changed everything! Chicken was flavorful, the noodles (though plain) tasted good, the dressing on the salad was delish and the eggroll was tasty (little soggy from condensation). Went with my family and we bought a variety of dishes there and not one was a disappointment. Some highlighted dishes would be their chow mein, fried rice, kung pow chicken and orange chicken. Have been couple times now as dine-in and then once as to-go for their roast meats. Cha Siu is decent although quite lean, and comes with honey which I've never had ever before. Had to ask them to re do it without any honey. Their roast duck is pretty good and their crispy pork is quite good but have to ask for less fatty cut. Have tried their salt pepper shrimp, beef chow fun, clay pot rice dishes, eggplant with salty fish. All quite good and satisfies the cravings for canto dishes. Service is professional. read more

We ordered Dim Sum (Shiu Mai & Shrimp Dumpling) but was a little disappointed they didn't have any steamed pork buns that they said are only available on the weekends. We ordered Chicken Chow Fun and Imperial Special Fried Rice and both were delicious and plentiful, however, the order for Honey Walnut Shrimp was small served with delicious Pineapple pieces and walnuts but they didn't have much of a glaze to them. We typically ordered the imperial steamed chicken, spicy eggplant with minced pork, salt and pepper pork chop, and their soup. Sometimes we ordered other dishes as well. They seem pretty consistent. We really liked their steamed chicken. It's probably one of our favorite dish. Portion is pretty decent. Service was prompt and friendly. Ambient wise - it's just like any other Chinese restaurant.
