Disclaimer: When ordering this via GrubHub, I had a typo in the phone number, and the house has a gate that is tricky to open. It took about ten minutes for the driver to get the pizza to me after he arrived. I decided to try delivery from this establishment based on the reviews. Delivery is a tough way to judge pizza because it tends to steam itself in the box, but for logistics reasons, it's how most enjoy their pizza. This place gets five stars for service. Phone was always answered, and the person on the other side was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Due to my own mistake, the driver had trouble delivering the pizza, but he did not give up, and I thank him for that. The pizza itself was average, I got half cheese half Stuarto, for $19. And the side of meatballs, for $6, had three, fairly smallish meatballs. They were quite nice. Overall, for $35.52 including delivery fee, tip, and tax, for somewhat average food, but it might have been better straight out of the oven. I would give them another shot eating in. read more

Found this Little Italy gem thanks to Yelp a few years ago - we now live in Baltimore and love Isabella's as locals! The pizza here is stellar. Absolutely the best in Baltimore, and actually I'd even say the best in the greater DMV area (I've been on a quest). The meatball sub is the best I've ever had - it's so good, it actually distracts me from their incredible pizza, which is saying a lot...tough choices when we have to order. I was home sick today so I ordered pizza and garlic bread with cheese. First, the bread arrived in plastic which any self-respecting Italian knows is a no-no. In addition to being rubbery (obviously from being in plastic), the bread had barely any taste and almost no cheese (see picture)! Still not sure what I paid for. The pizza was...ok. Now I stop in every time I pass through Baltimore. The pizza is the best I've had this side of Italy. Guaranteed to provide authentic Italian-style pizza ever since they opened. Consistently tasty. My hotel was just blocks away from Little Italy, and just wanting to relax after a 12 hour drive, I was in the mood for pizza. I placed a carry out order for a chef salad and a pizza with sausage peppers and onions. The food was ready in just ten minutes, which certainly impressed me. The salad was made of spring greens, this tomatoes slices, green olives, marinated mushrooms, cold cuts and cheese rolled together, and grated cheese. It was an enormous salad, though I feel the mortadella overwhelmed the salami and cheese. Throw in the olives and mushrooms and it was a pretty heavy salad. The tomatoes really helped to lighten the flavor. The pizza tasted awesome. They use a great sliced sausage with a zesty flavor. All the ingredients are well proportioned, there isn't too much cheese or too much crust. The crust was this but not too thin. It has a nice chew to it with just a hint of crunch. The sauce was bright and flavorful. The one thing that bummed me was the guy running the desk had no personality. He never smiled, I don't even think he said thank you. Not the best first impression for that one reason, but because I enjoyed the pizza so much, it gets the fourth star. read more

Isabella's is a tiny store located in Little Italy downtown. I came here pretty often when I was in graduate school and have had the chance to try a variety of items. Most recently, we ordered the Zioroni and Dominico. The Zioroni was delicious. Ham and Soppressata with Fontina Cheese, Mushrooms and peppers dressed with pesto. Everything went well together and the pesto added flavor but wasn't overpowering. The Dominico has parmacotto, rapini and sharp provolone. Someone tell Adam Richman that Isabella's has a better sub than Tommy DiNic's in philly! Instead of roast pork they use parmacotto which is a type of ham. Their rapini was not as bitter and the sharp provolone had the pungent smell to it but wasn't as strong. In my opinion, that made the sub so much better. The combination actually went really well together and it was a very enjoyable sandwich. In past visits, I've also had Isabella's, the King Richard pizza, Margherita and Stuarto. Honestly, everything we had here was good and i wouldn't mind having any of the items again. If you're ever in the area, give them a try! Friendly and fast service as well. Big fan! read more

Brought my son to get JJ's haircut this evening and passed this place on our way out so we decided to stop in. I'm so glad we did because we had an extraordinary experience. I randomly selected one of their signature pizzas then customized a 2nd one; one w/ red sauce & one w/ white. Both were absolutely delicious and the crust itself, is to die for!!! Besides the excellent food, the atmosphere was also top notch. The family running this place were all so down to earth and inviting; instantly make you feel like a close family friend. In todays time it's hard to find such good, wholesome people like these folks. It was my pleasure meeting each and every one of you. Thank you for an excellent brick oven pizzeria experience. PIZZA REVIEW Cheese: Plentiful, stringy, and just delicious Sauce: Isabella's has really good red sauce that they use for their meatballs, etc. It TASTES like they use that red sauce as their pizza sauce, which I'm not sure I agree with. But the good news is that you get a great amount of sauce and it comes through in the overall experience of the pizza. Crust: Major pro... Taste. The crust tastes reallyyyyy good, having that brick oven char to it. There's too much chew/flop to it though. This may be my preference, but I like my pizza crusts to have more of a crisp to them. Toppings: Had to try their sausage on a pizza, and boy was I not disappointed. High quality. Overall I really like this pizza. Really tasty and makes this place worth going back to time and again (and I'll be back!). My favorite sandwich here is the Aria. The bread always tastes fresh, and nothing can beat melted cheese on their warm bread! My boyfriend enjoys spicy food and opted for the zinger. He loved it, but even he found it a little too spicy, so maybe ask for less peppers if your spicy tolerance isn't through the roof. Great to-go place for sandwiches and pizzas! Easily became one of my favorite places in Baltimore. All of their sandwiches are delicious, I have tried many of them and I have not been disappointed. The Isabella and the American Cheesesteak for instance are totally on point. Their deli meats are sliced fresh for every sandwich, you can get just deli meat to go too! They also have an array of antipasti in the glass cooler when you walk in, along with a bunch of dried italian grocery items on the shelves. They also have brick oven pizzas which are also amazing! They are so flavorful and delicious! Definitely one of the best under rated pizza places in Baltimore. Only complaint is that this place is WAY too small. I love the small and quaint aspect, but it doesn't have a very welcoming atmosphere to sit and eat. Especially with only three tables (two 2-tops and one 4-top) so do not plan on eating there. Definitely get it to-go. Also, a fun tip: Behind Isabella's is the outdoor bocce court, open for the public too, just FYI! read more

This is an excellent lunch spot. It's probably better for those who work near this little restaurant and pick up a sandwich to go. This place is quite tiny so there weren't that many seats but the food is excellent. My boyfriend and I ordered a medium King Richard's Pizza. The crust was very well made and the toppings were delicious. The sauce was nice. Nothing was too salty or lacking of flavor and the crust had that perfect amount of crunch. We also shared a 6 inch Scootch and that was very good too! The meats and cheese had a nice combination and we didn't feel like we were overly stuffed after sharing all that food. I came in not having high expectations for this place, but it really exceeded my expectations :) Very nice lunch spot and I hope to go there again soon :) read more

Outstanding Italian sandwiches and very good wood-oven pizza in this tiny combination of deli and pizza place. Isabella's is only about 7 years old but I'd have believed 70 years, it just has the feel of a classic old-school place. A personal pie at 10 inches and about 10 bucks is plenty of food for two people. I tried the veggie pizza, the crew that day was perfectly happy to spice it up a bit with fresh red cherry peppers and pepper flakes. In all of 5 minutes I had a pie with an absolutely perfect char on the crust but not burned on top. Very good pizza. The sandwiches are amazing thanks to the Italian deli meats they slice fresh for every sandwich: capocollo, mortadella and any other favorite, it's here. Another treat was a special rosemary-infused ham, delicate and so yummy. Even the spicy vegetarian sandwich (hey- variety!) was great. I recommend asking for your sandwich to get an extra toasting in the brick oven, you'll be glad you did. I can just about eat a half-size sandwich alone, a full-size is plenty for two. The deli counter also offers marinated mushrooms, filled cherry peppers, cooked stuffed green peppers, fresh mozz plus any of their meats and cheeses by the pound. They have a few shelves with De Cecco pasta, olive oil, canned San Marzano tomatoes and other Italian specialties. Try to leave room for dessert! Cannoli here are simply perfect: small, crispy, filled right when you order then dusted with powdered sugar. They have chocolate-dipped cannoli shells but that's overkill :) I think they're perfect plain. I've chatted up the staff and everyone was very friendly, so I don't quite understand Yelper comments about rude staff. These are some serious cooks, not just high schoolers etc. The only thing is, the kitchen staff is right there in the same space with you, there's no front-of-the-house separation from back-of-the-house, you're likely dealing with a person who anywhere else would be called a line cook and not allowed to talk to customers LOL! I've visited here on several weekday afternoons about 2pm and had the place to myself -- I could sit at any of the four tables! Seriously this place seats only a dozen people, so take-out is probably about all you can hope for at peak times. read more

Lunch time!!! What better way to spend lunch then by going to little Italy. I have been to LI several times, but I have always missed this little gem. Okay, it is in the city so no, parking isn't great, but there is a garage that is practically free to park in. Isabella's is right on the corner with a green awning. It is quite small on the inside with about two tables and a counter with fresh foods. The menu is pretty big, from brick oven pizzas, to salads, and sandwiches. So I decided on a sandwich, I got the Porchetta, which had roasted pork with rosemary, mozz, tomato, cheese and oil. There are two sizes, small and large. I got the small. Okay let me tell you, this sandwich was ahmayzing!! Nommers!! The bread was awesome, and the pork was great, you could really taste the rosemary. I was sad when it was all gone. The staff were really cool and things were made quickly, despite it being lunch time. I am so happy that I found Isabella's because I will definately be returning!!! read more

We have been to Isabella's twice. Every time it's been a positive experience. It's an extremely small place with a few small tables. We have been lucky enough to find an empty table in both visits. Service is excellent. Quick ordering and quick food. The Margherita pizza is what we order. The crust is light, perfect sauce, with enough cheese, tomatoes and basil. We also get an Italian cold sub to take home. It has all the right combination of ingredients to make it a tasty one. We love Isabella's and will continue to visit when craving pizza! How did we not know how delicious this place was sooner?! Pizza crust is soft and chewy, not to doughy. Lots of toppings and they always listen when I ask for extra sauce. Love the choice of 10" or 14"-neither are an overwhelming size so you can order several different kinds. My favorite has been the ones with feta! But last night we ordered salads for the first time and I was blown away. I wish I had gotten a pic but we were starving. Absolutely jam-packed with healthy greenery-no iceberg-and tons of toppings. I was skeptical about the goat cheese peppa dews (I'm not a huge goat cheese fans) but my husband got them and had to fight me off from stealing more. Having an Italian husband (from Rome) and having lived there myself for several years, my standards for Italian food (including pizza) are high. Isabella's was decent. The pizza dough was thin and tasty. Exactly what I would expect from a brick oven pizza. I had their Margherita and it was good, I don't understand the tomato slices instead of sauce but it was good.
