The food was good but the rest was just OK. The coleslaw I ordered had no dressing and when I took it up to the counter to get it fixed, I stood there for 5 minutes becore they acknowledged me. It was bizarre since there was no one in line even though the place was packed. They eventually fixed the coleslaw but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. But to be fair, the cod tested very good and the French fries were good so I'll try it again sometime and update my review.

Nice to have a casual fish n chips place close to home. The help yourself "sauce bar" is a plus. Definitely try out the garlic vinegar .... it's good. Casual seating inside with booths.

We've been waiting eagerly for this Ivars to open for months and we were not disappointed!! We were worried because the line was long, but it moved quickly and the cashier was very friendly. We both got the two piece Alaskan rock cod and it was delicious! The food came quickly and was super hot and fresh. The inside was nice and clean, we were impressed since they've been packed, but the tables were cleared very quickly. We can't wait to come back and try the Kidd Valley burgers.

I saw that Ivar's opened up recently in the area, and I was so excited for a new seafood spot locally. My husband and I popped in for dinner and both ordered the oysters n' fries basket, and each had a fountain drink. It was about $36 for two people. I wouldn't have been bummed out if the oysters portion was a little bit more. The basket literally came with five, small oyster pieces and a whole lot of fries. Everything tasted hot, fresh, delicious, but I was surprised that there wasn't much to it for the cost of the meal. And never had my husband turned to me at a meal in a restaurant and says "So I'm definitely going to need some protein after this". The oysters were really soft and creamy, with a peppery sort of battered spice. And the fries are nice and crispy. If they could have added at least three more pieces of oysters, this would have been it. I'll give it another try again soon and order a sandwich instead.

Probably been this way for years, but that's maybe a jumbo shrimp, but certainly not a jumbo prawn. Why I just get the chowder which is still great. $12.50 for 8 little prawns and no chips.

Finholm's has a lot of history in this neighborhood and there is a nearby sign where you can read up on some of it. Inside the store I wouldn't exactly call it a full fledged supermarket but there are plenty of snacky items and the beer selection is great! There are a lot of brands of beer that aren't commonly seen in the area so if you are into craft beer there is a lot to check out! But not only that they have beers on tap that you can enjoy as well and hang out there! There is a place that serves food inside. It's a waffle shop in which you can get sweet or savory waffles. That place has it's own Yelp entry and I will write a review for that in the near future. But definitely check out Finholm's and read up on it's history... it's pretty interesting!

We also had the chance to enjoy coffee and pastries one morning. I had a latte, and my husband had a mocha, and both were good! Along with our drinks, we ordered a croissant, and I had a kouign-amann. Once again, my husband can attest to the quality of the pastries, given his French background. The service and the bakery's ambiance were good--clean and well set up. Seats were readily available when we visited (approximately 10 am). The parking lot is first-come, first-served, and we weren't able to park there, but we easily found street parking just a few steps away.

We left there early and by the time we reached Gig Harbor we were most certainly in the mood for breakfast. Apparently lots of other people did to and also it must frequently that idea in town as it was quite busy. We were informed that there was a wait but it wasn't a bad one and the restaurant looked highly enticing so we put our names on the list. When we were called we sat at the bar. Which was fine... we weren't about to be choosey. We ordered our food and we enjoyed immensely when we got it. I got a waffle with strawberries and cream which was amazing! The waffle was perfection, the fruit was fresh. Just wonderful! I also saw breakfast potatoes and they looked great too so I ordered some of those too. No big surprise... they were excellent! Steve and I both got a Bloody Mary and it was so good! It had a nice, spicy kick to it and was great! Some mornings call for a Bloody Mary and this one fit the bill nicely! Steve got a great tasting omelet and he had no complaints either! It's definitely worth the wait to get a table... not a shred of doubt with that.

Atmosphere & Service We arrived right at 7:00 AM and were treated to a lovely sunrise reflecting off the water. Honestly, there isn't a bad seat in the house. The staff was the perfect blend of friendly and efficient, and even the fellow patrons seemed to be in a great mood--which speaks volumes about the vibe here. Bottom line: Incredible food, stellar views, and a warm, welcoming energy. We'll be back!

We order a 3-pc halibut/chips $15, a bowl of clam chowder and 2 soda cans. Came to $31 before tip. You order at the trolley window and you pick food up there when ready. They have covered and uncovered seating area very convenient. Order took about 10-12 minutes. Glad we ordered 3 pc fish as they were very small portions, a different coating...tasted like corn/masa, not too heavy but a bit gummy on inside. For fresh halibut it wasn't a stand out unfortunately. Ample fries ( crinkle cut) that were crispy, like the sprinkle of herb (parsley?), although we smelled a slightly fishy smell unclear if fries cooked in same fish oil, tarter good. We only had a taste of the chowder because we find it nearly impossible to enjoy properly with a small plastic spoon. One ends up spilling more down the front of you then consuming. We brought home, it was nice and creamy (butter added richness) and appreciated not tasting like bacon or being a chunky potato soup. I would order again, $8 fair price for bowl. Curious to try other menu options like steam clams, calamari, etc.
