We've gone twice more since our not so great experience and the food was much better both times. I really like the prawn and chips and the Cajun cod fish and chips. I highly recommend getting the cod Cajun style. It's so good. I like the little bites they have now too, sriracha cod, onion rings and calamari. I don't recommend the tacos- but I think they are leaving the menu and that's definitely for the best. They put their coleslaw in the taco and it is so overwhelmingly sweet. Writing this as I gather myself from a triggered panic attack because of how horrible the customer service here was. My boyfriend and I have been delivering for Door Dash during quarantine as we have no other way of making money. We have done tons of pick ups & drop offs with no issues, but this experience was one of the worst human interactions I've witnessed. Today we went into Ivar's and instead of a "hello" we got greeted with a cold demand to "stand over there, not there"...it was already off to a weird start but even after we "obeyed" her demand to go stand on the other end of the restaurant, the woman in the back kitchen practically yelled at us to go stand elsewhere (I still don't understand where else we could have gone) to make room for "other customers to come in"... Keep in mind we've been 6ft apart from other customers this whole time and we're not blocking the doorway AND it's literally quarantine--no other customers are coming in. Their attitude was mean and condescending for no reason. While I have a paralyzing fear of conflict, my boyfriend is one to stand for our honor. So, he says "there's no other customers coming in but we'll move when they do". Which she responded with even more bitterness, "wow ok. No. You can go stand outside" and with a smug smile she waved and said "bye bye". (I hope you read that with maximum attitude & bitterness haha) I was already in disbelief at this point by the rudeness, and I didn't think it could get worse but when my boyfriend explained we have a door dash order and we are just waiting to pick up, they *YELLED* at us to go outside. They were treating us like animals and I have yet to understand what we did wrong. As any sane person would do, my boyfriend said that we would be cancelling the order and that they will hear from us on yelp (hi how are ya, here I am). We get to the car and at this point, I'm sobbing (I know, I'm too sensitive I'm working on it lol)...I keep repeating "why are they so mean! what did we do!".. My boyfriend goes on the DoorDash app to cancel the order and as we're waiting in the car to get it processed the same woman who was behind the counter comes out with the bag of food *dangling* on her finger and walking with the most bitterness I done ever seeeen! She gets to our window, my boyfriend explains we canceled the order so we wouldn't be taking the food and she snaps at us saying "well then you can't park here" and my boyfriend said we would leave when we're ready and she threatened to call the cops on us! At this point I am hyperventilating and she keeps yelling at us and my boyfriend is standing his ground. This is a novel at this point but basically he tells her that he wishes she finds happiness in her life and that he made me cry and blah blah...and we drive away. With all that said, I genuinely wish these women well but I am overwhelmed at the dehumanizing service I experienced today. Will not be returning here as delivery workers or even customers! I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that they're stressed by the pandemic but that is no excuse for the way they treated us. This weird time of the world should be met with extra love and extra kindness. So disappointed in what people are capable of. Thanks for reading. read more

Regularly does not get the order right when ordering to go. 75% of the time the condiments are wrong - and you only have 2 condiments - it's Just not that complicated. If this wasn't in the middle of nowhere it wouldn't compete. read more

Just got a DoorDash delivery of lots of chowder and some Pollock fish and chips. Food came to us hot and the fish was still crispy. We got a giant tub of their clam chowder (equal to 2 bowls) which was amazing as usual and we also tried the smoked salmon chowder this time. The smoked salmon chowder was not super creamy like the clam chowder but was still good. Overall I think we prefer the white clam chowder and since we get takeout once a week, we will continue to grab their chowder along with fish and chips every other week as this stay at home order continues. I had gotten an order of Cajun cod some time ago, and it was a little jarring. Despite the food being way too overcooked almost to the point of it crunching like rocks, it wasn't totally dry and it still tasted pretty good. Fries are always cooked and seasoned nicely. Got the Cajun cod another time and it was perfectly cooked, but I'd say it needs more kick. It's not TOO different from the regular cod, but thankfully it's like a quarter so you're still definitely getting your money's worth. Out of dozens of times coming here, this was the only time my food was overcooked, and so I get it's just the occasional human error without any real lack of care. The restaurant was tidy and employees were conscious about the pandemic, as well as friendly enough to make you feel nice and comfortable. 9/10, overall a good and consistent experience. read more

Great fish and chips! It doesn't get more local than Ivar's. I love the panko breaded cod and chips... and the smoked salmon chowder is always a delight. The staff here at the Issaquah location are always very friendly. They always come by to ask how the food is and to offer a moist towelette. I was not impressed, however, when I requested curbside pickup at the Issaquah location this afternoon. The employee who brought the food curbside was rude about having to bring the food outside to my car. Hmmmm............??? was disappointed with my order from the Ivar's Seafood Bar that recently opened in Issaquah. How can I be diplomatic?Granted, I've not been to Ivar's in some years BUT from my vivid recollections of past experiences, the fish batter was customarily a golden bronze with a crispy outside texture. The visual aesthetic was much more appealing and appetizing unlike the dry dirty grey/brown coating that I witnessed. The fish was dry and appeared to be coated with something akin to shake n' bake for pork chops!!!! :( I wouldn't be surprised). Nonetheless, I ate my take out order sitting at home and ate haphazardly, while simultaneously debating whether or not to just deposit this "stuff" into a trash receptacle! Halfway through my dreadful representation of what was supposedly a fish and chips meal I finally succumbed to doing just that! Without the slightest hesitation I "Gorilla Slam Dunked" the sh-t into the garbage! Good riddance!!! You don't have to decipher if I'll ever visit this Ivar's in my lifetime! YUCK! read more

Really glad to have Ivar's in Issaquah. We hardly have any good places to eat. I love the cod and clam baskets. Their chowder is consistently good. Hot sauce and vinegar are bonus, though awkward to reach them. If you can avoid it, do not eat here late. After 8 pm, they start their clean up process and sauces are put away, drink machine is dirty, clams are overcooked, and my son found hair on the chicken basket. Fry guys should wear hats maybe. During the day, service is great, everything is good. Just don't eat there too late! read more

Love that they opened this new location near me! I would always go to the one across from Crossroads Mall in Bellevue. The interior is so fresh and welcoming with the seafood theme incorporated all throughout. Its the perfect place to get your seafood fix on the go or you can even dine in. Its open seating and a casual place to grab a bite to eat. I usually get their Salmon Chowder and Fish and Chips which are super fresh and delicious. They also offer plenty of condiments to choose from with garlic vinegar, tarter sauce, cocktail sauce and hot sauces. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I will be returning soon for my seafood fix! Pro Tip: Order the Full Boat special which comes with 10 pieces of fish, 2 cups of chowder, coleslaw and french fries. This is a casual restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. We had the chowder, cod fish n' chips and a Caesar salad. They forgot the french fries. We went up and asked and they brought it out quickly. The salad was brown and wilted, probably should skip it. Almost inedible. The restaurant is clean and some hardworking people would whisk away all empty baskets and cups. There was one worker that grabbed utensils off the table we weren't using, she brought it to our table, but we already had some. Been here twice, both times ordered online for take out and both times was satisfied with the quality of food. However, both times my wife and I were greeted with hostility from the manager. The first time there was no parking available right in front of the restaurant so we parked a couple stalls down (toward AT&T). After parking we called and said we're here and described where we were parked and what car we were in. When my wife saw a worker come outside with a bag of food, she got out of the car to meet the worker halfway. Before handing the food to my wife, the worker started yelling "I didn't know where you were parked and you're supposed to park in the designated stalls!" We were in complete shock lol I mean all she had to say was "here's your food". The 2nd time I was met with hostility in restaurant. I again ordered online, parked in the correct stall this time, called to say I was here, then I waited. I waited 25 min past the estimated ready time that was emailed to me and that was verbalized to me when I called to say I arrived. I walked in and just wanted to make sure they didn't forget about me or maybe I they weren't doing curbside anymore? I said my name and asked if there was a take out order for me. Guess who was behind the counter, my good ol friend from last time. She immediately yelled at me to go back and wait in my car and that if I read the sign and knew how to follow directions I wouldn't have come in. Just sad that this lady is supervising and trying to teach younger employees about how to work in a restaurant. I'll probably go to Ivar's again because they do have good fish but definitely won't be this location. I get the feeling that every encounter with this lady is a "Karen" moment. Don't waste your money on the baked salmon. It was an extremely thin and completely over cooked! Texture was more like salmon jerky and had zero flavor!! In the trash it went. Too bad! Ivars of all places, a PNW restaurant can't cook a local specialty. read more
