So many different foods from Yalitpri platters to omelette rice to sushi, it's all pretty well made. I would go for the unagi bowl since that was huge when I went to their chantilly location. The moment I walked in, I had to stop and take pictures - the decor was absolutely stunning, like stepping straight into Japan. The atmosphere felt cozy and authentic. The food was excellent! I ordered the okonomiyaki, takoyaki, and vegetable skewers. Everything was delicious, but the okonomiyaki stole the show- perfectly crisp on the outside, tender inside, and lots of flavor. This place is so spacious, I thought I was in a mini Japanese hotel. Each private room had its own theme--I was just waiting for someone to come in and hand me a samurai sword. The food? Chef's kiss. Everything was a flavor party...Except the gyoza. That little dumpling had no personality. Even the sauce tried to help, but they both just gave up. Still, the rest of the meal was top-tier. Now here's the real MVP move: the server opened a wet wipe for us before and after the meal like we were royalty with greasy fingers. Also, if you need something? No awkward waving--just push the magical button on the wall and boom, someone appears like a ninja. Super clean, super quiet (probably because we were in our own space and not annoying anyone), and great for big groups or introverts who still want to eat in style. 10/10 would come back. Love the design of the restaurant. They have a bar area and booths on the side for small parties. Then there's semi private rooms in the back for parties 6+. Reservations can be easily made online. There is a service button at the table and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. All the dishes we ordered were delicious and presentation was exceptional. The skewers were perfectly grilled and tender. My daughter loved the chicken yakisoba and she's a picky eater. This is such a great spot for food and conversation with friends or go on a nice date. There are privates rooms groups can get seated at. Music is not too loud, super mellow but upbeat! I need their playlist haha and Lunch special is until 4pm and well worth the value. We got the lunch specials - the omakase and Nana. They're both really solid options depending on whether you like more fish or cooked foods. For the nana lunch special, star of the show is the chawanmushi - super flavorful egg and ikura. My favorite for the omakase set are the unagidon - pretty sizeable for a tapas and juicy and not too sweet - and sashimi (salmon, yellowtail, tuna, and octopus). Shared between both sets were the salmondon and yellowtail which was also solid! I think fish all around here is super promising - very firm and fresh! The skewer we ordered was also good. I will say the hot foods aren't the hottest, only warm as was the skewer, but was still well cooked. I really liked the concentrated dots of seasoning that are on each piece of meat. FYI: I read some previous reviews where they had a promotion to check in for one of their mock tails. That's no longer available but the staff were nice enough to give us a grapefruit and berry mocktail. Berry is best is your a sweet tooth and grapefruit if you like citrus/sour. The decorations are jaw dropping with a huge tree, moon gate, and various seating styles like benches or even more traditional ground seating available. They owners took a lot of care designing the restaurant and keeping inline with a Japanese theme. It's spacious and modern yet private with individual tables and not overly crowded. Crazy Nana Roll is TOP TIER--soft shell crab is soooo good! On the pricier side, but honestly so yummy and filling that you can have share just this and one other side dish. The Crispy Wings surprised me. SO soft and tender, literally fall-off-the-bone chicken wings (is that a thing?) This was my boyfriend's favorite (he didn't stop talking about this for the whole meal). The yakitori platter and chicken yakisoba were okay, but overpowered by the roll and wings we had. SO I have 2 experiences from this place. One is dine in the other is take-out. 1. Dine-in. I fully recommend this if you're coming here with groups of friends or a intimate date. It's not too loud. The Ramen Nana. was a dud. I'm sorry to say this. Lobster had 0 flavor. Frozen im guessing !? The Wagyu... was it even wagyu!? That was probably one of the worse ramens i had in awhile. Even the noods didn't do any justice. The broth was bland. 2nd dish was the Wagyu Foie Gras Uni. 3 of the most naturally rich flavor substance. Sadly nothing. Wagyu again had no taste, uni was alright and the Foie Gras surprisingly didn't have much of a taste. Sure it looks amazing in photos. The presentation, the works but sadly it was a let down. Now for the take-out. Did you see that Miso Black-Cod !? the LEMON was bigger then the freaking fish. I don't mind spending the money for good food but if you're pricing $28 for what it suppose to be a main dish but somehow cut into a appetizer size. NOT EVEN. BITE SIZE! I'm sorry and that WASN'T DEBONED!? That was one of the biggest rip-off dishes to order for takeout. All in all if you want to get some drinks and finger foods with friends or a date. I'm not a fan of the thyme/rosemary/oregano flavors and expected a thicker, creamier consistency. The takowasabi was the best dish of the night. It was flavorful, salty, and had the perfect amount of wasabi. It was fresh as well. The Wagyu fried rice was also a let down. It was really oily and bland. The beef chunks were really lean and not tender. Still better than the mentaiko. The yakitori platter was also overhyped. Everything came out barely warm and nothing stood out to write home about. The best was probably the chicken wings. Runner up would be the beef since it was fatty. I felt the portions were on the smaller end. Everything was more expensive than I expected because of how it's further away from flushing's Main Street. The crepe cake was good and met expectation. We stopped by Izakaya Nana during brunch on a weekend and wanted to find a spot that was outside of the busy Main street of Flushing. I found Izakaya Nana and based on reviews, it looked really nice. The restaurant and decor was very nice and comfortable! We definitely enjoyed the setting. However, when it comes to the food, it was nothing to rave about. We ordered a array of small bites, from fried chicken, mix of skewers, ramen noodles, crab, uni and foie gras, and hamachi kama. First, the hamachi kama was NOT fresh at all! I have had this fish many times in other restaurants however here, it tasted fishy and funky! Additionally, the uni and foie gras were so small, the foie gras was literally the size of my pinky nail. But we did enjoy the skewers, but you can't really cook skewers wrong. Overall, the service and restaurant was good, however food was not good and not fresh, especially the hamachi kama. Great place for big parties and events. We came here for a table of 7 (two children) and were seated in one of their rooms (which take up a large bulk of the restaurant). The food is beautiful and looks next level especially for a restaurant in flushing. Everything was solid, no complaints, but nothing really blew me a way. This place does a great job accommodating for large parties though and they're running regular deals on particular items. They're also accommodating if you bring a cake for a birthday and they'll put a candle on it and give you plates for serving. They also have a fun spin the wheel thing at the end if you spend over a certain amount for a discount on your next visit.
