    J. Alexander's has become one of our favorite restaurants in the Dunwoody area. The food and service are both consistently good, and for a reasonable price compared to other similar restaurants. I especially like the ribs, and my wife is a big fan of the trout. The french fries are thin and crispy. The coleslaw is one of the best I've had in a restaurant. Highly recommended.

The food here was amazing. My steak was a high quality cut that was perfectly cooked. They had a Cajun seafood pasta that everyone at the table shared and enjoyed. My daughter got the Mac and cheese that she got last time and enjoyed it just as much this time. The spinach con queso and chips was so good we ended up ordering a second round! The staff was attentive and friendly and the establishment was clean and well taken care of. My only "complaint" was that the food was so good we forgot to grab pictures until most of the food was already gone! We will definitely be coming back here next month when we are back in the area.

First...Ana (Server) was great! Food... 1. Sea bass was a little on the dry side. It came with couscous and corn as side dish. The corn was like a Mexican style dish. It did not pair well with the Sea bass! 2. Ribs- they were glazed with a sweet sauce. Very tender, but the sauce was too sweet. Sides: cold slaw and loaded back potato- not bad. 3. Steak and Chips- we asked for Med Well- it came to table Well. Steak Sauce(A1) had a very strong vinegar taste! 4. Chicken Finger Appetizer- no complaints 5. Shrimp Appetizer- no complaints We did not partake in any adult beverages because we had a long drive home.

Honestly, this is never a bad idea for lunch. We stop in here from time to time if we know we're going to Perimeter Mall, which is just across the street. We are always able to be seated immediately which is nice! Normally it's just me and hubby but we had the two tiny ones in tow this day. Their food came out fast and first (a plus!) and they ate it with no trouble. Having them there also means I spent an inordinate amount of time accompanying someone to the bathroom. Luckily the restroom was spacious and clean. Our food was good as usual. The biggest surprise for me was how tasty the cheesesteak was. Visually, it just looks okay (see pic for evidence) but it was flavorful and delicious!! The STAR of the meal isn't even pictured but it was the carrot cake, which was served warm. The cake was so good that my husband said whenever we're at the mall we should just go pick up some carrot cake from J. Alexander. He's not wrong. The cake was extremely moist, the icing was creamy, and it wasn't overly sweet. Hands down, it's the best carrot cake I've ever had. If you've read this far, you should order it!!

I have never been to J. Alexander's before but that place looks amazing inside. Fancy, yet casual. The host/servers were super nice and just real all in all. My mom and I were craving some steaks and thought this would be the best place for that. We ordered the Ribs and steak entrees both were really good.

I landed at J Alexander's on a day I designated for self-care! Yay for prioritizing ME time! I arrived at lunch with no reservation and was offered a table at the bar. The bartender was a little slammed with a weekday lunch crowd, so I prepared myself for a bit of a wait. Nope! Quite unexpectedly, the general manager, Reed, appeared from the kitchen and kindly stopped to take my drink order. I was so appreciative for the team effort! I decided to be good and bad, so I ordered a house salad with a side of French fries! I love J Alexander's fries (slender and crispy!) - they're some of the best around. The salad is good, too - look at all the veggies (and bacon) atop my greens (see pic!) The bar area is loud around lunchtime, but it was a non factor for me as I was simply enjoying some web surfing over my meal. This is a 5-star review because of the service. The bartender, Bry, was so friendly and attentive even though she was so busy. Again, Reed, the general manager, promptly kicked things off on a courteous note! Reservations are recommended! I was lucky to score a seat in the bar! This location is directly in front of the Wal-Mart off Ashford Dunwoody Rd. Ample parking available.

A week ago today a friend and I had an early dinner here (I guess that's what it was). YELP, it exceeded my expectations! Like , exceeded. All I know is that it's been years since I've come to the J.Alexander chain and just didn't remember much about it. It was forgettable, obviously. My friend had come to this location a couple of times and spoke highly of her previous meal and experience. I trust this friend soooo instead of trying somewhere new(which I love to do) .... We came here. There's something about being hungry. You want to go somewhere solid. Somewhere tried & true. Ok! I immediately loved the atmosphere here. It's so relaxing. It was perfect for having adult conversations with my friend over a good cocktail and a good meal. I ordered an old fashioned to sip on. My friend had something yummy and sexy to drink. I forgot the name of her cocktail of choice. We both enjoyed our drinks. (See pics of my drink) We both ordered the chicken fingers entree. This was a lot of food!!! Coleslaw and fries as my side were perfect! This dish didn't miss. I know I know , it's chicken but very crispy outside and juicy , tender white meat inside. (See pics) I added a Caesar salad. It was outstanding! I didn't think I would eat all of it but I definitely put a dent in it! The tomatoes I requested to be added were a nice touch. Oh and the dressing seem homemade. Wonder salad !!! (See pics) The service we received was great! Our server was amazing!!! She took really care of us and wasn't overbearing or annoying at all. She was great!!! Fun personality- we tipped her nicely ( well deserved) !!!! Lastly - dessert! Warm carrot cake. Yes! It was rich but good. We only ate a few bites. Whew, that's about all I could handle. I recommend you try it for sure so don't skip dessert. It's their featured dessert. My friend swears her carrot cake is better....... I believe her! Lol This review is a little on the long side but I hope you get the point. This J. Alexander's experience was memorable. I will definitely be back to this location ... might be a new hideout for me! SHHHHHHH.......

Free parking in nearby garage was a plus. Located under some apartments in a neighborhood that has seen better times, it was actually a pleasant surprise to walk into this unassuming restaurant where time seemed to stand still. It looks like it has been renovated and kept up furnishing wise though. Staff wore white server coats and most looked unpressed and not very clean. Overall, the inattentive and inconsistent service was extremely disappointing for our expectations. Staff were friendly and that probably swayed us to staying here. Once we noticed that the female servers were crumbing the tables, clearing empty plates, filling water glasses, all without prompting, checked back on food served, and offering hot towels at the end of their party tables, etc. it diminished the mostly tasty meal that we had consumed. I had selected this restaurant for a special anniversary and would not return to any of their locations if this is the norm. Even the maitre'd who delivered the food did not pick up empty plates without prompting or seem to notice how dirty the tablecloth was from the bread crumbs. Fresh oysters from MA were small and tasty Truffle fries were good Cesar salad with house made croutons and extra anchovies made it tastier Branzino was good- veggies were not properly cooked- were tough. Smashed potatoes were good Server knew that dairy free was important and did not point out that there was sorbet on the dessert menu. Server was basically very pleasant but untrained and lazy. We are looking forward to the Atlanta Fish Market next time - it takes pride in service and food excellence.

So I had seen this spot for ages and I have never been inside. So I tried to make a point to go in…read morebecause I was in the area. It's in a shopping center so there are plenty of parking, but you may not be able to park close to where you want to walk to the door to because there are so many other spots there. But the parking is free in Buckhead. So that's a plus! There's spaces inside and outside for you to go to, so that's good, but the inside is very nice and decorated very well. They have TV so you can watch sports but it's not a sports bar so don't get that confused. The bar is a nice size and set it pretty well. Not billions of bottles but just enough to what you need. Dean was my my server and bartender, super good customer service, very warm and communicative, and I would have come back just to sit at the bar with him again. The ball is very well kept and very clean, but the whole establishment was as well. They have a lot of space by the bar and to the other side of the restaurant as well. The menu is predominantly seafood related but they have other things as well. But they have a couple things that look like. They should be really really good so I am going to have to double back! Calamari - The calamari was pretty good. It came out really fast so it makes me think that they were already cooking by the time I ordered LOL. But it had a sweet chili sauce to it, but the calamari seem to be crispy and seasoned enough to where it wasn't a requirement. Brussel sprouts - brussel sprouts for good, kind of wish they had more of them but they were still pretty tasty. Overall. They had the vinaigrette flavor so I know that they were cooked well. They were more firmed and mushy so that was good. I would get them again and I was see. Can I get a full order instead of just a side order because they were just that good. Old bay fries - The Old Bay fries were okay. They had that sodium to where you needed ketchup to kind of bring the sweet. But they were still good though regardless. Shrimp tacos - these were good. Had 3 large shrimp. Got mine blackened and they were just the right amount of taste and flavor. The sauce on it was a little much but that was okay though, it balanced out all of the spice for the peppers and the shrimp seasoning. Gumbo - the gumbo was pretty good and it came in a large bowl, more than you would think a cup would be. Savory and tasty. Overall, with the quality of the food and the customer service, I feel like this place definitely deserves my attention again. The first time I went in I only had a couple of appetizers, and that really didn't do it justice.

We enjoyed the Fried Calamari app. My bride ordered Fish & Chips and I ordered the Lobster Roll. All the food was excellent. Great fries, really great Cole Slaw. Drinks and food arrived promptly and everything was at the proper temperature. Every staff person we met was cheerful and helpful with Deenie our server best in class. This was my second-ever Lobster Roll and it was the second-best after a Cousins Food Truck. The B's portion seem significantly smaller and, at $35, more expensive. In general, Big B's pricing is what lost them a star in my review. We will definitely return when we earn another $120...

Really loud though, so you'll need to project your voice across the table lol. Our server was really friendly and explained all the menu items well. For apps we got the grilled oysters & lobster bites. Both were delicious and flavorful - wish the portions were larger haha. I usually don't like oysters but these were really good. I ended up getting the grouper grilled with lobster risotto & truffle fries. My husband got the scallops with lobster risotto and brussel sprouts (we shared). The risotto was the winner! It had a great texture, flavor, and chunks of lobster in it. The fish was nicely grilled. Wished the scallops were larger. Server said it would be about 5-8 scallops and we got 4...in addition they gave us the wrong sauce (he ordered cajun and got lemon). The kitchen also messed up my order as well with forgetting the truffle fries & giving me a large portion of risotto instead. They did bring it to me after I asked. Server was really busy and tended forget the things we asked for. He forgot our friend's drink a few times. Since it was busy, it was hard to get his attention right away. We did have to wait a long time for our food - first for the apps then between the apps and dinner, about 40 minutes. For dessert we had the creme brulee & peach cobbler cheesecake. They gave us some small glasses of wine to toast on the house (as well as the creme brulee). The creme brulee was pretty good though the sugary top could have been crispier. The cheesecake was just OK. Lots of peach preserves on a regular NY style cheesecake. Wouldn't get it again. Overall food is good but wait times and the forgetfullness were disappointing.

As we pulled in front of the restaurant, I was very impressed by the modern exterior - very nice! Parking is a breeze - you can valet or self-park in the back of the restaurant. We had reservations but arrived a little early and had to wait about 5-10 minutes to be seated - not a huge deal for a busy Saturday night. Once we got to our table, we had an amazing experience. The table was sprinkled with rose petals and a card wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Our server, Tony, came promptly to take our order and noted our food allergies and restrictions. Our first course was the seafood tower, which I was able to customize with more shrimp since I'm allergic to oysters. Second, we had the lobster bisque and the burrata & beet salad. Both were divine! For the main course, I had the scallops while my husband had the filet medallions Oscar style, which comes with asparagus. We also ordered two additional sides for sharing - the crab fried rice and truffle mac. You honestly can't go wrong with either dish! We loved our meal but my husband wasn't crazy about the steak. As for the food, it was hit-or-miss. My husband ordered the steak sliders from happy hour menu, but they were disappointing--it was just a small, thick cut of steak placed on a bun, rather than being thinly sliced, and it completely lacked any sauce. I also tried the beet salad from the regular menu, which was truly delicious, but it felt incredibly expensive for what it was. The drink options were a bit of a letdown. The happy hour cocktails seemed to be made with pretty low-end vodka, which threw the flavor profile way off. Because of that, we ended up ordering additional drinks from the regular menu instead--which defeated the whole purpose of going for happy hour. On the positive side, our server was absolutely on point and did a fantastic job, even though she was serving the entire bar by herself. The atmosphere was also lovely--the live band provided great background noise without being overpowering, so the overall vibe definitely worked. While the service and ambiance were great, the happy hour value and overall execution just weren't there for me.

The patatas braves had a nice, smoky flavor. Now for entree, I ordered the veggie chaufa. Our server may have been a little biased as he preferred the Peruvian side of the menu, more so than the Cuban side. My dish was easily good for 2-3 people. It had tons of veggies and scrambled egg, plus served with a side of fried plantains. Our group ordered a bunch of other dishes and tried some of them. The churrasco steak was a little chewy but loved the chimichurri it was served with. The parrillada de mariscos was so good too, and my personal fave was the grilled octopus! Personally, I would opt for this instead of the valenciana paella. You essentially get the same types of seafood. I love that we got to dine at this hidden gem! We truly enjoyed our experience and will be back for sure.
