Was completely disappointed! My husband wanted to surprise me with something different for our anniversary. I went online and read the dress code, but what we saw at the restaurant, that was a waste of time... T-shirts, baseball caps, sandals on men and more than one girl with their shorts that left little to the imagination. Ok for other places but when you charge the amount of money they do for their food I expect not to see that. And it just goes down hill from there... We saw our server a total of 4 times, other servers brought our food and helped with other issues. I could justify this if it was busy, but it was NOT, they had a whole section completely empty, and multiple empty tables in the section we were in. From the drinks to the food it was a MESS! My soda was FLAT but couldn't find our server, so I let it go. We ordered the Mexico City Spinach Con Queso(brought by someone else NOT our waiter), I had very little, I didn't want to "fill up" and not eat the meal. We had finish with the queso and waited for a while before our dinner order was taken. Then we waited... and waited... I ordered the burger medium well, it was plain to say the least. It had the normal fixings on it and WAY TOOO much mayo( I scraped enough off for another burger) BUT WORSE OF ALL IT WAS RAW! So raw that when the waitress(again couldn't find our waiter) said do you want me to have them just cook this one more or another one made, I said I didn't want it at all . She was very nice and said she would get me a menu so I can choose something else. BUT by the time we saw our waiter again to take the order my husband was just about done with his meal and seeing how it took FOREVER for us to get our food in the first place, I didn't order anything else. My husband finished eating(only about half) so we waited for a box, had to call over another server since again ours was NO where to be found. When he did come over and we asked for a check he asked if we wanted dessert, we said NO and then he kept pushing the carrot cake. Then asked my husband if he wanted a refill on his drink. At this point I was irritated. He finally brought the check and stood there waiting for the card, I told my husband to hand me the check, he rudely snapped" I took the burger off!!" I said calmly " I was just checking" .My husband handed the card, then asked me to finish it, he needed to go outside. He had to walk away he was so upset, which in 11 years I have NEVER seen him do. So I left this expensive restaurant STARVING!!! And a horrible anniversary dinner! My husband kept apologizing, he was only trying to do something nice for me. It's been a rough few weeks for us, we lost someone very important to us, and I had been out of town the last week, but rushed home for our anniversary. With just my husband's dinner and the queso, it still was just under the $100.00 mark( he only drank water)... Seems a bit much for the horrible experience. Do yourself the favor and find another restaurant to go to if you want a nice place, at this point we could've went across the street to 54th Street Bar and Grill, had a better experience, better food and spent a whole lot less! read more

This is our second time to Redlands Grill and both times have been a positive experience. The restaurant has an upscale vibe that I appreciate without being over priced. They have a sharp looking staff whom take pride in providing a great customer experience. We had Caitlyn and Leslie as our bartenders yesterday. They were both positive, professional, and pay attention to small details. We were there for a late lunch, sitting at the bar, so our food order was simple. I had a Caesar salad with salmon and a side of fries. Their Caesar dressing is delicious and the salmon was perfectly prepared. You can never go wrong with fries, which were the tasty shoe-string kind! I'm such a Caesar salad snob and theirs is the BEST I've had so far. We have decided to make this our regular spot. Coming from the Bay Area/ NorCal where there is no shortage of good restaurants, we give this place a double fist bump and a Five-Star rating! Great job guys! Keep it up! read more

Redlands long awaited for that special occasion we visited on my wife's birthday and needless to say we made an excellent choice! Upon arrival the hostess are very friendly and even made a reservation of 6 in advance we were quickly seated! First let's rate the service, the waitress was very attentive and assured our needs were met great advice when it came to choosing my wife's cake! Now the drinks, my wife ordered the Red Headed Martini which was really sweet and good smelled strong too, and I ordered the Out of Time Manhattan, very smooth and satisfying Manhattan I honestly wanted another one! The entrees, the 22 oz Cowboy Bone In Rib Eye was very good, juicy ordered medium well and full of flavor paired well with loaded baked potato and for a little extra the Not Your Ordinary Mac n Cheese crusted and cheesy Mac full of flavor! Last but not least the desert, my wife ordered the Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake, nicely crusted and topped with whip was an excellent choice! When they get orders right, the food is good. The problem is with the service. We ordered food from here for delivery this evening. Two of the appetizers and the side dish for one of the entrees were missing. My salad also came with bacon on it, despite requesting it be left off (which could obviously be a problem for someone who doesn't eat bacon for religious or medical reasons). When my husband called the restaurant, they said the artichokes "haven't been in stock in two months." So why not temporarily remove them from online ordering platforms? (Other restaurants can and have done this when they're out of an item.) This is the second time we've gotten an order without the appetizers. The first time, my husband called in a takeout order and picked it up himself. He opened the takeout bags to check the order at the bar (where takeout orders are handled), and discovered that the appetizers were missing. He got the bartender's attention and told him. The bartender said they were out of the appetizers we had ordered, so they just left them out and didn't substitute anything. Never said a word about being out of the appetizers when he initially picked up the order. Shouldn't they have said something either when my husband called to place the takeout order, or at least when he picked up the food in the first place? AND not had him PAY FOR THEM??? The bartender asked my husband if we would like to select something else since we had already paid. He told the bartender what items to replace the missing appetizers with, and then the bartender disappeared for over 45 minutes. (I know it was 45 minutes because I have time stamps from when my husband texted that he selected new apps, and when he said the bartender finally came back.) It doesn't take 45 minutes to get tortilla chips and spinach dip. (When bartender came back he said, "I thought you'd been taken care of.") This evening my husband was able to get a refund for the missing appetizers and go pick up other items. They were nice enough to include complimentary desserts. However, the restaurant should do a better job managing online ordering platforms to better reflect in-stock items. They also need to be more upfront and tell customers when an item they've ordered is out of stock rather than accept payment for items they don't deliver. We've also had side dishes missing a couple times, so whoever is filling the takeout orders needs to do a better job making sure all meal items are included. read more

Gavin was our server. He was excellent and exceptional at his job. He was always ready to help us, filling our drinks at the perfect time, his attitude and demeanor was so gracious and exactly how a waiter should be. He was a 20 out of 10 waiter! I'd come back just for his service. The food was amazing as well! I got the rib eye with couscous, hubby got the ribs with the Mac and cheese and tequila beans (which Gavin recommended) and OMG!! The food had such a home feel to it!! So comforting and flavorful... Gavin brought my husband a piece of carrot cake for his bday..... and when Gavin said it's the best carrot cake in San Antonio, he wasn't lying!! It was amazing! Far more than our first trip here, came in on a Friday night with 5 people total. Food was exceptional as always, the NYO mac and cheese is always a necessity, but the Ribeye and Ice cream specials were to die for. Mikayla was our server, she was flawless. Her timing was excellent, she was very attentive and funny, and sarcastic when appropriate, which with my friends is never enough. A quiet restaurant on a low laying bill, J Alexander was a great mixture of class and privacy, much like experienced in more sophisticated downtown cities. The hostess was distracted reading and studying, we had to call on her for her attention. She answered without looking up, finished her reading and then addressed us. I've been here at least a dozen times. The service used to be the greatest around. Nowadays, it hit or miss. The last time I went, it had improved and our server was attentive however I noticed they no longer do the little things like when a server passes your table, they take any sugar wrappers or trash and clean it up or offer to give you a refill even though they're not your server. Those were extra things that we enjoyed and made us feel appreciated as customers. We went for our anniversary. I got the prime rib which is something I love to order when we go out to eat. So I was a bit dismayed when I got my dish and my prime rib was mostly fat. And cold. And not 16 inches. If you advertise a 16 ounce prime rib, I want it to be 16 ounces- not 12. And not 50% fat. This is the third time I was given a fatty slab of meat. But this meat was so cold I asked if they could heat it up which technically is a sin. For $42, I expect a bit better. I won't be ordering the prime rib again and I don't really recommend it. The other dishes I've had are good but they do still leave you hungry and for the price, I should be full. There are some great items on the menu that can't be beat. The carrot cake is so delicious. Served warm with a nice cream cheese sauce, this is a great dish. Lastly, the one thing you cannot pass up is their chocolate cake. It's death by chocolate. Tastes freshly made. It's a huge piece so you can split it with 2-3 people. It's very rich and decadent. It's served warm as well with a chocolate ganache that's to die for. Get it. Don't think about it. And the price for the desserts is reasonable. So for that reason alone , I'd go there. read more

We have dined at the Quarry location so were looking forward to the new location near The Rim for my wife's birthday. Were seated right away, which was great. We had a reservation, but it was apparently not necessary on a Friday evening as there were plenty of tables available. Our waiter was there right away and took care of us all evening. We started with a bottle of wine and the Mexico City Spinach Con Queso. That was very good. The queso was quite warm and very tasty. Unfortunately, we weren't but half way through the queso when our dinners arrived! Honestly, I do not expect to be rushed when in a higher-end restaurant so I was pretty shocked when they were dropping off our meals so quickly. My wife had the Brassiers Chicken and was happy with her food. I had the 12 oz Prime Rib and was frankly disappointed. It came out barely warm. Not what I expect for a $40 plate. Dessert was carrot cake, which was quite tasty. All in all, though the staff was attentive, I was disappointed at feeling rushed by the food coming out so quickly. And even more disappointed to have my dinner rushed out to me, yet be barely warm. It's just not the quality I expect from a restaurant with this price point. read more

We had reservations for lunch Sunday and when we arrived to an empty restaurant we were sat in the back corner in a booth. I would have thought we would have had preferred seating with reservations and an empty restaurant. Wait staff was extremely helpful and insured we had what we needed. My wife ordered the Asian Ahi tuna salad. This is a dish she love to order. Rare ahi tuna that is just pan seared. When it arrives it usually charred on the outside and red to pink on the inside. If it's cooked too long the fish turns white. What she was served was brown to a blackish blue center. It has a very strong smell to it. I can't believe the kitchen allowed this to be served. As soon as they sat it in front of her I cut a piece and smelled it. And immediately sent it back without my wife saying a word, we changed her order to the Brasserie Chicken which was amazing! Interestingly the manager nor the chef came to the table. Nothing was said. I wish I had taken a picture to post but it was so bad it was felt with instantly. I know she would have been sick if she ate that fish. I expect so much more! read more

I'm a vegetarian and the only option on the menu was a damn burger like no one knows of another vegan or vegetarian dinner option apart from a burger that's not a meal. Vegetarian pasta or vegetable fried rice are 2 easy to make MEALS that will cost the kitchen nothing extra to put on the menu because the ingredients are already on hand even if no one orders it the restaurant won't loose but gain more customers with meals that offer more sustenance. Those are option as meal to prepare as an entree not a damn burger for an upscale restaurant I was disappointed. read more
